Calling another report from a report

just wanna explore the possibility...
i have a.bat which will call a.rep.
in a.rep, a function will loop and call b.rep.
is this possible?

Hi KLC
This is prasanth again. In reports we can call a report from another report which is called "drilleddown reports"
If ur requirement is this one, then we can do this by using SRW builtin called srw.run_report.
syntax is srw.run_report(reportname,<arguements if any)
Place a push button in report 'a' and put this code in that button.
I think this will solve your problem. I dont know exactly what requirement you have. Because for ur last question regarding distribution not clearly understood, so i suggestion is incorrect. any way i am trying to distribute the date based on sql model and i will suggesst you soon, Since i am also a developer,please try my suggestion but i am not sure that will work 100% correctly.
thans and regards
prasanth a.s.

  • Calling a report from a report in reports 10g !

    Which one is the most easist way of calling a report from a report in Reports 10 g ?
    Capri !

    Actually the scenario is that I have a report in which suppose a list of names is there. I want another report called on the basis of a name selected by passing that name_id as a parameter to the called report.
    In Reports 6i that is easily done by a BUTTON. But i am unable to find a solution here.
    Hope its clear now.

    So far I haven't found a way to use something link "target=_blank"One way would be to use a Dynamic Action to apply the <tt>target="_blank"</tt> attribute to each link, or convert them to use APEX pop-ups or a jQuery lightbox like fancyBox.

    For exporting the report to PDF
    string Filename = Path.Combine(Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.InternetCache).ToString(), Guid.NewGuid().ToString() + ".pdf");
    Report.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, Filename);
    Clean Up Code: (Page_UnLoad event)
    if (Report != null)
         Report.Close();
         Report.Dispose();
    Creportviewer.ReportSource = null;
    Creportviewer.Dispose();
    dsReport = null;
    GC.Collect();
    GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers();
    Can someone help me resolve the issue.

    The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
    The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
    When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
    The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
    We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
    We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
    Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
    The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
    Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?
    Regards,  Grant.

    There is a 1500 character limit and then all formatting is removed to save space. Break you posts into separate entries.

    Hi
    Because the statament CALL TRANSACTION triggers the end of the LUW so COMMIT WORK, so you should be sure not to insert that statament while some updating actions are been doing.
    So that exit shouldn't be triggered while updating

  • Calling another program from the current program

    Hi all,
    In our requirement we are calling another program from our current program .
    In the current program( from which we are calling ) we are giving file name in the selection screen
    and when we run the current program we are successfully going to other program but our main requirement is to higlight the file name which we had given earlier .
    Note :  The called program doesnt have any selection screen.

    HI
    use EXPORT and IMPORT key words for passing data from one program to another program.
    as the called program is available in the same session you can use above key words which means you are accessing ABAP MEMORY.
    You can also use SET and GET key words which means SAP memory
    take F1 help there are examples tooo and detailes explanation abou the same

  • Calling a report from a report (10g)

    Hi
    I am using DeveloperSuite 10g and Application Server 9.0.4 - I am trying to call a report from another report.
    I believe I am correct in thinking that as buttons don't exist in reports any more I have to use a hyperlink containing the URL to the reports service with appropriate parameters to invoke the required report.
    My problem is that when I click on the hyperlink I do not see the called report, but get an html screen saying "Oracle Report Status - Successfully run".
    My hyperlink is formed like this:
    /reports/rwservlet?module=reportb.rdf
    Is there an additional parameter I must pass to get the report to display on the client browser window?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Can someone let me know as to what the maximum length of the URL string that could be formed? I believe in IE browser a maximum of 64,000 characters can only be formed. If I need to pass many parameters and the length of the values passed exceeds the default length in IE, the rest of the values will not be captured in the report server.
    Please let me know on how to proceed with this problem.

  • Call 6i report from 6i report?

    Essentially, the output from 2 different 6i Reports need to be interlaced. A large batch of letters and associated reports each get sent to the printer alternating letter / report / letter / report / ... Each then gets a security cover page, thereby wasting a lot of paper and staff time pulling them out. This is from 2 different rdf/rep files.
    The letter can be done in a repeating frame so that it is one print job, but how can the report be called for each letter?
    run_report_object is not available in Reports
    Ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    By the text it is not very clear what you actually want.
    But if you want to generate a report from already generate report/preview. Then there is button available in reports. by using that button you can generate another report from the already generated report its called "DRILL DOWN" reports. The code for this see in Reports Help by word SRW.RUN_REPORT.
    It is same like that you normally use through form RUN_PRODUCT. See the example in reports help.
    Also have a look on this link's example.

  • Calling discoverer report from Oracle report

    Hi
    I need to call a discoverer report from an Oracle report.
    Could someone pls let me know how you did it?
    Thanks.

    If the Oracle Discoverer Report is accessible by an URL then yes. It will be similar to calling Oracle Reports. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_integrate_oracle_reports.html
