Hi Guys,
I'm having problems connecting
Dreamweaver CS3 to
SQL Express 2005, the error message that comes back is not
very helpful, "An Unidentified Error has Occurred"
Have any of you successfully connected

Thanks

Yes, the connection string is not dependant upon the software
used to create
the website. Here's a couple of examples, or you can find
more at
http://www.connectionstrings.com:
Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=computer_name_or_IP;Initial
Catalog=database_name;UID=username;PWD=password
DRIVER={SQL
Server};SERVER=Computer_name\instance_name;DATABASE=database_name;UID=username;PWD=passwo rd

    Hello,
    Make sure your SQL Server service is started.
    Make sure TCP\IP and names pipes protocol is enabled
    Make sure you have made an exception in firewall for SQL Server connection
    Make sure SQL Server browser service is enabled
    Make sure you connect with correct name hostname\instance name for named instance,MSSQLSERVER for default instance and Hotname\SQLEXPRESS for express edition.
    Please make sure you use port no when connecting to SQL server listeing on different port (hostname\instance ,portno)

  • Website can't communicate with db - SQL Express 2005

    Here's the error message: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
    Driver][ODBC Socket][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
    Server]Invalid object name.
    I have successfully connected to the db through coldfusion
    admin. I can see the tables in SQL Express 2005, manipulate them,
    etc... When I fire up my website, I get that error. I can't figure
    out how to solve this and I'm desperate at this point.
    Thanks for any help.

    Lol - I figured it out 5 minutes after I posted this (3 hours
    after this started). I had the driver pointing to the master
    database instead of the 'real' db beneath it. I had changed the
    settings previously, but they didn't take hold until I rebooted the
    server.
    ... will this MS nightmare never end? This is why I went to
    CF in the first place. CF works. MS is a series of endless
    patches.

  • SQL Express 2005

    Hi,
    Does anyone know if SAP B1 can run on SQL Express 2005 db. An error occurs when creating the tables for new db. Could it be access rights?
    Thanks.

    We have the same problem on a SQL Server 2005 9.00.4035.00.  Windows 2003, SP2.
    I am not able to use the SQL Server Configuration Manager or Surface Area Configuration Manager tools.  When I open them, I get the error messages excerpted below:
    Configuration Manager:  Cannot connect to WMI provider......The specified module could not be found.
    Surface Area Configuration (both options):  .....An exception occurred in SMO while trying to manage a service (Microsoft.sqlserver.smo).  Failed to retrieve data for this request (Microsoft.Sqlserver.SmoEnum)........
    This must have happened sometime in the past few weeks, because it worked a few weeks ago.  It works fine on all the other SQL 2005 servers.  If the server is changed to another sql server, using the tool on the problem server, it works fine.  If I log onto another server, and change the tool to point to this problem server, it gives the same error messages.  SQL Services and the WMI service are started.  Rebooting does not affect it.  I tried the mofcomp suggestion with no effect.  None of the suggestions in this thread above have solved this issue.
    Do you think reinstalling Client Tools might solve it?  I do not know if these configuration tools are installed with database engine or client tools.

  • Unable to install SQL Express 2005 on W7 Pro machine

    I am trying load a Toshiba Telecom application on a W7 Pro 64bit machine. The application has SQL Express 2005 embedded and will not install completely.  I downloaded the SQL Express 2005 SP3 from MS and it comes up during the installation and states
    that the PC does not have the proper hardware requirements and that it cannot install because of the wrong ASP file. The machine is an i7 with 16GB ram and 1.7TB hard drive. Can anyone help? I have the same application loaded on other W7 Pro machines with
    no problem.

    Hi Patriot76,
    According to your description, you fail to install SQL Server 2005 express SP3. Please help to post the complete setup error log here for analysis. By default, SQL Server setup log file locates in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
    In addition, please confirm if your SQL Server is installed successfully.
    For the hardware requirements, please make sure that your disk has at least 600 MB of available hard disk space. To install SQL Server 2005 express SP3 successfully, please pay attention to the points below.
    1.Make sure that you have administrative rights on the computer.
    2.Make sure that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later is installed. If you do not have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed, you must download and install it before you install SP3.
    3.Make sure that you install 64-bit SQLEXPR.EXE based on your 64-bit operation system.
    4.Make sure that you stop all applications and services that make connections before you install SP3.

  • Can i open an SQL express 2005 database in SQL server express 2012?

    Hi,
    i have a database and it's in SQL express 2005 but because my windows 8 is not compatible with the installer, i have to install the latest 2012 installer. my problem now is that i cannot open it in the 2012 edition..what do i have to do?

    Hi white_roses,
    Could you let us know how do you restore the database to SQL Server 2012 Express edition? Please help to collect the detail error information of this issue, it will benefit for us to do further investigation.
    As Sandesh and ED suggested above, we can directly detach our databases from SQL Server 2005 and then attach them to SQL Server 2012. For detail steps, please refer to the following article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187858.aspx
    After we move a database from the instance of SQL Server on server A to the instance of SQL Server on server B, users may be unable to log in to the database on server B. If need the logins information on Server B, please refer to the following article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992
    If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • UCCE 7.X Connection to SQL Express

    Hello,
    Is the connection to SQL Express external database different than the connection to SQL external database? I'm using UCCE 7.2.6 and I'm not having success accessing a SQL Express external database the sameway I access a SQL external database.
    I know in the registry, the SQL login value is \\machine_name\datbase_name=(user,password) where:
    machine_name is the name of the SQL server computer
    database_name is the name of the database on that SQL server computer
    user and password are the logon credentials
    So how do I do the above if the machine_name is machine_name\SQLEXPRESS? This puts an extra "\" in the syntax...
    Please assist.
    Thanks,
    MB

    First thing I would confirm is that Named Pipes is enabled on the SQL Server instance.
    If memory serves, you may also have to create an Alias to a named SQL instance.

  • How Crystal Report XI connect o sql server 2005

    hi
    i am tring to create a report connecting to sql server 2005, however, i could not find a proper provider to connect sql server 2005, and i found Microsoft OLE DB provider for sql is only suited for sql server 2000 and earlier version, and i dont want to use ODBC connecting, so my question if there is other way to connect sql 2005 in the Crystal report XI?

    Hi
    Due to timing of product release dates, Crystal Reports XI was not tested with Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The changes made to connectivity drivers for MS SQL Server 2005 are significant and have been addressed in Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
    As per Supported platforms document of CR XI only the below SQL servers are supported:
    Microsoft SQLServer 2000 SP3 with
    - ODBC MDAC 2.8
    -JDBC SQLServer 2000
    - OLEDB MDAC 2.8
    Microsoft SQLServer 7.0 SP4 with
    -ODBC MDAC 2.7
    -OLEDB MDAC 2.7
    However MS SQL Server 2005 is mentioned as supported in CRXIR2 as below:
    MS SQL Server 2005 with
    - Microsoft ODBC MDAC 2.8
    -Microsoft ODBC SNAC (Native Client)
    -Microsoft OLEDB MDAC 2.8
    -Microsoft OLEDB SNAC (Native Client)
    Contact your sales representative to obtain a copy of Crystal Reports XI Release 2. A minor product update is required for CR XI Release 2 to enable reporting off MS SQL Server 2005.
    For more information regarding changes in CRXI and CRXIR2 please refer to the documentations in the link provided by Amit.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Transferring 3 SQL databases from both SQL Express 2005 and Standard to a new physical server

    I am trying to figure out the best method for transferring SQL 2005 databases from 2 different physical servers to a new server running windows server 2008 64bit.
    I own a fully registered copy of Microsoft SQL 2005 32bit Standard Edition. However all of my SQL databases together are only 4GB in size thereby making 2008 SQL Express an option.
    Here is the breakdown of the servers:
    1) (Old Server1) Windows 2003 Server 32bit - SQL Express 2005 32bit
    2) (Old Server2) Windows 2003 Server 32bit - SQL Server 2005 32bit Standard
    3) (New Server) Windows 2008 Server 64bit - (Not sure which version to install)
    **The objective is to migrate 2 SQL databases from Old Server1 and 1 SQL database from Old Server 2 to the New Server. What version should I install on the new server??? Do I go with 2008 express or install the 2005 Standard Edition?
    Pending your response to which version to install, what are the correct steps to migrate (which I have never done before) the databases from both of these servers to the new server?
    I have researched this online and I think this particular situation is unique in that I am transferring from both SQL Express and Standard from 2 different physical servers to a 2008 server that is 64bit. I cannot find anything online that I feel confident
    in trying. Please help me, as I have this migration deadline of this weekend. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,
    You may choose between using backup/restore or using detach/attach methods to migrate the databases.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187858(v=sql.90).aspx
    You can transfer logins using the following article.
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/918992
    To decide if you migrate to Express Edition or to another edition, please review the features supported by each edition. For instance, Express Edition does not support jobs (SQL Server Agent is not available).

  • Connecting to SQL Server 2005 Express

    Hi All,
    Have gone through the forums but can't seem to fix this problem.
    I'm running DW 8 and ASP.NET VB pages (XP Pro, IIS 5.1) and cannot get DW to connect to SQL 2005 Express. Please see attached error message.
    I have no problem connecting when I'm in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express.
    The settings in DW when I have a ASP.Net page open are;
    "Persist Security Info=False;
    Data Source=[mycomputer];
    Initial Catalog=[mydatabase];
    User ID=[myuser];
    Password=[*************]"
    Would appreciate someone's wisdom here, I much prefer to use DW than VWD!!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error connecting to SQL  server 2005 from Dreamweaver 8

    Hi I have a database in SQL server 2005.I just started using
    dreamweaver's server behaviours.When I use the "log in" behaviour I
    get the following error.
    Microsoft VBScript compilation (0x800A0401)
    Expected end of statement
    /MyBlog/Connections/connBlog.asp, line 9, column 38
    MM_connBlog_STRING = Provider=SQLOLEDB;workstation
    id="FAZ-F6EE655890B";integrated security=SSPI;data
    source="FAZ-F6EE655890B\SQLEXPRESS";persist security
    info=False;initial catalog=MyBlog;
    -------------------------------------^
    First thing that came to my mind was obviously my database
    conn isnot right but when I define a conn using the built in
    dreamweaver's dialogue and test it, it says that the test
    succeeded.Also in the dialogue for the "login page" it shows the
    values of fields from the database, so it is definitely connecting
    to the database.So I don't know why am i getting this error.Please
    someone help!

    See if this TechNote helps:
    ASP error "VBScript compilation error '800a0401' "
    http://www.adobe.com/go/15717
    Are you using the ASP VBScript server model?
    Try creating a simple recordset that displays all records
    from a table and
    see if you can get that to work. It's less complex code than
    the user
    authentication server behavior and might help to isolate the
    problem.

    A common issue on Linux (especially on Suse Linux) is related to library caching. First of all make sure you add the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to your listener.ora file to guarantee the correct libraries will be loaded. Your SID section will then look like:
    (SID_DESC=
    (SID_NAME=SQLDB)
    (ORACLE_HOME=/app/oracle10g/product/10.2)

    After changing the listener.ora file stop and start the listener.
    Details about the set up can be found in Metalink note:
