Dreamweaver CS5 uploading just empty pages?

I am using Dreamweaver CS5 and suddenly it is uploading just empty pages from my Mac to the server. 0 b.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I can think of a couple things that would do that.
Download Filezilla, it's free and a very nice FTP program to boot. If the issue happens there as well, it's most likely a server problem. You would want to call your hosting provider and rattle some cages.
If it doesn't happen there, DW needs some cleaning/troubleshooting.
Post back once you've tried FZ.

  • Just new to Dreamweaver cs5 / Deleting a recent Item / Resetting home page

    Hello
          I am new to dreamweaver cs5.  Just purchased the software and teaching myself the basics.  I have created several recent projects and would I like to clean up, delete them and start all over again.  Also have  lost dreamweavers home page and don't know how to reset it.  If anyone can please help.   Is there an easy way to go about this?     Thank you Jon.

    Hi,
    To delete recent files in your file list try the following :
    On Windows, it's a setting in the Windows registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver\Recent File List
    Select each file, right-click and select Delete.
    DW must be closed befoire doing this.
    If you are unfamiliar with the Registry (be careful !!!!!!), you can access it by executing the following:
    Start > Run > REGEDIT > OK
    To show (or hide) the Welcome Screen, go to your preference, General Category and chock (or uncheck) the first one.
    Hope this help !

  • IWeb sometime uploads just pages I changed and sometimes the whole site

    When I make changes to my site iWeb sometime it uploads just the pages I changed and other times it re-uploads the whole site. I have a big site and when it does this it takes along time to upload. Why does Iweb sometimes redo my whole site when I only worked on two pages, while at other times it only uploads those two pages?
    Thanks!

    there is a difference. the best thing is that you can control the publishing by, instead of hitting the publish button, you go to the file menu. you then select:
    - publish to .mac (will only publish changes)
    OR
    - publish ALL to .mac (will publish everything)
    max

    Why does Dreamweaver upload a blank page when i "put" a .php or .html file that I just edited. It's like Dreamweaver isn't putting the complete file. So when i check my work (refresh the page), it is now blank. This happens about 50 percent of the time and can occur with any of the websites I maintain. (If I pull out my macbookpro, i can edit and upload the page, but the screen is smaller and i would rather be at my desktop). I am using CS5 on a MacPro, operating system 10.7.5.

    I've never heard of that type of error before. If it were happening to me, here are a few things I would do...
    Verify it's DW
         Download Filezilla (free and very nice in reality) and make sure it uploads correctly from there to rule out connection issues
    Rebuild Site Cache
         From the Files window of your site, click the menu and go to Site > Recreate Site Cache
    Delete DW File Cache
         If the above does nothing, I'd kill my DW Cache File: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
    Uninstall, clean, reinstall
         Uninstall the program, use the cleaner tool here: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html to kill everything (Adobe leaves behind things that are picked up again in a normal uninstall/reinstall) then reinstall it.

  • How to upload a custom button on Dreamweaver cs5?

    Hello,
         I would like to add a custom "View Cart" button onto my website. I went onto a random website where I was able to create a custom image for my view cart button. The button I got was called button.php. I checked the document properties and collected some information on it. The type of file is: Adobe Fireworks PNG File (.png). It is said to open with: Adobe Fireworks CS5. I made a copy of this document and put it in Dreamweaver by opening a blank page and pasting the image in there. I saved the page and published it.
    Then, I went onto paypal and put the link to this published page where it was asked for. I received a code that I pasted into dreamweaver in the section I wanted the "View Cart" button to appear. When I save and publish this page, the button never appears. Paypal's name is what appears and when you click on it, it goes to the cart.
    So the problem appears to be with how I have uploaded and saved this image/button on Dreamweaver. Can anyone please tell me the proper way to upload it so that it appears on my website?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Laila

    Thank you very much for all of your suggestions and help.
    I have found myself in another problem. Initially, I inserted the paypal "View Cart" button and code in my header. However, since there is a logo present there, and the code was lengthy, the PayPal button appeared right below my header and right above my navigation menu. I deleted it because of the awkward location it ended up being placed in. However, for some reason, it did not completely go away. If you visit www.Ziyah.com, you can see the "button" (which really did not even appear to begin with) in its place it says "Paypal the safer easier way to pay online!"
    I have made several attempts and checked the code so many times. However, I do not see that original code I pasted from PayPal anywhere inside of my Dreamweaver code, so I do not know how to delete that "button" or tag line and get rid of it. I do not know where it is hiding, but it has to be somewhere in my code. I fear having to delete and re-do the navigation menu just to get rid of that.
    Is there any way I can get rid of it? Again, here is the Paypal View Cart Code that I originally pasted into Dreamwaver. Please take a look and see if you can see parts of this code somewhere in my page code, because I cannot find it and hence, have no way to get rid of it.

  • Will Fireworks 8 and Flash Pro 8 upload to Dreamweaver CS5.5?

    I have Macromedia Studio 8 and use Dreamweaver 8 almost exclusively.  I would like to purchase Dreamweaver CS5.5, but would like to know if work in both Flash Pro 8 and Fireworks 8 would be able to be uploaded to Dreamweaver CS5.5 or do I need to purchase both of those in CS5.5?

    I'd bet that content created in Flash Pro 8 and Fireworks 8 would be compatible with Dreamweaver CS5.5, though I'm not absolutely certain of it (and I'm not quite sure what you mean by "upload"). However, I'm definitely wondering why you're interested in upgrading Dreamweaver but not the other two applications.
    If you're serious about taking the leap, you can download Dreamweaver CS5.5 as a 30-day trial before purchasing, to see how it works in conjunction with those applications.
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
    Be aware that CS6 is just around the corner. You may want to wait just a bit and try that instead. On the other hand, if you were to purchase Dreamweaver CS5.5 now, you'd probably qualify for an automatic upgrade to the CS6 version when it's released.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/buying-guide-version-comparison.html
    Also, Adobe's now pushing its "Creative Cloud", which is a monthly membership option that includes all the Creative Suite applications plus some new web-oriented applications that might be of interest to you, such as Adobe Muse.

  • Can I transfer my web pages from Adobe CS2 golive to Dreamweaver CS5?

    I work for a nonprofit organization and we are going to be upgrading from our current website design Adobe Golive CS2 to hopefully a Dreamweaver CS5 and I would like to know if it is at all possible to transfer all our websites pages from golive to dreamweaver cs5 without having to start all over from the beginning? Please help me!!! Thanks

    I am currently doing the same thing after holding off for 4 years. This is what I have found out the hard way:
    Strip out as much GL stuff as possible, especially GL "Actions" BEFORE you migrate as they will be flatten on your page making it a mess to dicipher later. Better to just add the equivalent DW "Behavior" manually, you will be glad you did as it will leave you with simpler streamlined pages that are easier to understand and also easier for Google to search. And you will also learn DW.
    If you are using a template(s) I would seriously suggest that you scrap your GL templates and make new DW templates and apply them to each page over again.
    This is the ugly reason that I found out last night. If you ever change  your GL created template while in DW (for example to add the location of the SpryAssets) then along with the desired change you will also have the unpleasant experience of all your page titles being changed to the name of the GL created Template page. This will happen even if you make the title tag editable DW style. However any pages retitled  AFTER you make  <title> editable will NOT be altered if you change the GL created template. This I found out the hard way.
    So since I was planning to make a DW template and apply it to all pages on the site anyway I have decided to do the following. Detach all the pages from the GL created template. Make whatever changes I want to individual pages. Then make the DW template and apply it to all pages. My hope is that it will preserve the page <title> and save me some work. I have not tried this so I don't know if it will work or not, but in theory it should.
    If you use components then make a "Library" folder in the site root folder and move all your components there and change the extension to ".lbi"; the reason I did this is because while the GL2DW migration moved my templates to the root and renamed them accordingly, it didn't do the same for components.
    If you use MenuMachine then I would also suggest that you strip it out. I tried keeping it but regreted it and so went back stripped it out and migrated again. All in all I have already migrated the same site about 7 times and will have to do it agian to take out some GL Actions that I missed before. So don't delete you GL site till you have your DW site going like you want because you may have to make several migration attempts before you get it right.
    If you have more questions then you can ask here because several of us are going through this process.

  • Uploading to GoDaddy using Dreamweaver CS5

    I am trying to upload a website to Godaddy using the Site Setup in Dreamweaver CS5. I have the following settings selected:
    Connect using: FTP
    FTP Address: http://www.godaddy.com
    Username and password are correct
    Port: 21
    Root Directory: testing
    web URL: http://www.stateline7.com/testing
    Am I using the wrong port #? or the wrong FTP Address? Not sure what to do from here. When i hit test, I get an error message after it tries to connect.
    I also posted this forum question on the Godaddy help site, but I thought it couldn't hurt to post it here too.

    Hallo,
    I did Tutorial: Displaying Database Info in the Missing Manual for Dreamweaver CS5.5.
    My problem is with "Editing a Recordset and Linking to a Detail Page" (which starts at pg 1002:
    I did this exercise ,over 5 times nowe, but every time with "Building the Detailed Product Page" at pg 1007, I get a bad result.
    I only get one page (the default one with productID = 1) for every link on the indexpage.
    In the adressbar (Live View) I see the right adress: for example: http://localhost/cos...hp?productID=16, but for all productID's only the detailspage for productID are shown.
    There is also a message: Notice: Use of undefined constant ‘productID’ - assumed '‘productID’' in E:\xampp\htdocs\cosmo_shop\product.php on line 34
    But I don't understand what could be wrong in this line.
    Here is the code lines 33 -48: is is about the second line:
    $varProduct_rsDetails = "32";
    if (isset($_GET[‘productID’])) {
      $varProduct_rsDetails = $_GET[‘productID’];
    mysql_select_db($database_connCosmo, $connCosmo);
    $query_rsDetails = sprintf("SELECT products.productID, products.productName, products.price, products.`description`, products.inventory, products.image, vendors.vendorName FROM products, vendors WHERE products.vendorID = vendors.vendorID AND products.productID = %s ", GetSQLValueString($varProduct_rsDetails, "int"));
    $rsDetails = mysql_query($query_rsDetails, $connCosmo) or die(mysql_error());
    $row_rsDetails = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsDetails);
    $totalRows_rsDetails = mysql_num_rows($rsDetails);
    mysql_select_db($database_connCosmo, $connCosmo);
    $query_rsCategories = "SELECT * FROM categories ORDER BY categoryName ASC";
    $rsCategories = mysql_query($query_rsCategories, $connCosmo) or die(mysql_error());
    $row_rsCategories = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsCategories);
    $totalRows_rsCategories = mysql_num_rows($rsCategories);
    ?>
    Can someone tell me what is going on here?
    Kind regards, Ans Hekerman

    I can manually type in double brackets, like this:
    $varProduct_rsDetails = "1";
    if (isset($_GET["productID"])) {
      $varProduct_rsDetails = $_GET["productID"];
    this is accepted; no syntax-error report.
    I can manually type in single brackets, like this:
    $varProduct_rsDetails = "1";
    if (isset($_GET['productID'])) {
      $varProduct_rsDetails = $_GET['productID'];
    this is also accepted; no syntax-error report.
    Dreamweaver itself made this code:
    $varProduct_rsDetails = "32";
    if (isset($_GET[‘productID’])) {
    $varProduct_rsDetails = $_GET[‘productID’];
    this was not OK; there was a syntax-error report.
    But strange enough, when I do paste this now from here, it is accepted.
    So the problem has been, that DW created code that gave a syntax error.
    I could repair it by replacing the single qoutes of DW, by typing single quotes in DW manually, or by typing in in DW manually double qoutes!!!
    So maybe everybode was right!!!
    But is was a very bad problem; maybe a "bug" of the program?
    I repeated this about 10 times before I got the solution frome this Forum.

    How do I customize my html page in Dreamweaver CS5 to an Avery template that I wish to print out?

    Dreamweaver and websites do not easily match up to Avery templates.  If you are trying to develop a program for customers/etc to print labels, you should look for a script to generate a PDF file to ensure the accuracy of the printing.
    If you are trying to use Dreamweaver as a substitute to print your own labels, I would highly recommend using Microsoft Word, or Adobe InDesign for a better solution.

  • Page Displaying Randomly in Dreamweaver CS5

    Has anyone had any issues with a page loading randomly and other times displaying the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".  This is when you view the site in IE8 after highlighting index.htm and pressing F12 from Dreamweaver.  I'm building the site using Dreamweaver CS5.  Things I've done so far to try and work out where it is failing:
    1. I have a number of other menu items working perfectly.  I have checked the code against the other menus that are working perfectly. This includes comparing menu.htm, menu.js and checking the code at the top of page01.htm.
    2. Copied the code into validator.w3.org and check it.
    3. Cleared the cache, browsing history etc.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks so much Murray.  Late yesterday afternoon, I fixed it the "hard" way by copying one of the working folders and replacing all the text from the page that wasn't displaying correctly.  It seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks again for your offer to look at the code.

    You can download it here:
    https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?show_all=1
    Click the Source Forge link - make sure you reject offers for any other software during the installation, Source Forge usually will ask you to install other stuff in addition to what you want (Filezilla).
    It works well on Mac.
    Dreamweaver also has built-in FTP functionality if you want to check that out.
