Dreamweaver SWF Problem

I am a relatively new Flash/Dreamweaver user and cannot seem to figure this one out.
I have checked my root files and *believe* all of them are pointing to the correct files, but for some reason my .swf is not loading in any browser; only locally.
The .swf doesn't show up on its own (ie: at http://www.5enses.eu/Index_.swf), which is odd. I heard it might be a path problem, but I have no idea how to fix it.
The site is:
http://www.5enses.eu/Index_.html
Code is:

My swfobject_modified.js and expressInstall.swf are both uploaded under a Scripts folder and loose in the root directory.
Thanks for your help!

Publish Settings in Flash when you're exporting the SWF:
Under HTML wrapper settings as shown above:
Size should be 'Percent' at 100 width and 100 height
This will make the entire area of browser a wrapper for holding your flash SWF
Now, the important part: Scale & Alignment: I've opened the drop-down menu in the screenshot:
Default (Show All) will fit the SWF movie to screen, keeping the aspect ratio intact - but will leave white space on either sides, if your screen's aspect ratio and the SWF aspect ratio don't match - scales when browser resizes
No border will fit movie to screen, but will bleed the borders with the stage color you set in Flash and may crop the content sometimes - scales when browser resizes
Exact Fit - Shows complete content to occupy full screen width & height and doesn't maintain aspect ratio - may cause stretching - scales when browser resizes
No Scale - doesn't scale movie to full screen - container will be 100% width & height but SWF shows at exact stage size - doesn't scale when browser is resized

a specific part of it, for example i want to go to frame 3 in the loaded swf.
i must control this from the AS3 swf, does someone know if this is possible?
    thanks in advance

so can i do like this then to go to frame 3 in my loaded swf?
    MovieClip(ldr.content).gotoAndStop(3); ?

    no.
if, in your loaded swf, you have a function f1() on the loaded swf's main timeline and you load that swf using a loader (say ldr), use:
MovieClip(ldr.content).f1();   // to call f1() in the loaded swf

  • Dreamweaver encountered problems while constructing the menus from the current menus.xml file

So, after having trouble with my Photoshop scratch disk, I had to do an archive and install of my Mac OS 10.6.1 then reinstall the Adobe suite. I then had to run the Licensing Repair Tool (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html).
Now everything works but Dreamweaver, which is throwing the following error:
"Dreamweaver encountered problems while constructing the menus from the current menus.xml file.
Please delete the current menus.xml file and rename menus.bak to menus.xml"
I tried that. menus.bak is a directory, not a file. Even renaming the directory didn't work.
    I saw this http://forums.adobe.com/message/2188511#2188511
but I don't have a /FlashPlayerTrust/ directory, nor do I see what that has to do with Dreamweaver.
I couldn't find a corresponding solution for this http://forums.adobe.com/message/862339#862339 for the Mac OS.
    This http://forums.adobe.com/message/3396334#3396334 didn't help, either.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks!

This is the error I got after deleting (moving) the configuration directory.
"No document types have been found in the Configuration/DocumentTypes/ folder. The MMDocumentTypes.xml file may be missing or corrupted. The application will exit now."
I've reinstalled the entire Adobe CS4 (which fixed my Photoshop problem but created this Dreamweaver problem) and then reinstalled Dreamweaver alone.
I've also attached a screenshot of the Dreamweaver directory tree with the menus.xml files.

  • Dreamweaver Installation Problem

    Hi
I have started to download Dreamweaver and shortly after the serial no is accepted the message comes up to close Adobe Bridge CS5 ( Bridge.exe ) - I do not have Bridge open but can remember getting a similar message when I installed PS5 a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I did not note down the solution which was given to me at the time - I think this is also hindering me downloading Bridge updates.
    Can any one help ?
    Regards
    Martin

Thankyou - that worked. Just as a matter of interest why does the process show even if the application has been closed down ?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 problem: .swf banner

    Good Morning
Im having a problem with an .swf banner that i have designed in flash and trying to get it to display on a website...
In the past this has never been a problem... simply "Insert" > "Media" > "SWF".... and make sure the file is in the same folder etc......
But since transferring over to CS4 the .swfs stopped working.... so as a quick fix we changed the banners to static images.... but this is not ideal.
It shows the swf in dreamweaver when in design view and you click "PLAY" in the properties... however it doesn't work when published nor does it work in the "Preview" it simply shows a white box... doesn't even register there is a missing file or anything... even when you right click on the area, it does not come up with the flash player details...
Can anyone offer any help on this issue?
Everything that has been done is in design view.... i have no clue about scripts...
Thank you very much in advance

Thanks for your reply. I cant post a link as its an internal website so therefore user name is required :/ however i have copied teh source code to see if this is of any help.........
    Thanks again

  • SWF problem in Dreamweaver CS3 and strange Script file

Hi folks, I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and tried to upload a
SWF file today. The SWF includes three buttons, one for video,
another for audio and one for text. Before loading up to DW all
three parts played fine. But when I uploaded to DW and my site, the
video fails to play. A Script file, and another file downloaded I
am not sure what I am supposed to do with this script file. The
script file is called The audio and text part works fine, but the
video will not play. I am not sure why this is, but when I uploaded
the file to Dreamweaver there was a Script file called
AC_RunActiveContent.js that automatically downloaded along with a
    file called .htaccess
The other file is called called .htaccess
I uploaded both files to my server, but that did not help the
video play. I tried pasting the AC_RunActiveContent.js code into my
page and uploading, but that did not help the video play either; I
just got code at the bottom of my page.
I have viewed the page in Mozilla, IE7 and Flock, but still I
    cannot play the video.
Does anyone have any idea how to make the video play in
Dreamweaver; what I am supposed to do with these two code files?
For those interested in the AC_RunActiveContent.js code, I
will post below. Please try to explain simply because I am not so
    tech savvy.
    I thank you all.
    Mary

I have managed to fathom it out.

  • SWF Problem in FireFox

View the link below in FireFox, then in another browser, and you'll see that there is what appears to be a break after both swfs (one is the "matrix" display, the other is the menu).
I have racked my brain, scanned the code, tried different methods, but cannot seem to fix this. I have no idea what is causing this. Both files were inserted into Dreamweaver, using it's default flash object code, and the only thing changed is the wmode, which is set to transparent. Please help.
    http://www.matrixmediaconcepts.com/new
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
This is being caused by the fact that you are using a table based design.
Unfortunately, (for you) it would probably take longer to correct the problem and retain the table based design, that it would to convert to a standards based css design.
Briefly you will have to compensate your table design to acomodate the gaps that you see in FF, this would probably have an adverse affect on the layout in IE though.

  • SWF Problems with CS5.5

I am trying new Flash CS5.5.  Has some new features that I need but having lots of trouble with posting the SWF.  I created a scrolling text "panel" to insert into an HTML document.  I admit I've never built that particular object HOWEVER, when I previewed it via Control > Test Movie, it worked great.
Then I exported the file via File > Export > Export Movie, double clicked it on the desktop ... also worked great.  HOWEVER, when I emailed this file to a friend, the systems (both windows and Mac OS) asked user to select program the created the file.  It would not open without Flash in the background.
I've used Flash CS4 and have never had a problem like this.  BUT, that's not the end of it.  When I went ahead and inserted the file into the HTML doc in Dreamweaver, then hit File > Preview in Browser > Safari (or Firefox), the following message popped up:
"Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.
The following local application on your computer or network:
    /Users/john/Desktop/jimednorman/Scripts/expressinstall.swf
is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:
    fpdownload.macromedia.com
To let this application communicate with the Internet, click Settings.
You must restart this application after changing your settings"
    The problems are two:
    1. I have no idea what to do in "settings".  It is not clear at all as to what I'm supposed to change.
    2. This still does not solve the problem with the swf file NOT playing unless Flash is running in the background.
Hey, I'm on my knees!  Please help.  I've never seen this and especially never had an issue with swf not playing on its own ... given that the "test movie" ran great.
What did I do wrong OR what have I left undone?  Or do I need a spiritual advisor? (Don't answer that

Hello:  I, too, am new to both the forum and Flash CS5, and am having a similar problem trying to get a Flash .swf file to play on my website.  I've done all the things suggested here.  I have tried "publishing" the fla , but, as dunb as this may sound, once the file has been published, I have no idea where it went.  I can't find it anywhere on my system, and it's not in the site directory in Dreamweaver CS5.  When I test the movie and the scene, it plays perfectly.  When I double click the file, it plays perfectly.  When I export the file to the Dreamweaver page (insert>media>SWF) the gray box appears on the page and when I save the page, all the files get uploaded.  A "Script" directory is created under the root, with 2 files, and the .SWF file is in the root directory as well.  The settings in Dreamweaver are all standard and there is nothing large or weird about the SWF itself.  Essentially, it's a rotating graphic.  Very basic.  But when I open the web page, nothing appears. (Using Firefox).  Even when I switch to IE, the page opens, but the SWF does not play.  I've Googled every web site forum that addresses this issue and I can find nothing to make this work.  When I "publish", I understand an .HTML file is created that should be put into the root of the server, but I have no idea what that file is or where it goes once it's created.  A search for .html files on my system finds nothing more than the files I have created myself.
When I open my web site, instead of just displaying the title "Home Page", it says Home Page - Flash Player Installation - Index.html.
I just upgraded to Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver CS5 after years with Dreamweaver MX and Photoshop CS2.  I've never had Flash Pro at all.
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong?  My hair, fingernails, keyboard, ulcer, high blood pressure and dog all thank you.

  • Dreamweaver cs5 problems and adobe support close the case on you

I emailed Adobe support with the message below and they closed the case on me and told me to go over to the developers connection website and open a case there. Well of course there is no where to open a case there, it brings you back to the normal support pages, so I opened a case again!
This is just one of the flaws in Cs5 I've found from intensive useage yesterday.
    1. Hangs for nearly 2 minutes if you use an external link to ny file like jquery in the header of the pages - detailed below
    2. Sometimes when selecting a related file it says "not on server" and actually tries to open ANOTHER ftp connection listed. It switches connection and then says"not on server" - well of course not....because it just changed to another server! However many time you change it back, it won't have it.
    3. The pop up css is a good idea but not well thought out. I have to right click to get inspect but when I roll over the areas it doesn't show the css in the css panel. If I right click and select to show the code, it shows me the css, I then have to click it to select it in the left column. All very long winded... WHY NOT JUST CLICK AN AEA ON THE LIVE VIEW PAGE AND IT SHOWS THE CSS THERE INSTANTLY TO EDIT?!
    4. On first open after a quit and relaunch, or restart, switching from normal view to live view hangs Dreamweaver for over a minute before live view is displayed.
Very very buggy and I feel I have paid for a beta version.
Hello I now have Dreamweaver CS5.
    It has MAJOR flaw.
If a webpage contains the code
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>#
It takes over 1 minute to open each page after launching
This is caused by the 'related files' facility
THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE in software which is this expensive.
All design companies such as us use jquery.
Please fix this flaw asap or supply me with a fix. Turning of related files
helps but if I was to do that what would be the point in
having that facility? (which I am paying for!)

    Hi,
Appreciate your reply and accept what you say, I'll take on board the suggestions.
    My answers under yours below
Second, the Bug Report form is here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform .  Technical support is not a bug reporting center, nor are they developers which is why they probably closed your case. And there really are not any questions in your support request it reads like a bug report and an angry one at that, not even starting out calm, shouting almost immediately.
    - Frustration, I've been up all night, hours messing with it.
Thanks for the link, I'll post to that. I personally don't agree that bugs this big should be present in software of such high upgrade fee's and which should have been tested but I guess we all know its the way of the world now.
    1.  Why are you working with remote website files that are not part of your domain and not in your local site?  This is a bad practice to get in the habit of.  If their website shuts down, so does the functionality of yours.  Many here will argue that point.
    - This is a valid point I've come across before and reading up on it I found it was said that the site in question was on cloud servers, mirrored etc. The link I posted was from someone elses post who was having a similar problem. I personally use the flowplay/jquery main link which has ALL the jquery plugins/effects so whatever is used on that page works.
    http://cdn.jquerytools.org/1.1.2/full/jquery.tools.min.js
We did this as it seemed that was what everyone was doing, it seems I am wrong and I take on board your comments about downloading the file.
    2.  "Sometimes".  That is the key word in your statement.  Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.  What happens when it says "Sometimes not on server" and what happens in the other times.  What's different?  It's usually hard to believe it's random luck.  But developers in a bug report need to know these things.  What's different about the file(s)?  Is it with certain file(s), type(s), etc?  How would it open another FTP connection, do you have multiple FTP locations defined within one site definition?
I probably used the wrong word in 'sometimes' - A better description would be "some of the related files". When live view is on the right and code on the left, related files across the top. If I hover my mouse over the files, it tells me where they are. This info is incorrect on 'some' of the files, not all of them but about 8 out of 10.
It shows the file as being in the folder of another account in the site defs, but its not in there, it's in the one I'm working on (and which is live in the ftp file window). So if I click on the file to view it, it says its not available, and asks if I want to download it from the server. That doesn't work because it then tries to switch the ftp connection to the other site and download.
I thought it was muddled so I removed all the ftp sites and set up just one, the one I was working on. But that didn't work... it then thinks the related files are in "unnamed site 1" - anywhere but looking in its own folder or on its own ftp server!
    4.  You seem to be referring to Question #1 here so that is answered.
"Please fix this flaw asap or supply me with a fix." - So you are saying Please fix this flaw with a patch or give me the patch.  Again, this sounds like you want to file a bug report and not create a support request.
    - Accepted, you are right, its a bug report, just they directed me to the developer website and I kept ending up here, so began to believe this is where I should be posting.
"All design companies such as us use jquery".  - While I wouldn't be so quick to say all, but rather most, I would say see my answer to #1.  Why make your site dependent on someone else's?
    - Accepted, I appreciate your honest comments and critism and fot taking the time to reply :-)

  • Loading an external swf problem

    Hi everyone,
I have started a new project for a client that wants a
shopping cart that works through PayPal in his flash site. I have a
    working shopping cart at
    http://www.flypapercreative.com/flashshop.html
. Some things need to changed but it is working.
I am using the code below to load the shopping cart into my
main movie. I have made an empty movie and gave it an instance name
of "myContainer" and set it up in my time line. You can find my
    main flash movie at
    http://flypapercreative.com/olc.html
    myContainer.loadMovie("oregonLoveCoStore.swf");
Both carts are reading off the same swf file. This is just a
guess but maybe it is not reading code or instance names that are
    not on the main timeline.
Anyone know a different way to load my shopping cart swf file
differently that might fix the problem?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • AS3 load external swf problem, please help...

Hey guys, I am really in need of an answer here. I would tremendously grateful if someone has the answer. I'll keep it simple and right to the point:
    1. I have created "index.swf" in AS3. Has it's own "MainClass" class.
    2. I created "holder.swf" which is the main landing page. Has 2 buttons, for the viewer to load the site in fullscreen or standard.
    3. In the timeline of "holder.swf" I have created 2 frames, 1st frame containing the buttons, second frame containing the AS3 external swf loader script.
It does not seem to want to load my "index.swf".
I have tested a million different ways, it load other swf's just fine, AS2 and AS3, but for some strange reason it just will NOT load "index.swf".
This is driving me crazy, I have a feeling it has something to do with a class conflict. I have tried (import MainClass;) in the first frame of "holder.swf" and no luck.
PLEASE GUYS, LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER!
    THANK YOU SO MUCHO.
    Michael

    Hey kglad,
    Thanks for the quick reply!
Well here is the problem... With the exception of a few things I need to update, as well as implementing some better preloaders etc... the site is running alright...
About a week ago I decided that I wanted to site to start with the above landing page. A simple "holder.swf" which would give the viewer something to look at before entering the site... (ideally I want to find a script that will begin loading "index.swf" while the viewer is still on "holder.swf", but I'll figure that out later).
Anyhow, I created "holder.swf" as I have many times before, and for some reason it does not seem to want to load "index.swf" into the second frame when instructed to do so... does that make sense?
So... ideally I would like the site to start on the above graphic, then once the button is clicked, "index.swf" opens up...
It's driving me crazy, because my code works on other swf's I've tested it with, just not with index.swf, which leads me to believe there is something in the MainClass.as file which is causing it not to load...
    What are your thoughts?
    Oh, and many thanks again!!!

  • AS2 swf problem under AS3 swf (probably Tweener problem)

Hello. I have this problem for a days and it hasn't been soluted yet although I put it on couple of forums. I have 3 files: test.fla, file_as2, file_as3.
The test.fla file is a typical Loader, which loads external swf files and shows them on the screen. After any key is pressed, the swf is deleted from the screen and loaded again.
The file_as2 and file_as3 are the AS2 and AS3 compiled having a simple square animation (6 squares fading in from alpha 0 one by one) animated by caurina Tweener. If the file_as3 is compilated and loaded externally there is no problem (six sqares are fading in, after pressing any key the vanish and appear (loaded) again and again...). But if the swf as2 file is loaded, it shows the squares only once and after pressing any key and loading it again, it doesn't shows it at all.
I guess it's Tweener problem, because when i trace it in AS2 file (onUpdate) it traces only at the beginning.
How it's possible, that AS3 somehow stops all Tweeners in 2nd time loaded AS2 file?? How to fix it?? Sorry for my english, i left a link for these 3 files to find solution. Try it (test.swf) and then change path inside fla to load AS2 file... Thanks for any ideas.

Instead of reusing the same Loader, try loading the AS2 movie multiple times using different Loader instances. Instead of using event listeners like normal, this should be easy to do because you can addChild each Loader instance, and when it is loaded it will automatically play. If you are able to load the AS2 movie multiple times at once and have it work for you, then the problem must be in the way that you removing the old movie, and reusing code to load the movie again.

  • Leopard/Dreamweaver/Flash Problems

Although Dreamweaver and Flash will both start, i cant get them to display any of my files or any new files- is this another Leopard/CS3 compatibility problem? Anybody have a solution? I can run Photoshop CS3 no problem.

    Hi Murphy101;

  • Dreamweaver Flash problems

Made a quick little button that when hit will play music. It
has worked a couple of times for me and then I change something on
the page and away it goes. Now I can't get it to show up at all.
When I upload the swf and files nothing appears on my page. I have
looked at the lovely toots from Adobe and did exactly what they say
to do. I have changed the page from xhtml 1 trans, to html 4 trans.
I am using spry menus if that is an issue. (At one point they
didn't work and I had to rebuild the page.)
Any help would be great. I know others have had similar
    issues.
If I got paid for troubleshooting software, I would be rich.
Isn't the tech age suppose to make our lives easier and work
    faster?

I'm not sure this is what you need, but if you want a simple
    Flash audio
player that works great, here's a tutorial I wrote:
    http://webdevbiz.com/flash-audio-player.cfm
    . Here's a sample of it in
    action on a page:
    http://tinyurl.com/674wvu.
Other than that, you'll need to provide more information and
    a URL to the
page to get help troubleshooting the problem you've begun to
    describe above.
