Drill on variables

Hi,
I have requirement as follows:
I need to show quarter wise sales. The quarter wise calculation is done using variables. I need to drill on quarter to show month wise results.

In the universe level use custom hierarchies add objects Quarter and Months one after the other . Export to CMS
In the report level add these quarter Objects in table and then drill down . u will get required result .

I have stripped a screw replacing the had cable, what do I do?

I have stripped the right screw under the black barrier that both the screw and barrier hold down the had cable. Do I have any options? I know it was stupid but hey-ho can't go back and change it now. Thanks for all the help!

Ok I have removed tons of stripped screws. They make a left handed Drill Bit. You need a Reversable Drill and it needs to be on reverse or turning from right to left to unscrew it install the drill bit in the drill and if the drill is variable speed you start id very very slow and right in the middle of the screw. See if you can find an easy out small enough to start in the hole you have made and it will screw right out.
If the head is so damaged you will need a very small chisel and a very small jewelers hammer and put the chissel on the edge of the head and tap it gently to unscrew it remembering that righty tighty lefty loosy.
It is time consuming but it will come out. Without any trouble go slow and easy.

Retain value of Crystal Report variable during drill-down

Dear expert,
In CR, how to have a variable whose value is retained during drill-down? In other words, a variable whose value remains across drill-downs.
I've tried both Global and Shared variables but their values are not retained when drilingl-down (the value is gone or removed).

Drill Through to BW - Variable - Range

Has anyone created a drill through to BW which can pass a range value for a dimension by using the configuration? Was able to create drill through which can pass single value for a dimension, but not with range value.
Example: Would like to pass 2011.Jan to 2011.Mar for the period dimension range. Technical name in BW for the period range variable shows one value and not separate values for Period From and period To.

I am trying DT to ECC funcationality in BPC 7.5 NW version. I am trying to TD from a P&L report based on hierarchies.
I would like to know how people are using drill-through on parent level nodes within their BPC hierarchies.
I hear that there is something called which is a hierarchical view of their objects/metadata in ECC. How is it related to BPC drill through?
In my example, the DT is from a P&L report that consists of Functoinal Area & P_Account (with a mix of hier nodes and base members) and Company Code in Colum (in summarized columns like N. America, Europe, etc). The current View migth have profiit center hier nodes that comprise of multiple base member profit centers.
We would like to to drill thorugh from a cell that is an intersection of FuncArea-Account parent node and Comoamy Code parent node (N. America) to an ECC profict center transaction - K5EZ (Profit center line item).
Any help/guidance with some documentation if possible is appreciated.

WEBI Report Use of Variable in Drill Down

Hi,
i am new to BI Webi report just doing some practice exercise from E fashion Universe. Need your help in creating a WEBI report which should show Sales Revenue broken down to half-year level.
For example:
We have Year, when we drill Year 2004, it should not show Quarter infect i want to see 1st Half Year as Q1;Q2 and 2nd Half year as Q3;Q4 for that year.
For this i have created a Variable "Half Year"
=If([Quarter]InList("Q1";"Q2");"1st Half Year"; "2nd Half Year")
Is there anyway i can use this variable so when i drill Year it should Sales Revenue Broken as Half Year

1) Create Half Year object in Universe.
2) You can create custom Hierarchy in Universe like-
Year
Half Year
Quarter
Then you can drill down to Year>>Half Year>>Quarter

Drill Down and customer Exit variable

Hello together and A Happy New Year!
Please help me with the following topic:
I have a query with 4 selections(fields) in the columns.
In the first selection (F1) I have resctricion to Posting Period via Period to (a user entry variable).
In F2 I have restriction to Posting Period via Period to cust (customer exit based on value of V1 - introduced by the user)
In F3 I have restriction to PP via Period from, Period to (between: user entry variables)
In F4 restriction to PP fia Period from cust, Period to cust (between: customer exit variables)
In the query, if I select in the selection screen Period from 1 and Period to 3, for example, when I make the drill down, only 3 (Period to) is displayed instead of 1, 2 and 3.
If in the query designer I remove from the columns F1 and F2, then the drill down is working properly (having intervals in the other fields: F3 and F4).
Do you have any idea why drill down is not working properly with all 4 fields in the columns?

Presentation Variable value to Drill report OBIEE 11g

Hi ,
We have a requirement to use Parent report prompt value in the drill report. So we have used presentation variable to pass the value.
Issue is when we go to drill report its not showing actual presentation variable value, its giving some other value( eg: we have two values to be passed to presentation variable 'Yes' and 'No' , even though we have selected 'Yes' in the prompt the drill report is showing results for 'No' but when we refresh the drill report its showing exactly as prompt selection.)
And we are using Advanced Sql filter to filter the records .
In 10g it has worked fine but in 11g we are having the issue.

Show Date Variable of report in drill down of report

I am using BI7.0 query designer and i am trying to build in the output of the date used in a variable as output in a drilldown in the report.This date is a keydate i use for making snapshots with APD's.
Example:
Keydate variable value: 01.07.2009
output in report:
Company Code   Date         Amount
    1000           01.07.2009       10
    2000           01.07.2009       20
    3000           01.07.2009       15
I have seen this before once in Bex 3.x designer, i had to use formula variables with replacement path i remember. Unfortunately i don't see how i should do this in the new query designer.
Can somebody help me out?

y cant u use 0CALDAY and then create variable for it
use same 0CALDAY in query design in rows below ur characteristic COMPANY CODE

Drill Through - Object variable or With block variable not set.

I've set up all the relevant drillkeys, the table and the query but I'm getting a "Object variable or With block variable not set." in the browser page when it comes up

Hi,
This frequently happens in a multi-server environment. It is a result of the encryption key between the two servers becoming corrupt.
Go to Server manager on the app box.
Delete the encryption key. (backup first if you like)
Re-create the encryption key
Register msolap90.dll on both servers
I don't have the text for this handy. I think it's: regsvr32 "C:\xxx\xxx\xxxx\xxx\msolap90.dll"
Note: you must use the quotes!
Reboot the DB box
Reboot the App box

Drill Reports (Binding Item Variables)

Does anyone know how to bind to an item variable that does not have a value to return i.e. because the value is blank or missing?
I have summarised data on one page, and when I drillin, I would like to see the detail for the bound items that have missing data.

     I have a stacked column chart which shows demand(past 12 months) and forcast (future 12 months) of various 10 different regions.X axis shows time period and on Y axis shows demand.
     When ever user clicks on a particular region, it should open another dashboard that shows demand drilled down to product level for same time period as above. It also should be another Stacked Column chart having time period on X axis and demand on Y axis but only for a selected region.
     Does Flashvariable passes data to the second chart?
     Please help.

Else, I want to have one more different approach.
Region level demand Stack Chart occupies entire space of dashboard. When user selects a region in Stacked column chart, region chart is hidden and product level chart gets visible and there should be a close button the chart with the help of which user comes back to region chart and again drill down to view another drill down chart for product level demand for the other selected region.

Drill-down report with variable link criteria

I have a report in which the rows displayed will depend on criteria chosen in a prior report. However, there will be more than one row selection report that the detail report can be called from. For example: Choose a salesman from a list box, display orders for that salesman; choose two dates, display orders between those dates.
So the requirement doesn't fit neatly into drill-down example in the tutorial, in which the detail report is tied to a particular value entered in the master report. Rather, I need the underlying query to have something like "WHERE <criteria>". What's the best way to handle the passing of <criteria> within and between the various reports?

I'm not sure you've understood the question. It is the rows I want to differ, not the columns.
When Report 1 is called from Report 101 I want it to "SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE salesman = <selected-salesman>".
When Report 1 is called from Report 102 I want it to "SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE the_date BETWEEN (<date-range>)".
and so on for potentially three or four selection methods.
It's the WHERE criteria I need to pass, not the column expressions.

Drill down of manual cross tab reports with Multi variable subreports

I tried to make a subreport by setting the hyperlink on the group sum of a manual crosstab (http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=1219) by setting Hyperlink to another report object.
The documentation said I should copy and paste the name of the report object in the sub report over into the field in the primary report. As I don' t really know what a report object is this failed. Further I found some code in a sample report to deal with subreports that have multiple parameters. The code was unbelievable; it couldn't be right. So, how do I link my subreports to my reports by passing two parameters to the subreports that represent the row and column label of a given sum.
Further what are the fields in the hyperlink another report object from for:
Select from: //do they want a query here?
Report title: //The don't let you type in this
Object Name: //This seems elective
Data Context:// No clue on this either

Thanks for the reply. I looked through those samples and other samples. The two cross tab samples I could find were CtossTab and Inventory CrossTab. Neither has a hyperlink to a sub report and I believe those were actual cross tabs, not manual crosstabs. When I scoured the web for an answer, all I could find was what was linked. This is going 20 pages deep on google.
Crystal crosstabs are 98% better than the excel power pivot or pivot table. However, with Excel, you can drill down to the details automatically. With crosstabs you can't. I was hoping to replicate this by making each summary in the manual cross tab a hyperlink to a sub report that filters the details based on the row and column just as excel does. There is no sample for this.

Using a Variable Prompt - In an analysis using Top N filter (URGENT)

I have created a variable prompt that is setup in the following way :
Prompt Name : Number_of_rows
User Input : Radio Buttons
Radio Button Values : *1/ 2* (Custom Values)
Variable Data Type : Number
Default Selection : *1* (Specific Custom Value)
I have an analysis/ report that has the following columns Customer ID | Number of Orders
I have applied a top N filter to this report using the varibale prompt :
*Number of Orders is in top @{Number_of_rows}* (which is equivelent to Number of Orders is in top 1 or 2)
However when I view the report im getting the following error

I'll put this as below
My prompt will have the TopN which can be formated by TopN Orders and setting this as Presentation variable as N
SELECT TOPN("#Sales",10) FROM "SA" order by Product
In the report I'm using same column (Orders) with expression as below.
TOPN("#Sales", cast(@{N}{2} as int))
If this is not helpful for you then try to pass some default value for the Presentation variable
