Download mp4

I am developing a web app with MVC and I can't get a video to download with an ipad, it tries to open it and displays an error. How do I force the ipad to download a mp4 video instead of trying to open it.

There is the Free iTube Grabber which can capture almost any audio and/or video stream (it says here:)

Firefox Download Helper is also supposed to work, you have to be logged into YouTube first.
and the RealPlayer Downloader that comes with RealPlayer 11 for Mac from:

which also downloads videos from YouTube.

You should be able to open the zipped file by double clicking on it.

I am not able to download mp4 files (video and audio) to iTunes since I updated to iTunes 11.  Thanks for your help.

Thank you for clarifying. Your question is in your browser, not in iTunes. Each download link is different, and it has nothing to do with the File menu. You can save media files by secondary-clicking on the link to the media file and selecting Save File to "[your downloads folder".

  • Download mp4 videos to iPad and play in Flash Builder

    Hi,
Is it possible through an AIR iOS app to download mp4 video files from a web server and save them on an iPad?  These files would also be played on the iPad using the same app offline. If it is any code help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Mike

Try playing it with free OPlayerHD Lite.

  • Can download MP4s only from Mac webspace

I can download MP4s from my Mac webspace but nowhere else. Also, I can download MOVs from anywhere just fine, even the places where I can't download MP4s.
When I try and download MP4s from normal spots on the web, I just get many pages of weird foreign-language-looking nonsense!

Mac App Store is an option, not required.
It's unwise and unethical to download pirated software.

  • Problems with infinite/jumping buffering using Strobe MP with progressive download MP4

    Hello,
I am fighting with the Strobe Media Player and an MP4 video that it is supposed to load and play with progressive download.
The video is playing perfectly fine, except if it needs to buffer somewhere on the middle (the first "buffering" works correctly). If it happens, either it will stay buffering forever - but the buffer bar keeps filling up -, or after several seconds it will jump the video some seconds ahead, and start buffering again, repeating this until the end.
I have tried a lot of different scenarios, with different options on the buffer settings of Strobe, and different encodings on the video, without results.
The video can be seen here: http://www.webfuel.pt . It's currently encoded for 750 kb/s, using VBR 2 pass, web optimized.
I am testing using a bandwidth limiter (Service Capture), and limiting to around 200 kb/s. When the video reaches the buffer, the problem happens.
What can be the cause of the problem? A setting on Strobe? The video encoding? HTTP server configuration? A bug on Strobe?
By the way, just a fast question. For the current use case (the video you saw on the site, autoplaying), which bitrate would you consider acceptable? And considering the purpose is Web/Progressive downloaded is it recommended the use of VBR, or should I use CBR? Is there anything more relevant when encoding a video to be deployed on the web?
    Thank you,
    João Saleiro

We have solved the problem by creating our own video player and applying the technique described here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1079935/actionscript-netstream-stutters-after-buffering
In another words, when the buffer gets empty, we pause the player, and we create an eventlistener that checks when the buffer is full to resume the playing. The result can be seen our site.
This is, IMHO a big problem in the Strobe Media Player that made us loose around 2 days researching, and can be easily solved with the above technique.

  • Is there a way to download mp4 quicker?

I am trying to download an MP4 file that is 1.5 hrs. long and it's saying 11 hrs. to download.  Is there an app for MAC that is recommended to speed this up?  QuickTime has latest update.

The only way to speed up download from some other system is to have a faster Internet connection. A movie that's 1.5 hours long can easily be several gigabytes in size, so it could well take 11 hours to download depending on the speed of your Internet connection, and if so then nothing is going to speed that up, at least not in any significant way.
    Regards.

  • Unable to watch downloaded mP4s

    Hi all-
I'm currently experiencing a problem when QT will fluctuate CPU cycles while watching mp4's I purchased from iTunes. The CPU will spike into the 90-100% range and the mp4 becomes unwatchable. I tried reinstalling and repairing QT, but it gives the same result. Not sure why this might be happening, but it seems to only happen with these mp4s (all other QT movs work fine).
    Any insights would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Have you tried closing the Videos app and restarting or rebooting your iPad?
If you live in a country where movies can be downloaded again for free, delete the movie and download it again. The movie must also be available for another free download as well, as all movies do not fall into this category.
Close the videos app and reboot and see what happens.
If you're running iOS 5 or 6 - Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
If you're running iOS 7 - To close an app, you drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Download MP4 to Imovi?

Why does Imovie not import my MP4 files, however Itunes imported them to my FILMS directory on the IPAD ?

You'll be running into limitations of the settings in the user's browser. The best you can do is make sure the MP4's extension is .m4v instead of .mp4 Double-clicking a .m4v file will open it in iTunes rather than QuickTime Player. (The files are identical except for the file extension.)
If the user's browser is set to automatically open downloaded files, then it will run iTunes for them. But most people won't have this option on because of the security implications.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • Trouble Downloading MP4 from Web Inspector in Safari

    Hello,
I have searched the web for an answer to this question but haven't had any luck.
I am using Safari 6.0.4 and am familiar with how to download ebmedded videos from websites using the web inspector (i.e. opening the inpector, refreshing the page, opening the Other folder, locating the video in the left panel and double cliking it). I never have any troubles doing this, except for when the file is an mp4.
When the file is an mp4, instead of downloading the video to my downloads folder, the video is launched in a new tab. In previous versions of Safari this would not be an issue, because I could simply drag the little blue dot in the address bar to the Show Downloads section and the video would start downloading. But unfortunately this function no longer works. I have tried any number of button presses and mouse clicks, but the only thing I can achieve is the video opening in a new tab where it cannot be downloaded from. The closest I can get is dragging the little blue dot into iTunes, but that only serves as a gateway to the online file.
Does anybody have any ideas of how to get past this?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for all of the great help this website has provided over the years.

Paste the MP4's address into the address bar and press the Option and Enter keys.

  • No support for downloading MP4 into Itunes library

    Hi!
There seems to be a lot of questions on what to do if Itunes won't add MP4 movies. (I'm having this problem also).
Does anyone know who to contact if we can't get an answer in these forums?

The least expensive way that I can think of is an external hard drive. That is what I do all my archiving to.
If you have an external BluRay recorder, it might work so long as the drive itself has drivers available for your Mac. Still, you won't be able to watch movies, as the device itself has to support some of the protocols. Apple themselves do not support BluRay movie play at all, and likely never will.
