Double Steps in Update User workflow

Howdy folks,
I just noticed some wierd behavior and I thought I would see if anyone else has noticed (or can explain) it. When I update a user, the workflow status process diagram is shown as normal. However, it has duplicates of several events. For example, the stack goes Provision -> Provision -> End Provision -> End Provision. I was expecting to see each seperate entry only once. Am I just noticing this now? Should IDM be doing this? Why is it hitting them twice??
Any knowledge or opinions are greatly appreciated!

1. backup the existing Update user workflow as an xml file
2. Copy paste the same in the BPE.
3. Save the copy as a new object with a different name.
4. Edit the new workflow as follows:
4.1 Create new activity
4.2 In the new activity, add a variable with some name
4.3 create a new action, and let that action be a subprocess. For that subprocess, browse and choose 'Approval' as the action.
4.4 Add a argument as name=approvalForm and value=<name of approval form>
4.5 Include argument user=$(user), etc. (Check the original approval workflow to see what the names of the arguments are)
4.6 For return to=name of the variable declared, from=approved
4.7 Add a 'isTrue' condition for the variable declared.
5. Make the appropriate transitions, and ur ready to go.
Let me know if this helps. I can post some skeleton code tomorrow. I need to work on it. Drop a line at [email protected]

  • Approval process in update user workflow

    Hi
I have read in the document Administrative Guide that by default, the approval process is set only for user creation. and the same does not work for update and delete operations on user, unless we customize the code.
Does any one of you have any idea as to what customization needs to be done for successful approval process for updates also. I have set approvers for resources.
    Thanks

  • Update User Workflow

    Hi there.
I´ve spent some time with IDM but always working with the Create User Workflow. Now I have some questions about the Update User Workflow:
I see it´s launched when you click "Save" in the edit user form and I imagine that in the same way when any change is detected in a resource. Are there other situations where this workflow will be used?
    Thanks.

Check if the form fields are user.global.attrName. If global fields are set, then all linked resources will be updated. If not the account attributes for the resource will have to be set explicitly in the form (user.accounts[LDAP resource].attrName)

  • How to go back to previous step in a sub workflow?

We are calling a sub workflow upon approval action from a main workflow. In the child workflow we have 9 steps. If at any step in the child workflow (other than first) user does reject action, the workflow control should go back to previous step in the child workflow itself.
We added a custom action in the exit events of all the child workflow steps. Following is the logic of exit event of Step4 of child workflow. Similar logic is there for all steps in the child workflow.
<$if wfAction and wfAction like "REJECT"$>
         <$wfSet("wfJumpTargetStep", "Step3@childWF")$>
         <$wfSet("wfJumpEntryNotifyOff", "0")$>
    <$endif$>
With this code when the user is doing reject action from child workflow, it is taking us back to the main workflow and not to the previous step of child workflow.
    Is this approach correct?
    -Pratap

    1. The 3 events are Entry, Update, and Exit.
    2. Rejects happen in the Update area but you can not reliably react to it there because upon reject it immediately leaves (not going through the exit event).
    3. The rejected content goes backwards in the Workflow step by step (even going back to the main workflow from a sub workflow) until it finds a Step that has valid Editors (not just reviewers).
    4. If it does not find an Editor step it goes all the way back to the automatic Contribution step at the beginning of the Workflow and sits there in a kind of no mans land until the contributor (or an admin) goes and approves it again.
    5. To check if something has been rejected the Entry Event of an editor Step BEFORE the step where it is rejected needs to have code to check for the Reject status.
The sub workflow should be able to capture the Reject as you desire. Are all of the steps in the child workflow (sub workflow) Review only steps? Or maybe the people in the steps do not have RW access to the document? This is what I would predict with your described symptoms.

  • Is it possible to remove the contribution step in the basic workflow?

    Hi,
Our client wants complete control on the the steps and users for each step of the workflow.
This is the approach they want to follow.
There would be a default workflow associated for all content. Any updates to any manged content will have to go through this workflow. There will be only one step having one user for this workflow. Whenever content changes the workflow routes to this user. This user will then decide to define the steps and users for the steps of workflow to be asscoiated to this content.
We thought of making it simple by using a critera workflow and basic workflows to achive this. The default workflow which I was saying would be the criteria workflow. Now once the workflow taskt comes o the user's basket he will then create a basic workflow for the content id with required steps and the users. He will then accept the criteria workflow and start the basic workflow immediately. But we have to ensure somehow that this content of criteria workflow should not be published. We are using content publishing uitility. Hope we can do something there. What I mean by not published here is that content changes made in the basic workflow should not be visible to the end site but they should be visible in the basic workflow.
Now the concern is that in basic workflow there is a mandatory contributor step which is not really required for us. How can we avoid it. And we how to ensure that the approved contents of criteria are not published unless the basic workflow is approved?
    Regards,
    Pratap

    Pratap,
I think you will have to mix several standard mechanisms to achieve what you are looking for.
Note that there are two basic ways to achieve that an item is not accessible:
    - item's state (sending an item to a workflow or leaving it in pending state before the item is published belong to this option)
    - item's security (security groups, accounts, ACLs, etc.)
If you want to have an item in a state that it has not entered a workflow (I'm not sure, but I think it wouldn't be a good idea to mix criteria and basic workflows), but it has to be accessible to a certain group of users, you may have to:
    1) check the item in so that it is accessible to the selected group of users only (published, no workflow)
    2) have the users start the workflow
    3) somewhere (most likely at the beginning of the workflow) relieve the security restriction so that "normal" users can access it during the workflow
    4) as soon as the workflow finishes, it will be available to everyone
as for 1) I'd consider ACLs (Collaboration Manager component)
Another option is to write a component with your own logic - if from any reason the standard mechanisms will have too many obstacles to overcome.
I'd also recommend to consider using BPEL workflows rather than basic workflows - they are equally flexible (if not more) and they can be more easily combined with criteria workflows. You could:
    1) create a general criteria workflow which would grab any new item
    2) the criteria workflow would have just two steps: step 1 - grab an item, wait until BPEL workflow is defined/selected, then continue; step 2 - a synchro step which wait until BPEL workflow finishes, then continue or finish right away

  • Create User Stamp and Update User Stamp

    Hello
Is there a way to track the User ID who creates a record and also track the last User ID to update the same record?  The only field type is USER STAMP so I do not see a way to track both users.  When I choose USER STAMP, the Writable Once options is grayed out and changed to No.
Create User ID = 123.  This ID should coordinate with the CREAT STAMP data and time
Last Update User ID = 789.  This ID should coordinate with the TIME STAMP data and time
    thanks
    Tammi

    Hi Tammi,
Change Tracking is definitely a best solution to track the changes, no doubt about that. but the problem with chnage tracking is that it requires lot of memory and it hampers the performance of MDM server.
So, if your requirement is only to know the user who created the record and the last user who changed the record; then there can be a workaround which will definitely solve your problem.
    Try these steps:
    1. First create two fields in the repository say Created By and Last Updated By. First field will be of type Text and second field will be of type User Stamp.
    2. Now in Data Manager, create an assignment which will assign the value of Last Updated By to Created By.
    3. Now create a workflow which will trigger, everytime new record gets added into repository and call this assignment in that workflow.
    4. So everytime you create a record, user Id of creator will gets stored in Created By field and next time when you update the same record that user ID will gets stored in Last Updated by field.
This should work. Please let us know if problem still persists.

  • How to get the Asset's current step under a specific workflow process via API?

    Everyone,
Is there a way to get the asset's current step for a specific workflow process by the WebCenter Sites API? We are showing out the asset created within the WebCenter Sites in another application via its API. We would like some actions get to be done once determined assets went into a specific step of a workflow process. Any suggestions are welcomed.
    Regards!

Here is some information from the FDK Programmer's guide page 115:
IMPORTANT: A valid text range can span multiple paragraphs, subcolumns, or text frames.
It cant span multiple flows, footnotes, table cells, or text lines.
It is possible for a document to have no text selection or insertion point at all. This can occur in
    the following circumstances:
    ● One or more graphic objects in the document are selected
    ● One or more entire table cells in the document are selected
    ● There is no selection of any type in the document
So, I did select one or more entire table cells in the document in my first test. It's logical that the result was not like expected.
But selecting one or more entire table cells is a crucial requirement for my plugin, is there anyway to get things straight?
Simply put, I want to enable users to select one or more table cells in the document, and I want to get the object handles of the first cell and the last cell through Framemaker API calls. How?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Ellen N. Zhao

  • Custom propertie's values are not updated for workflow metadata

    Hi,
I've a requirement where I need to add and update some properties. to /etc/workflow/instance/<Instancename>/data/metadata node.
    I've two workflow Process steps,

i.e. In the step 1, Properties are added to metadata node but In the step 2 propertie's values are not updated to the same node.

  • Self-Register user workflow add user to Group

    Hi,
I have a fairly basic Self-Register user workflow that I am playing with in OAM. I am wondering if I can somehow add a step(s) into my workflow that will add the user to be a member of a Group in OAM during registration?
If so, can this be done without an "external action" or custom code?
If anyone knows anything that can help I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Jackie

Here is a solution but will work only if users click on the appropriate self registration links. Also may not be very feasible in cases where self registered user need to be added to a group from large number of groups.
In the workflow step did you configure multiple targets?
You can configure multiple targets under the workflow domain you have chosen.
To self-register a user under a particular group you need to provide a self registration link to users with ObDomainName query string configured appropriately.
    Eg:
Self registration Workflow domain is dc=acme, dc=com
Say you want users to be added to groups
    cn=users1,dc=acme,dc=com and
    cn=users2,dc=acme,dc=com.
For this create 2 Targets in 2nd step of your workflow for the two groups you want user should be added to. Now you have effectively two self registration urls,
    http://host:port/identity/oblix/apps/userservcenter/bin/userservcenter.cgi?program=workflowSelfRegistration&ObWorkflowName=...<your value here>...&ObDomainName=cn=users1,dc=acme,dc=com
    http://host:port/identity/oblix/apps/userservcenter/bin/userservcenter.cgi?program=workflowSelfRegistration&ObWorkflowName=...<your value here>...&ObDomainName=cn=users2,dc=acme,dc=com
Now if you can manage users to click on appropriate links then you can achieve the goal.

  • Authentication step in standard signing workflow

Is it possible to add authentication step into standard signing workflow? We cannot use any other signature handler except the standard one (PPKLight) - there is a restriction in the documents. But we need to authenticate user once she wants to sign,
    Thanks in advance,
    Nikita

    Hi Steve,
Thank you for your attention to my question!
By the requirements we need to make user enter password every time when he/she signs document.
We are aware of the strong private key protection for digital IDs from Windows Certificate Store and about digital ID files in Adobe. But in case of Windows Certificate Store Adobe asks for password only first time when user sign document, all the next are skipped; in case of digital ID files Adobe allows user to adjust password timeout - we need somehow restrict this option for user so he/she cannot set anything except entering password "Always".
There are 2 open questions now for us and it would be very helpful if you knew the answer:
      1) How to overcome the "certificate caching" in case of Windows Certificate Store or how to restrict adjusting password timeout for digital ID files in Adobe?
      2) It would be even better if we could authenticate user in third party system every time he/she tries to sign document. I was looking for some kind of authentication interceptor which Adobe could use right before starting signing procedure, but no luck so far. Do you know if it is possible? And if yes then how?
Thank you for your help in advance!
    Nikita

  • Update user object

I have a workflow which updates the attributes. It checks out a view, then im trying to use update user view and check in. There are no errors but the attributes never gets updated.
in Update user view's subprocess there are 2 arguments, accountId and updates
i am setting accountId to accountId, but i dunno what goes in updates.
does anybody know what goes in updates?

try debugging your workflow and make sure that the namespace you are using is valid at the point you are setting it (matches view name etc).
You may need to set it as global.accountId, user.global.accountId, variables.user.global.accountId, etc.
Once the view is checked out, you can modify it directly and then check it in. You can use form fields to modify the value or just <set> in an expression (rather than updateView).
    <set><viewName><s>attribute</s><s>value</s></set>-Rob

  • Suddenly unable to update User Authorisation in 8.8 PL11

This has been posted previously, but it was marked as solved... But the "solution" is not working for us.
(original thread: Unable to update User Authorisation after Upgrade to 8.8 PL13)
We did not have any problems after upgrading our db's to pl11.  It was just recently that this function stopped working.
Here are the steps and failure outlined:
    Steps :
    1. Update the one of the user authorisation of the upgraded company. Eg. Set Drag & Relate from Various Authorisation to Full Authorisation.
    2. Click on "Update" (nothing happened).
    3. Click on "Update" (2nd time, system indicated that Update is successful.
    4. Exit from General Authorisation.
    5. Re-enter General Authorisation.
    6. Found that the authorisation for that user is updated. it is still Various Authorisation for Drag & Relate.
I have tried other users and found to be the same. authorisations are not updated. Furthermore, the Update button is clicked twice.
Our other 5 company databases do not have this issue.
Please advise. What needs to be done.

Gordon, I think you're on to something, but I am already looking down this path too...
    I ran the following query,
select distinct permid from usr3 where permid not in (select absid from oupt)
This query showed results, therefore there is definitely inconsistencies in the database.
I guess, this means that there's no solution?  Only a "hotfix" from SAP?

  • Steps to create User ID and assigne roles.

    Hi,
What are the steps to create User ID using BAPI_USER_CREATE1.
How can I assign an User the role ECC/PORTAL/BI?
    Thanks in Advance
    Roy

Am not sure what type of BI server installation you have...
But here's one way you could create your users.
From the BI Administration Tool --> Open your repository either offline or online --> From the menu click on Manage --> Security--> Here's where you could create your users, groups etc., set what subject areas each user/group should have access to --> After creating your users/groups you could double-click on the user or group and set permissions.
    Hope this helps,
    -Esther

  • OIM - Update Approval Workflow

Hi all, is it possible in OIM to define a update approval workflow?
The workflow will be triggered when the user tries to update a spesific attribute in the resource form.
    Is it possible?

Request to modify does not exist within OIM. You would need to create a generic object to be able to submit a request for a modification which would then lookup the appropriate object for the user and then provision the changes to that object.
