Download greater than 255 characters from alv into excel sheet
Hi,
I have an ALV grid display report where the last field contains close to 600 characters of text.
When I use the Export -> Local File -> Spreadsheet option and save it in an excel sheet, only first 255 characters are getting downloaded into excelsheet and rest is not gettting downloaded.
Solution I have is: Keep a button on the screen. If that button is clicked, use GUI_DOWNLOAD FM and the entire text (all 600 chars) gets downloaded.
Is there any other solution to the above problem?
I tried downloading the alv report into XML format and opened as an excel document, but even then only first 255 characters are apearing in excel cell.
The domain has length 2048 chars for the final internal table in alv, so there is no problem with data element or domain.
OIn debugging mode, I am able to see all the 600 chars in the final internal table before alv display.
It looks like there is a constraint in alv that is can display only 255 characters in a cell.
ALso, I tried converting the grid display to list display and then download into excel , but the result is same.
Please help.please search first:

Issue with downloaing from ALV to Excel sheet
Hi All,
When we download the ALV Report to excel sheet, the first line/first column (A11) of excel sheet will have today's date.
Since my customer uses the excel sheet for further processing into a non-SAP system, we need to provide the excel sheet with the cell A11 (First line's firls column) as blank.
How can we deliver this requirement?
Your help will be sincerely appreciated....

Give him 1 push button on toolbar other wise you can write below function module in
start of selection code also.
1 ) modify u r internal table according to requirement.
2) after that call WS_DOWNLOAD function module.

Display of leading zeroes when downloaded from ALV to excel
Hi All,
I have a problem in ALV grid display.
There is a specific field which has value starting from '001' to '999'. This is a char(3) type of variable.
The problem is that the display shows the value as '001' which is correct. but when the same file is dwnloaded to excel using standard SAP functionality, the value of the field gets changed to '1' instead of '001'.
Is there any option by which this can be controlled. Please let me know, its urgent!!
thankshi Ankur,
the Excel download is done by Z program? IF yes you have to do:
SET PROPERTY OF go_cell 'NumberFormat' = '@'.
this will set the Excel cell to Text type and leading zeros won't be lost.

Download from alv to excel in background
Hi All,
I have developed one alv report which has 100 column(more than 1023 character in header).
When I download in excel it is not comming properly so I go to LIST-EXPORT-SPREADSHEET then
it comes in MHTML format then I can open it in to excel so its comes perfect.
Now what my query is--- when I execute in background then there is no option for MHTML format.
so in this case the report not come properly in excel. Please give the solution.
Thanks,
RakeshHi,
Try using File Handling Concept ..Open Dataset (the file will be downloaded in application server) .. and schedule a background job

Missing data while download from ALV to Excel
Hi Experts,
After a report is generated to ALV list, I'm trying to download the report into an Excel file.
Let's say there are 50 records, but in the Excel file only have 6 records, and the last record only have 1st 3 fields out of 14 containing the data and the rest is empty.
I'm using MS Excel 2010, and my system is 4.6C. Not sure what has really gone wrong.
Is there any solutions? Much appreciated for any suggestion and comments
Thanks.Hi,
You'll need to verify your excel data for special characters. These special characters cause inconsistencies in the downloaded data.

Download ICONS from ALV to EXCEL
Dear Friends,
IS there a way of downloading the ICON image exactly
from alv to EXCEL,right now, when the icon is downloaded
from alv to the excel,i can only see ascii characters in
the icon column in the excel.
kind regards
kaushik hegdeHi Jeff,
Please check if following analysis is helpful to you.
Analysis/Solution:
When we export ALV data to excel worksheet, as sap notes say the maximum lenght allowed is 1023 charaters and the max no of columns supported is 90.
(I never faced any issue related to no of columns as it worked fine for columns >90 too)
Issue occured when row size of exported data gets more than 1023 character.
Therefore the row data must not exceed 1023 character, otherwise column splits and moves to next row.
One additional aspect generally missed is that:
When data in any particular column changes it's length, alv header also changes its lengh (short text, medium text, long text; depending on the length of of the longest cell in the column)
therefore even if you have total length of row less than 1023 character, there might be cases when your ALV header size exceeds this length.
Reducing the header size (by forcing to use short text or specifying own header names) should resolve the issue.

Any Idea !!!

MadhuHi Experts,
I have noticed that same problem is occuring in development system also with same set of data . The ascii file created has some missing rows. I guess its due to some special characters though i am not able to see any special character . Any solution for this.

Hi,
I have created a ALV that has 114 columns but only 15 will be displayed. My requirement goes like this I can change the layout of the columns and create a customer download button, where if i click the download button it has to download only the columns in the ALV that is displayed not the entire 114 columns to the Excel file.
Points to be noted is i cannot use the defualt ALV download option as in many columns there are interactive ALV fields where if i click it will give a popup screen with 10 lines of report, but my ALV column will have only "TEXT AVAILABLE" for those.
The current scenario is when i click the download button it downloads the entire 114 columns which is there in my internal table but i need only the columns tat is displayed in the ALV.
It is dynamic as the user might select only 10 columns or even 50 columns, also if th filed has TEXT AVAILABLE then it has to download the entrie content in that.
Please help.Hi,
I think you had not tired to download the details that display in the ALV.
It will download the selected fields after the change in the ALV display.
If you are displaying the 10 fields among the 114 columns and select to download to excel file it will download the 10 fields data only.
I don't know how you are downloading the data to excel sheet.
Let try this way
List -> Export -> Local file -> spreadsheet
It will ask for the directory and the path.
I think this will help you.

Hello all,
I am transferring the ALV output from SAP to Excel sheet using the standard button i.e. To Local FIle.... but i am not getting the text of the last column in the excel sheet. the last column is being displayed empty where as its heading is being displayed....
Regards.
Sabah...Go through the code and Execute it on your system, I think this will do for you.
In this code I used 3 radio buttons in my selection screen:
If u selects the first radio button your out put shows into to the Excel sheet.
If u selects the second radio button your out put shows the in the Editor screen.
If u clicks the third radio button your output shows into the Excel as well as in the Editor.

Problrn when downloas from ALV to excel
Hi All.
I am trying to download data from ALV to excel file, but only last pages are downloaded and not from frist pages?
Can anyone tell me wht it is happening and what is the solution?
Thanks.Hi PKB,
My initial analysis of your query is as follows.
You can test the same by debugging the report after pressing the send to excel report. See the internal table is gettting deleted anywhere in between. If yes analyse it is happening and correct it if possible.
Let me know if any further help is required by providing further details.

Downloading table data into Excel sheet - Webdynpro Java
Hi All,
We have developed a custom webdynpro application that executes an RFC and displays data in Table UI element. We have provided a button to download the data in excel sheet. When data is huge like, total number of rows filled up in the table are around 11,000 & columns are 32, and when user tries to download whole 11000 rows in excel sheet, the timeout occurs after 20 mins due to huge data. But when I apply filtering on the same table data and then try to download some 700 rows out of 11000 into excel, it took me around 3.36 mins.
If anyone encountered such scenario in past, please guide in this regard to speed-up the download to excel functionality or suggest any other alternative.
We are using 7.3 Portal and tableUtilities java class for export to excel functionality.
Thanks,
Amol.hi monica ,
sorry im not able to understand properly ,
The server don't restarts automatically when we uploading a huge data, onlly we open the file instead of save the file.
If we save the file the problem is that when we try to open this, the process can take hours and sometimes excel is blocked
you mean that after saving the file to your desktop , having huge data you are not able to open the file i.e the excel file. your file gets blocked or consumes more time to open the file ,
or else when you are prompted for saving or opening , on click of opening you are facing the problem ?
let me be clear with your part , here your application deals with uploading the data from webdynpro table to excel sheet and allowing the end user to save or open the file right .
