Drop table- is it done in cascade-way for related objects

If i drop database table, then will everything related to that table be dropped/erased?
I mean will the table constraints be removed from system tables, wil lthe grants be revoked/deleted from schemas that had grant on that table, and so on?

Yes,
drop the table directly but take care of dependencies!
if you are not 100% sure, you can rename the table:
alter tabletodrop rename to ifwheredropped;and check all invalid objects:
select * from all_objects where status!='VALID'and recompile them .. and check if you'll still have dependencies (errors)

  • Af:table filtering(inputDate) don't show results for a specific search date

    Hi again to every one.
    I have a database table as :
    sql> describe YES_NO_DATE_TEST
    FECHA TIMESTAMP(6) --> param search
    DESCRIPCION VARCHAR2(200 CHAR)
    VERIFICADO VARCHAR2(1 CHAR)
    I created my Bussines Components, I have a search page, I drag and drop this DataControl as af:table, called : YES_NO_DATE_TESTView1, to a jspx page ( search page ), I enabled sorting and filtering properties in the af:table .
    af:inputDate value="#{vs.filterCriteria.Fecha}" id="id1">
    <af:convertDateTime pattern="#{bindings.YesNoDateTestView1.hints.Fecha.format}"/>
    </af:inputDate>
    I run the search page, and show me a : af:inputDate , for choose and put a date.
    but, when I choose a date, and press the enter key, the search result by af:inputDate, do not show me nothing.
    How I can solve that ?
    Note :
    In the UI Hints of View Object I put this properties :
    format type : simple date
    format : dd-MM-yyyy
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0

    wht is the database column type..??
    It's a TimeStamp Type. ----> FECHA TIMESTAMP(6)
    what is the query that is getting executed in the backend... when you do the search... ?
    My query in the server is :
    Select
    FECHA,
    DESCRIPCION,
    VERIFICADO
    FROM YES_NO_DATE_TEST;
    are you getting the expected results when you run the query..??
    Yes , I m . The query above is made for the View Object. But I don't why when I put a date in the af:inputDate the search don't show me the results that I hope.
    Or , Need I to Programaticallly access to the InputDate and passed to a bind variable on the query ??

  • Best way for Java objects to relate to DB tables

    When creating a Java app which relies on a backend DB, it is convenient (and necessary) to create Java classes which relate to the data in those tables. However with a normalised set of tables, should the Java classes relate purely to the tables, or the "view" of the un-normalised data?
    e.g. (rough example of what I mean)
    CREATE TABLE teams
    team_id INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
    team_name CHAR(50)
    CREATE TABLE users
    user_id INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
    user_name CHAR(50),
    team_id INTEGER REFERENCES teams(team_id)
    Now, the Java class for a user could have either have a variable (e.g. teamName) declared as an int (to fully reflect the table design) or a String (to represent the "view" of the data). I know that views can be used etc. and in this example that would be very easy I am just using these simplified tables as an example.
    I have tried both and both have pitfalls. For instance, when getting the data from the database, it is very easy to create the object from the DB if it reflects the view of the data. However when it comes to updating the data in the DB, you need to do a lot of other work to find out what needs updating in which tables, because the actual raw data (as will be inserted/updated with SQL commands) is not available in the Java object.
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thanks.

    My question is what is the best way to write the classes that represent the DB data. As I said this is not EJB (that would handle the DB side of things anyway), as this is overkill for this particular situation. It was more of a general question anyway - should the class contain the actual data (e.g. should the user Class contain a String for the team name (e.g. Purchasing) or a link to the underlying DB id for Purchasing.
    In reality, I would create a Team class, but the same applies - should the Java Class ever contain any relationship to the underlying DB. I think not, but it seems inefficient to have to continually query the DB to find out information we already have.
    Apologies if I am not explaining this very well.

  • EEWB: Insert New Table with more than one key field  for BP object

    Hi Gurus,
    I want to enhance Business Partner object with a new table with two key fields, one the address number and another a sequence number, because I need to save several entries for each address belonging to a determined business partner. Something as what happens in communication data (i.e fax number)for an address.
    I have run the wizard from EEWB but the only possibility that offers you is to create only one key field for the new custom table. There is something in EEWB to achieve this, two key fields for the new table?
    Another question is the following: which Badi or BAPI must I enhance to populate my table with the corresponding address number to which the data belong to?
    I mean my custom data are filled through a table control that I have allocated within the screen sequence BUA130 (Detail Address). Thus, when a new address is added to a BP and my particular table control is populated within this address I should fill the key fields from my table (address number and sequence number) when the BP were saved. So, I must know beforehand which address number the system will assign to this new address.
    I repeat the question: which Badi or BAPI must I enhance to populate my table with the corresponding address number to which the data belong to?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Best way to recover from "drop user; drop table space"

    The senario that I am stuck on is.

  • Drop Tables from Excel

    This is my code that I want to excecute using ORAOLEDB driver in Excel. It executes fine from Rapid/SQL but it will not run in Excel and I am not finding any docuemntation on much of anything to do with oraOLEDB.

    My goal for all this is.
    To run a main set of quiries to get the data formated the way I want, then for serveral worksheets I will do quries off the main query to get the specific data. So using Temp tables may not always be the way I need to go.
    The error when running the Main query is this (I think this may be because it does not return data, but not sure).
    "The Query did not run, or the database table could not be opened.
    Check the database server or contract your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available and hasn't been moved or reorganized, then try the operation again."Well, that's not much information to go on. :-/
    a) Running queries off a main query is tantamount to a query loop and sounds like it'll be slow. If you really can't do it all in a single query then fair enough, but always aim to incorporate everything in a 1 hit query if you can so that all the work is done in the SQL engine, which is the best place for processing data.
    b) The fact the "query did not run", I'm guessing is referring to you calling that procedure you've shown us? (If not show us what it is doing at the time). If that procedure is not running you need to determine why not, so perhaps add some debug messages (log them to a table or something with an autonomous transaction procedure) and see how far it gets. It could be something as simple as needing explicitly granted permissions on those tables rather than relying on role based grants. It could also be to do with dependencies, because dropping tables at run time can render other things "invalid", which is why Oracle provides Global Temporary Tables so you don't have to create and drop tables at run time.

  • Generating the DROP TABLE statements in the correct order

    DB Version:11.1.0.7.0
    I have been given a list of 250 unwanted tables to be dropped. Because of the FK dependancy, the DROP TABLE statements has to be in the right order. ie Drop the child table first and then the parent.
    Is there way to generate a script (from a given list of tables names) which will create the DROP TABLE statments in the right order?

    Have you tried CASCADE CONSTRAINTS?

    You can't used directly a DDL statment.
    But you can use an EXECUTE IMMEDIATE in your process.
    SO
    BEGIN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE ' DROP TABLE STATPHI_595730051';

  • Drop table if exists in sql statement

    Oracle: 10G
    Is there a way to check if table exist and then only drop table. Something like:
    drop table (select table_name from user_tables where lower(table_name) = 'o2i_filing_dest')

    As already suggested, you could e.g. use an anonymous PL/SQL block as part of your SQL script, e.g. something like that:
    set echo on
    spool <your_log_file>
    WHENEVER SQLERROR EXIT FAILURE
    DECLARE
      PROCEDURE EXEC_DONT_FAIL( P_CMD IN VARCHAR2 ) IS
        e_table_or_view_does_not_exist exception;
        pragma exception_init(e_table_or_view_does_not_exist, -942);
        e_type_does_not_exist exception;
        pragma exception_init(e_type_does_not_exist, -4043);
        e_sequence_does_not_exist exception;
        pragma exception_init(e_sequence_does_not_exist, -2289);
      BEGIN
        EXECUTE IMMEDIATE P_CMD;
      EXCEPTION
      WHEN e_table_or_view_does_not_exist OR e_type_does_not_exist OR e_sequence_does_not_exist THEN
          NULL;
      END;
    BEGIN
      EXEC_DONT_FAIL('drop type <type_name1> force');
      EXEC_DONT_FAIL('drop view <view_name1>');
      EXEC_DONT_FAIL('drop table <table_name1> purge');
      EXEC_DONT_FAIL('drop sequence <seq_name1>');
    END;
    CREATE TABLE ...Note that the literals in angle brackets are just placeholders for demonstration purposes, you need to use your actual object names/file names there.
    Of course you could also use a FOR ... LOOP in the PL/SQL block that queries e.g. USER_OBJECTS to find out which objects to drop.
    That way it is ensured that only expected exceptions will be ignored but all others will raise and stop your script in that case.

  • Can I use gpt to recreate/unerase a partition table? (Rebuild the GPT/GUID partition table?)  I don't want to do FILE recovery.

    (Yes, I've  googled a bunch and read threads like this one already.)
    Can I use gpt or some other app to recreate/unerase a partition table?  That is, how can I rebuild a disk's GPT/GUID partition table?)  I don't want to do FILE recovery.
    What happened: Instead of erasing a single partition off a disk with many partitions, the entire partition table was erased (using Disk Utility, w/o deleting the underlying files).  Somehow the "Erasing a disk deletes all data on all its partitions." warning message was missed.
    I have a copy of the output of df, with the number of blocks in each partition, from just prior to the erasure, so I should be able to recreate the GPT/GUID partition table.  Editing the GPT with a hex editor is not feasible.  Simply recreating the partitions with Disk Utility will overwrite the key filesystem tables on each partition, and I don't want to do that, plus Disk Utility doesn't allow me to specify exact partition sizes anyway.
    Surely there's an app for rebuilding the partition table (other than emacs' hexl-mode!) for recreating/unerasing a partition table when the partition sizes and orders are known?  I've looked at the advertising for a bunch of recovery software and none of them clearly indicate that they will do what I want.
    I guess I can try using gpt on a copy of the reformatted drive I've made with dd, and see what happens.  But perhaps someone knows of a tool that should do what I need, or knows if gpt is that tool or not.
    There are answers and tools that will do FILE recovery - search for files and recover the ones that aren't fragmented or deleted.  As far as I can find, they just look for files on the disk, and don't pay much, if any attention to the filesystem info or directory heirarchy, which in this case is valuable.  Of course I could send it in to DriveSavers, or the like.  But none of that seems necessary, and the scavenging file recovery apps won't do the job well,
    E.g. some are mentioned here:
    I don't want to do FILE recovery.
    Thanks for any help.
    The links in this post are to pages describing the underlined term, e.g. the man pages for df and gpt.

    Aperture has the ability to work with files in their existing location. They are called "referenced masters." When you import images, you should select the "In their current location" in the "Store Files:" drop down box. Have a read of the documentation for full specifics. Unsure how you can resolve your duplication; might be some work but next time have a read of the manual first
    Information for versions is stored in the Aperture database (library file). The masters can be inside the library file itself, or they can be somewhere else.

  • Dropping tables in Oracle 10g Express

    I have several schemas created in my oracle express db. And I have created 1 user, 'met' that has privs to do anything in any schema.
    If user met drops a table in the acct schema, it does not go in the acct recyclebin like I would think. It is renamed BIN$...... and left in the acct schema.
    If acct drops a table in the acct schema, then it shows up in the acct recyclebin as the same name it had in the schema.
    We have 40+ schemas, and I don't want to login as each individual user to manage there tables, I want one account to manage them all, but do not want to leave alot of BIN$..... tables in the schema when I drop a table.
    I know I can purge them, and remove them for good, but If I want to drop a table, and have a backup for a while, I want it to be in the recyclebin.
    Anyway to fix this, or is this just how it work?

    You may want to use the purge command:
    PURGE recyclebin;
    Or disable the recycle bin parameter, which will diables the flashback feature and won't allow you to recover any mistakenly dropped table:
    RECYCLE_BIN=FALSE;

    SQL> create team.table1(col1 char(1));
    SQL> drop table team.table1:
    How can this be set up?
    Ben

    Here is what you can do, If you want to keep track of what users are doing.
    Open the glogin.sql file and set the spool like this
    spool /oracle/audit/SID_&_user.logEverytime user logs in it will be populated and you will be able to see who is doing what.
    You can remove the write permission on glogin.sql so that no one can modify it.
    You also need to create a script like this, which would rename it every time same user would login.
    #!/bin/ksh
    time=`date +"%b"_"%d"_"%H"_"%M"`
    ##you need to pass some more variables and while loop to include all the users## ( This is just for an example)
    if [ -f /oracle/audit/SID_SYS.log ]
    then
    mv /oracle/audit/SYS.log /oracle/audit/SYS.log.$time
    fiEdit the glogin.sql file with this script information like this
    host /oracle/audit/file.kshHope this helps, if you need more information let me know.
