  • Trying to drag and drop a text parameter, but it only applies to one letter

    Hiya,
    In Motion 3, you could drag and drop a Text - Style Parameter to another text object.
    Now, in Motion 4, when I try to drag a Parameter it only applies to the first letter of my text object.
    So when I drag my Glow from one object to another, my Bleary In Behavior has a blue glow on T in THIS and a yellow glow on HIS in THIS.
    I'm guessing this has to do with the ability to adjust each letter with the glyph tool. However, it won't allow me to drag the Parameter to each individual letter...
    Which I see a need for...
    But why would I want to do a time consuming thing like that?
    It's stupid.
    Any advice is much appreciated!
    Thank you

    Well, I'm not sure what to say. I can't replicate your problem. I can drag the outline parameters onto a text object in the viewer, layers pane, or timeline and it copies it exactly as it did in Motion 3, over the entire text object.
    However, if I have the glyph tool selected and try to do the same thing, it crashes Motion 100% of the time.
    Neither situation is what you're reporting though. It helped me find a bug, and something to avoid however.

  • Drag and drop external text into a Flex component

    Hi,
    is there any way to allow drag and drop of external text (for
    example, selected text from another browser or even from the
    address bar) into a Flex component like TextArea? I know how to
    drag and drop between two different Flex components but in this
    case, the source is external. There must be something I can do to
    TextArea like its dragdrop property to allow this feature... any
    help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Short answer: Yes, as long as it is an AIR app.
    Browser-based Flex apps do not have access to
    ClipBoardFormats, so I'm not sure it is possible to do what I think
    you want to do -- have a web-based Flex app that allows you to drag
    and drop selected text from other apps. Most possibly because of
    the security sandbox that the Flash player runs in.
    However, if you wanted to do it in an AIR app, I built this

  • Drag and drop the text and image

    Hi,
    I need help in drag and drop text and image.
    I am able to drag and drop the text and image in doc but  i want to drag the text in text frame and image in image frame only.
    For this how to get textframe id or is there any other way to do this. Pls help me if anyone know how to do this one.
    Thanks

    This thread is pretty old, but this can help anyone in the future:
    To handle a drop in InDesign, you have to implement your own custom CDragDropTargetFlavorHelper. You can find a working example in SDK Sample. Take a look at BasicDragDrop.sdk project in the SDK.

  • Drag and drop a text

    Bonjour,
    Est il possible de faire drag and drop d'une zone text sous CVI?
    Cordialement.

    Hi,
    I guess I have to correct myself - the initial answer was the result of a quick experiment using one of my programs. So by default drag and drop is not enabled for strings. However, there is a function in the toolbox library that promises to enable Windows drag and drop, EnableDragAndDrop (int panelHandle).

    PS: The attribute ATTR_ENABLE_DRAG_DROP is avalable only for tree items and tab pages.

  • Drag and drop text fields

    Hey.  trying to drag and drop a text field.  So I have created a text field, and saved it as a swf.  I then load it in using xml and the loader class.  When I go to pick it up, i get the error
    TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.text::TextField@10d59b51 to flash.display.Sprite.
        at GalleryNew_fla::MainTimeline/pickUp()[GalleryNew_fla.MainTimeline::frame1:81]
    It is specifically pointing to
    function pickUp(event:MouseEvent):void {
        getPosition(event.target);
        stage.addChild(event.target as DisplayObject);
        Sprite(event.target).startDrag(true);
    Should I be casting it to something else or something?
    cheers

    I will try and explain what I am doing better, because I am problably doing this tottally wrong, I am just mixing a lot of code to get something together.
    Basically, I have several buttons.  If a button is pressed, it displays objects in a sort of holder.  These objects might be images, animations etc.  When these are placed in the holder, they can be dragged and dropped.  If they are not dropped in the right location, they go back to their position in the holder.
    So, my first two buttons work great.  These just deal with images.  button5, which I am working on now, is dealing with textfields.  So, it should load my textfield swfs, place them in the holder, and made to be drop and draggable.  Problem is, I am using the code which i used for the images, which is where I might be going wrong.
    If I show you the code, maybe you could suggest a better way to do things

    can't drag and drop after update

    hi Dustin, maybe with a bit more info someone will be able to help with this:
    what Mac OS System version are you using?
    what is it you are 'dragging and dropping'? : Is this drag and drop of text in InDesign? Or are you dragging and dropping from the Mac OS (e.g. a file from a folder) into InDesign?
    If you are referring to drag and drop from OS into InDesign: I'm thinking this 'might' be a Mac OSX issue. If you look over at https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa there seem to be plenty of issues with drag and drop across different OS versions.
    Next time it stops working whilst you are in InDesign, does it still work in other programs? That is one way of determining if this is caused by InDesign or the operating system. If it is the OS, my guess is that it stops working in other applicaitons as well.

  • Drag and drop to apply color to art.

    Hi All,
    I am designing a panel for Illustrator CS6 that displays colors in a datagrid as follows,
    [Color] [Color_Name]
    I want to be able to apply color to any art by using the drag-n-drop from the panel to the document. Is it possible that I am able to detect the art on which the color was dropped so that I can apply the color?
    Thanks!

    I came upon the NativeDragManager class of the CS Extension. We can use it to drag and drop objects from the panel to the application document. For this we use the ClipBoard and specify the format of the clipboard data. There are quite a few formats, namely, bitmap, text, url, file, etc. However, I couldn't use any of these so that I might drag a color from my panel to the document.
    Here is a code to drag and drop a text from panel to document,
    var clip:Clipboard = new Clipboard();
    clip.setData(ClipboardFormats.TEXT_FORMAT, designsDG.selectedItem.Colors);
    var allowedActions:NativeDragOptions = new NativeDragOptions();
    NativeDragManager.doDrag(designsDG.selectedItem as InteractiveObject, clip);
    Here designsDG is the datagrid containing the text.
    How can I do something similar for a color object?
    Any inputs?

  • How to drag and drop a swing component that can make it behave like Visio.

    1) How to make a JComponent drag and drop that behave like visio? I understand it's possible to drag and drop a text or image, but no idea on how to do that on JComponent. 2) After the JComponent is dragged and dropped, how to make the JComponent to be able to resize by the user using mouse 3) The area that the JComponent dropped should it be GrassPane, LayerPane, or ContentPane?

    I see where you're going. I'm drawn to Thunderbird because it puts open emails in separate tabs, which makes finding a particular open message easier than searching the task bar for an open outlook message. I do see your point that tab happy programmers, probably too young to remember how cool we thought drag and drop was when it first came out, don't think much of it. As with a lot of software, each programmer has a very limited view of how it their program should be used vs how it is actually used in the wild.
    People work in different ways. When I schedule an appointment with a client, this is often preceded by a series of emails related to whatever the client wants to discuss. I drag and drop those messages into the appointment window so that on the date of the appointment, I have a nice neat summary of the issues right there in the appointment window. I could use workarounds (save email and then attach to the appointment), but that's like a trip back to Windows 3.0 and it's, if I'm not mistaken, 30+ years later. I guess I'll continue to use Tbird for email and outlook for calendar, not my preferred solution, I'd like to flip MS the bird and cut all ties to outlook, and was hoping Tbird was the solution. Not yet, and perhaps not ever, based on your thoughts.

    This has been going on for a while.  I am working in Indesign then all of the sudden all my drag and drop cappabilities are gone.  i have to restart my computer to fix the problem and being that the start up times for the cc software is outragous,  this sucks for my workflow.  I have seen Adobe techs say that there isn't a difference in the backend between 6 and cc for the whole suite but seeing is believing and I don't make things up.

  • A drag and drop game with dynamic text response

    Hi,
    I am a teacher and my school has recently upgraded to Adobe Design Premium.  Our previous version was about 5 versions out of date.
    I teach A Level which requires students to create an Interactice Multimedia product.
    In the previous 6 years, I have taught students how to create simple drag and drop game with dynamic text responses.
    Since the upgrade to Actionscript 3.0 the dynamic text response has ceased working.
    When creating the game from scratch, I need to move to Actionscript 2.0 as 3.0 does not allow me to add actionscript to objects - I know and am sure that this is a better way of doing things, but I would prefer to keep working the way I am used to.
    I use a switch case statement which I have copied below to make the drag and drop work.  The objects I apply the code to work in that they can be dragged, however, my dynamic text box with a variable name of "answer" is no longer displaying the response when an answer is left on a dropzone (rectangle converted to a symbol and given an instance name).
    on(press) {
    startdrag(this);
    on(release) {
    stopdrag();
    switch(this._droptarget) {
      case "/dropzoneB":
       _root.answer="Well done";
       break;
      case "/dropzoneA":
      case "/dropzoneC":
       _root.answer="Hopeless";
       break;
      default:
       _root.answer="";
       break;
    Any help would be much apeciated.
    Thanks
    Adrian

    To drag in as3
    blie_btn is the instance of the object drawin on the stage. In AS3 you have to assign a even listener, in this case MOUSE_DOWN, and MOUSE_UP, as we want the drag to stop if the mouse is not clicked. Then we fire the functions, and tell the object to start drag.
    // Register mouse event functions
    blue_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
    blue_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler);
    red_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
    red_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler);
    // Define a mouse down handler (user is dragging)
    function mouseDownHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
         var object = evt.target;
         // we should limit dragging to the area inside the canvas
         object.startDrag();
    function mouseUpHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
         var obj = evt.target;
              obj.stopDrag();
    if you want to make the text do what you want then something like this might work.
    In the function, you could add a text box onto the stage, give it a instance of something like outputText
    and then:
    outputText = ("Bla Bla Bla");
    (^Not sure if this will work exactly^)

  • How to add text to a drag and drop object

    Hi everyone, I am quite a beginner with Flash so do excuse
    me. First, I am not sure if what I want to achieve may actually be
    impossible with Flash. I presently use MX 2004, but will shortly be
    upgrading to CS3. But if you know the answer for MX 2004 that would
    be really useful for now.
    I am writing a digital fiction story, and I want to create
    drag and drop objects. This I have managed to do. But I would like
    these drag and drop objects to also reveal text when they are
    actually pressed on. I have had no success so far in being able to
    achieve the two effects together.
    Does anyone know how I can achieve this? If, by chance, you
    know the action script that would be great. If you can explain to
    me in simple terms how I can achieve this I really would be
    grateful.
    Thanking you,
    Mary

    The script I posted would work on the main timeline - not in
    the timeline of the clip itself.
    So you made a movieclip out of the image and gave it the
    instance name "myclip". That's good.
    You edited that clip and added a dynamic text box with
    instance name "mytext". Be careful not to confuse the "instance"
    name of the text box with the "Var:" name. "myclip" should be the
    instance name. Also be careful to make sure you uncheck the
    "selectable" box. Edit your clip and click on the textbox to select
    it and look in the properties panel. There should be a button with
    Ab on it. If it is white background (highly likely), click it so it
    is not white. If the text is selectable, it will interfere with
    your button functions.
    While there is nothing wrong with creating nested clips
    within your movieclips, unless you plan to target them for
    something, there is no benefit. The only thing that needs an
    instance name inside the myclip is the textbox (based on what you
    are trying to do).
    You don't need any actionscript in the movieclip itself. If
    you can learn to place all your AS on the root timeline, you will
    be well ahead.
    If you placed that AS inside the clip, Flash wouldn't know
    what to do with it.
    Technically you can place the AS inside the clip on the layer
    you created but, if you did that, you would need to modify the
    script to the following:
    this.onPress = function() {
    this.mytext.text = "stop pressing so hard";
    startDrag(this);
    this.onRelease = function() {
    this.mytext.text = "";
    stopDrag();

  • Rollover text on a drag and drop object

    Hi folks, I wondered if someone could help me with this

    the press of a button and release of a button. This week, I am
    trying to get the drag and drop object to reveal text when the

    it should be pretty easy to fathom out the script for this, because
    I was given a lot of help last week. But I put in the attached
    code, and the object does not drag and drop, and neither does it
    show any text when the mouse rolls over it and off it.

    it and look in the properties panel.
    Technically you can place the AS inside the clip on the layer
    you created but, if you did that, you would need to modify the
    script to the following:
    this.onPress = function() {
    this.mytext.text = "stop pressing so hard";
    startDrag(this);
    this.onRelease = function() {
    this.mytext.text = "";
    stopDrag();

  • Downloads dragged and dropped from Firefox download window into Outlook e-mail show as file location text.

    I have a user who normally can drag files from Firefox's Download window into an e-mail in Outlook and it creates an attachment of that file in the e-mail. However, lately, the dragged .pdf or whatever file only shows up as a text file location like:
    \\file:%Downloads%\randomfile.pdf
    It's not a link either, it's just the text.
    I've tried doing a repair of Outlook.
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 19.
    I've tested dragging items from the desktop to the e-mail and it works fine.
    I can't drag and drop from the Downloads window to the desktop.
    I just wanted to add this user is using Windows XP Pro.

    I can confirm that this is an issue with the newest release of Firefox. I just upgraded my Firefox, which was previously 18.02 to 19.0 and now I'm getting the same error. It's a bug.
