Has anyone tried downloading a .gif image using servlet/jsp ??!?

Yes, there's even an example in my book about servlets.

    can anybody send me the code to upload image from client to server using servlet/jsp.
    i'm using tomcat server.

    You can use the [Apache Commons FileUpload API|http://commons.apache.org/fileupload/] to upload files using Java.
    Here is a Filter example which uses the FileUpload API to process the request and stores the regular request parameters back in the ParameterMap of the request and puts the uploades files as attributes of the request: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/11/multipartfilter.html] Just define it once in web.xml and you can continue writing the servlet logic as usual.

    Downloading images used to go automatically to the last folder used to save images, even when reopening Firefox. In just the past few days, possibly coinciding wih the most recent updates, the folder defaults to the 'Downloads' folder. This is most annoying. What happened? Internet Explorer 8.0 did the same thing. This was one of the reasons why I started using Firefox to download all images. I went into Tools>Options and it only lets me set another folder. I dont want to set a specific folder I want it to always go to the last folder used. So what gives?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == possibly when the most recent updates were installed, a few days ago

    Thanks jscher 2000. I guess I didn't make it clear. "It restarts with all the addons activated, and resumes with the tabs that were open before closing it." IE, it's running fine now with all the extensions activated. Everything is OK now.
    So something in the Firefox code was causing the bad behavior. It's not essential that I find out what the problem was - I'm just curious. And if anybody else has this same problem, it might be nice to have it corrected at the source.

  • Getting absolute path of a file in a webapp without using servlet/JSP

    Hi all,
    I need a small clarification. Is it possible to reterive the absolute path of a file present in a tomcat web application without using Servlet/JSP. I have a normal java class which uses this file to read the configuration parameters. I like to know whether I need to create a seperate servlet which will read the parameters from web.xml.

    I like to know

  • How to display RTF File in Browser Using Servlets/JSPs

    Hi All,
    I have some RTF Files, which contains some data.
    The data needs to be displayed in the frame of jsp page .
    How i can display the RTF File Content using either servlets/jsps
    Can any body have idea on this.
    Help me out on this.
    With Regards
    Hari

    If you only need to display it, consider your HttpServletRequest just as byte stream. :) Just read from ServletInputStream and write it back into ServletOutputStream of HttpServletResponse.
    If you want to process incoming XML, please give some details first, what exactly you want to do. :)

  • Problems with dating downloaded images using Image Browser

    When I download a day's pictures with Image Browser to my Mac, and some images were taken before 5 p.m. and some after 5 p.m., any of them taken after 5 p.m.  are kicked into the next day's folder on my computer.
    My camera and computer dates are correct. Time zone (Pacific) is correct. Even my tech savvy son can't figure this one out. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

    Hey RJ, I was able to create it no problem using either Rectangle Tool with 10px roundness (left), or the the Rounded Rectangle Tool (right).
    See live example here with drop shadow.
    Download original sample file here.
    Couple of tips to remember.
    - Use .jpg (100 quality) or png for each of the slices for them to show 'smoothly'. (I notice your screen example uses .gif, and it's not recommended when drop shadows are used)
    - For the top/bottom make sure the slice extends just a tab bit beyond where the 'corner' on the shape occurs. Thats why your seeing a little 'extra' graphic on your edges.
    hope this helps

  • Upload and Download images using API

    Hi
    I have an image catalog database where the actual images are stored on the database server filesystem and reduced size images are uploaded into the database. The user can browse and search the image catalog and see the reduced size images.
    I have created a collection to store the filenames of selected images (the user selects the images he likes, much like a shopping cart) and I would like to be able to get the corresponding full size images from the server to the client (which are not stored in the database but have the same filename in a folder in the OS).
    I am using XE so don't have room to store the full size images in the catalog.
    I need this to work at the click of a button on the apex form - say the user does a kind of checkout procedure and the files he needs are delivered to his desktop or memory stick or wherever.
    For this button process is it best to
    1) upload the big images into the database (temporarily) and then download them to the client before deleting them from the database - I can do the multi upload from pl/sql but not sure how to do the download.
    or
    2) write some kind of OS batch file to copy the files from the server to the client
    Any help gratefully received.
    I'm using Apex 3.1 on 10g XE on Windows XP
    Thanks
    Kathryn

    Hi
    I don't think bfiles will solve my problem. I need to get a file from a directory on the server to a user specified directory on the client. The database can't write bfiles to the client PC (security). I don't even need the files to be in the database.
    I'd like my applcation to either
    1) write a batch file and then run it. The contents of the batch file will be the copy commands to copy files form server to client
    or
    2) upload the files from the server directory into the database and then the use can download them to wherever he likes - but I need to do multiple files with just one click of a button by the user and the process needs to do the following steps : upload from server, download to client, delete from database
    I think I can do option 2) using Denes' code but it seems a bit OTT and a lot of database work just to copy some OS files.
    Just wondered if anyone else has done something similar

  • Loading a specific image using servlets

    Hello,
    I have a question regarding a servlet and my HTML. In my HTML page I should load/ reaload some GIF images that are being dynamically created on the serves: drawn with Java 2 D and afterwards GIF encoded. response.setContentType("image/gif");
    GifEncoder encoder = new GifEncoder(img, out);
    in the servlet GraphicServlet.java, for example.
    In my HTML page I want to load this image that is being formed on the server. Here's that piece of code:
    <td><A HREF="http://localhost:8080/servlet/mypackage.myServlet?Nothing! onMouseover="ddrivetip('Click to draw a selected shape', 'yellow', 250)";
    onMouseout="hideddrivetip()">
    <img WIDTH=375 HEIGHT=250 BORDER=0 src="<%
    if (request.getParameter("string")!=null)
    out.print((String)request.getParameter("string"));
    else
    out.print("http://localhost:8080/servlet/mypackage.GraficServlet?undo");
    %>" ISMAP/></a></td>
    The thing is that I want to load in HTML page in a table the image splitted on the the server. Every cell of the table is a part of the image. My question is how I can do that? Assign an id to every part and load that? What parameted should I pass between the HTML page and the server in order to be able to do that? How can I do in order to be able to reload in the browser only that piece of image that suffered modifications?
    Thank you in advance.
    Dani

    Hello,
    I will try to explain in a better way.
    At the present moment the application behaves as it follows:
    1.The Server creates the image and encodes it into GIF
    2. Html displays this image as a server side image map
    3. The image is dynamically umpated in the browser, being modified by user interactions, and modifications are sent to the server
    4. On the server I am splitting this image in subimages (for example, a grid of 4 equal tiles)
    What I'm indending to do is:
    1. What I am trying to do is display in a table in the browser the subimages, each cell holding one part of the entire image, and I don't know what parameter I should use and how, as a selection of the sub-image.
    Here's the fragment where I am loading the entire image in the browser. I don't know how I should modify that in order to be able to load the certain parts on the original images in a table, in my HTML page.
    <td><img WIDTH=375 HEIGHT=250 BORDER=0 src="<%
    if (request.getParameter("string")!=null)
    out.print((String)request.getParameter("string"));
    else
    out.print("http://localhost:8080/servlet/mypackage.GraficServlet?undo");
    %>" ISMAP/></td>
    Thank you, once again.

    Give this a try:
    File strFile = new File(strFileName);
    long length = strFile.length();
    response.setContentType("application/octet-stream");
    response.setContentLength((int)length);
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", ("attachment; filename=" + strFileName));
    OutputStream out = response.getOutputStream();
    BufferedInputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(strFile));
    int i = -1;
    while((i = in.read()) != -1) out.write(i);
    in.close();

  • How to create crystal reports using servlets/jsp

    plase any body help me how to create and interact with crystal reports using java

    To use the inproc RAS SDK with CR.NET, you'd have to purchase either (1) Crystal Reports XI Release 2 Developer edition, and apply Service Pack 2 or above, or (2) Crystal Reports 2008 (not Crystal Reports Basic that comes with Visual Studio 2008).

  • Download Multiple Files?? (Servlets/Jsp)

    Hello Forum Members,
    I need to download multiple files from Server on a single click of button thats says "download". Using Servlets/Jsp only( I don't want to use applets/or Zip the files).
    The scenario would be on the browser I will have 'n' number of checkboxes each corresponding to a file and there is a button that say's download. Once I click "download" the browser should prompt me to save in a directory.

    I don't know if there's a Java implementation already out there (i'm sure there must be), but I think you'd need a separate Download Manager to be able to handle multiple file downloads. I'm all but positive that the standard download isn't gonna cut it, especially if the user selects a whole bunch of files. I don't think the built in download function allows for more than one file to download at a time, so unless you want a whole bunch of download windows all going at once, you'll need to either find (or implement) something that can.
