Dreamweaver site upload problem

I created a site using templates and unfortunately my website is in nested folders and the Template folder was automatically created at the root, so on my host I need to upload my site to my folder root.  My site is defined as either a number<blue<html or a number as the root.  Unfortunately if I define it as number<blue<html the Templates file gets lost and all my pages have broken links and don't display correctly.  I tried copying the Template folder to this directory but it was a mess.  I tried copying the  number<blue<html directory to the root where the templates are a mess again.
The site is fine on my computer with the right paths, but the minute I upload it either to the number to root, or number<blue<html the templates cease to function and some of my images disappeared.  I have to confess, I was panicked and uploaded the site about 5 times with different configurations, puting the previous upload in a folder on the host.
Somehow a templates folder appeared in the number<blue<html directory and all of the pages did not display correctly on my computer until I moved it out to the Desktop. Needless to say, I was new to Templates and made about 20 with many dependencies and updating is also a mess.  Should I start over with new templates in the root directory?  Will the Templates function there?  Please help me, I had to put up the old site while I sort this out.  Thank you very much

Hi,
The path to the Dreamweaver Template folder is root (templates)/blue/html/site files.  I may have another problem.  When I went back to the original site a large number of my templates were corrupted and image files missing.
I will have to re-create the templates and then my pages to solve the problem.  This time I will use 3 instead of 12 hopelessly nested ones.  If the templates don't have to be uploaded then ther shouldn't have been a problem, but when I uploaded it the first time it created a templates folder in the root and I think this is when I think my pages didn't work.
Anyway, thank you very much for the help

  • Flash not displaying on my dreamweaver site(uploaded script folder)

Help! First I would like to apologize in advance if I am
posting this in the wrong place. I am new to this or really any
forum. I'm sure I'm typing this wrong and using improper verbage
    when discribing the problem.
I am working on a site in dreamweaver and I am running into
a problem. Any flash I add to the site doesn't display at all when
I access the site from the web. When I test the site locally with
internet explorer it works fine. I searched through the forum and
saw the info regarding the AC_RunActiveContent.js file and I did
    upload it.
When I access the site over the web I get an error at line 2
and line 164. Line 2 says invalid character (that line is blank)
and line 164 says object expected (see attached). I know the
problem lays somewhere in line 164 because if I remove it no flash
displays when testing the site locally.
Please help I can't use any flash buttons or run the news

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Uploading Problem

Cannot upload my first Web Page to the Web Site (Host). I
have tested and have received the following message:
"Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 connected to your Web Server
    successfully."
When I PUT Index.html from Local to Remote, I receive the
following error message: "Index.html - error occurred - An FTP
error occurred - cannot put Index.html. Access denied.
I have invested too much dough for a WW2 non-profit
organization for this not to work.
    Thanks in advance.

I tried enabling passive FTP but it doesn't help.

  • Uploading problem with Ebay and Dreamweaver MX

I am unable to sync websites with Dreamweaver MX 6.01. When I connect to the remote server, it shuts down the program. I have reinstalled the program, but it still does it. Also, when I use Safari, Opera, and Firefox to upload photos on Ebay, the upload process fails completely, and blows me directly into My Ebay, as if I was not on the selling page at all. I have to go to my PC to do the photo uploads. Seems like it may be a related issue, some kind of uploading problem with Rosetta, or something. I am using a Macbook Pro with the 2.0Ghz processor, connected with ethernet cable, and firewall is set to off. Any ideas?

For E-Bay you might try the following:
Type the following command in Terminal (while Safari is NOT running):
    defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
Then launch Safari, and you will be able to use the new Debug menu.
If you ever wish to disable it again, just repeat the command with a "0" instead of a "1".
Under the Debug menu, you'll see the User Agent sub-menu; select Windows MSIE 6.0 from the list and then try connecting to your web site
Dreamweaver you might need to update your version.

  • Embed Adobe Bridge CS5.5 web image gallery into Dreamweaver site

Please help! I have been reading forums and trying to find the answers to my problem for days! I have created an image gallery in adobe bridge cs5.5 and have used an iframe to embed the gallery into my dreamweaver site. When I preview my site the gallery works, but after I've uploaded the gallery to the server the gallery no longer works. I have read multiple adobe forums with no success. Please help! Thanks!

I'm not sure I completely understand your problem, because linking to a Lightroom gallery is actually very simple.
Design your Lightroom gallery and upload it to your server. Just do it directly from LR. Let's suppose you have uploaded it into [your webroot folder]/galleries/test/.
Don't rename any of the index files.
Check it has actually worked, by visiting http://celestialapple.zxq.net/galleries/test/index.html with your browser.
Create a link to the gallery on your home page. The source code for the link is <a href="/galleries/test/index.html">Other Photoshop gallery</a>
    And that's it already.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • How to use Adobe dreamweaver for upload to website?

    Hi,
I am designing my website in Adobe Dreamweaver.
I would like to upload that Dreamweaver website to my website http://www.goahotels.com
How do you change the settings so that whatever I save on Dreamweaver uploads to my server and automatically publishes to the site?
I have entered my server on Dreamweaver, and it tells me it has connected to my server successfully, it just changes the whole design, the style sheet, sprytabbedpanels.js and sprytabbedpanels.css all disappear also nothing had changed in my cpanel. But how can i publish it to my website with everything working?
Can anyone please give me step by step instructions on how I can do this, upload my Dreamweaver site to my own website.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I'm not sure why you're asking about Dreamweaver in a Flash forum but, this Adobe article may give you some insight into the problem: Troubleshoot FTP issues

  • Dreamweaver files upload with zero filesize

    Hi,
I have created a site using Dreamweaver CS6 and have come to upload it. I entered the FTP details and set it going. (Incidentally, is there a way you can get only files that are actually used in the site to upload, rather than everything you have in the site folder?) However, it seemed to be going very slowly, so I switched over to FileZilla, which I have previously found to be quite quick. Here, the connection appears to timeout so the upload is attempted repeatedly, and when it gives up retrying the selected file shows on the server but with a file size of 0.
Several emails to the hosting company, and a bit of trial-and-error later, it seems that it is only files that come under the umbrella of this Dreamweaver site which will not upload properly. If I select a random file from my desktop, it will upload to the same server, indicating there is nothing wrong with my username/password, ports etc.
Why would it be that only my Dreamweaver files will not upload? It is not limited to html files. jpg files won't upload either. Even jpg's which are not linked to but still in the site folder will not upload!
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as I would like to put this project to bed!
    Many thanks,
    David

Can you upload these files to this site with DW (albeit slowly)?
No. With DW or FZ, to this server, the result is the same. DW just sits there saying 0 of 1 completed (or words to that effect) (since I established this is faulty I've only being trying single files, not the whole site.)
Can you upload files to other sites with DW and if so, is the result different?
Yes. If I enter details for another server DW and FZ will upload this site's files with no issue whatsoever.
FileZilla is not able to upload any files that come from DW at all?
No. FZ will upload this site's files created in DW to the second server.
If you put an external file that you *can* upload with FileZilla into a DW site, can you then upload it with DW?  Or with FileZilla?
I copied index.html from the site folder onto the desktop, FZ still didn't want to know. I copied the random photo.jpg into the site folder, and that stopped uploading too. However, now whether from the desktop or the site folder, this jpg (and also another, which happened to be sat next to it on the desktop) now stop uploading at 262,144 bytes. Obviously the html files are much smaller at around 7-10kB so it can't be a max file size thing, and anyway a 1.5MB jpg was no problem yesterday.
Are you working within a defined site in DW?
    Yes.
Do the site files reside on your local hard drive or an external drive?
    Local hard drive.
Which operating system do you use?
    Yesterday, Mac OS X 10.7; today 10.8.

  • Dreamweaver Sites are Slow. Shall I combine it with CMS or WP?

Hi guys, i designed two websites already in dreamweaver and uploaded it in a Hostgator-hosted domain, and everytime I visit the page, it loads very slow. Is that the normal thing for such website? Or should I use Wordpress or other CMS to make it faster? Thanks!

Firstly, your site is hosted on a budget webhost (hostgator). You get what you pay for. Your website is sharing the same server with hundreds, maybe even thousands, of other websites.
WordPress is itself a CMS (a big fat slow one).  CMS = Content Management System. A CMS allows non-web designers to manage the content of a website, even creating new pages, adding images, and managing the menu. A CMS is tied to a database and puts more strain on the web server, so if you are using a budget host like hostgator, a CMS could perform more slowly.
Check the image sizes on your website and optimize them in Photoshop, if you have not already done so. Your images might be the problem.
Try moving the Google analytics code to the bottom of the page. I'm not familiar with the script you are using for google analytics. If it is the asynchronous version, it should run quickly. At any rate, there is usually no need to run it in the head.

  • Connecting A Dreamweaver site to a database using localhost

I have created a number of websites that connect to a databasde on localhost using the Windows\database utility built into Dreamweaver with no problems.
Recently my version of Dreamweaver started crashing and DW Support did some work to rer4solve that.
Now I cannot create a database connection to localhost and support say they are not trained to help.
Here are the steps and error message
    Server Name: fhm
    Connect Using: Local/Network
    Server Folder: D:\FullHouseMarketing\
    Web URL: http://fhm/
    Server Model:PHP MYSQL
In the Database Panen there are ticks against
    1) Create a site for this file
    2) Choose a document type (PHP)
    3) Set up the site's testing server
Fill in the form and click select database
Http Error Code 404 Filoe Not Found
    1) There is no testing server running on the server machine. (There is only one machine, the server is localhost, it is running and I can access the database)
    2) the testing server specified for this site does not map to the http//fhm/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php&Type=MYSQL&ConnectionString=host=locaslhost.uics5 write.pwd=Smp URL. Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site. ( I have no idea how to do that)
    Any help appreciated

    mr.ztch wrote:
Are you saying there is a new way to coonect with a database? If so could you point me to the documentation.
Yes BUT you have to code it by hand.
Start here, a 9  part video tutorial:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEbKji_pSZM
Connecting to a database is in part 3.
You cannot mix up msql and mysqli so if you connect using mysqli which the video covers you need to use mysqli to query the database which is also covered in the video series. DW used mysql to connect and query.
I stopped using the DW server behaviours some time ago............best thing I ever did.

  • Need a fix for Muse upload problems to GoDaddy????  I found one!

GoDaddy now has a new cpanel named "Plesk".  In that panel you will find File Manager.  (I use the Windows version).  In the left panel of File Manager, you will see the root directory and all of its subfolders.  When you click on any of these folders, you will see their contents in the right panel.  You will also see a folder labelled "httpdocs".  This is the default folder that is set up in GoDaddy to be your "home" folder.  So, to fix your upload problems, do these steps:
    1.  Click on the httpdocs folder to see it open in the right panel.  In the toolbar above the right panel, you will see a green plus sign with the word "New".  Click on this drop-down menu.
    2.  Choose "directory"
    3.  Type in the name of one of the folders that your site will need, e.g. images, css, assets, scripts, etc.  This basically creates a subfolder within the httpdocs folder, right?  (There is a way to see how your Muse site sets up these folders prior to publish or upload.  You do this by choosing "Export as HTML" in the File menu of Muse, creating a folder on your desktop (or wherever) for the HTML export, then inspecting its contents after your save it.)
    4.  Continue to create all the subfolders within httpdocs that you will need.  Unfortunately, you have to do this one folder at a time.
    5.  After you have them set up, begin the process of uploading your site, like this:
    6.  In the File menu in Muse, you'll of course see "Upload to FTP Host ...".  Click on it.
    7.  A dialog box will open.  In the top text field, type in your website name ... you must use www. with your entry
    8.  In the "FTP Host" field, type in your domain name again like this ... "ftp.yourdomain.com" ... NO FORWARD SLASHES!!! (even if you find instructions to the contrary, like in Filezilla)  (Also, your domain might be a .org or .net, instead of a .com)
    9.  In the "Host directory" field, YOU MUST ENTER "httpdocs"!!!!  Despite what you learn, DO NOT LEAVE THIS FIELD BLANK!!!
    10.  Then enter your GoDaddy username and password.  (If you set up a different username for your GoDaddy account and your Plesk account, like I did, then use your Plesk username and password.)
    11.  Click on "Upload:  All Files"
The next few steps are tedious, but necessary to keep your site organized on GoDaddy and to keep from confusing things.  You can probably get away with it, but, if your site doesn't load properly in a browser after doing the above steps, you'll need to click on each folder in the root directory that you copied as a subfolder in the "httpdocs" folder and delete the files.  For example, in the left panel of File Manager, you'll see the root directory.  Click on the "images" folder.  If there are any images that you need for your site in that folder, delete them.  Remember ... you've already copied them over to the images subfolder in httpdocs during your last upload described in the instructions above.  If you don't trust that you can delete them, click on the "httpdocs" folder, then click on the "images" folder and check the files.  Same files, right?  So, go ahead and delete the site files that you find in the appropriate folders in the root directory, making sure that you don't delete the ones that are NOT duplicated within the "httpdocs" folder.  Also remember that your .html pages will not require a subfolder to be set up in the "httpsdocs" folder.  They can just sit there, looking pretty.  But you will have to delete them from the root directory to keep things tidy.  Just click on the folder icon next to "root directory", and you'll see those html pages in the right panel.  Again, delete them.
REMEMBER:  To keep your Muse uploads to your GoDaddy site error free, you must ALWAYS make sure that "httpdocs" appears in the "Host directory" field in the "Upload to FTP Host ..." dialog box in Muse.  And all files and folders that your site needs MUST go in the "httpdocs" folder in the root directory of your site in GoDaddy's File Manager (now found in your Plesk Panel).
I hope this wasn't too confusing.  If so, call GoDaddy.  I called them with this fix and they are using it in their phone support.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was going out of my mind. And GoDaddy was no help (although they're usually really good.) I put all the folders in "httpdocs" and the website worked perfectly!

  • How to include Aperture web gallery in dreamweaver site

With the demise of mobile me I need to find a way to keep my personal website photo albums (web galleries) that I currently publish via Aperture web gallery and then use a hyperlink from my Dreamweaver web site. This means visitors can view the photo's from a link button but the actual images they see are Aperture Web Galleries. This method has worked for me for a while now.
I know you can save a complete web gallery from Aperture onto a local drive rather than upload to mobile me. Does anyone know a beginners (ie me) guide to include that Aperture web gallery directly into a Dreamweaver site?. It feels like it should be possible but can't find any help.
    thanks in advance.
    Peter B.

    Hello Peter,
What I do, to link my Aperture galleries to my iWeb pages, is to export the galleries from Aerture to my disk and then to upload them using ftp to a folder at my web hostings service. Then I link the iWeb pages to the gallery using link button or string. I use the free FTP program CyberDuck http://cyberduck.softonic.de/mac to copy the gallery using ftp. If your web hosting service allows ftp transfer, you could do the same. CyberDuck is really a smart little tool, but any program that allows ftp transfer would suffice.

  • White square for .swf file in dreamweaver site

    Hi
Apologies if this is a very basic question.
I have built a dreamweaver site and embedded a .swf file (a
slideshow of photos created in flash) into the page.
When I view the page online, the .swf file takes a few
seconds to load, and while it is loading I get a white square where
the slideshow should be (the dreamweaver and flash documents have a
    black background).
Question - how do I either
    a) get the white square to be black
    b) get a loading bar to show that the flash video is loading
    Many thanks

Thanks so much Tom - I now have a black background!
The only problem is that my .swf is taking ages (8-10sec) to
load and now its all the same it looks like nothing is happening!
I have looked at the preloader threads and customised a
preloader, but I can work out from the search results/threads what
    to do with it.
How do i link the preloader into my .swf file. Do I need to
know actionscript (I dont!) to do this? (I have Studio 8)
The other gist I picked up from the threads is its better to
avoid the preloader all together. I'm creating a photography
website - hence big .swf - but do you have any hints for optimising
the .swf - the flash publish compression is all I've used so far
    Many thanks

  • Uploading problems (Mac)

    Hi,
I recently made the move to Mac and i've always uploaded to my server via dreamweaver's split view interface.  Typically I'd simply select a file and drag it over to the directory that i want it uploaded to.  i'm using Mac's Dreamweaver CS5 and for some reason its NOT letting me drag files over to the directory of my choosing.  If i want to upload i need to right click and select "put" but it uploads it to a mirrored directory and not one of my choosing.  I'm not to savy on Macs or Dreamweaver.  Could someone please help?
    thanks!

    Here's what I do:
I create a folder, telling the client where files are. On my Mac, I have my /Sites/ folder on my Dock, so I open up the particular website subfolder in /Sites/ and then I use Apple's Finder's drag & Drop or copy function to place these .PSD and other work files into a folder in the website.
Then I tell Dreamweaver to upload the folder to the server and give my client the information on where the files may be found.
Maybe you were doing something different in Windows and not using Dreamweaver's function to move things around, but you thought you were. Placing work files in a folder on a site works just fine. I do it in my local folder with the Apple Finder and then I just have Dreamweaver upload that folder, using Put.
