Domain name from the configuerd mail server
HI,
How to get the domain name from the mail server that i configure using java Mail..
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("mail.smtp.host", mailServer);
mailServer has my mailServer name like email.something.com
in my application, from address is the one user sets.. if they forgot to set it and tries to send a mail then i need to send that mail with a default address like [email protected] where something.com must be the domain name.. so i juz want to know how to get the domain name.?
hope it is clear. can any of u help me out?
There's no well-defined way to do this. The
simplest approach is to offer this as a configuration
option.
A more complicated approach would be to use
the host name of the mail server and look up
that name in DNS and try to find the DNS record
that tells which mail server to use for that host
name, perhaps stripping off elements of the name
until you find something. (And no, I can't explain
to you exactly how to do that.)

I had over 200 e-mails. I went to my webmail and deleted most of them. However, my iPhone still shows 200 e-mails. How can I force my iPhone to update from the e-mail server? Or will I have to delete each e-mail from my iPhone as well? Thanks.
You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

How to get the domain name from the System
I need to get the domain name from the system in JDK 1.1.8
Any Ideas?InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName() will get you the name of the computer the code is executed on. If that isn't the "domain name" then perhaps you could give more detail about what "domain" you are trying to find the name of.

Why has Mail stopped downloading messages from the web-mail server
I have several e-mail accounts that have all worked well until recently when one (tesco.net) has stopped downloading messages. I can send mail from the account ok and can see the unopened mail on the web server. I have not changed the settings and the Doctor comes up with all buttons green confirming internet connection to server. I phoned Tesco support but they say they cannot see a problem. Any advice anyone?
This is the total readout from Connection Doctor, I'm only concerned with the Tesco.net account.

How to retrieve the fully qualified domain name from the IP Address?
Hi,
How can i retrieve the commplete host name along with the domain name (something like x.y.com) of a server?
I tried using the InetAddress.getHostName(), getCanonicalHostName(), etc but it retrieves me only the host name (only x in x.y.com)
Is there a way to solve ?
Thanx and Regards
Biju NairgetInetAddress() of Socket Class will return the remote IP address in a InetAddress object.
Use the object with the getCanonicalHostName() of InetAddress class.
I may be wrong though. Cheers! -
How do I transfert my domain name from the first registrar to business catalyst ?
Hey,
I don't find where (on the Admin Console) I have to put the EEP Key of my domain name I want to use for the website on BC. This EPP Key come from the registrar of my site that I want to transfer to BC. I want use this name domain.
Can you help me ?
Thank you.
MarionHi Marion,
After you have gone live with your BC site you'll need to access your domain's registrar and input our NS records.
So you'll need go where you purchased the domain to set this up. Please view the article below for step by step instructions.

How do I get IE to drop the domain name from authentication responses
All,
I have a number of internal www servers that run various non MS operating systems which are not tied to the windows domain in any way. They are secure www sites and require authentication.
When I connect to one via IE on a domain joined workstation or server (ie 8 & 9) I am unable to authenticate because I can not remove the domain name from the authentication credentials that IE is passing back to the www server. I get an authentication
prompt for user name & password with the domain pre populated.
How the heck to I get IE to NOT pass the domain name as part of the authentication process. I've tried putting .\ in front of the user name but to no avail.
Thanks,
Steve D.As you can see below, when you first attempt the auth it defaults to you domain user account... in this case win\username.
When you select use another account, you get the following with no means to remove the domain name which causes auth failure as this www server isn't a domain member and doesn't use the domain for auth.
How do I get rid of Domain: .... ???
Thanks,
Steve D. -
The outgoing mail server on my desktop just stopped working - i have checked all of the settings and everything seems to be correct - any suggestions?
Are these the settings you are using?

Is there a way to have your PS script Query the name of your local Mail Server?
Hey Guys,
Really hoping someone can help me out here. I am currently working on a script that Automates the entire user creation process (AD account, Exchange Mailbox, UCM Soft phone). I want this script to be universal for all systems I have to work with.
By this I mean that I can run the script on various systems (Different Domains) without ever having to modify the code.
I have run into a bit of a problem while trying to automate the PSSession component of my script. I would like to be able to run he script and it inserts the relevant Mail server name based on some sort of Lookup or query. I am currently circumventing
the issue by having a text box pop up asking for the mail server name. It works, but its not really what I want for the end product. Its frustrating seeing as I have overcome similar issues for things like UPNs, AD Server, etc....
I have though about having it pull from the DNS MX records, but there are a number of different records for different Mail servers.
Any help would be awesome!Notice that this has drifted a whole long way from the original question. I pointed out that it is easy with Exchange but if the servers are in different companies or are not part of an enterprise deployment then you need to look at the local AD and
seek to the top. Any one mailbox wwil get you an exchange server to remote into and use the exchange shell to discover the network.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Looking back over the thread, that may be my fault. I mistook the comment about checking MX to mean he's just looking for a mail relay.

How to determine the Current Domain name from inside an Mbean / Java Prog
We have registered an Application Defined MBean. The mbean has several APIs. Now we want to determine the currrent domain using some java api inside this Mbean. Similarly we have deployed a Webapp/Service in the Weblogic domain. And inside this app we need to know the current Domain. Is there any java api that will give this runtime information.
Note: We are the MBean providers not clients who can connect to the WLS (using user/passwd) and get the domain MBean and determine the domain.
Fusion ApplcoreNot sure if this will address exactly what you are looking to do, but I use this technique all the time to access runtime JMX information from within a Weblogic deployed application without having to pass authentication credentials. You are limited, however, to what you can access via the RuntimeServiceMBean. The example class below shows how to retrieve the domain name and managed server name from within a Weblogic deployed application (System.out calls only included for simplicity in this example):
package com.yourcompany.jmx;
import javax.management.MBeanServer;
import javax.management.ObjectName;

We use the Apple mail server to get e-mails from our gmail and comcast mail accounts. Recently we have been getting spam that claims to be sent to a gmail address, but when I check that address directly, there is no such e-mail, either in the inbox or in the spam folder. Is it possible to bypass the gmail account and send directly to the Apple mail server, spoofing the gmail address?
Maybe some info here for you about spoofing. (and much additional info)

Exchange server-Removing a Domain Controller from the forest
Hi Guys,
I need some help on removing a faulty domain controller from the AD forest. Here is the scenario:
1. The FSMO roles have been seized to a new domain controller already.
2. The old one is non-functional and is down for ever.
I know the steps would be doing a meta-data cleanup And then remove some of the DNS entries related to the old server. But the real issue is:
> I have Exchange 2013 running in one of the machines configured in the Forest, which was migrated from the old Domain controller. I then set Exchange listening to the new domain controller.
So, my doubt is, if I delete the old domain controller and do a metadata cleanup, would it have any effect on the exchange server? The Exchange machine acts as an additional domain controller as well. Its a production environment and any
change that affects Exchange would cause a big loss. Looking forward for your valuable suggestions..
Regards,
NashHi Ed,
I don't have issues with the AD on the Exchange server. Eventhough it is configured as an AD, Exchange is pointed to the main working domain controller, which is a different machine. I just want to remove the traces of an old domain controller from which
I transferred the FSMO roles to the new domain controller. The old domain controller is completely down and hence I can't do a conventional 'dcpromo' on it. So just planning to do a 'metadata clean up' for removing the non-working DC from the forest.
So, In essence, I just want to know that, if I do a metadata cleanup, would it affect the Exchange server in any way?

Hi, I have private emails in IPAD2, i have chaged the incoming mail server name and saved the change.
but, when I back to read my old emails in inbox it's gone away, I have backed to setting and return the previous
incoming mail name, but also I did't get the old emails. where I can find the old emails in my IPAD2 ?It is only the link to your emails which are 'stored' on your iPad. You will have to enter all proper email addresses to get the message associated with them, which, in practice, means multiple accounts. If all still does not work try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release].

HT201320 what is the incoming mail server host name and user names
Hi there,
I am trying to add my school email account to my phone and I am able to fill in the
Name
Email
and Description
but am not sure what I am supposed to fill out in the Incoming Mail Server spots:
Host Name
User Name
and the password is already filled in?
and Im not sure what the Outgoing Mail Server is either. You'll have to ask someone at your school what the incoming server settings are for their email. These differ for every email provider/account.

Company name determined from the e-mail id???
Hi,
I read from the following blog that the company names are determined from the e-mail ids given in the business card.
/people/eddy.declercq/blog/2006/06/30/the-firm
Wouldnt it be better to get it from the URL of the company mentioned in the business card? What happens if i use my personal e-mail id for receiving my SDN mails?
Thanks,
Prasath NIn that case their points are not applied to their company whole and when the new changes come out they would not be listed as part of that company.
There are other possibilities we are looking into but any that provide for user input has the inherient problem that someone is going to type if different that you are,
Company Name: ABC Technologies, Inc.
Company Name: ABC Technologies
Company Name: ABC
Company Name: ABC Technologies Inc
Company Name: ABC Technologies Inc.
So what do we do cut it down to "ABC" and take all of that?
Company Name: ABC WorldWide Distributions
Opps now we have another problem.
Email is not easier:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
Those all work too.
The way we are doing it now is still riddled with the problems that people use their "local" email instead of the global company one or even worse they have no global company one and only local ones so for the company with 120 people spread across 4 countries they all show up under 4 different companies.
So for now if you use a yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. you don't get listed and when the changes come out you won't show up under your company name as being part of the contribution of that company.
My question out to all of you is why do you not use your company mail address? You can also set a mail agent to forward your mail to your private account when you go home in the evening.
