Dropdown funda using input field

Hi
I wanted to do something as follows
in drop down u have options rite so i wanted those drop down options in a inputfield
meaning when the user clicks on some button besides the input field then i want to open a drop down kinda box where all the options are displayed in the form of a tree and the user selects it it should be populated in the input text field ( i know that we can use a pop up window and a table with all the options inside it but i want this in a tree view and that to the dropdown like box should be xactly below the input field) any help will b appreciated.

there is some reason behind why i am using input field for achieving this drop down functionality
i have achieved what i want by doing the following way
i have changed my layout to row layout and in the first row i have created the input filed and a button
and in the second row i have created the tree structure i wanted and made it as invisible ok
when the user clicks the button the tree will open up and the according to what the user selects i have set to the context from which the input field is set ( so the selected thing has ben displaying)
the problem in this method is
all the contents which are after the row 3 are moving down when i am making the tree visible which i dont want
so i am searching for the alternatives. i know that EVS or SVS will help but according to my need i want a tree with options rather than table with options( as the case with EVS or SVS )
any ideas will help me alot

we found a new problem in applications which use input fields with type=file running in a browser on Microsoft Windows XP with SP2.
A typical test layout might look like:

I have an issue to add 2 dropdownlist boxes the value of one will decide the entries in second drop down.ie dynamic selection.Now i want to use both these values selected for searching Knowledge Base in the view SolSText.htm in IC_BASE application.
Now My question is there is a context node attached to the page SOLUTIONSEARCH and there is also a custom controller in the background.
so i have enhanced the structure of this context node to add my fields.how do i assign the values to custom controller..do i need to enhance the custom controller also..so as to retain my entered values during page transitions.

Yes, you would need to enhance the custom controller.
However, by their nature, custom controllers are used in a number of places which would mean substituting your enhanced version in all these locations. What you can do is create your own custom controller and load it via the profile XML (CRM 4.0):

Auto population of data to fields based on other input field.

In overview screen, I have one input field "Business Partner" which contain search help. As soon as business partner selected from dropdown, the other input fields like Name, Address, City, state should automatically populated without hit of 'ENTER' key.
I verified with method DO_PREPARE_OUTPUT, but it is triggering only by hitting ENTER key. Is there any event or method which will trigger after business partner selected from dropdown? or any other option to achieve to auto populate the fields.

You can use the get p method for setting up the values without pressing the enter.
CASE iv_property.
    WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
      rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_picklist.
    WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_server_event.
      rv_value = 'AI_SELECT'.( you can give here the event name)
    WHEN OTHERS.
ENDCASE.
Define event with the same name above( AI_SELECT),
You can set the value of fields based on the first field value within this event.

Want the data store values to be displayed in input field of form

Hi,
I wanted to know wether is there possibility of displaying the data in a input field instead of expression field.
In our model i have used a form which has material type,plant and Vendor connected to data service1 in turn gives the out put in chart and i also have the second input form which has To(0CALMONTH) combo box which is connected to Data service2 and gives the data in table.
But what i wanted is to i also want to use the input fields of first form to second Data service2 and get the data based on on inputs of form1 and form2i.e also To field.
We can connect the port from form1 to DS2 but problem is we need to click the submit of form1 and form2 and it doesnt gives the output according the input of form1 and form2 as it gives the output of that form when we click that submit button.
I have followed help.sap for data tore procdure.
So i have used a datstore where i will store the values of form1 and call it in expression field which i will add and hide it in form2(hide because user should not see that input fields).
Formula used in data store for expression field.
IF(CONTAINS(STORE@matltype,@Material_Type),STORE@matltype,STORE@matltype &(IF(LEN(STORE@matltype)>0,'; ',''))&@Material_Type)
But whats happening is the value is getting concatenated when i goon change the values in input field, so i wanted to get the values to be replaced as soon as i change input field of form1(if use replace function its not working) and also it would be more preferrable if we use input field instead of expression field.
I would also like to know is there any alternate solution for the above requirement instead of datastore.

I have Form1 connected to Data service1 displays the data in a Chart and i have another Form2 connected to Dataservice2 displays the data in table.
In form1 there are Material Type,plant, and Vendor and form2 i have To (0CALMONTH)SO now i want also Form1 inputs for Table which gets teh data from Dataservice2.

So i wanted some solution for that.For that reason i have used the data store and the procedure i have followed the help.sap as i said in my above mesage.
If Data store is also suggestable than i want to display the data in Text input Field instead of Expression field which should replace the previous values as soon as values change in data store.
Hope i have tried to be clear if still it is not i am ready to explain again.

In my WD Java application I'm Using Input Field and EVS to get the data as key value pair but the moment i click on input field to select the data entire back ground screen of portal iview getting blank, only EVS popup is visible.
Same Application working fine on my test system, but it production its making portal backend screen blank.

Dropdown list on Dynpro for a disabled input field - No PAI triggered?

Hello experts,
I am facing a problem with a dropdown list on a dynpro (defined as a subscreen). The drop down list should be for a field that is not input ready (at least it should appear not being input ready).
The user should be able to pick a value from the dropdown list and as soon the selected row changes a PAI should be processed as other fields on the main dynpro as well as the subscreen itself need to change accordingly.
The dropdown list works fine but with the field not being set to input ready - neither the input field changes nor a PAI etc. is triggered.
But if the property for input is set to input ready, it works fine.
Info:
Dropdown list is populated in POV
A function code is assigned to the field
What am I missing here?
What properties must be set for the field.

How to use wild card character in input field

Hi
I'm creating model in which the Purchase Order information need to be entered in Input Field.
My requirement is search using wild char char as '*'
Let say in input field i gave PO order as 20* then it'll search for all the PO's which starts from 20.
Could you please share some documents/guidelines, for this issue

Hi,
You can use the wild card char in the input box.please try below steps.
1.Check whether the input string has ' * ' char using "CONTAINS(text,pattern)" operation.
2.If yes, Replace the ' * ' with space by "REPLACE(text,pattern,repstr)" operation.->consider this result as input2
3.Now , Have a Filter from ur webservice(which gives your Purchase Order information )
and filter it by the condition " BEGINS(WSField,input2)"
the Final expression in the filter will be "_=IF(CONTAINS(input,""),BEGINS(HelpWSField,REPLACE(input,"\","")),true)_"

How to hide input fields on selection screen using variant attribute

Hello all,
I want to know how to hide input fields on selection screen using variant attribute conpletely.
As you know, when setting the attribute of variant "Hide field" checked, the field is temporarily hidden, but when clicking "All Selections(F7)" button on the selection screen, the fileds become appeared.
I want to hide the field completely. Di you know how to do ?

Use this attribute hide field and save the variant. Then create transaction for this program setting default variant for parameter Start with variant . The user who runs it will have it by defualt set.
Otherwise
in PBO simply use LOOP at screen and output = 0 for this field. This will ensure that field is invisible in any case.

The zero will be changed to blank ,when I click the Enter key.

In fact, I can't changed my input field's data type.
When the status of my input field is display, I can display the zero on the screen. But when the input field is input status , there is blank!

We are configuring ESS, portal's record working time iview has a column "wage type(CATSD-LGART)" which is input field with search help in portal screen.We are looking for an option to change this field to drop down box. Client wants simple navigation. Please let me know if I can change this with customization.

What is the reason that the customer is wanting only dropdown and not the search help.
Can you please ask for business reason for such requirement. (Please ask only if you are in a position to)
The reason is that its too much an effort so I am keen to understand the reason.

Input field validation using JSP in HTMLB

Hi All,
How can we validate an input field in a form in BSP page.
Like: There are two input fields in my form.I want the user to enter value in any one and only one of the fields.If the value is entered in both fields or none of the fields the user should get a popup and form must not be submited.
Shall i use the onClientClick attribute of Button element or doValidate attribute of Inputfield element or validationScript attribute of From element?

Input fields of the used DC view is disabled

Hi Experts,
I am new to webdynpro and working on the support project. i have came across one unusual problem which i would require your help.
I have a DC which have one one more DC added in the "Used DC list". Now We already have embedded the View of the Used DC into our own DC.
Now the problem is the Input fields like date etc which is der on the embedded view is visible but not enabled. I checked it on the ORIGINAL VIEW of the USED DC and there the property enable is true. But when we embed into some other DC then those fields were not seems enabled.

the problem is with Node cardinality. please check the cardinality of ur node it should be 1:1. if the cardinality of ur node is 0 to n, in design time input field will be enabled but in the runtime, the input field will be disbaled mode.

Not allows to assign default value to input field using values in datastore

Hi Masters,
Consider that I have one input field in a form. I should assign default value to it. I should assign to it, the value which i have stored in a datastore. When i run the application, if i give default value as 123 ,then it is working fine i.e., it is showing 123 in the textfield in form , but if i give the default value as STORE@ProductId, then it is not displaying that value in the form.
Please help me out.

Hi,
i faced this problem and here's what i concluded:
There's no way you can set default value for input field dynamicly, since the default value of input control is caculated only once (i think on initializing of the iView). The input control and the data store are initialized at the same time, STORE@productID is empty that time...
If you don't need to recieve value through the input field you're trying to initialize, but just to display the value from the store - I suggest you try using another control - Expression Box. It's value is calculated continiously, just like the Label's, and you can refere to it later.
