Drill down then navigate in chart/table

Is there a way to drill-down the hierarchy then once at the very bottom member, navigate to a more detailed report. I see that i can either choose "drill" or "navigate" under chart interactions but I really kind of want both. I have a line chart that shows sales by region (country->state->city). When I drill down to the city level, I may be viewing sales for 10 cities in Texas. Now since I am at the bottome of this hierarchy I want to click the chart on any city and it take me to the details of that cities sales details on another report.
Thanks
-Derek

yes your absolutely true.
You cannot navigate to a new report unless you have the columns participating in navigation are pre-defined in answers.
With that said, it is not possible to navigate after performing a drill-down to detail, as detail level is not available to implement navigation.

    Hi user12255470,
Go URLs are a way to directly call an Answer Request or Dashboard Page via a URL. In addition, you can even pass parameters in the URL as filters. GO URLs are used will you want to allow a user to drill into detail by clicking on a static text. It also allows other tools to drill into OBIEE.
    Here's an example GO URL: http://LOCALHOST:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=/users/administrator/OTN Tests/Page Test&Style=oracle10&Format=PDF
    I'll break down each piece
LOCALHOST: This is the URL for your OBIEE web host
:9704: This is the typical port for OBIEE installs (sometimes 7777)
?Go: This is where the it's gets the name "GO URL". It's the GO command.
&Path= : This is the full path of the report. In my case, it's in the administrator folder in a sub folder called OTN Test. The report itself is called Page Test.
&Style=: This sets the style, or the look and feel, on how the report is presented. The default is oracle10.
&Format=: You can set this to default the presentation. I set it to PDf so that a PDF will generated.
Good luck and if you found this post useful, please award points!

  • How to use drill down hierarchy in column chart of BO OLAP edition tool?

I had created hierarchy table in olap tool where i can drill down Zonewise then Regionwise then Customerwise but this technique is not possible in Graph of Olap tool ,so my question is how can aaply drill down method in graph?

    Hello Raul
This is odd. Have a look at the screen shots below. I start at the top level "WORLD".
I right-click on "WORLD" and choose "Expand". This gives me the second screen shot.
I then right-click on "NORTH AMERICA" and choose "Expand". This gives me the third screenshot.
As you can see, levels are expanded one-at-a-time. The only thing I can think of is that the BW query has been set up to drill down automatically to a particular level.

  • Drill down mapping in Combo chart in BAM 11g

Is it possible to enable drill down for both the report in combo chart? That means i have a combo chart of zone wise distribution of total price as bar chart and zone wise distribution of total quote as line chart. If i click on bar chart and line chart it will open another report.

    Hi Anish,
There is "Series Names Destination:" parameter on Drill-Down (Insertion) Tab of Bubble chart component. By using that parameter you can retrieve selected serie. Via that value you can extract selected serie's selected value and drill down to required selection via some excel formulas like index-match or vlookup-hlookup. I hope that solves your issue.

  • Drill Down feature for pie chart in Java

    Hi,
I have a JSP where the graph displayed should have Drill Down functionality i.e. when clicked on any sector of Pie chart it should come up with other graph giving more details.
I need the code or how to proceed to get drill down feature.
If anyone has idea about drill down or any sites which can help me please reply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Praveen.

You have to generate the image and the surrounding HTML using two seperate transactions; typically a JSP delivers the HTML and a servlet, invoked by the SRC URL of an image tag, provides an image.
Your HTML contains a form, and the image is displayed using a <Input type="image" .. Clicking on that submits the forn, providing X and Y coordinates as parameters to a servlet which can calculate which pie-slice has been clicked. You can't use a client-side image map because there are no suitable sensitive shapes available.

  • How to drill down reports from a chart?

    Hi,
I need to build a 3d pie chart. For example, a department 3d pie chart. It has number of employees on math dept, physics dept, cs dept. When I click math dept from the chart, it will drill down to a report which has the detail of math dept: employee name, salary etc.
Is this a way to achieve this?
What is the difference between flash chart, html chart and svg chart? I can find the info from thh user guide.

    Helen,
Drill-Down from a chart is quite easy. See this example I just created:

  • To display drill down values in the same table

    Dear Friends,
Suppose if you apply drill down on one object, it wont appear upper level values of that perticular object. If you want to display all levels of values in the same report during drill down.

From your view I belive that currently you have a structure in Rows containing Shipping and Sales for Current and Last year. Moreover, you have Year in the column and that is the reason you are getting the numbers in two different columns.
My suggestion is like this, remove the KFs from the selection of the structure and keep the name of each of the elements as it is. Remove Year from the Column and include them into selections of the structure elements.
Add the KFs, shipping and Sales into COlumns. Now as you already have restrictions into your selection, your numbers will be restricted in the output, but again here you will have Shipping coming in one column and Sales will be another column.
But you have above mentioned structure, you can include the cell refercing into the query. Overwrite the value of cells at the intersection (Shipping / Current Year) or (Shipping / Last Year) with the adjustant cells which will be (Sales / Current Year) and (Sales / Last Year).
    ______________________Shipping_____Sales
    Shipping (Current Year)______1000
    Sales (Current Year)__________________1000
    Shipping (Last Yera)_________2000
    Sales (Last Year)_____________________5000
After you apply cell referencing, 1000 and 5000 sales will be filled in the empty cells next of shipping next to sales.

  • Drill Down From Filter component -- Chart -- Chart

I am quite new to xcelsius !! Following is my situation!!
Below are counts for Channel and Company for each month!!
    Channel --Company Jan Feb Mar
    abc -Ilco----
    100 --200-300
    def -AMO--200300--100
    efg -HCL -
    100---200-100
I created a Filter component and According to Channel and Company for Each month I could able to show Policy count.....
    I achieved until this!!
Now the Requirement is something like this. When the user clicks on Company(Abc) and Channel (ILCO)he could able to see following in three diffent Graph!!!
    Case Size---Counts---- Age Group-CountsPending Status--
    Counts
    0-10k--500-5525Issued--
    50
    11k-50k-----5056-7575Underwriting Approved- 50
    100--100--
    100
Please tell me the approach of doing this or is there any better option to show these!!
    Thank you,

    Hi patnaik ,
I understand that you are not using Filter component any one and you might be using other components like combo box, radio button etc..
You can achive this, Point all company values to the first componet source and destination to one cell and write the formula in such a way that compare the destination of the first compoent and get the list of channels particular to the selected company and point then to the second component source and give destination to the second componet.Write formulas based on the second components destination cell and ge the values required for graph and point them to the graphs.
Let me know if you have any questions.
    Cheers,

  • First Page is Table and drill down page is chart

    Hi All,
In my dashboard i should display only table. In table, if i select one drill down values. It should display only chart not for table formate.
    How to set this option.
First page it sholuld be table
Drill down page should be chart
    How will do this.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Create two reports one with table and other with chart in compound layout view.Place Table in one page and to to column properties->data format->value interaction->navigation->select chart report that you created under column through which you want to navigate to chart.Make that column as prompted in chart if you want to filter data based on column selected.

  • In OBIEE charts, how do you make drill downs work on custom formulas?

I posted this over on Linked In and didn't get an anser, so I'm hoping someone here has an answer.
I'm writing a summary query / chart for a dashboard in OBIEE 10.1 with a drill down (technically it's a "navigation") for more information. This chart breaks down the data by fiscal quarter and by geography (both are columns in the subject area) and I can get this drill down to work just fine. But I also have this chart broken down by some custom calculated fields (CASE WHEN statements) that classify revenue into Forecast / At Risk / Upside etc. (which are not columns or values of columns within the subject area).
When I add a drill down or navigate function onto those calculated columns, I'm getting a full data set ... not a filtered data set for that particular calculated field. (Yes, I have all of the IS PROMPTED filters set up correctly, and yes the formulas in the source and destination queries are identical).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the drill down or navigation work on custom formulas?
    Thanks
    Ted

  • Drill Down in Charts

    Hi All,
My requirement is to achieve drill down in Stacked Bar Chart. On the click of an item in Stacked Bar Chart i want to drill down and display another Chart based on the selected context.
Need suggestions or sample code to achieve this.
    Help is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sharique

    Here is what i did.
    1. I created a table + chart report.
    2. Duplicated it and made the country column is prompted in second report.
    3. In first report im having country in x-axis and sales in y-axis. and i went to the 'additional charting options' > 'interaction' > 'navigate' and selected the second report.
    4. now i clicked first country. it drilled to the second report and showed the first country alone.
is this what u also did? missed any step?

  • Adding multiple views to a drill down pie chart

    Hi,
I'm currently using OBIEE 10g and have a problem when drilling down on a pie chart.
I have a dashboard named spending analytics and it shows in a pie chart, spending by different categories (airlines, automotive, etc).
When i click on the Airlines slice of the whole pie chart i drill down to a pie chart with the spending from different airlines (American, United, etc)
However, I want to have another level of drill down where i can choose an option as speding by state as well. So, spending by state should be part of the airlines.
Then i should have Total Spending by category(airline) > Spending by type(United) > Spending by state(PA,DC, etc)
    How can this be done?

    Hi User,
Drill Down from Pie chart can be done.
Create a Pie chart report intially, add the same to compound layout.
    Now, edit the pie chart.
You can view, Additional charting options icon. Click on it.
Now click on 3rd tab -> Interaction.
    Select Navigate.
Add Navigation Target. Here, Browse the detail report and add the caption.
Here, you can add as many detail reports as you like.
I have created the same and added 3 different detail reports. It worked for me. Even, i used 10g.
I hope the same with you.
Award some points if it helps you and resolves your issue :)

  • Hiding a row based on the the drill down via table interfaces

I have a requirement to hide a particular row (key field) of a table if a characterisitic (0PLANT) is included in the table.
I have managed to hide the key field via the table interface but need to know how I would see if the characteristic is drilled down (IE included in the table).
Initially I used CAPTION_CELL to establish whether 0PLANT was in the report but when I then removed 0PLANT from the report, CAPTION_CELL is not reprocessed and thus the report is incorrect.
What is the best way to establish what characteristics are included in any report.
    Any help would be appreciated.
