Well, you can cancel your Snow Leopard order if it hasn't already shipped. You need not wait on it as you can download Mountain Lion now that you have a redemption coupon (I assume that's what you meant by the email.)
After Mountain Lion is installed you can download a free copy of Mavericks. This all assumes that your computer meets the requirements for Mountain Lion.
Before you do any upgrade I strongly urge you to do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Personally, I would erase the hard drive then install the new OS X version. First, make a backup of your files from which you can later restore.

    Delete the App Store app by dragging it and dropping it into the Trash.  Then download and install the appropriate update combo for your version of OS X;
    Install new MAS app -

  • Error message when trying to download from Mac App Store

When I try to download an app in the Mac App Store I get an error message:  "We could not complete your purchase.  Error Unknown."  Sometimes it says: "There is an error in the Mac App Store".  This has been going on for a couple of days now.  I have tried signing out of the Mac App Store, logging out of my User Account, and then signing back in, as has been suggested in other threads.  But that did not work.
    Suggestions?

Here is an update and more information:  I actually have two MBP's.  One is a mid-2009 model and one is a new, mid-2012.  I transferred files from the mid-2009 to the mid-2012, but I use both computers frequently.  This problem only occurs on the mid-2009 and not on the mid-2012.  I have authorized both computers.

This morning I downloaded some software through the Mac App store for my Epson printer.  Now the printer will not work and I keep getting an error message.  In part, I believe it says printer filter failed.  How do I fix this and get the printer to work again?

Open System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
Select the printer then click -   (minus)
Now restart your Mac, turn the printer off wait ten seconds then turn it back on.
Then go back to System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print and click + to reinstall the printer.

  • Can't download the mac app store?

I went to ''Software Update'' and everything, and it still isn't working. I've done it over and over. Please help.

You didn't say what operating system you have, however, assume you have Snow Leopard 10.6, since OS X Leopard 10.5 and earlier can't access the mac app store.
You need to have OS X 10.6.6 Snow Leopard or later for the mac app store application to work. You can download the combo 10.6.8 update from  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 which will have the mac app store application included.

  • Downloading purchased Mac App Store Apps separately.

Hello, I recently tried to download Xcode 4.1.1 from Mac App Store from my Mac Lion. Due to my Internet connectivity issues, my Internet Connection gets disconnected after a few hours. Therefore when I started downloading Xcode 4.1.1 from Mac App Store when it roughly downloaded around 300 MB, my connection got disconnected and suddenly a popup returned an error like "Hash not matching" or something. When I again started to download, it started from again.
This is very annoying. Is there any way to solve this or download these apps from separately without Mac App Store ??

  • Why isn't OS X Mountain Lion not downloading from Mac App Store?

    Hi all,
I have recently downloaded the OS upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store for £13.99, and it is't downloading. Since purchasing I have received the bill from Apple outlining I have purchased the item. But nothing has happened as yet. I have looked under purchases in the Mac App Store and it just shows the progression bar...
    79.3 MB of 4.37 GB - Calculating...
I have restarted my IMac many times and still nothing!!!
What can I do?? I have the icon for Mountain Lion in the dock but the only options available I can see are... Pause, or Cancel Download.
    Please help!!!
I am running Mac OS X  version 10.6.8
    Thanks in advance

It looks stuck, and at this point, you probably ought to cancel the download and start it over again. (No worries about paying again... once you buy something in the App Store, you own it for as long as it stays in the store and can re-download it all you like.)
Also, before you consider installing the upgrade, note that there are some things you should do:
    1) Check all your software for compatibility with the new system.
    2) Repair the hard drive with Disk Utility.
    3) Make a full backup of your whole system using Time Machine.
    4) Ideally, make a second full backup of your whole system using something else, like Carbon Copy Cloner. (I consider two backups to be the minimum.)
    5) Wait until you have time to deal with any possible problems that crop up.
    6) Install the upgrade.
Some people recommend erasing your hard drive and installing the new system "cleanly." That certainly helps ensure that you don't have any problems with the new system, but is often unnecessary. I prefer to save clean installs for when they are actually necessary, but that is only an opinion. You can certainly choose to do a clean install if you prefer.

  • Lion download on mac app store not showing progress

    Hi,
I kind need a help. I download the lion, but it's not showing any download progress bar on the Purchased tab. Even if i try to pause the download, I'm not able to resume it again. I try downloaded other apps and it works fine, I can see the download progress and able to pause-resume it.
Anybody experience the same with me ?
    thank you.

    Hi ...
Your profile indicates you have v10.8.3 installed on your Mac.
If that is the case, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed. The Mac App Store red badge icon should be available in the Dock for updates. Also for Notifications.
If you have problems using Software Update, a workaround is to install the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo)
Make sure and restart your Mac after the combo is installed.

  • How can I copy installation/setup files of an App downloaded from Mac App Store?

I just purchased and downloaded Xcode on my Macbook Pro and now want to install the same on my MacBook Air and iMac but I don't want download them again and again. Isin't their anyway by which I can copy the installation/setup files of that App and paste it on another Mac and use my iTunes account credentials to verify the App with Apple servers, so that they know it's legit install. And also keep the copy as backup so that, I can install that App again after I format my computer or use it for future use.
I live in a third world country and aren't blessed with high speed and unlimited bandwidth connection.

    Issue solved:
Answer found in Apple FAQ's site: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4482
The Mac App Store remembers all apps you purchase with your account. Apps you purchase and install from Mac App Store can also be copied to an external hard drive, USB Flash Drive, CD/DVD, or backed up via Time Machine.
If you save a copy of an app to removable media (such as an external hard drive) or file share, simply drag the app back from its storage location to your Applications folder. When you open the restored app for the first time, you may be required to sign in with the Apple ID account that was used to purchase the app.

  • Why is Logic pro (downloaded from mac app store) asking me for a serial number?

I recently bought this mac and haven't had any previous downloads on it. I've managed to download and install logic pro as well as the 2GB "essential" add-on. As I clicked to download the additional 19GB of extras it asked me for a serial number that it says would be on my packaging. I obviously don't have this. I quit logic and tried to open it again and it is asking me for the serial number just to get into logic. Really stuck on this one.

It's compatible. Note that there's an App Store (for iPhones, iPads and iPods touch) and a Mac App Store (for Macs, available since Mac OS X 10.6.6). Just open the Mac App Store and purchase Logic Pro 9

  • How to download through Mac App Store if on 10.6.8?

    Hi!
I got a clean new install of OS 10.6.8 on my laptop (i CANT upgrade to Lion, as i NEED Rosetta for my old Imacon scanner software).
Previously I purchased iWork components through App Store. Now i can't download them - there is no download button, only a "OS 10.7 required" message.
Now, as I said before, i don't wan't and can't upgrade as it will negatively affect my productivity.
Does that mean that I lost access to my legally purchased Apple software?
Even if i try to find a trial version somewhere, I dont have a serial number, as, again, I purchased iWork on Mac App Store.
Is there any solution for my trouble?
    Thank you!

I think you have to talk to the App Store about it.

  • Where is my download from Mac App Store

I just purchased Logic Pro 9x from the app store, and unfortunately, it did an install, which I did not want to happen...anyway just a few questions:
    1. Typically where are the downloaded files incase I need to install again for some reason
    2. Typically where are the collection of instruments that downloaded when i started the program
    3. I was under the impression that I would run Logic 8x and Logic 9x separately. Is this not the case?
    4. Am I to assume that once I purchase something from the App store, I can download it ANYTIME I need to....forever?
Sorry for the questions that might seem obvious to many of you. I am a Windows user, who only turns on the Mac Pro to do music.......
Thanks in advance for your help...!
    Chaz

Most apps from the Mac App Store (MAS) are downloaded and installed as a drag & drop app into the Applications folder. There is no further installation needed and authorization of the purchase is authorization of installation.
Large apps may be downloaded as an installer app that appears in the Applications folder and opens automatically soon after the download completes, however it proceeds no further in the installation process without your authorization to do so. You may elect to quit the installer and run it later. These installers often self-delete after they have completed the installation. If you wish to install the app again, you will need to either make a duplicate of the installer before you run it the first time and store it or redownload the installer as needed in the future.
I believe that if you right click over the app's icon you will see a contextual menu that offers Show package contents as an option. Choosing this option should reveal that the app has associated folders, typically plug-ins, presets, etc. The instruments may be in one of those folders.
Usually a new paid upgrade to an app does not replace the previous version of the app. So Logic v8 and v9 should be able to exist as individual apps in the Apps folder. But there is no guarantee that OS X would not become confused by this or that the apps for some reason may not try to share their associated resources. A minor update, however, ( v 8.6 -> v 8.7) does replace the previous version.
Apple constantly tells folks to make back up copies of their apps because there is no guarantee that an app will always be available for download in the future. And the app available in the MAS is usually only the most recent version. Previous versions then become unavailable for future download. And newer versions may be restricted to only run in the most recent version of OS X.
