Drill down - column expansion like row expansion

Trying to drill down (across) on the columns (as opposed to the rows).  Is there another way besides changes the "level down" in the control panel?

What you want is possible as long as the table formatting you have helps.
What you can do is add a column to the table.  Then use the following formulas
Formula in Column Name Cell:
=If(Drillfilters([Plant])="") Then "" Else Nameof([Buyer])
Formula in Column Values Cell:
=If(Drillfilters([Plant])="") Then "" Else ([Buyer])
Now, what I meant by "as long as your table formatting you have helps" is that, you need to change the border colors of the extra column to match with the report blank area, means the borders should be white in colour and the column width should be autofit and they wont be visible as they are white, once you drill on plants, the values come up.
So if your table has no border, that will be perfect.

    I'm facing pritty common issue while designing one of my dashboards.  Let me describe a little bit  more:
    1. I have some data extracted from BW using Query as WebService into my Xcelsius spreadsheet.
    2. I have map-chart - regions for some country.
    3. I have a drill-down column-chart, which displays data for a selected region.
    At the beginning column-chart displays results for entire country (which, in fact, is not exactly drill-down). The issue I'm fasing is, that in case I select any region and the data is drilled-down into my column-chart, I have no option to show data for the entire county in the column-chart anymore (the only one way is to restart the report).
    Are there any possible way to do this, or am I doing a design error while displaying data, which is not drilled-down, into a chart which is intended to display drill-down data only?
    Any help would be highly appreciated.

    I understand your problem now. So your column chart data which is coming from the QAAWS query should be having a prompt which is bound to some cell in excel. and your map might be passing the values for prompt isn't it? in your case the map might be passing a region.
    All you need to do is put the prompt in the web service for region as a optional prompt. Now pull in a check box or a Push button(name it as reset or something.). while binding the data to the check box or push button (source data) bind it to a blank cell. when user clicks on it , it passes a blank vlaue to the region(this is ur input for region) which will inturn makes the prompt optional for the region web service. which should pull all the data for all the region.
    The whole idea lies in somehow passing a blank cell to your  web service whose region prompt is optional.

  • Simulating Summary / drill down columns in OBIEE without actually changing Subject Area/Repository

    Hi,
    I have a  requirement where I need to group certain columns and simulate drill down (expansion and collapse) for them without doing any changes in Subject Area / Repository.
    We have measure columns revenues and a two geography columns Continent (values are Europe, Asia) and Country (Singapore, India, Japan, France, UK) in Subject Area.
    Continent is heirarchial column. Europe includes France and UK. Asia includes Singaore, India and Japan. We need to create a Summary Region SIUK (containing Singapore, India and UK) and another Region FJ (containing France and Japan). Analysis output should not show original Continent names. Analysis output needs to have three columns Region, Country, Revenue. When region is expanded then Country column should show the different countries. Example (Result before expanding i.e. clicking + )
    Region               Country            Revenue
    SIUK(+)             ALL                 600
    FJ(+)                 ALL                 400
    Result after expanding i.e. clicking +
    Region               Country            Revenue
    SIUK(-)             Singapore         100
                            India                 200
                            UK                   300                    
    FJ(-)                 France              150

    Please guide me about how to achieve this.

    If you really only want to use Answers / front-end approaches for this you won't be able to get the OLAP-style navigation rendered but would have to use navigation links or GO URLs.

  • Drill Down only the Middle Row in the Row Group

    Friends,
    I am having difficulties in implementing drill down for one row group.  This is my requirement.
    The Dataset would be returning say the following columns - Eg, Account #, Admit Date, Discharge Date, Pend Reason, Pend Date, Total Amount, Comments. An Account can be pended multiple times.
    We can Pend an Account multiple times. Hence if multiple records exist only the Pend Reason & Pend Date fields would be different for each row for a account. So Account, Pend Reason, Pend Date form a UNIQUE key.
    I am trying to create a drill down report. I want to drill down the Pend Reason & Pend Date fields. This is possible. However, the requirement is to display the Pend Reason & Pend Date fields in the middle of the result set i.e. Total Amount, Comments
    field would be coming after these fields in the report. So whenever i try to expand/collapse the subsequent fields Total Amount & Comments too get expanded/collapsed.
    I am able to achieve this if i keep Pend Reason & Pend Date fields at the end of the result set. But that is not the requirement.
    There is another option of creating sub report for these fields and displaying the history. However i feel that this would be very time consuming since the sub report would be called for every row in the result set.
    Are there any other ways to achieve this? Is it possible to drill down these 2 fields by toggling these same 2 fields?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for responding. I am attaching the report layout. In this Facility, User, CaseType have been grouped and rest of the fields are in Details section.
    For an account with multiple entries in the dataset only the Pend Reason would be different. All the other fields would be the same. When I try to add all the fields before Pend Reason field as Parent, it is grouping till Pend Reaosn and showing even Pend
    Date, Pend Days fields in individual rows.
    Our requirement is to have only one row per account in the report and display multiple rows for pend reasons in its own box. for eg if there are 3 rows for account 111
    Col1, Col2, Col3
    111, A, 20
    111,B,20
    111,C,20
    My requirement is to display like below.
    111
    A
    20
    B
    C
    i know the we can implement this by using a subreport for COl2. but it would be time consuming as it would be called for all the rows. Is there any other better options.

    Hi,
    In 7.5 you can do as follows :
    Workbook Options>Drill Down Options>select Expand by Inserting new rows.
    By double clicking on cell we can Expand or Collaps
    In 10 , Its auto no need to set any options. Just double click will do.

    I need to have dynamic drill down functionality in my webi report.
    For example
    I have Columns;
    Fiscal Year, Fiscal Quarter, Plant, No. of PO line (4 columns).
    Drill down on Plant level.
    When i click on plant a new column should be added in webi report.
    Now my report should look like this;
    Fiscal Year, Fiscal Quarter, Plant, Buyer, No. of PO line (5 columns)...(New column Buyer is added)
    How to do this.
    Please help me guys.

  • Dynamically display drill-down column in report

    We have two drill-down hierarchies 1. Calendar Year and 2. Fiscal Year.
    In a report, we have year column along with some other measures. The year column must show the values based on user's choice - If the user is interested in fiscal then the year must show fiscal year else the year must show the calendar year values.
    We thought of the following approach
    1. Use a prompt - which displays Calendar/Fiscal.
    2. Store the user selected prompt value (Calendar/Fiscal) in a variable
    3. In the report, for the year column, use CASE logic on the variable to decide whether Calendar year or the Fiscal year must be shown.
    This works well but the drawback is - the year isn't drillable anymore.
    Any other alternatives to solve this ?

    Are you showing the report on a dashboard or just in Answers? Do you want in-place drilling or can you jump to a new report?
    One option is to enable navigation on the year column data and set it to jump a new report - you will need to pass the cell values as arguments in the URL - but if you want to just use plain old drill down (within the same report) I think you will have to use two reports, one for fiscal and one for calendar. Here we can get a little creative and use guided analytics to choose which of the two reports to show on the dashboard based on the selection made.

    Bring the second column into the Criteria Tab and Edit the Column format as per your needs. Once you ar done at the bottom Save the column 'as the system wide default for that column'. After saving remove the column from Criteria tab.
    Next when u drill down to column 2 the formatting would appear automatically. Hope this helps!

    Hello The below is the option to change the Column Name. But your question seems to be on Drill option.
    Drill Column Visibility:
    If you are looking for a Drill option Column Name assignment to one report. You need to create a parameter in the second report and that parameter should be in the calculated filed and then you will get the Column name in the Main report that you are trying to drill.
    Column Rename Option in the report:
    Go to
    Active Studio
    My Reports> View Task/Options> Edit View
    Edit View>Properties>Text & Align> Apply to Column Heading> and give what name you want to provide.

  • Drill down problem in a row structure

    Hi Experts, Could you throw some light on the following issue.
    I have a P&L report with one KF and one Char structure in the query.
    my char structure is as follows
    A - Selection
    B - Selection
    C - Formula (A+B)
    D - Selection
    E - Selection
    F - Selection
    G - Formula (DEF)
    My requirement is summary and detail report from Web. My summary report is good when just running the query. For detail I am using WAD DRILL_DOWN command on this report, I am getting report as follows
    A1          -    -    -
    A2          -    -    -
    A3          -    -    -
    A - Total  -    -    -
    B1          -    -    -
    B2          -    -    -
    B-Total   -    -    -
    A1         -    -    -
    A2         -    -    -
    A3         -    -    -

    and the same way for the rest. I don't want details for the formula. The formula should show only the Total. I tried different ways for the formula but couldn't succeed yet. Let me know how to solve this issue, your help will certainly be appreciated.

    With BEx in general, you dont have control to drilldown only within specific rows.  If A, B and C are GL accounts and this is your drilldown, it will drilldown on every line which has the GL.  Use the Financial Statement Version on GL to create a hierarchy on GL, then restrict to specific hierarchy node without drilldown on GL, this should solve your problem. 
    Example:
    Hierarchy: <b>Financial Statement Version 001</b>
    > Revenue
    .....Candy Sales
    ..........Hard Candy (GL100)
    ..........Soft Candy (GL150)
    .....Popcorn Revenue
    ..........Plain (GL300)
    ..........Buttered (GL350)
    .....Soda Revenue
    ..........Diet (GL400)
    ..........Regular (GL450)
    >Expenses
    etc etc
    Then create your row structure:
    Candy Sales [Hierarchy Node containing multiple GL]
    Popcorn Sales [Hierarchy Node containing multiple GL]
    Total (Candy + Popcorn)

  • Bubble Chart drill down issues

    I have a filter and a bubble chat with 7 series. The chart is showing up bubbles with different size and colors as per the settings when I chnage the filter
    The problem is with drill down
    I want to drill down to a Bar chart when I click on bubbles. Each bubble click will drill down data into that bar charchart as a pop up. I know how to do it as I have done it in the past with other components.
    But when I use drill down with bubble chart, I have to assign separate destination area for each series which makes it difficult to drill down into a chart. What i want is the bubbles to drill down data into a single row so that I can map the Y-axis of chart component to that row and X axis as fixed labels. But I am not able to do that. Moreover once inserted there is no way to clear the destination cells.
    However if I use data in range options in bubble chart then I can use drill down as I get only one series in that case. But that method also has limitations.
    1. I am not able to display series name on the bubbles. It doesn't make any sense to show bubbles without any labels.
    2. All bubbles are of same color.
    Is it possible to overcome above two limitations when using data in range option?

    Hi Tarun,
    as a workaround you could define a special area as mapping area for the X-Y-chart.
    This area is filled via excel formulas from the bubble chart drill down destinations. You can concatenate the values from the drill down target areas, like "=A4&A5" etc. Make sure to clear all cells except the actual drill down target cells.

  • Strange behavior with hidden text field for drill down

    I am pretty sure I know the cause, just not sure how to work around...
    I am trying to create a drill down report just like in the App Dev guide, and I have done everything the same as the example (2 times, once to follow the guide, and now on my app). The only difference is that I am using a text field rather than a numeric field as the link. This shouldn't be a problem (I wouldn't think) except that the text I NEED to use has '<==' in the middle. So when I check my session state var's, this is what I see:
    CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
    When what I should see is:
    CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
    So I think that I am gettting duplication because of the characters, but again I don't know how to solve it.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    I am trying to create a drill down report similar to the one in the app developers guide. I have a query on pg 1 that includes the required text field as the link. When I click the link, I get an error on pg 2 - which is trying to use the value from pg 1. I did check and saw that even though I set this value in session state (I thought that was what happened when I assigned the 'name' and 'value' in the column link), it is passed in the url, which is where I figured it was breaking. As stated, I need to use this text value as it is the only unique key for the data (currently - this is a data validation step (not an ApEx validation), where users are handling issues with data uploaded from a csv).
    My current process is as follows:
    1. User uploads 2 csv's
    2. Proc moves (from wwv_flow_files) and parses csv back into records and inserts into temp (all varchar2) table(s).
    3. User is displayed 3 'reports' - for each type of validation required - from the stage/temp table
    4. User would click on the 'Edit' link (like the drill down sample) to see more details about the record.
    5. Once the user is done with these reports, they would click another button to 'process' the data (move it into base tables)
    Because the text field is always unique, I figured I wouldn't create a sequence for this like I have for the 'base' (destination) tables.
    I didn't know that I was using a 'get' rather than a 'post', but of course it is a link, not a button - so I should ahve known better.
    Is there a way to do this without adding a sequence generated id for each, or is that just the quickest way?

  • Vertical Drill Down Feature

    Hi,
    We have request from the client with the way OBIEE drills down. The client wants vertical drill down rather than horizontal. For example if you click on a year then Quarters for that particular Year appear in new column"Quarter" next to year. But our client is requesting a vertical Drill Down that means when you click on the Year Quarters related to that Year should appear in the same column underneath the year rather than a new column. Is it possible to do this in OBIEE.

    is it possible to still use the drill down while my worksheet is protected.. because when i created a report the drill down is still working but when i protect it the drill down is not working.. its that how it supposed to work? if yes is there still a way to be able to use drill down while protecting the template..

    i run some test and this is my finding,
    when you choose the DRILL DOWN OPTION > Drill Down by inserting new rows, you can use more hardcoded memberset like this one "ALL(T_Tropical) and Codetype=Fert" and still be able to use the drill down BUT you wont be able to use the drill down when you protect your worksheet even if your memberset is just SELF,DEP
    my only option then, is to not protect the worksheet.
