Driving one report from other report

Hi,
I have a scenario where i have two reports on the same dashboard page, say Rep1 and Rep2. If i click on a particular row on Rep1 the values in Rep2 should change accordingly.
The reports Rep1 and Rep2 source data from two different fact tables.
Can some one help me to achieve this.
Its some what like master detail linking in OBIEE 11g however the problem over here is the detail report (Rep2) is not the view of the master report(Rep1) as cited in master detail linking examples for OBIEE 11g.
thx

Hello Petr,
Goto Tcode RSBBS for Report/Report Interface or you can also go through like this... In the SAP Easy Access Menu of the BW system, choose SAP Menu --> Business Explorer --> Query --> Jump Target. You reach the Sender-Receiver Assignment Maintenance screen.
You will find two tab pages:
--> Query: Enter the technical name of the sender query in Sender block or select a query using value help.
--> InfoCube: If you want to assign the same jump target to all queries for an InfoProvider, enter the technical name of the required InfoProvider or select it using value help.
Now press Create which you will find on the left above screen, then a window opens for you to select Reciever details...
You can give any one of the below things as your reciever query.
1. BEx Query
2. BEx Web application
3.BW Crystal Report
4. InfoSet query (queries on Classic InfoSets)
5. Transaction (see Create Transaction as Receiver)
6. ABAP/4 Report
7. Web address (see Create Web Address as Receiver)
Now after completing this screen, you need to give Assignment Details. To do this, highlight your sender-receiver assignment in the Receiver table.
Choose Assignment Details. The Field Assignments dialog box appears.
If you want to make changes to the individual fields, choose the desired settings using input help. You can specify the processing method (Type) for the selection of characteristics and the permissible Selection Type, as well as designating the field as a Required Entry Field.
if you done these steps then only you can find it in the result area of a report from which you have to jump and Right click on the result area, u will get a option called "Goto" click on it u'll get the report names select a report name to which u need to jump.
Hope this helps u...

Ramki.

  • How to run report from other database

    hi,
i have an application running on oracle 10g forms (many forms & reports),i want to run a report from other database using a form,it should be run on this application & same report server. so if it is possible so tell me how can i do this ?
    thxs

If you have another Oracle database you can use the following command to create a link to it from the one you are currently logged into
    CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK my_db_link
CONNECT TO other_oracledb_usernane IDENTIFIED BY other_oracledb_password
    USING 'remote_oracledb_name';
When you issue this command the 'remote_oracledb_name' must exist in your TNSNAMES.ORA file so that the remote database can be 'found'
If this is still not enough info I would suggest that you talk to someone on your DBA team to help set up the link.

  • Calling another report from a report

    just wanna explore the possibility...
    i have a.bat which will call a.rep.
in a.rep, a function will loop and call b.rep.
    is this possible?

    Hi KLC
This is prasanth again. In reports we can call a report from another report which is called "drilleddown reports"
If ur requirement is this one, then we can do this by using SRW builtin called srw.run_report.
    syntax is srw.run_report(reportname,<arguements if any)
Place a push button in report 'a' and put this code in that button.
I think this will solve your problem. I dont know exactly what requirement you have. Because for ur last question regarding distribution not clearly understood, so i suggestion is incorrect. any way i am trying to distribute the date based on sql model and i will suggesst you soon, Since i am also a developer, please try my suggestion but i am not sure that will work 100% correctly.

    I have recently upgraded our Crystal Reports version from Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 to Crystal Reports 2008.     dsReport = null;
    GC.Collect();
    GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers();
Can someone help me resolve the issue.

The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?
    Regards,  Grant.

  • Calling a report from another report

    Hi,
Is there any way ,(any built in ) to call a report from another report in Report Builder 2000 and Report Builder 6i.
    Regards

Try to call report from report by a button in the calling report:
1     In the Layout Model view, click in the tool palette. Note
2     Click and drag a rectangle.
3     Double-click the button object to display the Property Palette.
4     Under the Button Label node, set the Label Type property to either Text or Icon:
n     If the button label is text, set the Text property to the text you want to appear on the button.
n     If the button label is an icon, set the Icon Name property to the name of the file containing the icon (the file must reside in the directory specified by the UI_ICON environment variable).
5     Under the Button Behavior node, set the Type property to PL/SQL.
6     Double-click the PL/SQL Trigger property value field.
7     In the PL/SQL Editor, define the PL/SQL for the action trigger or format trigger when the button is clicked in the formatted report.
8     Set other properties as desired.
9     To activate the button, run the report, then display it in the Runtime Previewer.

  • Calling a report from a report (10g)

    Hi
I am using DeveloperSuite 10g and Application Server 9.0.4 - I am trying to call a report from another report.
I believe I am correct in thinking that as buttons don't exist in reports any more I have to use a hyperlink containing the URL to the reports service with appropriate parameters to invoke the required report.
My problem is that when I click on the hyperlink I do not see the called report, but get an html screen saying "Oracle Report Status - Successfully run".
My hyperlink is formed like this:
    /reports/rwservlet?module=reportb.rdf
Is there an additional parameter I must pass to get the report to display on the client browser window?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Can someone let me know as to what the maximum length of the URL string that could be formed? I believe in IE browser a maximum of 64,000 characters can only be formed. If I need to pass many parameters and the length of the values passed exceeds the default length in IE, the rest of the values will not be captured in the report server.
Please let me know on how to proceed with this problem.

  • Need help on filtering out one record from a report and open in new page

Hi I am new and embarrassed to write in the forum asking silly questions. Thing is I am learning all from scratch without help from anyone. I have created a database (have previous knowledge only from Access) and have managed to create a beautiful report from a search filter. This report lines up several records matching what I needed. Now, I want to make the whole report with hyperlinks to a detailed page on each of the records in the report. I have tried using the feature where one can make one column hyperlinked and redirect to a new page, where I am getting all the records again - instead of only getting the record I am clicking on. I have looked and looked in the forums without finding solution and I have tested and tried various methods without luck. I am suspecting that I need some sort of knowledge on how to write a select query with where conditions that can apply to filtering out a record from one report to get another detailed on only one object (i.e. record). :/ Stupid or what?

    Hrefna.
What you need to look into is two things:
    1) The link you defined, needs to set additional attributes for the target page. In the "Column Link" box, you have set the link to "Page in this Application" and followed by the page number (let's say, Page 10). Below that, you should set an Item to an item on you target page (let's call that P10_PRODUCT_ID). This item should be the primary key of your detail table (on the targe page). You can select this item from the popup list. The Value of the item should be picked from a popup list as well, being the value from the record you clicked on. This should then transfer your selected item to your page. The URL will then have something like P10_PRODUCT_ID:5 at the end.
    2) On the target page, 10, you must change the query slightly, so that it adds a WHERE clause:
    WHERE PRODUCT_ID = :P10_PRODUCT_ID
    Now, you should be set.
    Hope this helps.
