Draw a path on a image?

Hi!
I have a image that is like a "map" of something and i need to draw the localization of a car in that map. That localization changes in time. I want to display that in a swing aplication...
right now i have the image in a JLabel with ImageIcon. to draw the 'car' (when a button is pressed) i do a getGraphics and I draw a fillRect... Everything ok until I try to remove the old localizationn of the car and i draw the new one...
I don't know how to clear the old localization. I can't fill it with white, that way i can't see the map image below that... I have to clear it with a transparent Color or something like that, or simply remove that graphics..
please note that when i click that button i have a for loop, 50 iterations, to show the car "moving" around the map...
any ideia on how I should do this, or HOW can I do this???
TIA

hi,
i never tried jlayerede pane but i don't know if i will solve the problem with that because in the top layer (the car layer) i will do a fillrect to represent the car... wait some seconds, then clearRect and then draw the new position of the car... I guess the trail of the car will appear in white, no?
i wil try anyway :)

  • Can existing images be opened in AI and "strokes" & "paths" applied to images?

    An animator conferred with a client who asked that I create 20 custom cartoons for a project. The animator asked if I can illustrate using Adobe Illustrator using "strokes" and "paths". I assume I can apply strokes and paths to existing single panel black & white images that I open using AI, correct?

    Bob,
    What you need to understand is this:
    Autotracing is a cheap trick; a down & dirty workaround; a last resort. It is a sub-standard practice.
    All autotracing does is try to detect edges between regions of differently colored pixels and then draw a path around the regions of contiguous same or similar color.
    Yes, you can run an autotrace routine on an imported raster image. That's what the feature is for. But you could train a monkey to do that. There will be no object-based inteligence in the process, and the result will quite likely be entirely unsuitable for animation purposes. For example:
    Consider your sketch of an old guy waving at Monika. Now, if you were going to animate that, what would be the most obvious piece of animation? You'd want to make the hand wave, right?
    Well, in the autotraced result, that hand or forearm will not automatically be a separate object, as it needs to be in order to make that it move independent of the body.
    That's just one very simple example. Your sketches are going to involve many many such instances. It's not just a matter of drawing any old paths around black regions of pixels, so long as they're vector. It's about thinking through what actually needs to be done with the vector graphic, and building it in such a way as to facilitate that.
    There is no instant-gratification trick or one-click feature that is going to make a scan of a marker drawing into a properly useable vector-based graphic. It's just like anything else; you don't get something for nothing. Sorry, but you just can't go too far saying "I draw with markers on paper, and can't be bothered with having to do anything technical." If you want to provide proper vector-based drawings, you need to learn how to do it right. Otherwise, you're going to just be doing the concept art and people who do know how to turn it into something useable will have to re-create it.
    If you're in such demand that you've got the steady work to proceed with that kind of head-in-the-sand mindset, more power to you. But it doesn't sound like it.
    The animator could probably stick your sketches into a scanner and run an autotrace on them if that were really all he needed. He's probably rasing the question of whether you know how to rework the cartoons as vector graphics not merely so they will consist of vector paths; but so they will be vector paths that are suitable for the downstream animation purposes. Or, he may be gently breaking the news to the client that he's working with a cartoonist who isn't really up with the times, and that's going to cost time and money in the projects somewhere downstream.

  • How to get the local file system path of an image that loaded into the image component in cq5?

    Hi,
    I'm having hard time uploading image from filesystem where as drag and drop works.
    I'm not getting a path of image selected from filesystem.
    here is my code..
    private String populateImage() throws Exception {
                        if (currentNode != null && currentNode.isNode()) {
                                       Node ImageNode = JcrResourceUtil.createPath(currentNode, "image",
                                                                          null, "nt:unstructured", true);
                                       imageUrl = ImageNode.hasProperty("fileReference") ? ImageNode.getProperty("fileReference").getValue().getString() : "";
           imageUrl = imageUrl.trim();
            log.info("MANAGE PROFILE BEAN IMAGE URL INSIDE IF IS: " + imageUrl);
                        } else {
                                            imageUrl = properties.get("fileReference", "");
                                            imageUrl = imageUrl.trim();
                                            log.info("MANAGE PROFILE BEAN IMAGE URL INSIDE ELSE IS: " + imageUrl);
                        return imageUrl;
    So if I drag and drop..
    ImageNode.hasProperty("fileReference") is returning a valid path
    but if I upload an image  it is returning Null.
    So how to get the path? any suggestions around would be appreciated...

    When you say path you mean you want the path to print out in your HTML? Is that accurate? If so you generally need to constructe that path based on the path to the current component. So if you component is located at /content/mysite/en/about/mypage/jcr:content/parsys/image then the path to the image would generally be something like /content/mysite/en/about/mypage/jcr:content/parsys/image.img.jpg/1283829292873.jpg. The .img. selector triggers the servlet associated with the foundation parbase - /libs/foundation/components/parbase/img.GET.java. The reason you reference it this way is that there is no filesystem path to the image - it is stored in the repository not on the file system, and it requires a servlet or script to ge the binary from the repository and steam it.
    Normally the way you'd construct this is to use the out of the box Image class - so look at /libs/foundation/components/image/image.jsp. Now this example assumes that your component where you loaded the image extends /libs/foundation/components/parbase. If it doesn't then you either have to change your sling:superResourceType to /libs/foundation/components/parbase or some other component that does exten /libs/foundation/components/parbase.

    Now the problem is when I Build&Clean the whole project which creates a /dist directory containing the complied and execulatble .Jar file for the application AND a folder called "lib" which contains the Resource.Zip folderThe String based constructor to ImageIcon presumes the String represents a File path. File objects do not work with resources inside Jar or Zip archives, for those, you need an URL. Gain the URL using something like..

    The problem is

    I am not aware of exactly which tables are used for storing the attached doc. details, but we have worked in the similar requiremnent.
    What you can do is .... before uploading the image to any order, try swich on the SQL trace ST05 and after upload switch off.
    The log will display what are the tables involved while storing the image. And you can easily find out the image location.

  • How to draw 2D shapes on the image generated by JMF MediaPlayer?

    Hello all:
    IS there any way that we can draw 2D shapes on the image generated by JMF
    MediaPlayer?
    I am currently working on a project which should draw 2D shapes(rectangle, circle etc) to
    mark the interesting part of image generated by JMF MediaPlayer.
    The software is supposed to work as follows:
    1> first use will open a mpg file and use JMF MediaPlayer to play this video
    2> if the user finds some interesting image on the video, he will pause the video
    and draw a circle to mark the interesting part on that image.
    I know how to draw a 2D shapes on JPanel, however, I have no idea how I can

    What technique I should learn to implement this software?
    any comments are welcome.

  • How can I draw on top of an image?

    I'm using a JApplet with three JPanel's inside of it.
    Inside one of those JPanel's I would like to place an image and a button. When the button is clicked, I want to draw an oval on top of the image . Each subsequent time the button is clicked, the oval will move to a different location.
    So here are my questions:
    1) What should I use to draw the image? (a JLabel with an ImageIcon on it?)
    2) Could I simply use g.drawOval() in paintComponent() to directly draw on top of the image/JLabel?

  • Draw a rectangle on an image in an applet

    Hello
    I have an applet that has 3 buttons. Each of them creates an image, which is displayed on the screen. Now, I want to draw a rectangle on these images. Since I already have a paint method for displaying the images correctly, I would need a second paint method for the rectangle. (I can't put everything in the same paint() method, because I have an horrible resukt)
    Does anyone have an idea of a method that would be able to replace a paint method?
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Philippe

    Have you thought about using one of your button to get the action done? You could use the Graphics method to create your object rectangle.
    Don't know if it would work but seems like a good idea to try.

  • How to draw an arc in the image window?

    Now I try to draw an arc in the image window, but when I try to use IMAQ Overlay Arc.vi, it need Bounding Rectangle that made a problem because the arc I draw has a big size whose bounding rectangle was out of the image window. What should I do?

    Hello,
    Bounding rectangle parameters will allow you to enter larger values than your image size as well as negative numbers in order to position your arc properly.
    I hope this helps!

  • Interior clipping paths in photoshop image dont show up in Quark

    Iv'e added a clipping path to image that has interior paths (inside the main clipping path)
    I save as clipping path and save image as an eps.
    When I import the image into Quark XPress and place over colored background the interior paths are not clipping out (punching out) to see the background color.
    The clipping path shows up in the Quark document but doesn't punch out when I export as a pdf.
    This is also happening when I import the image into InDesign and make a pdf.
    Any thoughts?

    In your tools panel are these icons … . Select your paths with the Path Selection Tool (black arrow) and make sure you have used the correct "path area" option for each individual path.

  • Draw a path and straighten layer beneath?

    I'm sure this has been asked before but is there a quick fix to this.
    I have a panoramic where the horizon is a little wobbly. I can then draw a path along this path. Can I then straighten this line out?

    You could do this with Puppet Warp. It's far from automatic, but I'd call that horizon more than "a little wobbly", so it will take a lot of time and patience to get it right.

  • Drawing on top of an image

    Hello!
    I am trying to create a Panel on which I can draw stuff using the mouse. I have managed to get it working, apart from one small part. I want to have an image (jpg) as a background, and as soon as I try to add an image either the image does not show or the drawing stuff stops working.
    Here is my working drawing code (i.e. without image):

    sun.awt.image.ToolkitImage@1a0c10f <- my_gif
    -1 <- my_gif.getWidth(this)
    -1 <- my_gif.getheight(this)I don't know how to fix so that the height and width are set. Isn't it enough to do the:
          my_gif = getImage( getDocumentBase(), "fractal.gif" );before initializing the drawing panel?
    Thanks again!
