Downloading Excel won't work in IE, but works in Netscape.

          I am trying to setup downloading an excel file from a java
          servlet. I have set the content type as follows.
          response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
          Note that, this works fine using Netscape. But with IE
          (6.0 / 5.5), it gives the following error:
          Microsoft Excel cannot access the
          file "https://servername.abc.com.......". There are
          several possible reasons:......
          Also, note that if I set the content type to text, then
          the data is properly displayed in the browser.

This is from and IIS page and I haven't tried in a servlet, but I expect the
          HTTPSerlvetResponse has similar functionality
          All thinigs seem to be need to be set correctly for it to work. Does this
          work in Nutscape 6? I've had to do similar stuff 6 to get it to work.

Hi Sheena,
After dowloading the CS5 Design Premium, I get an error messagin stating "A problem occurred while extracting the archive. Please try downloading the Adobe CS5 Design Premium again." I repeated this process multiple times (8) to no avail. I am trying to download the CS5 design premium on my new laptop, but don't have the software cds to do this. Thus, I can only download the software but after i download the two files required, that error message appears. (I already have my serial number). I have tried disabling my Antivirus as sometimes it detects the files as virus and removes them while downloading. I have also tried downloading after performing Selective Startup.
Can Adobe mail the software cds instead of sending download links?

Download Assistant won't work. Error 107.

Download assistant doesn't work. Login works okay but then I get "Error communicating with Adobe. Error 107. Restart download assistant." I'm on Windows XP 32 and restarting the assistant or the machine doesn't help. This worked fine last night but I had to clear some disc space, so I couldn't download last night. I'm trying to get AE 6.

That's probably the reason why Adobe Download Assistant is not letting you download.

TS1424 how to get a refund on a movie download that won't work

This is rediculous!! I downloaded a movie and it won't work on one computer. So I downloaded it on my laptop (which is under the same Id, same house everything!) and while the download completed I CANT WATCH IT!! I want my money back. To add to this frustration I can't contact anyone to help with this issue. I have to go on this forum. I want a refund. Forget the movie. This is stupid.

Java Plugin won't work in Netscape 7.1

I'm using Windows XP Home with Netscape 7.1, and the Java plugin won't work.
Java Plug-in 1.4.2_05 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper) is listed 7 times in Help>About:Plugins;
The Java Plugin works in Internet Explorer (I use the Test Java Virtual Machine to determine this). With Netscape, I just get the "Click here to get the plugin" window, and believe me, I've clicked here many times, and gone through the installation process, and it still doesn't work. I've uninstalled Java, rebooted, and installed it with the browsers closed, and it still doesn't work. Everything else in Netscape seems to be working properly.
Under Edit>Preferences>Advanced in Netscape I have "Enable Java" checked.
I posted this problem in the Windows-BBS Netscape and Mozilla forum, http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33994, and tried everything suggested there, but it still didn't work.
Anybody have any suggestions?

I was facing a similar problem. I think the problem is with different versions of JRE. For example, I was trying to associate with Netscape the JRE version of 1.4.2_01 without any success. But on associating jdk version 1.4.2_05, it started working fine.

I am running a Mac G5 with OS 10.5.8. I downloaded FF4, won't work on "this architecture" -- so what "architecture" will it run on? Normally a new application lists the requirements, but FF4 says "all apps, all computers, all everything."

I'm really angry about how this is working (or not working, actually). And every time I get a message from FireFox to "click here to do. . " it won't connect.

I just updated my iMac to Mountain Lion and now my 2004 Student/Teacher Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel) won't work. Do I need to update those apps to the Mac 2011 version?

Microsoft Office's 2011 version is compatible with Lion and presumably either works with Mountain Lion or an update will make it so. The problem with this approach is that Office 2011 will "convert" your earlier data files and there lies the rub! For example, I have the need to weekly open a chart created in Excel 2004, but Excel 2011 trashes the chart in its "conversion."
So I have approached the overall problem differently.
The reason your applications do not work in Mountain Lion is that they were written for the older PowerPC CPU that all Macs used up to 2006. When Apple made its transition to the Intel CPU, they licensed software that they included in all versions of OS X (from Tiger to Leopard and optionally, Snow Leopard) called Rosetta.
Rosetta miraculously allows PowerPC applications to work on the Intel processor transparently; you do not know it is even present.
The problem is that after 6 years of the transition, Apple's license to use the underlying software expired for OS X Lion and all version thereafter (and it is doubtful that the current owner of the software, IBM, would relicense it, even if Apple were inclined to do so).
So for those of use that need to run Lion, I have offered the option to install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7:

New 150/65 only at 94 Download AND Won't Work with Gigabit Switch

I just had this installed today, converting up from the 35/35, and ran into these two problems:
1. The 150 download is only resulting in a 94.87 Mpbs. The installer originally said it must be my PC NIC card, but I do have a GB card, so there's does not appear to be legitimate reason for the shortfall there. I tried to change the link speed and duplex from "auto negotation" to "1 Gbps Full Duplex," but then my computer no longer even could connect.
2. The second issue is that I have always run my connection through a D-Link DGS-2208 Gigabit Switch because I have multiple wired ethernet computers in my office. The installer wanted to test the connection speed directly through my computer (see above) and ran into problems, so I never even tried to revert to my original setup with the switch until he left. However, when I did the Gigabit switch does not even recognize any activity when I plug the source ethernet cord into the switch. It does recognize the connection to the PC and the port is lit, but no lights from connection to the wall.
Any thoughts on what the problems could be? I've included the "additional details" from the Fios Speed test at the standard site (can't get any details from the high speed version):

If your computer can't negotiate a 1Gbps connection, then that is what is limiting you to 94Mbps, which is about right for a "100Mbps" port.
There could be several reasons for this.
A bad NIC
A bad port on the switch
IMO, the most likely cause is a bad cable. 1Gbps requires all 4 pairs in the cable be connected. If only 2 of the 4 pairs are connected correctly, you will get a 100Mbps connect, but will not be able to connect at 1Gbps. Try replacing the cable with one known to work at 1Gbps.

HT1349 I just got iPad 3 and I am trying to download all app to my iPad it takes forever and for the one that finish downloading, it won't work when i tap on it. Anybody knows what is going on?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is absolutely safe.
Also try downloading another free app and then try again.

Download Manager won't work for me

I'm using Mac OS X 10.7.3 and our IT dept. doesn't want me to allow any automatic updates to it.
A message popped up on my screen saying that my Adobe apps have 21 updates waiting.
So I go to my Applications folder and double click Adobe Creative Cloud and nothing much happens.
Then I go and double click the download assistant which tells me it has an update, showing the following message:
But whenever I try to allow the update I always get the following error message:
So, then I try to just log in to my account through the Download Assistant, but I always get this error message:
So I try clicking the "Trouble signing in?" link which only takes me to my Creative Cloud dashboard. I can sign in to my account with no problem using browsers, but I can't do it through the Download Manager.
Does anyone know how to fix any of this? Or at least know what it all means?

Downloaded songs won't work

ok so i downloaded songs from the itunes store and put it on my ipod and they worked at first but now when i try and listen to them they just skip over each other until it reaches the end and then it goes back to the main menu. Can anyone please tell me whats goin on?

Downloaded game won't work properly on my iPod Nano

I downloaded the game "Monopoly" and synced it to my iPod Nano 4th generation, but it doesn't work properly. I searched the apple site and found out that if the section "Games" doesn't appear under the "Devices" heading, then the game is not compatible with the iPod model. However, on iTunes, it says Monopoly is compatible with iPod nano (3rd & 4th gen.), iPod classic and iPod (5th gen.).
Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

Have you trying your restoring your iPod. Keep in mind that by doing this is will erase everything on the iPod so make sure all your files are backed up on iTunes or on your computer somewhere. For step-by-step instructions on restoring your iPod, see the link below. Then try resyncing the game as well as your music. If all else fails, you may be able to contact Apple about redownloading the game. Hope this helps.

Why downloaded ringtone won't work with a contact on iphone5

I downloaded a ringtone and associated it with my sons number-he changed services to AT&T and has a new number. I can not get that ringtone to work with his new number, Why? It shows up and works in tones...is checked off for his ringtone, but will not work.
Actually, just tested....can not get ANY ringtones to work for his number!!

When he calls, does his name show up on the screen for the Caller ID? Have you tried completely deleting his contact and then adding it back as new? If you want before doing that, after you have changed his ringtone, do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, see if the ringtone works for his calls.

Downloading song, won't work!

I am new to I-tunes. I just bought a song that won't download. The message tells me to "heck purchases." When I do that, it tells me that the files may be corrupted. How do I take care of this?

Deleting and downloading usually works. If the problem persists contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

Downloaded Movies won't work or play in iTunes

I'm running the latest version of iTunes, and am on Windows 7. I have a bunch of movies that are in my movies library on my computer hard drive, but when I try to open the movie file with iTunes, nothing happens. All the movies are in MP4 or M4V files too.
