Dragon Dictation app

Does anyone know when the Dragon Dictation app will be available in the UK apps store for iPhone.
http://downloads.cnet.co.uk/0,39101206,39547757s,00.htm

Their website says you can only get it in the US and Canadian App Store, but in the past, Nuance Communication have said that are trying to release it elsewhere such as the UK.
No news as yet but keep an eye on their blog.
p.s. the US version works fine and I have a fairly "Cockney" accent

  • Problems using Dragon Dictate for Mac.

I used Dragon Naturally Speaking for years on my PC.  Switched to an IMac.  Dragon for Mac leaves a lot to be desired - training, recognizing, editing.  Any suggestions about how to improve performance or other voice recognition software for Mac users?  I dictate a lot of reports using MS Word.

First of all I have no expertise in installing programs if they are problematic, I can only pass on my experience which relates to trying to purchase and install an Upgrade from MacSpeech Dictate 1.5 to Dragon Dictate 2.5 and the past experience I have had with MacSpeech, the company before Nuance.
The 800-number doesn't get you to Technical Support and I think I was hung up on as well.  The wait for technical support was about 10 minutes.  If you are paying for the phone call by the minute that could be costly.
    Technical Support
    781-565-4960
The tech was patient and his directions were easy to follow.  He logged into my screen using Join Me and if you find that too invasive, it may also be a reason not to continue with Dictate.
Do I understand that you purchased a physical copy of the program on disk? Was it as an Upgrade that Nuance shipped to you?  And it wouldn't let you register the product?  The other criticism I had of MacSpeech and it seems to have carried on to Nuance was that the matter of accounts and registration accounts can be a forest.
The website to register the program is www.macspeech.com/licenses/. (There is another site for registering other Nuance products but it doesn't recognize your account for products that have been registered on the MaSspeech site.).To register the product you will need to set up an account (not an uncommon process) but that account will not be the way you access the download if you purchase the product by digital copy.If you purchase the program as a physical copy, I would suggest you register the product before you start installing but it really shouldn't be necessary because the program will prompt you to register if the install goes well.
I can't recall which identification they asked for when I called technical services - the product code, the order number, or my registration account but I was prepared with all of them.
Once you do register a program, the code can be accessed in the future if you keep track of the account and website on which you registered it.  I see there is also an option which downloads the code to your computer but heaven-knows-where it is stored.  On some other programs the code is stored in the application icon menu. My account on the Macspeech registration website stores the codes for 3 programs I have had since Nuance took over from MacSpeech.
If you have purchased a physical copy and the registration site I listed above won't let you register it, I would call the 800-number which is
    Customer Service
    800-654-1187
What I was trying to do was purchase the Upgrade of Dragon Dictate 2.5 as the result of an email offer because I was a previous customer of MacSpeech Dictate 1.5.  The website only seemed to offer to send me a physical copy with shipping of either $24 or $30 to Canada. When I decided I wouldn't buy the Upgrade because of the shipping cost, I found that I couldn't remove the item from the shopping cart and eventually couldn't even access the shopping cart.  When I called the 800-number to complain they told me there was a problem on the website which wasn't offering the download which was my preference.  They offered to sell me the digital download over the phone which I could then retrieve from the website www.findmyorder.com with the login which asks for the order number and a password (which I think was assigned when I placed the order, but as I said, registration, download access, etc can be a forest and I was very confused by this time.)
At the www.findmyorder.com website, there were two files to download, the program for 2.5 and the data disk. When I tried to install the program and the data, the process started going around in circles asking for things over and over again.I wondered what I was doing wrong (a common reaction) so I tried to install the program on another computer.  The install on the second computer was easy and although I hadn't yet registered the product the program prompted me to register it. It also updated to 2.5.1 (although I only am aware of that in retrospect.)  So I went back to the first computer and tried to install again. The same problem happened.  At one point I exceeded the number of downloads which is 5 because I was trying to get rid of downloads that didn't seem to be working.  I called the 800-number and without too much difficulty, the person reset the downloads.  But the same thing happened, with the program asking for the data disk.  That is when I called Tech Support.
After the tech showed me where to retrieve 2.5.1 from their website (because he said 2.5 was buggy) and I reinstalled the data disk from the www.findmyorder.com website, the install worked well.  BTW I found it hard to understand on the www.findmyorder.com download website which file was which.  I got very confused and ended up not getting the data disk.  The program disk image which is listed second is called Dragon_Dictate_Englishes.2.5.dmg.  The data file listed first is Dragon_English_Data2.5dmg.  You need both files normally but if you are getting the 2.5.1 file, I don't believe you have to have installed 2.5 first.
In retrospect I may have not understood how to install the two files - the program file and the data file but I can't remember exactly what was happening. By that time I was pretty lost.
Back to MacSpeech Dictate 1 or 1.5, I assumed that I would have to have this installed on my computer in order to install the Upgrade of Dragon Dictate 2.5. Remember, I was trying to install 2.5 on a new computer. Although I had done this before I tried to purchase the Upgrade 2.5 (because the computer was new and MacSpeech 1.5 hadn't been installed on it yet), I am not sure it was necessary.
There didn't seem to be any "secret codes" that hadn't to be removed first.  You may be talking about old or corrupted plist files which sometimes interfere with applications.  The tech just told me to drag any 2.5 applications to the trash after we got off the phone, of which by now I had about 5 on the computer.  I have had old versions on a previous computer and they never seemed to interfere with one another. I think I still have iListen 1.0 on a very old computer as well as every fresh version and upgrade.
I hope this reply wasn't too long and didn't add to the confusion.  As I said in the first message, the criticisms are well founded.  Installing MacSpeech iListen and accessing services has been a minefield from the beginning and it isn't improving.  For someone interested in easy-to-use voice recognition I would suggest the Dragon Dictate app for an iPad or iPod Touch.  Works wonderfully but it has very limited features.
My husband, who has physical disabilities but until recently could type better than MacSpeech Dictate was working for him and didn't have a computer that would work with MacSpeech Dictate, has been using Dragon Dictate 2.5.1 on his new computer without a microphone for a couple of days.  He believes there is hope, although with past versions he was frustrated after an hour and quit.  One new thing in Dragon Dictate 2.5 is that editing on the keyboard before you finish the document does not mess up further voice input.  He continues to struggle with voice control (a good exercise for the voice) and his tendency to talk as if there he has a secretary taking shorthand.  You really do have to talk to the computer in a conversational way, speaking in full sentences or full phrases if possible, not in separate words.
From iListen 1.0 I kept saying that voice recognition would work well for everyone.  It has been a long road but I can see on the horizon that it will be available for everyone.  The iPad/iPod app is close.

Looking for a Dictation App for my Iphone and MacBook Pro.
Want to send all dictation to Word.
I have Dragon.  Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?

Care to share which OS you are using?
OS has its own dictation program.
Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?
Only you can make that determination.  Read the system requirements for both and read the reviews.

  • Can the Mavericks dictation and speech app coexist with Dragon Dictate?

I just turned on the dictation and speech app.  I already had dragon dictate installed.  Now nothing works for dictation.  Can they exist together?  How? Thanks for the help.

I too have Dragon Dictate.  There appear to be some low-level device driver conflicts between Mavericks Dictate and Dragon Dictate, especially when using the Plantronics BT300 wireless headset.  The Plantronics BT300 unit has a pre-paired bluetooth USB attachment that connects with the wireless headset.
Usually the Dragon Dictate software works when I launch it.
When I try to use the BT300 headset with certain other apps, sometimes it hangs.
In particular, when using GoToMeeting, the Plantronics BT300 microphone works, but the Plantronics BT300 audio does not work.  I am able to use the built-in Mac speakers on my iMac to receive the audio.
In trying to set up the BT300 headset for both microphone and audio output to the BT300 headset, the system displays the "beach ball" for lengthy periods of time.  A couple of times the entire iMac system hung, and I had to do a force power-off, then reboot.
Today was the first time I attempted to turn on the Mavericks Dictate.  The entire system appeared to slow down around the attempt to use the Plantronics BT300 headset.  I will next turn off Dragon Dictate, and see if Mavericks Dictate will accept the BT300 unit.
I have also a wired Plantronics headset, and will unhook the bluetooth headset and plug in the wired headset and see if that combination works any better.
Just to complicate things, I have also installed Parallels Desktop for Mac (and keep it updated to the current version and update level for Mavericks).  Parallels has a virtual audio adapter, and I have NOT yet tried using either version of Dictate with a Windows guest operating system.
    Advice and comments are appreciated.

  • App Volumes and Dragon Dictation

I work at a hospital, and some doctors need Dragon to dictate notes.  ThinApp was a failure.  I did get this working with Unidesk, but we own App Volumes so I'd like to use it.  In my testing we can install it, and it runs, but it keeps wanting to run the Audio Setup Wizard every time the user logs in to View (we refresh desktops).  Has anyone out there had a successful deployment of Dragon with App Volumes?

Immidio is a profile management system, sort of like AppSense Personalisation. It only records information that would normally be written into the roaming profile but instead records it when using an application (roughly though, not an expert on Immidio).
My thoughts will be that Immido will not be sold as a stand alone product but either be integrated into the writable volume option of AppVolumes. My guess would be that it is rather easy to install Dragon into an appstack (just the base application), the trick will be how to set license information (single user licensed, isn't it?) and user configuration. This part i guess could be handled by Immidio but as said, my bet would be on Appvolumes Writable volumes Profile option.

  • I use dragon dictate but its stopped working on most websites/others apps like Evernote. Security settings say that its blocked because the Dragon plug-in doesn't meet Safari security standards. What do I do?

I'm on a mac desktop, with OSX 10.9.4 and  Safari 7.0.5
I use Dragon Dictate 4.0.4 and its worked fine for almost everything until 2 days ago when it stopped working on lots of websites and on Evernote. When I check the security settings I get the emssage that its because the Dragon ply-in doesn't meet the Safari security standard.  I can't see anyway to unblock this and can't see anyone else has asked a similar question. Any suggestions?

    Several things to ttry ...
Contact Dragon Dictate support. I posted the link in my first reply to you.
    And check Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
Also, you mentioned your current version of Safari is 7.0.5
Updating to Safari 7.0.6 may help.
Click your Apple  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.

  • Voice dictation app not working

I downloaded the voice dictation app in my IPad 2 last week.  It was working fine for a few days but yesterday when I tried to use it I got a message saying that 'I was not authroized to use this app anymore, and that I should contact my service provider'
When I went to the app store to look for that app, that particular app was no longer in the app store.  Instead there was a different voice dictation app which looked similar to the old app but was named differently.
Since the old voice dictation app didn't work anymore I decided to download the new one and get rid of the old one.......so far so good
I don't care about wasting 99 cents on this app, but I was wondering if anyone knew why the old voice dication app that i downloaded first stoped working so quickly and vanished from the app store?
    Not complaining, just curious.
    Thanks.

That was the best voice dictation app, I used it daily for work. It was more accurate than Dragon, I spend way too much time correcting Dragon. Not so worried abou the ¢99, but I am complaing. Where dod the app go?

  • I bought dragon dictate with my mac pro. NO DVD DRIVE.. now what do i do?

Can I return it and just get the dragon express in apps? My mom got this Mac book for school and I am paralyzed. I need a talk to text app. She bought the Dragon and we did not know the mac did not have a dvd drive (this is my first mac) PLEASE HELP. CAn we return the dragon dictate?

    You have a couple options.
Depending on where and when you purchased the Dragon software, they will possibly, even likely, allow you to return the software if it is unopened.  If you've already opened the packaging, it will obviously be more difficult to return.  In that case, you might try reaching out to the folks at Dragon and explaining the situation.  If they use license/activation numbers, it should be pretty easy for you to prove to them you haven't activated the software, and they might swap it or offer a refund.
Another option is to use an external DVD drive to install the software.  You could purchase such a device (newegg.com, amazon.com, apple.com).  Or, a better option would be to visit an Apple store, and ask them to install the software for you.  That won't cost you a dime.
Don't fret!  There are plenty of good solutions available to you.  Good luck!

  • Using Dragon Dictate with Pocketcloud

We use Pocketcloud to access our terminal server. Specifically our attorneys do a lot of work inside the connection in Outlook and our Case Management software. We are trying to use Dragon Dictate to Dictate notes and emails and copy and paste to the applications within Pocketcloud. We cannot get anything to paste into apps within Pocketcloud. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I have ordered Dragon Dictate so have not tried it yet. But I see from the demo that you can give commands like File>new. So I wondered if in FCE one could speak, File>export> Quicktime etc? Anything to save the old wrist.
Actually I am experimenting using my left hand on the mouse. sure does slow down and frustrate the use of FCE!

  • Maverick Dictation-  or Dragon dictate-Which is better?

I've used Dragon dictate products since 2005 on PC's and then Macs. I want to know any advantages in switching to Maverick Dictation. Please advise.

I have been using Dragon Dictate for some time.  The initial training took about half an hour, after which it had a very high accuracy rate in recognizing my own voice.  I appreciated being able to specify the accent of which English I was speaking -- North American mid north continent -- or something like that.  It got pretty close to the general accent of English as spoken in Manitoba, and the voice training seemed to round out the fine details.  It did not train for slang expressions, such as our habit of ending many phrases with "eh?", but I suppose I could train it to do so, eh?
I liked that Dragon Dictate did not have to go back to a central server somewhere every time I wanted to use it.  As I recall, it gave me an 'enhanced" option similar to the Mavericks option.
I am still learning how to enter the command mode and easily switch back and forth between dictate mode and command mode.  The dictation is very easy.  The commands take a significant learning curve.
I appreciate also that I can dictate text into almost any app, document, spreadsheet, web page, and so on.  I had a lot of typing to do (and I type about 80 words a minute), and decided that I needed to learn to use my voice to dictate text, in addition to simply typing.  I talk slightly faster than I can type.  Being naturally long-winded, dictating text fills up more space than typing words.
I will be testing Mavericks Dictate in the near future to get a better idea of how the two compare.

  • Dragon Dictate for iPad2 in New Zealand ?

I would really appreciate feedback, confirmation and assistance with the following query.
I have recently just got an iPad 2 and live here in New Zealand and really want to get Dragon Dictate, however, when I go to any link on the Internet and then go to the iTunes Store, I am told that my request could not be completed ?
Is Dragon Dictate available in New Zealand for iPad 2 users ?
If it is I would really appreciate some assistance locating this product that I greatly need as I am unable to use my right arm for continuous typing.
I look forward very much to hearing people's feedback and assistance on this matter.

Open the app store link on your iPad.
See the icon on the bottom, the one of a magnifying glass that says "search" under it, press it.
In the text box type "dragon dictate" and press the blue search button.
If the app does not show in the results, it's not available.
