Duplicate and remove MC's

I have created a flash movie using actionscript 2.0
when the movie loads, stars burst out from another movie clip
in all directions and then the alpha value is pulled down until
they are transparent and at that point they are removed,
however i need to know,
how do i detect that an instance of that clip has been
unloaded and then duplicate it to go again and again after each
time it is 'disolved'
also can a movie clip remove itself from its own enterFrame
event?

i have fixed the problem, i have deleted the a/s in the main
timeline and made the trail MC duplicate everytime the star is
dragged. thanks, could i have done it the other way?

Itunes duplicates and removes songs

Hello all!
I'm having some problems with iTunes for a while now. I'd like to use the feature that all my imported songs are automatically positioned in the iTunes folder i've specified and that iTunes then renames those files and neatly puts them in folders. This seems to work just fine.
However, although I know for sure I have not been importing new music for a while now, sudden duplicate songs keep popping up. Complete albums will duplicate itself and I keep spending time to remove those additional songs. They keep coming back!
Simoultaneously I've noticed that from some albums that are still intact on my iPod (I sync manually...) suddenly some songs seem to dissapear! For example on some albums I'd suddenly miss song 3, 6, 7, 9 and 11 out of 13.
Does anybody else notice the same problems? It doesn't seem safe to use iTunes at all to organize my music collection...

Rule 1. Backup, then if something truly goes missing you can fetch it back again.
Rule 2. Don't ignore Rule 1.
iTunes doesn't appear to do any reorganizing of tracks except when you actively edit tags or, if some third party tool has made a change, when it has cause to read the data, say during playback. If a file is removed from the drive iTunes should retain an entry to it which it will flag up with an exclamation mark if it ties to access the track. Likewise iTunes doesn't scan your drives for new tracks so duplicates should only be generated if you actively reimport the same content.

I have the same problem using Earthlink, and the same problem from both the Mac mail client and my iPhone. Removing something from an inbox never seems to delete it from Earthlink. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think it is possible to use that feature on an iPod. I do have a deduping script for use in iTunes which I might be able to modify to process tracks on a device, however I don't have anything set up in manual mode for testing right now.
FWIW having the only copy of your tracks on your iPod is not ideal. If they were all in your library you wouldn't have so much of a problem deduping and could survivie loss, theft or failure of the device.

Find and remove duplicates

Hi, I have a very large library of songs in Itunes. I also have thousands of duplicates and removing all the duplicates manually would not be possible. Itunes has a built in duplicate finder but it doesn't allow me to remove all the duplicates automatically. I'm looking for a plugin or application that can search, find and delete the duplicates. What do you guys use? So far I've found iDupe. Anyone have success with iDupe? Thanks

I've done it manually. I've used iTunes. I've used Dupin. Dupin's the best I've tried (so far), but there's no way I'd trust it to automatically remove everything it thought was a duplicate-- sometimes it's wrong.
I have a 18,000+ track library. Some of my stuff was imported when the CDDB was in its infancy. Some was imported before the CDDB existed... so I have dupes with slightly different tags here and there.
I guess it depends on your library, but I'd be careful before blindly trusting any software to delete all your duplicates-- if you do, please back up your library first-- just in case.

You should back up your drive with Time Machine before you delete any files in case you make a mistake.

Click on the Time Machine browser icon on the dock. Locate the duplicate file you wish to delete and highlight it. Click on the button with the gear on and choose Delete "all backups of".

Merge and remove duplicates

I would like to use a utility or 3rd party app to go through my two 90gb libraries of photos (iPhoto libraries) and merge them while also removing duplicates and potentially trimming it (the library was originally but in iPhoto 08 or 07, probably)

If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture. You can then use one of the many duplicate finders to sort out the problem.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries while avoiding duplicates is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager

Referencing multiple cells and removing duplicate values.

I have a very complicated question, to be honest I am not totally sure if numbers is capable of handling all of this but it's worth a shot.
I am working on a spreadsheet for organising a film. I've had the templates for years but I'm now using numbers to automate it as much as possible. Everything was going well until I hit the schedule/callsheet.
On other sheets I can tell it to "look up scene two" it will then look up the correct row and find everything I need. On the callsheet however I might say "we're filming scenes two, five and nine" and numbers gets confused with the multiple values, Is there anyway around this?
Also, if there is, I have a more complex question to ask. Is it possible for numbers to find and remove duplicate data? For example lets say scene two and five require Alice, but scene nine requires bob. If numbers just adds that info together it will display the result "Alice Alice Bob", is there a way to get it to parse the text, recognise the duplicate value and remove the unnecessary Alice?
I realise that numbers has limitations so it may not be able to do everything I want, however every bit I can automate saves me hours so even if I can only get half way there, totally worth it.

I've modified it to there are now multiple (well only four for now until I get this in better shape) indexes for finding a scene. And assigning each block to a new row.
I only have one slight reservation about this. If I create 10 rows, it totally works, most of the time we'll only shoot three scenes a day so it's just blank space... However Murphy's law will inevitable raise its ugly head and put me in a situation where we are shooting 11 scenes in a day.
For countif, I think I get what you mean... Kinda. Basicially I would create a cell which combines the character strings from each scene into one long scene. Then I would have 100 extra cells (Lets say 100 so I'll never run out) each linked to the cast list, using the character name as a variable. These cells will each parse through the string to find their character name. If it appears then a true value comes up. This will remove duplicates as each cell will only respond once. So if Alice appears in every scene shooting that day, the cell will still only light up once. Is that it.
One other question. Whenever I combine filled cells with blank cells. I usually gets the data from the filled cells, with a 0 for each blank cell. Usually this isn't a problem, but if I want to keep this flexible then I'll have quite a few blanks. The actor example above could result in 98 zeroes. Is there anyway to have blanks just not show up at all.
I'll email the spreadsheet in a moment, a lot of it is still rough and under construction, but you should be able to see where it's all going hopefully.

The logic will be sometinh like that:
1) List all grupos with similar naming scheme
2) List all mail addresses of people that are members of the group
3) Remove duplicated information, because one user can be member of more than one group
4) Optionally send mail to the users

I now have iTunes ver 11.0.4.4 under Windows 7. I lost all iTunes stuff when updating to Windows 7. I have loaded thousands amd thousands of music files from backup disks, but there are many duplicates. I am attemping to re-establish my old library. I used to be able to remove duplicates quickly with the old iTunes. The new iTunes doesn't seem to offer the same service. Is there any way to remove duplicates quickly, or must I do it one by one?

When deduping use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
