Download photos from ipod classic

Because of a glitch with the electricity, my separate harddrive reformatted itself to MS-Dos; so to reformat it back to Mac, I had to delete my iPhoto files.  While trying to back it up on my OTHER harddrive, a 'fault' appeared just as it was finishing up.  After clicking the OK button, I thought, well, the iPhoto that already was there would be practically fully backed up, one photo more or less would be no problem.  So I went ahead and reset my harddrive (the first one), not realizing that my iPhoto had entirely disappeared from my second, backup harddrive!  I still have a few of the pictures on my iPod classic.  The question is, can I upload them back from my iPod into a file on my computer?

Depending on your options when you synced the photos onto the iPod they may only be low resolution versions. Some of the tools listed in this user tip Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device may be able to extract them. If you included full resolution images I think they get stored in readable folders at the root of the iPod's drive.

  • Trying to download photos from Ipod classic to a PC

How do I sync Ipod photos to My Albums on an HP PC?

Syncing photos is only one way, from your PC to your iPod. If you need to copy photos from your iPod back to your PC, you'll need the assistance of some third party software.  Also keep in mind that these photos are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions optimized for viewing on your iPod's small screen.
    Here is one option.

  • How do you download music from  Ipod Classic to computer?

How do you download music from ipod classic to computer

If your music collection was purchased from iTunes, you are in a good shape since that music is forever yours under your iTunes account. Therefore, after installing iTunes on your new computer, sign into your account and see all your music under "Purchsed". Then simply download it to be phisically present onto your computer (for free since you've already paid for it).
On the other hand if you happens to not be a sucker to waist money on iTunes and your collection was ripped from the internet (via torrents and such), you need some third party software to copy iPod music, here is a guide about how to transfer music from iPod classic to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Downloading music from ipod classic to external hard drive

Hi, Can anybody please tell me if its possible to download music from my classic to an external hard drive and would copyright issues be envolved perhaps stopping me downloading all the music. Most of the music is from my own CD's. Thanks.

While it is possible to put the music on an iPod onto an external drive, it isn't easy, and iTunes can't do it. You would need a third-party programme. Is the music not listed in your iTunes Library, and therfore, on your computer? Then all you would need to do is copy the files from their location on your computer to the external hard drive.
It should be on your computer, it's not wise to use the iPod as your only copy of your Library, since it's not designed to be a back up device.
As for copyright; this is actually a grey area, dependent upon which country you are in. In the UK for example, it is actually breaking copyright to put the CDs you own onto an iPod. But in reality, no one in the UK will be prosecuted since what they are doing is regarded as fair use. (I think these rules are about to change, in favour of the consumers.) I believe that in the USA, at least one lawyer has been trying to bring a prosecution based on "putting your CDs onto an iPod is copyright theft".
    What is usually boils down to is this;
if you are making a copy for your own use, that's okay. But if you are making a copy for you to keep, while you then sell your original CDs to someone else, that's copyright theft.
Members of one household, i.e. brothers, sisters and children can share the music on CDs, without fear of copyright theft accusations. But if your brother moves out to his own home, then he no longer has a right to copies of your CDs.
Making a copy, by which you make profit, or deprive the copyright owner of income, is copyright theft. So lending your CD to a friend, who then makes a copy and returns the CD to you, is copyright theft, even if you made no money from this.

  • How to transfer photos from iPod classic (earlier version) to my mc

I just brought a new imac and I am trying to transfer my photos from my ipod classic earlier version (software version 1.3, 30GB) to my iMAC.

The photos syned to the iPod are very low res versions of the original photos, optimized to fit on the iPod's small screen while taking up as little space in storage as possible.  They are stored in a single special database file.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer them to the Mac, and if you could, they would look bad blown up to a larger size on the iMac's screen.
There is a setting on the iPod's Photos screen in iTunes (a checkbox) that says Include full-resolution photos.  IF that setting was checked when you synced the photos to the iPod, you can Enable disk use and find the originial full res photo files in the Photos folder (on the iPod).
Otherwise, you should transfer the original photo files from your previous computer, if possible.

  • Ipod nano - lost photos from ipod classic

I had an ipod classic on my pc and then installed an ipod nano for my daughter. It automatically synched with my library. She now has my songs but cannot import any music(it takes over 1 hour to imort 16 songs -then show durations of over 400 minutes and will not play. In addition I have lost all my photographs. Can anybody over a solution or should I put the lot in the bin? I am desperate - already spent 4 hours at this! Thanks

Pic sync is one way - computer to ipod.
Ipod will sync pics with one computer at a time. If you sync to another, then it will first erase the current content from the ipod, then replace with content from the new computer.

  • How to transfer photos from ipod classic to pc

i have followed the instructions on a previous post but its still not showing my photos on the computer can anyone help me to do this without deleting my photos i have 2000 to transfer.

You need a third-party program. PhoneView and Touch Copy work for iOS devices like the iPod touch. They may work for the iPod classic. You posted in the iPod touch forum.

    Try here:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
That only works for photos/videos in the iPod's Camera Roll album. Those are the ones taken by or saved to the iPod.
If that is the case what happens when you try? Error message?
    Maybe

  • HT1678 How do I synch/download photos from my iPod classic to my computer, which has a Windows operating system?  Thanks.

I am trying to download photos from my iPod to either an external hard drive or my computer, which has a Windows operating system. The iPod should function like an external hard drive, right?  My photo files/computer/hard drive were damaged. Can I put my photos on the iCloud, and then save on external drive?  Not sure how to o this either.  I lost a few years of baby photos. Thanks for any help!

iTunes syncing to iPods (that are not iPod touch) mostly goes one way, from computer to iPod.  For photos, at the time you synced the photos to the iPod, there is a setting that you needed to have enabled in iTunes if you later want to recover them from the iPod.  This setting is on the iPod's Photos tab in iTunes (where you set up photo syncing).  There is a checkbox for Include full-resolution photos.
IF that checkbox was checked, you can Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab, and find the full-res photo files in the Photos folder on the iPod.  Otherwise (if setting not checked), when iTunes syncs the photos to the iPod, iTunes converts the images to a very low-resolution version that is optimized to fit the small iPod screen and stores the image data in a single database file (to save storage space).  There may be third-party software that can extract separate photos from that database file, but the resulting photos will look bad blown up to computer screen size.

  • Problems downloading photos from the camera to iPod

Last week I tried to download photos from the camera to my 60 GB iPod.
I had almost near 150 pictures (jpg) but something happened. The iPod (or the iPod Camera Connector) isn't able to transfer more than 60 photos (aprox.).
For bigger amounts, the tranfer speeds up and after finishing, I can't find the photos and I can't transfer photos anymore or listen to music o play videos.
Is there any restriction concerning photo transfer? What could be the problem?
    Thanks.

As a matter of fact. After giving my camera a complete charge, I have had
    no more problems
That is why a card reader is so useful. You do not have to wait for the camera to charge and avoid the kind of errors above.
