Dreamweaver Nav. broken in Firefox PC

I just discovered that the main navigation bar I put together
in Dreamweaver/Fireworks MX no longer works in Firefox on the PC
(even though it still looks fine in Explorer, and on all Mac
browsers). The site is
here (www.rgetter.com). The same
navigation exists on other pages. (I took the landing page off the
template to make troubleshooting easier.)
I'm on training wheels with JavaScript and not experienced
enough to debug the code. However, when I load the page in Firefox,
the JavaScript console does not list any errors. It's just that
none of the navigation shows up. I've tried backing off and using a
looser DOCTYPE after parsing the page a few times with the W3C's
tool, but still no luck.
I'd really like to know if this is something simple I'm
missing or do I need to rebuild the template from scratch with DW
8?
Thanks,
Ric

There are MUCH better ways than the FW8 method, too.

  • Found the reason why my Dreamweaver's "Preview in Firefox" wasn't working

    In some of the Dreamweaver forums, there were some users whose "Preview in [Browser]" suddenly wasn't working. I had that same issue, but I did some experimenting, and I found out why—at least in my case—why a particular html file, when opened in my Mac's Dreamweaver CS6, Version 12.0, wouldn't preview in my Firefox browser. I noticed that the filename contained a question mark. When I deleted that question mark from the filename and then opened that html file back into Dreamweaver, the "Preview in Firefox" worked fine. For a test, I closed the file, typed a question mark back into the filename, opened the file into Dreamweaver, and then that "Preview in Firefox," once again, didn't work. There may be additional characters in filenames—other than the question mark—that could cause problems with Dreamweaver's preview feature.

    Ken, why do you say no numbers at the beginning of file names? That's true of variable names but not file names.
    Thanks Rob -
    I'm 80 years old, so I've probably got some ancient "best" practices in mind.
    While this isn't absolutely required, some programming languages give numbers special notice, and so a file starting with a number might not be treated as a file.

  • IWeb export to Dreamweaver - looks strange in Firefox

    Hi,
    I just exported an html file to Dreamweaver of a great design that I made in iWeb.
    I want to keep the design and use more advanced options with dreamweaver that iWeb doesn't have.
    A test with Adobe's browser lab made the design look a little screwy.
    My question is: Are there any sort of guidelines for fixing the html code that iweb spits out to make it more compatible in dreamweaver and also in firefox and internet explorer?
    Thanks in advance.

    iWeb creates webpages that are W3 compliant and compatible with all modern browsers. Even MSIE.
    If Dreamweaver can't handle the code, it's a DW problem.
    Are there any sort of guidelines for fixing the html code.
    You use Dreamweaver, so I assume you are skilled and know how to edit HTML.
    If not : http://www.w3schools.com
    BTW, you don't export to DW, you export to a folder. You open the html files in DW o any HTML editor of your choice.

  • My dreamweaver site is broken in FireFox but not IE. How can I fix this?

    I have just designed my first real site using Dreamweaver CS4.  It looks right in IE but is broken up and ttotally wrong in FF.
    The  site is: www.midsouthsportsmedia.com
    Why is this and how  can I fix this to work in FF short of starting over.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Barry

    I see a similar Path Problem with the background images in your CSS:
    #middle {
        background-image:url(file:///C|/Users/Sean%20Sullivan/Desktop/MSSM%20Web%20Files/Night%20C lub/Original%20Site%20Files/images/middle.gif);
        width:873px;
        height:21px;
    #middle2 {
        background-image:url(file:///C|/Users/Sean%20Sullivan/Desktop/MSSM%20Web%20Files/Night%20C lub/Original%20Site%20Files/images/middle2.gif);
        width:873px;
        height:22px;
    #content {
        background-image:url(file:///C|/Users/Sean%20Sullivan/Desktop/MSSM%20Web%20Files/Night%20C lub/Original%20Site%20Files/images/content.gif);
        width:873px;
    and there are more....
    HINT:  Rename files, folders and images without SPACES.
    Between words, you can safely use underscores _ hyphens -  or UpperAndLowerCaseLetters.  But please don't use spaces.
    Best of luck on your new site.

  • Great in IE broken in Firefox HELP!

    I am not that efficient in HTML. I basically took a site that
    was laid out in Flash and tried to convert it over to HTML using
    Fireworks. All is working well in Internet Explorer but when I view
    it in Firefox, cells have shifted revealing black space. It isn't
    happening on every page and varies between the ones it does effect.
    I have been looking at the code hoping to find some pattern, but I
    can stare no more. I am sure this is a dumb question which probably
    has a simple solution, but I can't figure it out. Any assistance
    would be greatly appreciated. Here is the link to a page that is

  • Dreamweaver website moves in firefox

    Hi
    I am currently studying IT at college and I am designing a website on dreamweaver but I have created it and it works fine in Internet Explorer but when I open it in Firefox some of the div tags move over to the side. I have used wrapper to keep them from moving about on IE but it doesn't seem to work on Firefox.
    Can anyone help me out please, I haven't done a website before so I don't know that much about everything.
    Thanks in advance

    You kinda wandered into the wrong area. The dreamweaver peeps might be able to help you out better.

  • Rendering a Cisco ACS page is broken in Firefox 15

    Since updating to Firefox 15, a page inside my Cisco ACS appliance does not render: Access Policies > Access Services > Default Network Access > Authorization.
    The page has historically taken 15-20 seconds to fully load its contents, and the page now renders as if Firefox 15 got sick of waiting and just displayed what content it had. Is this a problem with rendering the page or perhaps did the value of a timer get changed in Firefox 15?
    The Cisco appliance is not public-facing, so I am happy to do a screen-sharing session with a Mozilla engineer if it would help troubleshoot. Thanks.

    Still broken in 16... Great, now I have to run a version that is 2 versions old.

  • Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Acrobat, Word, Firefox, and Safari Quit

    I upgraded to SL from Leopard and the install was fine. All my hardware was and is fine.
    However, now when I try to save, export, import, save for web, browse for a file and sometimes in the middle of working in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Acrobat, Word, and Powerpoint each one will quit unexpectedly. Even Firefox, and Safari have quit while surfing.

  • YouTube HTML5 WebM playback seems broken in Firefox 4 Beta 7 and the current Firefox 4 nightlies

    WebM playback on YouTube via the HTML5 player seems broken at present in Firefox 4 Beta 7 and the current Firefox 4 nightlies. I have beta 7 install on Win32 and Minefield on Linux x86-64, both without Flash installed and both have joined the HTML5 trial. When attempting to watch a video you currently just get the HTML5 player chrome with no WebM badge and just a black, videoless content pane where the video should be.
    Opera 10.63, in contrast, still works fine. So it feels like YouTube is incorrectly detecting the user agent when Firefox 4 is used and as a consequence mistakenly deciding that it shouldn't serve WebM video in that instance. I've not yet tried setting Firefox 4's user agent string to, say, Opera 10.63. I'll try that next.
    Can anyone confirm that they're seeing the same problem and is there any other workaround beyond changing the user agent string (presuming that works)?

    I just noticed that Firefox is playing some of my videos from youtube in WEBM format; That creates a huge problem for me because of distortion/Lag on ALL Webm videos with intense fast action scenes;I guess my onboard video card can not handle the demand of WEBM.
    My computer is not too old or new either so I really am concern for the foreseeable future,Millions of people from around the world that can not afford new computers will be affected by this new tech.
    This ruins everything for me because Firefox is my favorite browser I am forced to switch to Internet Explorer to watch sports videos in H264/Flash - I dont have a problem viewing videos with Flash or H264.

  • The navigation toolbar is broken in firefox 4.0b6 for mac PPC. How to fix?

    I’m running an eMac G4 with system 10.5.8. The entire navigation toolbar on firefox 4.0b6 is “broken.” The buttons are grayed out and will not function. Typing in an URL will not work either. In fact, nothing works. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to wait for the next incarnation of Firefox to be ready for release?

    Firefox 4 will not work on the PPC Mac. The system requirements for Firefox 4 on the Mac are:
    * 32- and 64-bit builds (universal binary)
    * minimum version: Mac OS X 10.5
    * CPU architecture: i386, x86-64

  • Why does Firefox start when I open Dreamweaver after I unstalled Firefox

    I uninstalled Firefox, yet when I open Dreamweaver Firefox loads immediately. Why?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == After installing Firefox ==
    == User Agent ==

    I completely uninstalled the printer and drivers and restarted the computer. I then uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox 7.0.1, restarted the computer and then reinstalled the printer (from the previously downloaded exe file, because I don't have the CD for the printer). Unfortunately, neither of those things worked, but I did notice that when I uninstalled Firefox, it asked if I wanted to save settings, and I said yes and it seemed to remember the Dell 720 printer in the "about:config" menu. So, maybe uninstalling Firefox without saving settings would make a difference. What do you think? Also, I just noticed in the "Add or Remove Programs" menu in control panel that the icon next to "Dell Photo Printer 720" is a little recycle bin, which seems a bit odd. On the dell.com forum, someone suggested using Firefox 5.0.1, available at a different website. Is this worth a shot or are there other more conservative troubleshooting suggestions to try first?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 - Problems with Firefox

    Hi,
    I'm pretty new to css and divs and need help fixing an error
    on two pages of the following site:
    www.caroleoconnell.com and
    www.caroleoconnell.com/OnlineStore.html
    The site appears fine in IE7. If one tries to open the same
    site in Firefox, the content in the middle section looks scrambled
    and overlapping, which obviously indicates that the css rules
    create somehow a conflict for Firefox.
    The error message in Dreamweaver shows the following:
    “Found 1 errors in external css files
    Affects: Firefox 2.0; Internet Explorer 6.0, 7.0; Internet
    Explorer for Macintosh 5.2; Netscape 8.0; Opera 8.0, 9.0; Safari
    2.0”
    The attached shows the css rules.
    Please let me know if you can walk me through the correct
    setup or if you have any info/knowledge about resolving this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    This could use some attention too -
    scrollbar-face-color:#;
    scrollbar-track-color:#;
    scrollbar-arrow-color:#;
    scrollbar-3Dlight-color:#;
    scrollbar-base-color:#;
    scrollbar-shadow-color:#;
    scrollbar-darkshadow-color:#;
    scrollbar-highlight-color:#;}
    just delete the lot.

  • Mozrepl 1.1 was broken by firefox 20.0

  • Dreamweaver CS5 saves as Firefox

    For some unknown reason my DWCS5 docs changed to Firefox.html documents. I can open them in DWCS5 but they will not save as DW type documents. The properties show them as "html" documents but the icon representing them is Firefox. I tried to change them but DWCS5 is not one of the choices provided and when I try to add them they will not display themselves.
    This is a copy of the url that opens when the icon is clicked on.....
    file:///C:/Users/Cliff/Desktop/indexTest.html
    If this piece of info is of any help this happened just after I uninstalled Dreamweaver MX.
    Is it a DW problem?  Is this a regedit problem? Any assistance will of course be appreciated.  Thanks....Scoundral

    This is an operating system issue. Which OS are you using?
    The icon is merely the operating systems way of understanding which default program to open when it sees a file of a given type.
    In your case, since MX was uninstalled it seems that the OS has defaulted to Firefox as its default program for HTML files.
    You just need to go into your file associations in your OS and set the default program for HTML files to DW CS5.5.

  • Is turning off iFrames via about:config browser.frames.enabled;false broken in Firefox 23?

    I noticed that Firefox with version 23 removed option to turn OFF JavaScriipt from Tools > Options > Content menu
    http://www.extremetech.com/computing/163291-firefox-23-finally-kills-the-blink-tag-removes-ability-to-turn-off-javascript-introduces-new-logo
    Recent events when allegedly FBI used JavaScript in iframe to exploit bug in Firefox with intentions to uncover identity of users of TOR network encouraged me to play with security settings a bit.
    More about how FBI exploited Firefox bug to execute malitious JavaScript on users computers: https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-announce/2013-August/000089.html More biased articles can be found in popular media articles. Just google "TOR exploit FBI"
    ISSUE:
    Symptoms:
    I noticed that turning iFrames OFF in about:config > browser.frames.enabled;false seems to not be working as expected. Iframes are still shown and JavaScript in them is executed. Doesnt work even after resterting Firefox.
    Testing:
    I used this pages to test iFrames:
    •https://sites.google.com/site/annuairevin/test-page
    •http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_iframe
    •http://www.quirksmode.org/iframetest.html
    After I turned browser.frames.enabled OFF and restarted I noticed that iFrames are still shown on all 3 pages and JavaScript in them would be executed.
    By blocking IFRAMES with NoScript blocking turned ON (you have to turn forbidding IFRAMES on manually in options http://i.imgur.com/7jctoTW.png) I managed to block IFRAMES on google and w3school pages.
    !!!Text in iframe "Test page in iframe" on quirksmode test page was still shown even after I have frames turned OFF in about:config and I block all scripts and frames and iframes with NoScript.
    If I open same page (http://www.quirksmode.org/iframetest.html) with Opera with iFrames blocked in Preferences, iFrame is not shown at all, browser doesnt even render empty square; but JavaScript in it is executed, if you dont disable JavaScript in Preferences > Advanced.
    I didnt test Chrome at all.
    Possible things that can cause bug:
    •I am using NoScript 2.6.7, I turned it off and on but it is possible that it is overriding Firefox settings in about:config. when you serach about:config for "frames" there are many settings mentioning frames from NoScript and AdBlockPlus.
    •AdBlock Plus 2.3.2? Same reason as NoScript.
    •Fot the first time I noticed Shield in the address bar with "Firefox has blocked content that isnt secure" bubble. http://i.imgur.com/K4FL65n.png. I dont know how long this feature is implemented or what exactly it does, here are some details: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-does-content-isnt-secure-affect-my-safety?as=u&utm_source=inproduct
    P.S. Just small remark. If that is true: "Finally, Firefox 23 removes the option to disable JavaScript from the Options pane — and if you had JavaScript turned off, it has been turned back on." There should be some warning when Firefox is updated that JS was turned ON. I think that for me FF updated silently without any messages. OR maybe I blatantly closed some windows, i dont remember well.

    The documentation I find on browser.frames.enabled is very vague, but I can't see that it does anything currently. Is this a feature you used successfully in an earlier version?
    The Mixed [Active] Content Blocker was turned on by default in Firefox 23. That would explain the shield icon. Not sure whether implementing that might have changed how iframes are handled.
