DROP DOWN LISTS / PICK LISTS

Hi
I am faced with a slight problem. I need to create a drop down
list / pick list giving the user drill down options within the
same drop down. Eg...
Residual Problems
Breathing
Respiratory Distress
Other possible qualifications
Lung Infection
Other possible qualifications
Physical
Broken bone
type of bone
Etc.. etc..
Is this at all possible in Portal.
Your assistance/input would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Raju,
    Base on my test in excel 2013, it works fine.
    Create a new excel file and save as xls
    Add data (data validation for dropdownlist)
    What’s the version of your excel? Could you reproduce that issue in a new file? You may share the sample file on the OneDrive.

  • Show Drop Down List

    We have a report that prints data from a Sales Ticket table. The report has one parameter which is a Shift Start Date/Time. The Shift Start Date/Time is a field in the Sales Ticket table that goes with each Sales Ticket and also a field in a Shift table. When operator closes a shift, the Sales Tickets are updated with the Shift Start Date/Time and a new entry is made into the Shift table.
    Now we need to run a sales ticket report that uses the Sales Ticket table and selects by Shift Start Date/time. Is there a way in the parameter entry screen to show user a drop down of all valid Shift Start Date/Time entries from the Shift table, this is the only way user will know what valid shift parameters exist. Now they have to run a shift report, pick the shift from the report and manually key that in as a parameter.
    Thank you.

    We are on CR XI product version 11.5.8.826.
    I was reading about using a Command Object (connect to your datasource and entering sql command). If this is correct how could I get the result to show in a drop down list and have user select a line and use this as a parameter for creating the report?
    Could you pleaseoint me in a direction where I might pick up some tutorial on how to do this. Thank you.

  • My area is not on the drop-down list?

    just applied for skype number but my area is not on the drop-down list can't get any further until I choose something from the list, what do I do, just pick the nearest area?

    Hi, ladyfromllan, and welcome to the Community,
    Yes, you are correct: you would need to choose a Skype Number nearest where you ultimately wished to have your Skype Number located.  Ultimately, the number would be best situated so that those who call it the most would not incur toll charges; however, that said, Skype Numbers are not available absolutely everywhere for several legitimate reasons.

  • Display look up column as drop down list in a web part in SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
    I have a look up column in SharePoint 2013 calendar list.I want to show that field with values in the page as drop down list to filter the data based in selected value.
    Is it possible through OOB or javascript.
    Please help .
    Thank you.

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to  filter a calendar based a look up column in SharePoint 2013.
    Calendar View not support OOTB filters connection. it is disabled for calendar view, you need to change view(not calendar view) so OOTB filters works and get connected to your view.
    You can achieve this using combination of jQuery and SharePoint OOB techniques.
    For jQuery filters refer to the  blog: enter SharePoint List Filters using jQuery
    Also you can filter Calendar View Web Part using JQuery and SPServices:

  • Refreshing drop down list in a web template based on a query view

    Refreshing drop down list in a web template based on a query view
    I have just developed my first set of portal pages displaying the results of Bex queries and query views in the SAP Netweaver portal. I developed the pages using web application designer. Each web template created with W.A.D is using a query or query view. In one template I have that is using a query view I am using a variable in my Bex query. This variable is of type customer exit, is set to variable is ready for input and calls some ABAP code which returns the current fiscal week number and year. When I run the query or query view in isolation through Bex analyzer the variables gets populated correctly. In my web template I have associated my variable from my query view to a drop down list box. However when I run the Iview created from this template the query results get refreshed but my drop down list box does not, it still shows last weeks week number. How do I get the drop down list box to refresh with the latest result from my customer exit variable?

  • Drop Down list in BPC Input Schedule

    Hi all,
    In an input schedule I need to have some values "controlled", and allow to give a value only among a list of specific values. So I came up on the idea to builld it using cell "validation" feature of native Excel, just like I have been able to find in [this thread|Re: Regarding the Function.......] (by the way, great the hint about using name's ranges for being able to define the list in a different sheet than where it is being used).
    So, I need to achieve one more thing. Let's say that the values I must include in the list are not numerical values, but alphanumerical, so I must combine in the schedule the alphanumerical value with the numerical value it represents. I have played around with excel and BPC formulas for quite a while already but cannot get it to work. Anybody has implented it?
    Regards,
    Rafael
    PS: I get to define the drop down list of values in a cell and get it to write the corresponding numerical value in another cell referenced by a EvSND, but this only works in one direction (the cell does not get updated when I change the current view for example).

    Hi Rafael,
    I've done something similar.
    In one cell I've put a drop down list, using Excel's data validation. The members in the list are human-readable text values, so the user can select one of these descriptive values.
    In a second cell, these text values are transcoded into numeric values, thanks to function VLOOLUP. This cell is in the data range of an EvDRE expansion area, so when the user saves data the numeric value gets written to the back-end.
    In a 3rd cell I fetch the numeric value currently saved on the server, via an EvGET.
    In a 4th cell, I transcode that value into the corresponding text value, using another VLOOKUP function.
    Finally, I've used function AFTER_REFRESH to read the content of the 4th cell, and set the value of the drop-down cell to that value. The VBA instruction to do the latter thing is something similar to:
    ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = <the value of the 4th cell>
    This way, the drop-down entry selected by default after refreshing data is the value currently stored on the server.
    However I still miss something. I've set the Excel validation only in the 1st cell of the 1st row, and I want that the EvDRE expansion copies the validation to all other cells in all rows resulting from expansion. But this does not happen! Validation is not copied during expasion.
    How's that? Everything else is copied--values, formats, formulas. Why validation is not copied?
    * UPDATE
    I've solved this issue. The solution is described here:
    http://scn.sap.com/thread/3209213
    Rafael Moreno wrote:
    Hi Ethan,
    yes, you are right, with VLOOKUP you get the information I want, but only in ONE direction. By "one direction" I mean that I can get in the cell with the VLOOKUP the text I want by reading a (numerical) value from a different referenced cell. But I would also need to be able of changing value in that same cell (by picking up one of those text values from a drop down list) and having the corresponding numerical value written on the referenced cell. Can you see the difference?
    In few words, I would need a cell to read and write a value (just as the raw EvSND allows), but converting the numerical value into its corresponding text value.

  • Error while populating drop down list with values from a database

    Hi all,
    I have a JSP page with a drop down list that is to be populated with values from a database.
    This is the code in my JSP file:
         <!-- Form for picking the floor -->
             <!-- Get the available floors -->
             <% ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = dataManager.getAllFloorNumbers();
                Iterator<Integer> iterator = floornumbers.iterator(); %>
             <!-- Create the form for users to select the floor -->
             <form id="floorselectionform">
                  <input type="hidden" name="action" value="floorselected"/> <!-- Guides the servlet to redirect to the appropriate page -->
                  Select floor | <select name="floorselector" id="floorselector">
                       <% while (iterator.hasNext()) { %>
                       <option value="<%=iterator.next().intValue()%>"> <%=iterator.next().intValue()%> </option>
                       <% } %>
                  </select>
                  <input type="submit" value="Go!"/>
             </form>   The DataManager.java class simply forwards this to its respective Peer class, which has the code shown below:
          package seatplanner.model;
        import java.sql.Connection;
        import java.sql.ResultSet;
        import java.sql.SQLException;
        import java.sql.Statement;
        import java.util.ArrayList;
        /* This class handles all floor operations */
         public class FloorPeer
         /* This method returns all the floor numbers */
         public static ArrayList<Integer> getAllFloorNumbers(DataManager dataManager) {
            ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = new ArrayList<Integer>();
            Connection connection = dataManager.getConnection();
            if (connection != null) {
              try {
                Statement s = connection.createStatement();
                String sql = "select ID from floor order by ID asc";
                try {
                  ResultSet rs = s.executeQuery(sql);
                  try {
                    while (rs.next()) {
                      floornumbers.add(rs.getInt(1));
                  finally { rs.close(); }
                finally {s.close(); }
              catch (SQLException e) {
                System.out.println("Could not get floor numbers: " + e.getMessage());
              finally {
                dataManager.putConnection(connection);
            return floornumbers;
         }  The classes compile properly, but when I load this page up in Tomcat it just freezes and does not load the form. I tested the DB connection and it works fine.
    What am I doing wrong in the JSP code?
    Thanks for the help in advance.
    UPDATE: I commented out the form, and added <%=floornumbers.size()%> right above the commented code to check if the ArrayList is indeed getting populated with the values from the database (the values are of type integer in the database). The page still freezes like before. I'm puzzled now :confused: .

    Wrong usage of Iterator.
    <!-- Form for picking the floor -->
             <!-- Get the available floors -->
             <% ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = dataManager.getAllFloorNumbers();
                Iterator<Integer> iterator = floornumbers.iterator(); %>
             <!-- Create the form for users to select the floor -->
             <form id="floorselectionform">
                  <input type="hidden" name="action" value="floorselected"/> <!-- Guides the servlet to redirect to the appropriate page -->
                  Select floor | <select name="floorselector" id="floorselector">
                       <% while (iterator.hasNext()) {
                                    Integer inte = iterator.next();
                            %>
                       <option value="<%=inte.intValue()%>"><%=inte.intValue()%></option>
                       <% } %>
                  </select>
                  <input type="submit" value="Go!"/>
             </form>or make use of enhanced loop as you are already using J2SE 5.0+ for avoiding confusions.
    <!-- Form for picking the floor -->
             <!-- Get the available floors -->
             <% ArrayList<Integer> floornumbers = dataManager.getAllFloorNumbers(); %>
             <!-- Create the form for users to select the floor -->
             <form id="floorselectionform">
                  <input type="hidden" name="action" value="floorselected"/> <!-- Guides the servlet to redirect to the appropriate page -->
                  Select floor | <select name="floorselector" id="floorselector">
                       <% for(Integer inte:floornumbers) {%>
                       <option value="<%=inte.intValue()%>"><%=inte.intValue()%></option>
                       <%}%>
                  </select>
                  <input type="submit" value="Go!"/>
             </form>and a lot better thing would be making usage of basic Taglib provided with JSTL spec or struts spec which make life easier and simple.
    something like usage of <c:forEach/> or <logic:iterate/> would be lot better without writing a single scriptlet code.
    Hope that might help :)

  • UI - How to make Columns in a Drop Down List Selection?

    I am altering a code from Peter Kahrel "Beginning Script UI". I am trying to make a searchable drop down list that will have 4 columns. So far, the search works and I have headings in the search, but I cannot seem to make the columns for the actual data. I believe I need to change the type_ahead since the array is looking at this data. I'm stuck in the water. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get the list to show up as columns? How do I turn the picked = type_ahead data into four columns? Code and Screenshot below:
    picked = type_ahead (["bat", "bear", "beaver", "bee", "cat", "cats_and_dogs",
    "dog", "maggot", "moose", "moth", "mouse"]);
    function type_ahead (array)
    var w = new Window ("dialog", "Quick select");
    var entry = w.add ("edittext", [0, 0, 800, 22]);
    entry.active = true;
    var list = w.add ("listbox",  [0, 0,800, 500], "",
    {numberOfColumns: 4, showHeaders: true,
    columnTitles: ["Non-Approved Word", "Approved Alternative", "Approved Use", "Non-Approved Use"], columnWidths: [200,200,200,200]});
    list.selection = 0;
    entry.onChanging = function ()
    var temp = this.text;
    list.removeAll ();
    for (var i = 0; i < array.length; i++)
    if (array[i].toLowerCase().indexOf (temp) == 0)
    list.add ("item", array[i]);
    if (list.items.length > 0)
    list.selection = 0;
    entry.onChange = function () {w.close (1)}
    if (w.show () != 2)
    return list.selection.text;
    else
    w.close ();

    Hi Peter,
    This is one of those developments that push the limits of my knowledge-base and when things do that, I lose sleep until I figure it out. With that said :-) here is where I have ended up.
    Basically I made a new array for the table data.  I then use an array lookup to sort the array in the listbox based on the 0 array item. See the code below. Once it is loaded type in "b" and the list will start to sort.
    I need to try to get this to work as a pallete instead of a dialog box. Do palletes support this type of functionality?
    var newarray = new Array(
    new Array('Butterfly ','has wings','can fly'),
    new Array('bohemith moth','has wings','cannot fly very good'),
    new Array('word 3','replacement word','use case'));
    picked = type_ahead (newarray);
    function type_ahead (array)
    var w = new Window ("dialog", "STE Checker");
    var entry = w.add ("edittext", [0, 0, 800, 22]);
    entry.active = true;
    var list = w.add ("listbox",  [0, 0,800, 500], "",
    {numberOfColumns: 3, showHeaders: true,
    columnTitles: ["Column 1",  "Column 2", "Column 3" ], columnWidths: [200,200,400]});
    list.selection = 0;
    entry.onChanging = function ()
    var temp = this.text;
    list.removeAll ();
    for (var i = 0; i < array.length; i++)
    if (array[i][0].toLowerCase().indexOf (temp) == 0)
    with (list.add ("item", array[i][0]))
    subItems[0].text = array[i][1];
    subItems[1].text = array[i][2];
    if (list.items.length > 0)
    list.selection = 0;
    entry.onChange = function () {}
    if (w.show () != 2)
    return list.selection.text;
    else
    w.close ();

  • Drop down list in Adobe forms

    Hi All,
    I need to provide a drop down list in the Adobe form. I am calling this form from an SE38 program. I have selected the 'Value Help drop down list' element. How do i pass the value or bind the values to this element. The values for the drop down list are selected from a standard table at runtime.
    I tried using Enumerated drop down list also but did not work.
    Any idea????
    Thanks,
    Prakash Pandey

    Hi ,
    Thanks for posting this, saved me a lot of hassles trying to program something. One question. My values are in a nested table. e.g. I have a table with criteria for an appraisal. The criteria have a dropdown on them with a ratings. So, one appraisal, many citeria, many possible rating values. When I put in your code, e.g. $record.APPRAISAL.CRITERIA.DATA[].RATINGS.DATA[] , I get all Ratings relevant to all criteria on each line for the criteria table, not just for the criterion they belong to. How do I specify that it should only pick up the ratings for the current criterion ?
    Hope my explanation makes sense
    Thanks !

  • Binding Drop Down Lists

    Hello,
    I am trying to figure out how i can bind drop down lists. I want it so if you choose a certain selection in drop down list 1, then you are only able to pick a certain selection out of drop down 2. So basically each selection in drop down 1 will give you different options to select in drop down 2. Sorry if i made that really confusing. Thanks

    Hi,
    Here is a mock-up version of the spreadsheet.
    The first dropdown has the nine categories set in the Object / Field tab. Also have a look in the Object / Binding tab as there are values specified for each of the nine categories. These will be used later in the script.
    The second dropdown does not have any values specified in the Object / Field tab.
    Instead there is script in the exit event of the first dropdown. This is a switch statement that first of all looks at the bound value ("9030") of the choice that the user has made ("9030 National Marketing"). The statement then looks at each case until it gets to one that matches; then it runs the script for that case and then breaks from the switch statement.
    Each case starts off with:
    DropDownList2.clearItems();
    DropDownList2.rawValue = null;
    This is important because this clears the list in dropdown2 and sets its value to null. These two lines are then followed by a series of addItem() script which goes through all of the types in that category.
    I have scripted all of 9030 and the first five lines of 9031. This should get you out of the traps. It is a bit of a pain, but just copy and paste downwards.
    Each case ends with a "break;" and the last "}" closes the switch statement.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • When trying to assign IP reservation in IPAM, Domain does not appear in Forward lookup zone drop-down list

    I am trying to assign reserved IP Addresses through IPAM that is installed on a Server 2012 OS.  Here is the procedure I have been following:
    Login to IPAM server
    Open Server Manager
    In left-hand column select IPAM
    In left-center column expand IP ADDRESS SPACE
    Select IP Address Range Groups
    Right-click the appropriate address range and select Find and Allocate Available IP Address
    In new window, scroll down to Basic Configurations
    I can input the basic configurations with no problem.  DHCP Reservation Synchronizations look good too.  But when I get down to DNS Record Synchronization, I can't do anything with the Forward lookup zones because nothing appears in the drop-down
    lists and I cannot manually enter the zone name.  Here is a screen shot of what I see at this point:
    Without completing this information, I cannot complete the Address Reservation.
    Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Tom LaLumiere

    Hi Tom,
    This happens if your DNS servers that are managed by IPAM are not authoritative and primary for any zones, if they are not authoritative for the appropriate zones, or if there are not any DNS servers managed by IPAM.
    See the examples below. Here my DNS server is authoritative for 4 forward zones and 2 reverse zones. I can choose any of the forward zones but assuming I pick a range such as 10.0.1.0, I would be unable to choose the 168.192.in-addr.arpa zone because the
    IP addresses do not match.

  • Selection from one Drop down populates a second drop down list

    I have a form connected to a database. The database contains columns for project number, name, company name, address, etc.
    The first drop down I would select a distinct project number, once selected I'd like the second drop down to contain a selection set of all the companies assigned to that distinct project number.
    I'm assuming that this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Todd

    Thanks Paul,
    The 4th example in the Webinar is what we used to auto populate a users contact information when selecting their name from a drop down list. This name drop down has all the names in a particular table of the data base, we would like to filter that down by first selecting a project number from a drop down list which would cause the names to filter down to just those associated with the project number picked.
    Is there scripting that can be done that can accomplish this? We can get a single name to show in the drop down but it doesn't seem to want to return a list. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Todd

  • Drop-down list database question

    Hey there. So this is what I want to do. I want a drop-down list that would have hundreds of possible choices. The user could pick one and several text fields throughout the document would populate accordingly. I'm assuming there would have to be a database of some sort where all the data would live, and a way to tell live cycle that all of certain fields are connected and need to change depending on that first drop down. I hope that makes sense.
    While that would work, the even better idea would be some kind of a menu within the form for picking the initial item. I understand that would probably be more complicated, but a way for the user to navigate through several categories to find the proper item would be absolutely great.
    I don't expect anyone to do this for me... I'm just having trouble finding a responsibly simple walk-though so that I can figure it out myself. So if anyone has a sample form that does this, or has an idea of the best kind of database to use, that would be great.
    Thanks in advance!!

    OK to narrow this question down a little more, since I posted this, I was able to create a simple access db and create a drop-down list that would have the specified column drop down and I could pick it. Now I just need to figure out how to make a separate text box display the information from the corresponding column of what was picked from the drop down. I think once I can get that done, building the rest of the database and sorting out the fields needed should not be too hard. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
