Drill Down Column Name??

Hi, Anoyone knows how I can change the column name when a Drill from a Bar chart?
Best Regards

Hello The below is the option to change the Column Name. But your question seems to be on Drill option.
Drill Column Visibility:
If you are looking for a Drill option Column Name assignment to one report. You need to create a parameter in the second report and that parameter should be in the calculated filed and then you will get the Column name in the Main report that you are trying to drill.
Column Rename Option in the report:
Go to
Active Studio
My Reports> View Task/Options> Edit View
Edit View>Properties>Text & Align> Apply to Column Heading> and give what name you want to provide.

  • How to reset drill-down column-chart based on map-chart?

    Hi guys,
I'm facing pritty common issue while designing one of my dashboards.  Let me describe a little bit  more:
    1. I have some data extracted from BW using Query as WebService into my Xcelsius spreadsheet.
    2. I have map-chart - regions for some country.
    3. I have a drill-down column-chart, which displays data for a selected region.
At the beginning column-chart displays results for entire country (which, in fact, is not exactly drill-down). The issue I'm fasing is, that in case I select any region and the data is drilled-down into my column-chart, I have no option to show data for the entire county in the column-chart anymore (the only one way is to restart the report).
Are there any possible way to do this, or am I doing a design error while displaying data, which is not drilled-down, into a chart which is intended to display drill-down data only?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ivaylo Mutafchiev,
I understand your problem now. So your column chart data which is coming from the QAAWS query should be having a prompt which is bound to some cell in excel. and your map might be passing the values for prompt isn't it? in your case the map might be passing a region.
All you need to do is put the prompt in the web service for region as a optional prompt. Now pull in a check box or a Push button(name it as reset or something.). while binding the data to the check box or push button (source data) bind it to a blank cell. when user clicks on it , it passes a blank vlaue to the region(this is ur input for region) which will inturn makes the prompt optional for the region web service. which should pull all the data for all the region.
The whole idea lies in somehow passing a blank cell to your  web service whose region prompt is optional.
    Thanks,

  • Simulating Summary / drill down columns in OBIEE without actually changing Subject Area/Repository

    Hi,
I have a  requirement where I need to group certain columns and simulate drill down (expansion and collapse) for them without doing any changes in Subject Area / Repository.
We have measure columns revenues and a two geography columns Continent (values are Europe, Asia) and Country (Singapore, India, Japan, France, UK) in Subject Area.
Continent is heirarchial column. Europe includes France and UK. Asia includes Singaore, India and Japan. We need to create a Summary Region SIUK (containing Singapore, India and UK) and another Region FJ (containing France and Japan). Analysis output should not show original Continent names. Analysis output needs to have three columns Region, Country, Revenue. When region is expanded then Country column should show the different countries. Example (Result before expanding i.e. clicking + )
    Region               Country            Revenue
    SIUK(+)             ALL                 600
    FJ(+)                 ALL                 400
Result after expanding i.e. clicking +
    Region               Country            Revenue
    SIUK(-)             Singapore         100
                            India                 200
                            UK                   300
    FJ(-)                 France              150
                            Japan               250
Please guide me about how to achieve this.
    Thanks, Atul

    Atul,
If you really only want to use Answers / front-end approaches for this you won't be able to get the OLAP-style navigation rendered but would have to use navigation links or GO URLs.

  • Drill down - column expansion like row expansion

Trying to drill down (across) on the columns (as opposed to the rows).  Is there another way besides changes the "level down" in the control panel?

    Hi,
What you want is possible as long as the table formatting you have helps.
What you can do is add a column to the table.  Then use the following formulas
    Formula in Column Name Cell:
    =If(Drillfilters([Plant])="") Then "" Else Nameof([Buyer])
    Formula in Column Values Cell:
    =If(Drillfilters([Plant])="") Then "" Else ([Buyer])
Now, what I meant by "as long as your table formatting you have helps" is that, you need to change the border colors of the extra column to match with the report blank area, means the borders should be white in colour and the column width should be autofit and they wont be visible as they are white, once you drill on plants, the values come up.
So if your table has no border, that will be perfect.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dynamically display drill-down column in report

We have two drill-down hierarchies 1. Calendar Year and 2. Fiscal Year.
In a report, we have year column along with some other measures. The year column must show the values based on user's choice - If the user is interested in fiscal then the year must show fiscal year else the year must show the calendar year values.
We thought of the following approach
    1. Use a prompt - which displays Calendar/Fiscal.
    2. Store the user selected prompt value (Calendar/Fiscal) in a variable
    3. In the report, for the year column, use CASE logic on the variable to decide whether Calendar year or the Fiscal year must be shown.
This works well but the drawback is - the year isn't drillable anymore.
Any other alternatives to solve this ?
    Thanks in advance

Are you showing the report on a dashboard or just in Answers? Do you want in-place drilling or can you jump to a new report?
One option is to enable navigation on the year column data and set it to jump a new report - you will need to pass the cell values as arguments in the URL - but if you want to just use plain old drill down (within the same report) I think you will have to use two reports, one for fiscal and one for calendar. Here we can get a little creative and use guided analytics to choose which of the two reports to show on the dashboard based on the selection made.

  • How format drill down column?

    Hi all,
We can format the column in report , but when drill down to another column2, how can i format column2?
    Thanks!

Bring the second column into the Criteria Tab and Edit the Column format as per your needs. Once you ar done at the bottom Save the column 'as the system wide default for that column'. After saving remove the column from Criteria tab.
Next when u drill down to column 2 the formatting would appear automatically. Hope this helps!

  • Drill down and Navigation in OBIEE Dashboard

    Hi,
We have a requirement to navigate to another report by clicking the drill down column.
For. E.g. The Existing Drill down in the report is as follows: Country -> Region -> Area.
Now, when the user clicks on Area , it should navigate to other report which will provide more details.
Since, Area column comes only after drilling down(i.e. It does not exists in the Criteria of the report) how to use Navigate option or GO URL to navigate to other report or dashboard.
    This is urgent. Please help...
    Thanks.

  • Changing the table name while drill down at the dashboard query

I have a DAY fact table that has about 1B rows.
The purpose of this table is to store on hand quantity for each item per day.
On the presentation layer I have a dashboard that will display average on hand qty per year and then user can drill down to quarter/month/week and then by day level to see the actual value at evey level.
Its hard to run aggregation on fly as all my 3 TEMP tablespace 32gb each filled and then I get error can not extent TEMP file.
So I thought I will do the aggregation at the database level and store the aggregated data in another table. So at first dashborad will read this new aggregated table to display qty at yearly. As soon as user drill down to quarter the dashbord should query the actual DAY fact table by filtering for specific year and quarter.
IS it possible? Can I change the table name while I drill down to lower level?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi use,
Yes. This is possible in OBIEE. You need to use Action Links to have navigation between reports. The main idea is to have 2 analysis. One with your aggregated data by year (using your aggregated table), and another one with the rest of the hierarchy and data (using normal fact table)
You add an action link on this report, that can navigate to the second report. showing "the details" (in your case would be the rest of the time dimension).
Please refer to http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/07/obiee-11gr1-action-framework-and-conditions/ for actions links.
Another way is to create 2 analysis, then go to the 2nd analysis, and filter the column year as "Is based on results of other analysis" and you select there the first analysis. In this case when you click on the year in the first analysis, this value will be passed to the second analysis so you can filter the rest of the hierarchy based on the year you clicked on the first analysis.
    If helpful, assign points.

  • OBIEE  Detail record with all the columns not showing up in drill down

    Hi
When i drill down in the hierarchy it only shows me the key rather than the full detail record
    M heirarchy is
    Dim
    total
    reckey
    detail
    detailkey
    name
    type
When i drill down on reckey, it shows only the detailkey and not oher columns. Is there something i am missing here. The physical and logical table has detailkey as the primamykey

You have a beautiful example in the Oracle By Example Series here :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/bi_admin/biadmin.html#t2s7
If you follow the instruction on the Channels Detail_Key in this example, you will succeed

  • Reorder key columns in "Use for Drill down" option

I have Product Detail as the leaf hierarchy level which has Product Id and Product Name are both selected as Logical Key.
When I drill down to this level in Answers, I see both Product Id and Product Name as expected. However I see Product Name as first column followed by Product Key.
Is there a way to change this default behaviour and make Product Key column as first column followed by Product Name?

    Hi Prassu,
I had done that and it did not help. I marked the ProductKey&Name column as Primary Key in both the Logical table as well as Dimension Hierarchy level.
I can drill down from Product Category to Product Type. But Product type does not come up as Hyperlink to be able to drill down to ProductKey&Name.
If I make the Product_Id as the primary key then drill down works fine. But with the derived logical column "ProductKey&Name" it does not work.
    Any ideas?

  • Drill Down in Column Chart

I am fairly novice in Xcelsius and am having issues in understanding the User Guides instructions on enabling drill down.  Under series name I have the titles of the sub categories I would like to 'drill down,' is this correct?  I have filled in all of the necessary options but it doesn't seem to be working.  I only want to drill down one of my series, I'm assuming that's not an issue?

I am not 100% clear with what kind of model you are trying to design and what data you are taking. Still i am explaining you the in short how Drill function works with an example.
I have a data of employees and salary and I want to create a column chart1 which will display the composite values of all the engineers and salary.Engineer name on X-axis and Salary on Y-axis.
Now I also want a chart which will display the salary of the emplyees individually which will be displayed after clicking on the particular salary bar from the Chart1.
This is when drill down functionality comes into picture.
Do achieve this we take another column chart2. Now in Chart1 properties go to Drill down section and under the series you find a tab Insert in. Select a blank cell just under the salary column and map it.And in the source data section select the entire Salary column.
incase you want to drill on multiple columns then select multiple columns on source data and also select multiple blank cells just below the multple source columns. Preferably highlight those cell with colours.
Now in Chart2 go to property and select that particular blank cells under Data range section same as you selected in drill down>insert in.
Now chart1 is linked to Chart2.
whenever you click on any one salary bar of any engineer the corresponding chart2 will display salary of that particular engineer.
I would also request you to go to the installation folder where you will find a folder called samples under which you will get lot of sample models inlcuding drill down model which will give you a better understanding of how the drill down concept is used.
Hope this reply helps.Let me knwith you feedback.

  • Hide column until you select drill down to see details.

I am relatively new to SSRS, so please excuse my ignorance. I am using Visual Studio 2012 and the Business Intelligence templates to build a report.
I currently have a report thats grouped on Doctor and in my tablix I have various columns selected. In my tablix, I have a field called Ticket Number and I really
would not like to see this column at all until I hit the "+" (plus) sign on the providers name to drill into the details. The top display they see when they first run the report is the summary and when they hit the plus, thats when i would like
to see the ticket number displayed. Is that possible and if so, how?
    Thanks!

    Hi Jeffs1977,
According to your description, you want to add drill down action to the report, when you preview the report, column of Ticket Number is hidden, after you click plus sign on provider, the column will be displayed. If that is the case, please refer to the
    following steps:
Right-click column of Ticket Number, click Column Visibility.
Select Hide in the When the report is initially run section.
In Display can be toggled by this report item drop-down list, select the textbox name which “Provider” is located.
