Drag and Drop Scrolling

When typing in a text box in a web browser, such as blogger or Hotmail, when we try to drag and drop text or images from one location to another that is off-screen, the computer will not automatically scroll when the image is dragged to the bottom of the text box. We are forced to drag to the bottom, scroll down, drag to the bottom, scroll down and repeat until we have it where we want it. Is there an easier way to do this? We are new to Macs, and we never had this problem on our Windows PCs.

try copying and pasting text
highlight what you want press cmd+c then choose where you want it to start and press cmd+v

  • Elements 6 scrolling and drag and drop issues.

In organizer, my mouse will not scroll proberly either by clicking on the up and down arrows or by clicking and pulling the tab. I also connot drag and drop from the tag section to pictures. Can anybody provide a solution.
    Thanks

I don't think so that the click operations work in the organizer.By the way which mouse are you using?

  • Must click then click and drag for JTable Drag and Drop

    Hi All,
I've been using Java 1.4 to drag and drop data between two tables in our application. Basically I need to drag the data from individual rows of the source table and insert it into one of the cells in the new table. This works absolutely fine and has made a huge improvement to this portion of our app. I've included example source code below that does a similar thing by transferring data from one table and inserting it into another (it's quite big and also not as well done as the example in our real app but unfortunately I can't send the source for that).
The thing I've noticed though is that in order to start dragging data I need to click to select it and then press and hold the mouse button to start dragging, whereas under W**dows and just about every other OS you can just press and hold and start dragging straight away. If you try this with a JTable though it just changes the rows you have selected so the drag and drop works but feels a bit clunky and amateurish. I'd like to do something about this such that it works like Windows Explorer (or similar) where you can just press the mouse button and start dragging.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - and if anybody finds the code useful you're more than welcome to it. Note that the business end of this is CustomTransferHandler.java - this will show you how to insert data at a specific position in a JTable, it's a bit of a faff but not too bad once you've got it sussed.
    Thanks,
    Bart Read

    Hi again,
Well I've tried using the MouseListener / MouseMotionListener approach but it doesn't quite seem to work, although it does get the events correctly. I think the reason is that it doesn't interact correctly with the Java DnD machinery which is something that V.V hinted at. It's something that I may need to look into if / when I have more time available.
I have to say though that I haven't had any problems with scrollbars - we're making fairly heavy use of large tables and if you drag over a table with a scroll bar and move to the top or bottom then it scrolls as you would expect and allows you to drop the data where you like. For this situation I've used pretty much the same approach as for the toy example above except that I've implemented separate source and destination TransferHandlers (the source table is read-only, and it really doesn't make sense to allow people to drag from the destination table so I've essentially split the functionality of the example handler down the middle).
I'm not actually particularly in favour of messing too much with the mechanics of DnD, more because of lack of time than anything else. Guess I'll just have to put up with this for the moment. Doesn't help that DnD is so poorly documented by Sun.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Can't drag and drop folders in Mail

I have a lot of folders in Mail, and I can only drag and drop a folder among the set of folders that is visible at a given time. If I need to drag the folder up or down, to an area that must be scrolled to, it does not work. This started when I upgraded to Yosemite.

It means don't open the Contacts app, open in in Mail: ⌥⌘A
I found another solution: type the name of the address group I need in the to: field.
    Thank you anyway.

In windows I can simply select the pages, drag and drop them into Explorer and it creates a completely new PDF with the pages I dragged.  I've tried everything on my Mac and I can't get it to extract this way.
It's extremely slow and frustrating having to manually right click extract, select the pages, open it in a new adobe window, then have to save the file through the menu.
On windows I just select the page, drag to the folder, click , and rename.

I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X).  For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file.  I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display.  Now I can drag pages between documents again.  THANK YOU Josh!
Oh, and CORREAdmin,  it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel.  Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

  • Can't Drag and Drop with a Double Tap using Single Finger in Lion?

I installed the Mac OS X Lion two days. But I can't drag and drop with a Double tap using Single Finger, which I used to do in Snow Leopard.
If I choose Three Finger Move, then Swap Between Pages goes back to "Scroll left or right with Two Fingers" that only works with Safari, but doesn't work with Chrome or Firefox.
I tried literally every setting in Trackpad and also checked if there was a override settings and there is no overrride setting.
Would be thankful, if you guys could suggest me what to do?

Mac OS X Lion (Installe on a updated Snow Leopard 10.6.8)

Hey Serge many thanks for telling me how to do. now its working like previously
I just cheked the Dragging under Trackpad option and unchecked Three Finger Moves. now I can drag and drop with a double tap using single finger.
Thank you guys. You are the best

  • File Drag and Drop in Portfolio

Is there any way to enable scrolling when dragging and dropping files into a folder that was created inside a Portfolio in the List View?  When converting multiple files from folders, users want to maintain the organization of the files in the same folder hierarchy within a Porfolio.  If dozens of files are converted, you cannot select a few files and drag them into a folder that is not in the view.  Converting the folders individually is inefficient.

    Hello,
I think you posted this question in the wrong forum: this is one of the Captivate forums and I do not see a relation to it, but can be wrong.

  • Drag and drop new songs to playlist in iTunes 11

In iTunes 10 and below we were always able to add new songs to iTunes from Finder by just dragging and dropping into any playlist and it would automatically show up.
In iTunes 11, dragging and dropping new songs to a playlist from outside iTunes adds the songs but only into the "Songs" view. We have to take an extra step to select all the songs from the "Songs" list and put them onto each playlist. This is HORRIBLE and counter-productive since I have over 200 playlists and it takes much longer to add new songs.
Is there a way to have the songs STAY in the playlist without having to drag them from the "Songs" section? I love the new interface but this is just stupid. If I'm dragging songs onto the playlist I expect them to stay there, not require me to leave the playlist and find them in my library and come back to add it to the playlist. UGH.

I did activate the Sidebar, but even when I have my playlist selected via the Sidebar adding songs from Finder doesn't show up in the playlist. I have so scroll all the way up to the top and find what I just imported in the main Music section where it shows my entire library. Then from there I drag the newly imported songs to the playlist I wanted.
Sorry for the confusing description, It's probably much easier to show in person or something. But previously when I added new songs into a playlist the songs will automatically show up on the Playlist without me having to go to Music and find it in my entire library.

  • Moving Rows in ADF Table Using Drag and Drop

I implemented a drag and drop functionality it works fine, I want to accomplish the following functionality:
The user selects the rows and what if he drags the selected rows and wants to move to section beyond the limit of the table I want to scroll the table in the direction the user is dragging.
I think it should be a default behavior in the ADF table but it doesn't, could you please anyone tell me how to scroll the table while dragging the selected rows?
    Thank you,

What make you think that this is a default behavior?
Adf tables a data bound. So the data appears in an order (mostly defined by a sort condition on the db).
Even if you implement this behavior (which is possible but hard to do) you loose the new order by the next round trip to the db.
You may try to use trinidad tables but then you don't have the drag & drop featur (I guess).

  • Treetable componet drag and drop issue

    hi
    I am using jdev 11.1.1.4.
I have used treetable component. I have 100 records in table and tree has right scroll bar.
I have implemented drag and drop operation on treetable.
    The problem is
When I select one if node in treetable and try to drop it in last node of table (which is not visible and dont want to increase height of table) by left click of mouse then scroll bar is not moving to down.
How would I able to move the scroll by using mouse with selected node at the same time.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

That does not exist - the workaround (maybe permanent solution - who knows) is
    File menu ==> export
And BTW if you are not backingup all the time you are 100% guarenteed to lose all of your files and photos sooner or later

  • Drag and drop to target

Hey.  A couple of weeks ago Kglad from the forums created some code for me for a drag and drop function.  It works great.  Unfortunatly im having to extend  to more draggable objects.  So they will be within another movie clip so i can have them scrolling.  After making the scroll, the draggable objects dont register on the droptarget as they are within another movie clip.  Below is i think the part of the code that needs to be changed so the draggable objects know where to find the drop target.
    Hope that makes sense.
    Could anybody help?
    Thanks
    this.stopDrag();
    if(eval(this._droptarget)==droptargetMC){

    droptargetMC
probably needs to be changed.  you could take a long-shot and try:
    _parent.droptargetMC
but you'll probably need to see the code that defined droptargetMC and explain where it's defined relative to the location of the stopDrag() code.

  • Drag and drop tracks in a playlist problem

I have created a playlist and now want to reorganize the current alphabetically-organized tracks a bit. I don't see any specific discussion of how to do this in iTunes Help but it alludes to "dragging and dropping". I have tried this and I am able to "drag" a track but when I try to "drop" it at a new spot it returns to its original spot. Also, I expected that I could cause the page to scroll by dragging the track to the bottom of the page but when I do nothing happens. What am I missing?

Make sure you click the leftmost header (for the column with the numbers) to sort before you attempt to change the track order. If you have the playlist sorted by any other column, you won't be able to drag the track order. Also make sure the playlist isn't set to shuffle.
    Hope this helps.
