Drop-down liast in Adobe interactive forms

Hello,
We have 3 regions, US, Europe and Asia Pacific and each region has a manager.
Now, am developing a Interactive form with Webdynpro for ABAP (pls. note always FORM is only one) for these regions/managers. Manager pressess submit button for approval.
I have 19 drop-down (Enumerated drop-down with SELECT) fields in this form.
Regardsing the field 'DROP_DOWN_1' :
US manger should get 7 values in the drop-down list with a 'US_DROPDOWN' default, if manager donw want to keep this value, he can change/over ride and submits the form.
Europe manger should get 5 values in the drop-down list with a 'EUROPE_DROPDOWN' default, if manager donw want to keep this value, he can change/over ride and submits the form.
Asia Pcific manger should get 11 values in the drop-down list with a 'ASIA_PACIFIC_DROPDOWN' default, if manager donw want to keep this value, he can change/over ride and submits the form.
Pls. let me know
1) Is DYNAMIC drop-downs possible?
2) If so, where should i mainatin the code, is it in FORM level scrpting? webdynpro abap code?
3) If FORM level script, webdynpro has to pass these drop-down values to FORM via CONTEXT, is it right?
4) Any settings for this dynamic functionality either FORM setinsg to webdynpro settings?

Hi,
There are two options to do that, first by web service which suits best the offline scenario and another by server round trip which is possible in online scenario only.
For web service scenario you have to create data binding in the form with web service data node, (search SDN for suitable document explaining the scenario with web service for more info). Every time the user will choose value from DD the web service will trigger to fetch data based on user input.
Second scenario uses server round trip. In this method you have to call the submit method in web dynpro view with some conditions that it is called through DD to fetch values. Use some flag variable to differentiate between the final submit and DD value help submit.
There is one more option but the performance of the form will get affected based on the data used for the DDs.
In that method you have to maintain the data for each US, Europe, Asia in a table. Based on user input fetch value from that table in the specific dropdown using script on the form.

Are you using LiveCycle Designer or Acrobat to create the form? This forum is for forms created with Acrobat, and dropdowns in Acrobat do not behave the way you want.

Drop down values in Adobe print form, WDA.

Hi All,
I would like to know, how we can dynamically display drop down values in an interactive form developed either through report programme or WD ABAP.
I passed an internal table, but it didnt work.
I tried the ISR way, even then i couldnt get much success.
I even tried using the dynamic properties.
As per my understanding, i need to pass the values as index- text pairs and add some script to the field.
Kindly help on the steps i need to follow. Any suggestions are welcomee [:)]. I require to fetch the DDL values from database tables.

hi,
to populate the dropdown list you can do it...
1). manually or
2). by code
1). manually go to interactive form->edit
 go to Object tab->field tab ->
 you must see something like
 List Items :
 Text + x
 click on the green + sign...
 it promps you to type. type in the value press enter... and so on...
2) by Code...
 //set up contents of a drop down list dynamically...

Drop down menus, loke some other festures, aren’t available at that time.

Creating a dependent drop down box in an interactive form?

Hello -
I'm pretty new to Acrobat and not fluent with JS (I'm a chemist), so please forgive me if this seems a silly question:
I'd like to create a form wherein there are two drop down boxes and the choices seen in the second of the two are dependent upon the choice made in the first. An example of such might be a list of departments in the first field and a list of staff in the selected depertment in the second field.
I'm using Acrobat ver 7.0 (Pro) with Designer, by the way.
I've been able to do this in Excel through use of validation functions, but I'd like to get away from Excel if at all possible.

To keep the department/cities sample; i'll try to explain you how i did it in Designer:
I created a "variable" bloc (at the bottom of the Hierarchy tab) called Cities
An other one called Departments
A last called CitiesFunctions
In the Cities bloc, i declared an array with all cities.
In the Department bloc, I declared an array by department. In each array, i have 2 items : the index of the first city of the department in the cities tab and the index of the last city of the department in the cities tab.
On my form, I created a dropDownList called Department (populated with departments) and an other called cities initialized empty.
On Department change event:
I rase the cities field.
I call my function getCitiesByDpt in my CitiesFunctions bloc with the department in parameter.
In these function I call the array corresponding to the department in the Cities bloc and I populate my listBox cities by the results (tab of cities from parameter 1 to parameter 2 of my Department array).
Carrefull : if a list has too much items, you should create a "manual list" composed of 1 textField, 1 button, 1 listBox (it's better for performance)
After than, always by script, you can restrict you second list by the sequence of characters eventualy keyed in the field Cities.

Im new in Webdynpro ABAP, my requirement is to fill drop down list in adobe interactive form. i created adobe form and its working fine.
I Created context like ROOT(cardinality 1:1)->DATANODE cardinality 0:n. This context is for drop down and in wddoinit i did like this.
IN WDDOINIT ,
DATA lo_nd_root TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
DATA lo_nd_datanode TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
DATA lo_el_datanode TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
DATA ls_datanode TYPE wd_this->elements_datanode.
navigate from <CONTEXT> to <ROOT> via lead selection
lo_nd_root = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_root ).
navigate from <ROOT> to <DATANODE> via lead selection
lo_nd_datanode = lo_nd_root->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_datanode ).
get element via lead selection
lo_el_datanode = lo_nd_datanode->get_element( ).
ls_datanode[] = lt_dna_value[].
CALL METHOD lo_nd_datanode->bind_table

 new_items = ls_datanode
 set_initial_elements = ABAP_TRUE.

while executing i'm getting this error ": WebDynpro Exception: ADS: com.adobe.ProcessingException: No output was generated while rendering: Stream for: PDFOut.(200,101). " . can u please tell me how to bind value for drop down.
I created sample table in same form and i binded same value to table, that time its executing fine.
can u please tell me solution for this Scenario.

Blank value added to dropdown list in Adobe Interactive forms

Hi,
I see blank value being added to the value list by default to dropdown lists in adobe interactive forms. The real issue is it's being added sometimes as the first value or last value in the drop down list of values which is inconsistent and resulting in Errors sometimes.
Is there a way by which we can control the position of the blank value added by default(SAP or Adobe) to the drop down lists in adobe interactive forms .? Secondly , Is this a SAP or Adobe upgrade issue since we observed this issue only after recent upgrades ...?
I am using HCM processes and forms and I am not adding blank value (space) explicitly in my coding of dropdown list values .

Hi Sankeerth,
The Web Dynpro framework generates a blank entry to the value set of the dropdown listbox if the Context attribute bound to the dropdown listbox is "nullable" (see properties of the Context attribute).
The dropdown listboxes of interactive forms will be populated with exactly the same data (value sets) as the "native" Web Dynpro dropdown lisboxes.
For SAP NetWeaver 7 EhP2, there's a Web Dynpro test application (WDR_TEST_ADOBE_ZCI) available, which demonstrates this: Start it and see the dropdown listboxes labeled "Datatype" and "Datatype (nullable)": Both are bound to Context attributes which are of type DATATYPE_D. The only difference is that one of the attributes is "nullable". The dropdown listbox bound to the nullable attribute contains the additional blank entry.
Watch the native Web Dynpro dropdown listboxes below the interactive form: They are bound to the same Context attributes and contain the same value sets as the dropdown listboxes of the interactive form!

Web Dynpro ABAP, Adobe interactive forms and Drag and Drop functionality.

Hi Experts,
is it possible to use Drag and Drop functionality together with Adobe Interactive forms in Web Dynpro ABAP? I consider dragging object (like texts) to interactive form placed in Web Dynpro.

I think I understand but just to make it clear. I use texts created using function module "SAVE_TEXT". In my Web Dynpro I select one or more of them and use the button "insert text" (with appropriate functionality behind it) to insert them to specified location in my PDF form opened in this Web Dynpro. Considering what you said it is not possible to replace this "insert text" button by drag and drop functionality. Am I correct?

Drop down in dynamic table in the Adobe Interactive Form (Web dynpro ABAP)

I have scenario use drop down in dynamic table in the adobe interactive form (Using the button the dynamic table row will be increasing and decreasing).
Assume I Add five rows dynamically in the dynamic table. The Last column contains Drop down.
I have button in the adobe form.
Button Name = u201CSAVEu201D
Button type    = SAP Submit button (Native type u2013 I am Using ZCI).
While clicking save button, I need to store the dynamic table datau2019s to back end system. I can able to store the data to back end system. After form data getting saved those particular values need to display in the adobe form.
Here I am facing a problem.
I cannot able to view as a default value in the drop down, which I have selected some values after save operation I am not getting any values in the drop down as a default.
Example:
The dynamic table contains 5 rows (Each and every row Drop down contains one to ten values).
1)     I have selected second value in the Drop down (ROW1)
2)     I have selected fourth value in the Drop down (ROW2)
3)     I have selected fifth value in the Drop down (ROW3)
4)     I have selected seventh value in the Drop down (ROW4)
5)     I have selected third value in the Drop down (ROW5)
I press the save button that particular Drop down value gets saved in back end system and that particular values want display in the Drop down as a default value.
How to resolve this problem.

I have created the New node for dropdown. also i have one node already for table.
The new node i bind to dropdown, the table same for table.

Filtering Drop-down Values Adobe Interactive Form

Hi,
I am working on adobe interactive form, in which I have a normal drop-down. Now the requirement is, depending on the value of another field (country) , I need to display only the states pertaining to the country being displayed. In my drop-down I get a list of all states irrespective of the country.
I have created an Interactive Adobe form using WebDynpro ABAP. I have populated the view context in my business logic and I am using this context to populate my drop-down. I have a root node named as NODE_ROOT which is of cardinality 1:1 and a child node named as NODE_STATE of cardinality 0:n with State, State_Desc and CountryID as its attributes.
In my drop-down list I have mapped the Item to $record.NODE_STATE.DATA[*], Item_text to the attribute State and Item_Value to the Attribute State_Desc. I have also enabled the "Show Dynamic Binding" option from Tools->Options->Data Binding.
The Drop-down is working fine. I would like to filter these values based on country by making use of CountryID in my form. Is it possible through scripting? If so, how do I do it?
Sample code would be of great help.

Also expalin me how to accept them in the program once the user selects the value from the list. The requirement is I have to call the RFC, get the data and display in the dropdown list at the time of initialization.

Drop down Values in Adobe form

Dear All,
Greetings.
I am using the Adobe interactive form for E Recruitement(copying the standard and changing it as per the requirement). When i am using the Drop down value for one of the field. Instead of the drop down its showing as a POP-UP with all the possible values.
I am not able to predict what the problem is. I need to have a drop down, instead of the pop up.
Please help me in solving the issue.

Hi Ram,
Please use a Enumerated Drop down list ffrom the library, seems currently you have Extended Value selctor in your form.
This will hopefully resolve the issue.

Drop down values in Adobe Forms vanishes upon Check and Send in HRAS

The drop down values in Adobe Forms vanishes upon Check and Send while initiating the process.
I also get the error , u2018 The Entered Value is not on the List of Valid Valuesu2019 when I select the values again and try to SUBMIT.
We are in EHP4u2026 and I am seeing many Notes has been released to address these issues in EHP3 itself..

Thanks for the swift response.
We applied the Note 1413209 and 1403266. The fix didnu2019t work.
I noticed the SAP Note 1403266 mentions a prerequisite Note 1346443 which is for SP4.
We are currently in SP5 and our system mentions Note 1346443 as u2018Cannot be Implemented. u2018
Please advise.
