Downloaded JPG Files Have Security Warning When Downloaded with FF 14.0.1

Since updating to FF14.0.1, JPG files that are downloaded from the internet display "Open File - Security Warning" "Unknown Publisher" when double clicked to open. I can disable the warning for individual files, but would rather have it global for all since JPG file are a low security risk. They do open without the warning when downloaded within IE8. I couldn't find any FF security settings that may affect this issue.

I'm not aware of any changes in Firefox 14 relating to this feature, but there are dozens of changes in each release, so I certainly can't rule it out.
Is the E drive a partition on your hard drive, RAM disk, removable storage? Just wondering whether it might be treated differently than the C drive for some reason. But IE and Firefox should be consistent, since this is all about Windows' internal security controls...

Anyidea how to solve this problem? Thanks for the help.

A quick google for that message would have told you that you're not using generics and the compiler complains about that.
Google for "Java Generics" to find out what all the fuss is about.

  • What does HTML have over PDFs when working with data?

I'm doing some research for a client whose company is moving from PDFs to HTML for their in-house user interfaces.
What does HTML have over PDFs when working with data?
    Thanks!
    Luke

PDFs can indeed work with data and can be programmed with javascript. You can do some pretty interesting things with it. It is even possible to create interactive forms on the web using PDF, however it requires server-side support. As a general rule, though, PDFs are terrible as a web interface and it's far easier to work with HTML and PHP.
HTML is lightweight and PDF isn't (in case that seems like a small thing, it's actually a big negative for PDFs). The success of your PDFs will depend on the versions of acrobat your users use, and getting data in and out of the PDFs will require learning far more about Acrobat's FDF format and XML implementation than you may want to know.

  • "File download - security warning" when running a report

    Hi all,
Few of our users are having an error on their PCs when trying to run a report in Internet Explorer 8 with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 installed on their PCs. The error is:
    "File Download - Security Warning"
Do you want to save this file, or find a program online to open it?
    Name: rwservlet
    Type: Unknown File Type
    Find Save Cancel
Other users are able to run the reports. They have IE8 and Adobe Reader 10.1.2 installed. Any ideas why this problem might occur?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
what is the behavior if you leave adobe Reader opened and running before running the report?
    Thanks, Roberto

  • Security Warning when running DNG converter

    Hi,
I just did a clean install of Vista Ultimate on my laptop and then installed the DNG converter (version 4.4.1).
I copied the executable into Program Files/Adobe/Adobe DNG Converter but every time I run it I get a dialogue box:
    Open File - Security Warning
which asks me to confirm I want to run the file. Even if I uncheck the "Always ask before opening this file" checkbox the behaviour happens.
Anyone else seen this and know how to fix it?
    Thanks
    Patrick.

This is the standard Micro$oft warning for any none Micro$oft product installed from a web download. It is part of their marketing strategy to discourage the use of non-Micro$oft products. It also occurs with Windoze XP.

  • How do I avoid the recipient of my Indesign PDF receiving a security warning when clicking on links?

I create PDF's out of Indesign to send to new clients. They contain links to external websites. They do not contain any javascript or videos or hidden links. If the PDF is opened in Adobe Reader, when the recipient clicks on a hyperlink in my PDF they get a security warning asking if they trust the site. How can I avoid the recipient receiving this Security Warning as it would scare people into thinking I had sent them something malicious when I haven't?

You cannot avoid it, that's part of the PDF security system to make the user aware that he is entering non-trusted area, as it is with every web page when it is opened the first time in Reader or Acrobat on this computer. ThatÄs an unchageable fact. You have to live with it.

There's nothing you can do as the creator of the file. If you could, that whole source of security would be worthless.
They would need to tweak their security settings in Edit>Preferences>Security(enhanced).

  • Firefox gives me a security warning when I open web sites and I don't want it to.

I access a providers web site daily and when I go in I get a box message that their is a security warning that I have to get rid of before going any further. This happens to sites I go to everyday and I don't know how to stop this.

To whomever sent me the question about screen shots (by the way I could not respond to the email nor will it show me your response on this screen)
I couldn't screen shot it but I did copy:

Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?

  • Security warning when searching

    33.1.1, XP, SP3
Since upgrading to 33.1.1 every time I do a Google search from my BT Home Page I get the following security warning:
"Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party.
"Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?"
I am aware that Google search in Firefox's default page is encrypted and I also know that if I use Google search in the address bar of my BT Home Page there is no warning (presumably because I'm still effectively using Firefox).
As stated this has only started happening since the upgrade to 31.1.1 - is this a new addition?
It is much more convenient to use the large search box on my BT page as the cursor is placed there by default.
Obviously I don't want to people to track my searches although I have been using non-encrypted http for years. However, is there any way I can set my BT search panel to https or to tell Firefox that https should be used on that page? Probably not.
As a last resort, is there any way I can turn off this annoying warning?

Unless you actually use the Shockwave (director) player for some certain games or interactive learning things, you may not likely need it compared to the Flash Player anyways. So you might as well uninstall it versus having to keep it updated.

  • How can I convert JPG files in multiple subfolders into PDFs with a batch?

So here's the situation. I'm sitting on 400+ files, each in its own individual subfolder which also contains 4-10 other files. Those files I don't care about, only the .jpg file. I want to be able to take all of those .jpg files and convert them into PDFs, saving them in the same original folder. I've tried making an action to do this but it selects all the files in the folder and converts them as well.

Should be, yes... It's one of the options of the batch processes. I believe
it's under the first step, the one where you select which folder/files to
process. There should be a window there to select which file types to
process as well. Untick everything except for JPG and it should work...

  • Problem in opening PDF files using Reader 8 when created with iText 2.1.3

We are facing problem in using IText version 2.1.3. We are using Acrobat Reader 8.1 for viewing the PDF documents. In our Shell program we are splitting and merging the pdf documents using IText. The pdf document works correctly and is readable for documents with one page while it fails for documents with multiple pages. Also please note that it works fine with the older Arcobat reader version say version 7.0 and below but since business has migrated to acrobat higher version we expect IText to work in sync.
We have already raised a bug with the iText and got the information from them stating that the problem is due to the over nesting of XObjects, which has a threshold value of 50 and was discarded in earlier versions but got flagged in Acrobad Reader 8. Also note that we have reported a bug with the adobe development team.
We tried working with other Java PDF tools (jPDFProces), to manupulate the pdf files but were facing the same problem. Hence we understand that the problem is with Adobe Reader 8 as the manupulated pages are being viewed in Adobe Reader 7, but fails to read in Adobe Reader 8.
Kindly provide us with a solution.

  • When I try to open the downloaded file, a security warning restricts me from opening the file.

I have the new Motorola Bravo which is on the Android 2.1 system. When I try to open the downloaded file, a warning appears saying "This application comes from an unknown source, and for your security only applications from trusted sources can be installed". Is the download corrupt? I would think not, but I am very confused.

Unfortunately, AT&T disables the ability for its Android phones to install applications that aren't distributed through the Android Market.
If this phone is not AT&T-branded, then you might be able to enable "Non-Market sources" in the "Applications" section of the Settings app.
If it is, then you might be able to use the Android developer tool "adb" to install Firefox on your phone (search the web for instructions), or you can wait for our next beta release which should be available through the Market later this month.

Which version of Firefox do you have (Help > About Firefox) ?
You can get such a message if you are running a Firefox 3.5.x version.

You will no longer receive security updates for that version.<br />
