Downloading a RTF file

Hi,
Has anyone tell me what's wrong with my code? I'm trying to
download a RTF file but getting this message:
Internet Explorer cannot download file RequestForApproval.cfm
for server. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet
site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
My IE has the setting uncheck for 'Do not save encrypted
pages to disk'.
In my form, I have this link 'Download' as shown
<cfoutput><a class="bgWhite"
href="RequestForApproval.cfm?record=#URL.record#">Download
Form </a></cfoutput>
Attached is the RequestForApproval.cfm and
RequestForApproval.rtf, both are under the main application folder.
Thanks.

See slight changes, they may make a difference.
Are you certain that #thispage# contains a correctly formed
RTF file?
Is this in an issue in all browsers or just IE?
This article might help.

  • CF9 - display .rtf file inline (conversion to something else okay)

    Hello, everyone.
    Just wondering if there is a way to display an .rtf file in a browser?  Every method I've tried, so far, just asks the user to download the .rtf file.
    If I have to convert it to something else (like XML), first, I can do that.  The .rtf file does not reside in the filesystem, it's a binary in a BLOB in an Oracle database.
    Thank you,
    ^_^

    I'll look at the spec, thank you.
    I Googled:
    ColdFusion "convert rtf to xml"
    "convert rtf to xml"
    ColdFusion "display rtf inline"
    ... and a few others that I'm not recalling, right now.  Most of the links I found (99%) were for "FREE SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD", which I can't go anywhere near.
    One of the links was to a forum where someone mentioned what I posted, earlier, about converting to XML, then using some built-in CF XML tag to parse.  Can't find it, now, though.

  • Import template defined in rtf file to another rtf file in BI Publisher

    I have two RTF files:
    (1) summary.RTF
    (2) detail.RTF
    detail.RTF has template named “subreport” with following syntax:
    <?template:subreport?>
    <?end subreport?>
    I am importing and calling this template in summary.RTF.
    <?import:file:///C:/Hitesh/Work/detail.rtf?>
    & <?call-template:subreport?>
    The report is working fine with template builder (like in Word “Load XML” and then preview and two RTF files are at my local machine).
    Now,
    I have created one report in BI Publisher(10.1.3.2) named “Summary” in folder named “Test” to deploy my report.
    I have uploaded these two RTF to BI Publisher with name (1) summary & (2) detail.
    But it’s not showing the report because of invalid import syntax.
    I have tried following syntaxes for import,
    <?import:http://bipapp:7777/xmlpserver/~development/Test/Summary/Summary.xdo?_xt=Detail?>
    <?import:xdo:Detail.rtf?>
    <?import:http://bipapp:7777/xmlpserver/~development/Test/Summary/Detail.RTF?>
    But it’s not working.
    Clearly the problem is in the import syntax.
    Can anyone please help me to correct the import syntax?

    Hi Tim,
    Below is the URL when I enter in browser, it is asking for download "Detail.rtf".
    <?import:http://10.253.80.59:15101/xmlpserver/servlet/res?t=bin&f=/TestReport/StatementSummary/Detail.rtf?>
    so, i have placed this URL in Summary.RTF.
    Still it's giving error--> "Caused by: java.util.EmptyStackException"
    If I remove the import and call to "subreport" template, then summary is displaying wihout detail part. Further if I run Detail.RTF then it is also running individually.
    Now, I am thinking that the problem is with "?" (question mark symbol) in URL, so, I have tried another like below:
    <xsl:import href="http://10.253.80.59:15101/xmlpserver/TestReport/StatementSummary/StatementSummary.xdo?_xt=Detail"/>
    Here the url:
    http://10.253.80.59:15101/xmlpserver/TestReport/StatementSummary/StatementSummary.xdo?_xt=Detail
    If i execute this url in browser then it is rendering the Detail.rtf.
    This is also not working, it's giving following exception:
    "Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XMLParseException: End tag does not match start tag 'SCRIPT'."
    Thank you,
    Hitesh

  • Download and upload files

    Hi!
    I need to develop an application where the users want to be able do download a RTF document, modify it, and save it back into the application. I know how to download a RTF document, stored as a BLOB in a table, so the document opens in a new window and the user can change it. Now, I won't the user to save the file on the disk and then upload the file through the upload page in the application, but rather to just click "save" in MS Word and close it, and then somehow the file should automatically upload in the database. Does anyone ever created something like this, using some Java Applet on the client PC maybe?
    Thanks for help,
    Alen

    Hello Mradul
    Thanks for your answer. I deleted all history (both from
    Internet and flash player). Now I have no problem downloading files
    but Internet still crash when I uploading files (I have not tried
    the other suggetions). I use Vista 32-bits. Maby Acrobat.com, when
    using Flash player 10, requires Vista 64-bits to work without
    problem? What do you think.
    I read at Adobe troubleshooting about a similar problem; that
    Flash player causes Internet to crash or freeze. Maby I should
    inform Adobe support about my problem.
    Thanks

  • Euro sign in Report Query (RTF file)

    Hi all,
    I configured XML publisher as report server for report queries.
    All seems to work well, except printing of euro signs.
    When designing a template locally in word, everything works. When the RTF file is uploaded to apex and tested, the euro sign is displayed as a "?".
    All charactersets are WE8MSWIN1252 (Database + modplsql), but I'm not able to find any NLS setting in XML publisher.
    Anybody have experience with this?
    Regards Guido

    Guido,
    I agree with you that this is a BI Publisher problem. The problem does not only appear with ApEx, for example see
    Problem with symbol euro
    I guess you are running BI Publisher on a non Windows machine, so you have to register the true type font. To do this, refer to BI Publisher documentation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10091_01/doc/bip.1013/b40017/T421739T481157.htm#4535419
    (section External fonts).
    I haven't tried myself, but it seems that the only things you have to do is (copied from the docs):
    Place the font on the server.
    Place the font in a directory accessible to the formatting engine at runtime.
    Set the BI Publisher "font" property.
    You can set the font property for the report in the BI Publisher Font Mappings page, or in the configuration file.
    To set the property in the configuration file:
    Update the BI Publisher configuration file "fonts" section with the font name and its location on the server. For example, the new entry for a TrueType font is structured as follows:
    <font family="MyFontName" style="normal" weight="normal">
        <truetype path="\user\fonts\MyFontName.ttf"/>
    </font>Regards

  • Opening rtf file with images.

    My daughter getting file from a teacher that are save as .rtf. These files have pictures in them. I can download them and open them to my MacBook Pro and open them in word and they preview perfectly. My daughters MacBook doesn't have Word, she only has Pages and TextEdit. When she opens the rtf file there are no pictures. Is there something we are doing wrong or is this a bug with Pages??
    MacBookPro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    RTF handles pictures fine since version 1.0 of the RTF format specification, but for some reason Apple chose not to implement that part of the specification. They instead decided to go for rtfd as soon as pictures are involved.
    The problem of course is that you loose compatibility with the Windows world, which cannot read rtfd, but, as you correctly point out, Word format works fine to transfer that kind of data.

  • Textedit won't open .rtf files

    My boss wants me to open some .rtf files and convert them to word documents, but when I try to open the files text edit says it can't open them. What could be wrong?

    There may be something odd about them. Can TextEdit create and then read its own rft files?
    Anyway, you may do better to download NeoOffice (free) which may do better at opening them and can save in MSOffice format.

  • Got problems with creating RTF-files after OSX update

    Hi
    I don't know if this is really a MAC OS problem, but it occurred after I updated to 10.5.2 - so it's a likely suspect.
    Since the update I can't create RTF-files any more with Final Draft, my script writing program. A file is created, but when I try to open it I get an error message that it cannot be found. But the file is there: I can see it and click on it. It just won't open.
    Only today now I got the same error message with a doc-file I downloaded some months ago.
    The only big change I lately made to my Mac was the update to 10.5.2 and I got the new Office 2008 (both are the German versions). Could the problem come from either of them? I contacted Final Draft's support - they didn't know of the problem.
    Maybe someone else in this forum has encountered similar problems?

    Have you tried to Repair Permissions using Disk Utility?
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
    2. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
    3. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
    4. Click the repair permissions button.
    This is the first thing to try whenever any program goes wonky. It's free, but takes awhile for all the files that have to be checked and changed.

  • Opening rtf files on a playbook

    I purchased my Playbook in June 2011 and have nothing but disappointment.  I need to open rtf files and I am unable to. I contacted Dataviz(Docs to go) and was told the RIM was responsible for the application on the playbook and RIM told me to call them.  I just found out 5 min ago that RIM owns them.
    I downloaded Files and Folders as it said it could convert rtf files to docs through google docs......it didn't work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    I changed my BB Storm phone plan so I could tether my playbook to it but thats a confusing pile of dung.
    gmail keeps telling me that I lost connection so I just change to the desktop mode and its fine. Let alone the fact that its so slow its a waste of my time.
    I commented to RIM all this as well as the fact that a task with a due date won't show up on my calendar on my Playbook but it does show up on my Storm.  This still hasnt been corrected.
    The concepts here are great its to bad that they don't work.
    Can anyone help me.  I spent a lot of money on this and am feeling that I made a big mistake cancelling my order for an Ipad.   .

    This may be old news by now, but the "File Converter" app for Playbook solves the rft problem beautifully. Simply convert to .doc, etc. http://www.fileconverteronline.com/blackberry/

  • Programmatically add rtf hyperlink to rtf file

    I need to create a method that receive a string with a filepath and I have to update a rtf file inserting that string as a hyperlink. The problem is how to translate the filename into a clickable rtf link in C# to add it to the file. I tried to use a RichTextBox
    initializing the text property with the rtf file text but I don't know how to add the link. And I tried doing it directly in rtf but the link don't target to the filepath because I need a txfielddata with some kind of hexadecimal code that I don't know how
    to generate it. I'm totally stuck...
    Any idea?

    Hi anleopa,
    I think your main question is how to insert a hyperlink into .rft file via c#.
    When we try to add rtf formatted staff into the file, we need to write rtf code into the file. About rft code, please refer to
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10725
    And there is a great code sample(http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/98062/RTF-Document-Constructor-Library) which includes the implementation of inserting hyperlink
    to .rft file. Generally, we need to write something like:
    {\field{\*\fldinst HYPERLINK "http://www.microsoft.com"}{\fldrslt Microsoft}}
    into the file.

  • How to display a RTF file in the browser?

    Hi there,
    sorry 'bout my bad English.
    My jsp page have to get a rtf file and show it. Just setting the ContentPage to text/rtf, is it a solution?
    If not just that, what code I have to write? Let me know!
    Thanks

    I'm not sure if this can be done through JSP. You may need to write a servlet and set the mime type of the response to application/rtf. Then output the rtf text to the browser. Please let me know if you get this to work - I'm having a similar problem. Thanks.

  • Creation of .RTF file in java

    Hi,
    I want to create/edit .RTF file through java application. In my RTF file, I should be able to edit data(formatting), inserting tables. This is already done. Now I want to create chart (like pie-chart) using java. I searched the net for the last couple of days but I couldn't get the proper help. I can do that in SWING but its of no use.
    can anyone help me in this?

    Hi,
    Can someone please point me in the right direction? I'm trying to create an RTF file from data in a database, so I have no need to use JTextPanel or any GUI components. I've been trying to use the RTFEditorkit with a DefaultStyledDocument, but can only manage to insert one line into the document(!) Does anyone have any suggestions or examples that would explain how to do this?
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Could not overwrite rtf file on report template in BI Publisher

    Hi All,
    I want to upload the rtf file for Bi publisher report. There is already an rtf file and I have edited the file and want to overwrite it . It shows that the only way is to delete the template and again
    create the template by uploading the rtf file. I tried to overwrite the existing template with edited rtf but it shows the error. Is there any other options rather than deleting the template and uploading again for edited rtf file.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    it seems, sometimes everyone would like to draw a vertical reference line at the data date of a line chart, so I would like to bring this thread up again.
    I assume, that there is no vertical reference line on line, bar or area charts, because of the following reason: The vertical reference line is made for X1Axis; that's why it's called X1ReferenceLine. Line, bar and area charts don't have any X1Axis, but a O1Axis (ordinal axis):
    from Graph.dtd: "
    <!-- Ordinal axis on bar, line, area graphs-->
    <!ELEMENT O1Axis EMPTY >
    <!-- Horizontal data axis on bubble and scatter graphs; center point in
         polar graph-->
    <!ELEMENT X1Axis (ViewFormat?) >
    There is no such thing as <!ELEMENT O1ReferenceLine EMPTY > in Graph.dtd.
    Is there any other solution, why it seems not to be possible, to draw a vertical reference line on line charts?
    Kind regards,
    Tobias
    ps: Regarding the difference between X-Axis and ordinal axis, I take the explanation from http://goorman.free.fr/ZedGraph/zedgraph.org/wiki/index1240.html?title=What_does_%27Ordinal%27_mean%3F .
