DRM External Connections: Relational Table source

Hi All,
I wanted to know from which version of DRM did the option of importing from a DB source some up.
I see the mention of External connections in the 11.1.2.1 New features.
Has it started from v11.1.2.1?
THanks,
ANindyo

Yes Anindyo. It started from 11.1.2. Earlier it is only a flat file import

  • InfoPath 2010 SQL Data Connection - Related Table is Not a Repeating Group

    I'm creating a InfoPath 2010 database form. In my main connection I want to query a parent table and a related child table. When I go through the wizard, the resulting data structure is not correct.  The child group that InfoPath creates isn't
    a repeating group, but it should be. I've done this many times before and never had this problem.
    In other words, when I open up the main data source, the little blue disclosure triangle is missing from the child group.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    ODBC driver for Excel does not support deleting data.
    I'm afraid there is no solution via SQL as in Oracle to use SQL with Excel you can only use ODBC, see OLEDB in previous versions to 11G.
    Unfortunately with ODBC or OLEDB driver for Excel , DELETE is not supported.

  • Question related to Logical table source

    Hi All,
    I have very basic questions -
    (1) When do we create multiple logical table sources within a dimension?
    (2) If a dimension has more than one logical table sources , when do we need to map the underlying table to other underlying table of logical table sources.
    For exp consider these tables XLE_Entity_Profile, XLE_REgistration , AP_Invoice_ALL
    AP_Invoice_All is a fact table. relationship between XLE_Entity_Profile & XLE_REgistration is (1:M).
    Join info is as below -
    (a) XLE_Entity_Profile.Legal_entity_id = AP_Invoice_ALL.Legal_entity_id
    to get the registration of LE the where clause is as below-
    (b) XLE_Entity_Profile..Legal_entity_id = XLE_REgistration.Source_id and XLE_REgistration.Source_table = 'XLE_Entity_Profile'
    I have created the alias of XLE_REgistration as XLE_REgistration_LE.
    With in a dimension , i have 2 logical table source - XLE_Entity_Profile & XLE_REgistration_LE.
    logical table source 'XLE_REgistration_LE' has where clause 'XLE_REgistration.Source_table = 'XLE_Entity_Profile'
    When i query , LE name , LE Registration Name, i get error like -
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14070] Cannot find logical table source coverage for logical columns: [LE_NAME]. Please check more detailed level keys are mapped correctly. (HY000)
    Le Name is from XLE_Entity_Profile and LE Registration Name is from XLE_REgistration_LE.
    But when using the properties of logical table source ' XLE_REgistration_LE' , i map it to 'XLE_Entity_Profile' ,i get the correct result.
    I am not able to understand why am i getting error in first way of modeling.
    Thanks , Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
    first about logical table sources (lts): you can create different lts for aggregation and/or fragmentation. Aggregation means that data is aggregated on another level among different physical tables. Fragmentation means that the content is different over different tables (other rows).
    In your case, I think the problem is that your dimension is not denormalized, which results in a snowflake.
    What I understand is that you have the following (physical diagram):
    Invoice (fact table) >----- Entity (Dim) >----- Registration (Dim)
    You have the following joins:
    invoice.entity_id = entity.entity_id
    and entity.entity_id = registration.source_id and registration.source = 'something'
    First idea:
    I would create the following join (in physical diagram):
    Invoice (fact table) >---- Registration (Dim)
    Where:
    invoice.entity_id = registration.source_id and registration.source = 'something'.
    Then in your Entity dimension you should create a hierarchy:
    Grand Total Level
    Entity
    Registration.
    In your dimension you should create the first lts: Entity
    Set the aggregation content of this lts to Entity.
    This lts contains only one physical table.
    Map only the entity columns to the Entity physical table.
    Then create the second lts:
    Entity and Registration.
    Set the aggregation content of this lts to Registration.
    This lts must contain two physical tables, Entity and Registration.
    Map the entity columns to the Entity physical table and the registration columns to the registration physical table.
    Let me know if it works or not.

    Stijn

  • Help with universe with multiple related tables/loops

    Post Author: bradwist
    CA Forum: Semantic Layer and Data Connectivity
    Hi. I am relatively new to Business Objects and have been putting together some universes for our use. Most things I can accomplish well enough. However, I've run into an issue that I think fits within this topic. I've got several related tables and I'm looking for the best way to construct the universe to support our queries. The best way to describe them is to say that the database has a table of Person records, and a table of Relationships. One Person may be related to another Person in a number of ways (sibling, spouse, parent, etc). This can be pictured as Person   Relationship     ID -
    < PersonID        -
    < RelatedPersonID or Person1 -< Relationship >- Person2 where Person1 and Person2 really both point to the same physical table. I believe these tend to lend themselves to Aliases. However, each Person table really has a number of subordinate records in tables (addresses, phone numbers, etc). Address1 >--- Person1 -< Relationship >- Person2 ---< Address2 While this can be done (and I've done so), it's difficult to explain to some analysts why this construct is needed in the universe in order to answer a question like: Give me all of Bob's Siblings, their ages, and their addresses. This is a simplification, as our structures actually include other types of Entities (Person, Business, Government, Organizations), all of which can be related to one another. Is there a way that BO Universes will support this structure? Thanks.

    exp system/manager file=exp.dmp log=exp.log full=y at the source database.
    imp system/manager file=exp.dmp log=imp_show.log full=y show=y - create the log file without importing the data
    edit the imp_show.log and extract the statements that are needed to re-create users,roles,alter user and grants.
    Pre-create the tablespaces using SQL*Plus in the target database.
    execute the modified imp_show.log(All DDl's)
    imp system/manager file=exp.dmp log=imp.log fromuser=A touser=B
    Re-compile all the Invalid Objects.

  • Doubts concerning External Connection Pool

    A few questions:
    1. How can I set up an external connection pool with toplink? or in another words, assuming that I have successfully configured a connection pool (and a datasource) on my weblogic app-server, how do I configure Toplink to use the same?
    2. I am trying to achieve the above (refer point 1), by defining my custom connector (by extending TOPLink.Public.Sessions.DefaultConnector). The custom connector provides connections using the dataSource.getConnection(). Now, the question is
    - Where will the pooling happen in this case? i.e. Will Toplink use its own connection pool (populate its own connection pool with container managed data source), and issue connections (container managed) from there or will it make use of the container managed pooling (and ask for connections from the container managed pool, as and when required)? The subtle difference being, weblogic will not be able to validate a connection before issue in the former case.
    3. This question is similar to point 2, but talks in terms of a practical example. Assuming that if I am using the custom connector successfully in my code, then if I pull out the network cord and reconnect again, I expect the container to provide me with a valid connection (as weblogic can be configured to perform a validity check on a connection before issuing). I am getting a 'connection reset by peer' error in my application (indicating that either the container fails to provide a valid connection, or toplink does not use the container managed pool effectively). I guess, Toplink still uses its own pool but this time it is pooling container managed dataSources. Since the connections are issued from Toplink and not container, here is no validation/reconnection happening for the connection, before issue. Please comment if I am thinking in the right direction or not. If not, how you can explain the above failure?
    4. My aim is to utilise the container's connection pool, and Toplink's ability to perform the rest of the things (including transactions). Is that possible?

    Vikas,
    TopLink can easily be configured to use the external connection pool of an server. This can be accomplished with API but more commonly using the sessions.xml configuration file for the SessionManager. In the product we ship examples for WLS that make use of data sources configured in the server. The portion of the sessions.XML file in question is:
              <login>
                   <user-name>weblogic</user-name>
                   <password>weblogic</password>
                   <datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbJTSDataSource</datasource>
                   <non-jts-datasource>java:comp/env/jdbc/ejbNonJTSDataSource</non-jts-datasource>
                   <uses-external-transaction-controller>true</uses-external-transaction-controller>
                   <uses-external-connection-pool>true</uses-external-connection-pool>
              </login>
              <external-transaction-controller-class>oracle.toplink.jts.wls.WebLogicJTSExternalTransactionController</external-transaction-controller-class>
    This sets TopLink up with both data source access to the JTA and non-JTA connection pools. The full example also includes a domain where the data source is configured.
    When TopLink is using the connection pool of the server (external connection pooling) it will not pool its own connections. TopLink will request a connection from the pool each time one is required and release it back when done. This leaves the server responsible for the number of connections available and also for supporting database re-connection.

  • How to define join in physical layer between cube and relational table

    Hi
    I have a aggregated data in essbase cube. I want to supplement the information in the cube with data from relational source.
    I read article http://community.altiusconsulting.com/blogs/altiustechblog/archive/2008/10/24/are-essbase-and-oracle-bi-enterprise-edition-obiee-a-match-made-in-heaven.aspx which describes how to do it.
    From this article I gather that I have to define a complex join between the cube imported from essbase to my relational table in physical layer.
    But when I use Join Manager I am only able to define jooin between tables from relation source but not with the imported cube.
    In My case I am trying to join risk dimension in the cube based on risk_type_code (Gen3 member) with risk_type_code in relation table dt_risk_type.
    How can I create this join?
    Regards
    Dhwaj

    Hi
    This has worked the BI server has joined the member from the oracle database to cube. So Now for risk type id defined in the cube I can view the risk type code and risk type name from the relational db.
    But now if I want to find aggregated risk amount against a risk type id it brings back nothing. If I remove the join in the logical model then I get correct values. Is there a way by which I can combine phsical cube with relational model and still get the aggregated values in the cube?
    I have changed the column risk amount to be sum in place of aggr_external both in logical and phsical model.

    Dhwaj

  • How to trigger a 'delete' across different related tables in ABAP?

    Hello All,
    I am creating database tables for storing different values of features coming under different countries. I have eight tables in my design and there are fields repeating in different tables, which i am connecting through foreign key relationship.
    After entering values to all my tables, if i need to delete a particular field value which is repeating in more than two tables, is it possible to trigger a delete event by which if am deleting the field value in a particular table, all the related field values also get deleted from the respective tables?
    For example, if i have a PRODUCT field in three tables, and if one of the PRODUCT is deleted from a particular table, can i trigger a delete event by which i can delete all the values related to that particular PRODUCT from all the related tables? The PRODUCT is a primary keyfield, and i have maintained proper foreign key relations also.
    I have tried deleting entries using the views and using the database table itself, but only that particular table value is being deleted.
    Is there any function module for triggering a delete?
    Can anyone help me with some solution?Sample code will be helpful.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shino

    Hi,
    My friend it is not advisable to delete any field from a database  table bcoz it's creats incosistance data for all the other related tables, but there r few Function Modules that provide u this functionality.
    Such As:
    G_REPORT_DELETE_ADDFLD_ENTRY
    G_CATT_DELETE_TABLE_ENTRY
    RKE_DELETE_FIELDS_FROM_TABLE

    How do I print out the results correctly in my case of situation?
    Thank you in advance

    I have made a table with this structure:
    I am using java to print out all the results by calling a procedure.
    However, I am not able to get Results.view working in case of object-relation table. This is how I do it in the situation of relational table.
    How do I print out the results correctly in my case of situation?
    There are several things wrong with your code and methodology
    1. The code you posted won't even compile because there are several syntax issues.
    2. You are trying to use/test Java in the database BEFORE you get the code working outside the DB
    3. Your code is not using collections in JDBC properly
    I suggest that you use a different, proven approach to developing Java code for use in the DB
    1. Use SIMPLE examples and then build on them. In this case that means don't add collections to the example until ALL other aspects of the app work properly.
    2. Create and test the Java code OUTSIDE of the database. It is MUCH easier to work outside the database and there are many more tools to help you (e.g. NetBeans, debuggers, DBMS_OUTPUT windows, etc). Trying to debug Java code after you have already loaded it into the DB is too difficult. I'm not aware of anyone, even at the expert level, that develops that way.
    3. When using complex functionality like collections first read the Oracle documentation (JDBC Developer Guide and Java Developer's Guide). Those docs have examples that are known to work.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/java.111/b31225/chfive.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/java.112/e16548/oraarr.htm#sthref583
    The main issue with your example is #3 above; you are not using collections properly:
    String value = rset.getString(i);
    A collection is NOT a string so why would you expect that to work for a nested table?
    A collection needs to be treated like a collection. You can even treat the collection as a separate result set. Create your code outside the database and use the debugger in NetBeans (or other) on this replacement code for your 'printResults' method:
    static void printResults (ResultSet rset) throws SQLException {
        try {
           ResultSetMetaData meta = rset.getMetaData();
           while (rset.next()) {
               ResultSet rs = rset.getArray(2).getResultSet();
               rs.next();
               String ndx = rs.getString(1);
               Struct struct = (Struct) rs.getObject(2);
               System.out.println(struct.getSQLTypeName());
               Object [] oa = struct.getAttributes();
               for (int j = 0; j < oa.length; j++) {
                  System.out.println(oa[j]);
        } catch  (SQLException e) {
           System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    That code ONLY deals with column 2 which is the nested table. It gets that collection as a new resultset ('rs'). Then it gets the contents of that nested table as an array of objects and prints out the attributes of those objects so you can see them.
    Step through the above code in a debugger so you can SEE what is happening. NetBeans also lets you enter expressions such as 'rs' in an evaluation window so you can dynamically try the different methods to see what they do for you.
    Until you get you code working outside the database don't even bother trying to load it into the DB and create a Java stored procedure.
    Since your current issue has nothing to do with this forum I suggest that you mark this thread ANSWERED and repost it in the JDBC forum if you need further help with this issue.
    https://forums.oracle.com/community/developer/english/java/database_connectivity
    When you repost you can include a link to this current thread if you want. Once your Java code is actually working then try the Java Stored procedure examples in the Java Developer's Guide doc linked above.
    At the point you have any issues that relate to Java stored procedures then you should post them in the SQL and PL/SQL forum

  • Filter on the same logical table source on two logical tables is not working properly

    Hi,
    In the RPD, assume that I have a physical table named Employee_fact, created an Alias called D0 Employee Fact
    In the BMM I've two logical tables called Employee_fact_Type1 and Employee_fact_Type2
    Each of these logical tables has the same Logical table source - D0 Employee
    But in each logical table source, I've a filter in where clause
    such as, for Employee_fact_Type1  employee_type = 'XXX'
                 for Employee_fact_Type2 employee_type='YYY'
    These two facts are present in the same BMM and each of them are connected to two dimensions
    such as
    Dept_type1 <- Employee_fact_type_1 -> Tenure_type1
    Dept_type2 <- Employee_fact_type_2 -> Tenure_type2
    In analysis, When I query the columns from Dept_type1 and Tenure_type1, the database query generated shows the condition employee_type='YYY' instead of employee_type='XXX' .
    But, adding the columns from Dept_Type1, Employee_fact_type_1, Tenure_type1 it shows proper filter.
    I checked the relationships, presentation layer for the sources of presentation tables and everything looks good.
    Can anybody tell me what goes wrong here?

    did you set the content level as well?

  • How to "think" use of multiple logical table sources

    Hi everybody,
    i'm new to OBIEE and its paradigm. I'm trying to build a prototype with multiple physical sources: ERD and a Data Mart; I need OBIEE to go to the Data Mart model at the need of aggregated info and to go to the relational model at the need of transactional info. I need to do that working with dimensions, assigning different sources to each logical level of the dimension.
    My problem begins when thinking how to actually do that. Here is my question:
    - Should I add the relational source in the data mart logical table source folders, mapping the same information with joins? If so, how does dimensions work from that point? (drill down)
    thanks in advance!

    I'm a little confused
    Is the problem
    1 - You want to Access a table in an existing 9i database from a different 10g database
    or
    2 - You have a new 10g database as a copy of a 9i one, and a table called system has gone missing?

  • [nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source

    Hi,
    I have two fact tables and a type dimension.
    business model / physical
    fact1 /fact1
    fact2 /fact2
    type /type
    now I have them joined up on the physical layer with foreign keys AND on the business model layer.
    Nevertheless I still get this error whenever I mix and match the columns.
    [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. (for fact table WABFact) does not contain mapping for [Dates.FLIGHTDATE [ ] ]. (HY000)

    Hi,
    The error "Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table XXX) does not contain mapping for YYY" means that the BI Server cannot reach from table XXX to table YYY. It can happen because of two reasons: The first one is that there are no relationships defined in the logical or the physical layers (or maybe both). Note that the connections can be indirect. The second one is that the relationships doesn't makes sense. For example, going from a fact table to a dimension table through many-to-many table cannot happen. You'll see this error many times as a beginner and it can be quite frustrating at first. You need to understand that the BI Server can only understand simple and classic star schemas. More complex ERDs need to be split by using alias tables.
    Thanks to-Miki
