DUPLICATE DATABASE giving problems
I donot know what I am doing wrong, can anybody please assist me with duplicating target database to my auxiliary database?
@9:00 pm - Full Backup and Database is in Archivelog mode.
next day around 11am I tried to close my auxiliary database. I copied all the backup files from last night full backup plus the 10 archive log files which I needed.
when I issue SET UNTIL LOG SEQUENCE = 5546 because this is where I want to stop.
RMAN ask me the full backup file from "a day before yesterday's backup"
for example today is tuesday and at 11am I am cloning my database by using monday's full backup plus the archive logs generated since then. why do I need backup file from Sunday?
any clue?
Thanks for any suggestion!

SHARED MEMORY AND DATABASE MEMORY giving problem.
Hello Friends,
I am facing problem with EXPORT MEMORY and IMPORT MEMORY.
I have developed one program which will EXPORT the internal table and some variables to the memory. This program will call another program via background job. IMPORT memory used in another program to get the first program data.
This IMPORT command is working perfect in foreground. But it is not working in background.
So, I have reviewed couple of forums and I tried both SHARED MEMORY AND DATABASE MEMORY. But no use. Still background is giving problem.
When I remove VIA JOB parameter in the SUBMIT statement it is working. But i need to execute this program in background via background job. Please help me . what should I do?
pls find the below code of mine.
option1
EXPORT TAB = ITAB
TO DATABASE indx(Z1)
FROM w_indx
CLIENT sy-mandt
ID 'XYZ'.
option2
EXPORT ITAB FROM ITAB
TO SHARED MEMORY indx(Z1)
FROM w_indx
CLIENT sy-mandt
ID 'XYZ'.
SUBMIT ZPROG2 TO SAP-SPOOL
SPOOL PARAMETERS print_parameters
WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO
*_VIA JOB name NUMBER number*_
AND RETURN.
===
Hope every bidy understood the problem.
my sincere request is ... pls post only relavent answer. do not post dummy answer for points.
Thanks
RaghuHi.
You can not exchange data between your programs using ABAP memory, because this memory is shared between objects within the same internal session.
When you call your report using VIA JOB, a new session is created.
Instead of using EXPORT and IMPORT to memory, put both programs into the same Function Group, and use global data objects of the _TOP include to exchange data.
Another option, is to use SPA/GPA parameters (SET PARAMETER ID / GET PARAMETER ID), because SAP memory it is available between all open sessions. Of course, it depends on wich type of data you want to export.
Hope it was helpful,
Kind regards.

Problems creating control file in RMAN duplicate database
There is so much detail involved in this operation that I don't know what might be useful, so I'll start simple. I'm attempting to clone a database on the same host using RMAN "duplicate database". I finally got all the setup done, the OS authentication hurdles hurdled, etc. and entered the command:
duplicate target database to COPYCH2M until time "to_date('March 15 2012 12:00:00', 'Mon DD YYYY HH24:MI:SS')";
The first time I got:
ORA-19504: failed to create file "/u01/app/oracle/oradata/COPYCH2M/control01.ctl"
ORA-27040: file create error, unable to create file
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
There was nothing in the Oracle instructions about manually creating the directory, but I did so, thinking that might be the problem. And it created the control files! But then I got the following:
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of Duplicate Db command at 05/21/2012 15:59:25

RMAN-06136: ORACLE error from auxiliary database: ORA-00201: control file version 11.2.0.0.0 incompatible with ORACLE version 11.1.0.1.0
ORA-00202: control file: '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/COPYCH2M/control01.ctl'
Sounds straightforward, if frustrating, right? Apparently you can't duplicate a database that's not in the exact same version. But:
1) The backuppiece we got the control file from was from last November.
2) The version of Oracle has not been updated since that time.
How can a file created by this version be incompatible with this version? Where is it even getting 11.1?
Thanks, I'm hoping this is easy but I can post more info if needed.>
There was nothing in the Oracle instructions about manually creating the directory, but I did so, thinking that might be the problem. And it created the control files! But then I got the following:
>
The database is limited as to what it can create. Since you defined where you wanted the controlfiles to go (pfile/spfile), it's up to you to make sure the directory is valid and exists. :)
>
How can a file created by this version be incompatible with this version? Where is it even getting 11.1?
>
As for your controlfiles, make sure the compatible parameter is set the same on both the source and the target unless you are using the default (11.1.0.1 for you, and you aren't)
Keep going, you'll get there. RMAN duplicate is a great feature.
Good luck. -
Problems with DUPLICATE DATABASE when datafile was added after full backup
Hi,
I'm facing a problem when performing database duplication with the RMAN duplicate database command on a 10g database. If I preform the duplication from a full backup that is missing a datafile which was added to the database after the full backup, I get the following error message:

RMAN-06100: no channel to restore a backup or copy of datafile 43The redo log which was CURRENTat the time of the datafile's 43 creation is also available in the backups. It seems like RMAN can't use the information from the archived redo logs to reconstruct the contents of datafile 43. I suppose that because the failure is reported already in the RESTORE and not in the RECOVER phase, so the archived redo logs aren't even accessed yet. I get the same message even if I make a separate backup of datafile 43 (so a backup that is not in the same backupset as the backup of all other datafiles).
From the script the duplicate command produces, I guess that RMAN reads the contents of the source database's controlfile and tries to get a backup which contains all the datafiles to restore them on the auxiliary database - if such a backup is not found, it fails.
Of course if I try to perform a restore/recover of the source database it works without problems:
RMAN> restore database;
Starting restore at 13.10.09
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=156 devtype=DISK

channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying datafile(s) to restore from backup set
restoring datafile 00001 to F:\ORA10\ORADATA\SOVDEV\SYSTEM01.DBF
.....The datafile 43 is recreated and then redo is applied over.
So, does anyone know if duplicate database can't use archived redo logs to recreate the contents of a datafile as a normal restore/recover does? If it's so, then it means it's necessary to perform a full database backup before every run of duplicate database if a datafile was added after such a backup.
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Regards,
JureHi Jure,
I have hit exactly the same problem during duplication.
Because we backup the archive logs every 6 hours with rman I added an extra run block to this script.
run
backup incremental level 0
format 'bk_%d_%s_%p_%t'
filesperset 4
database not backed up;
(I also than hit a bug in the catalog which was solved by patching up the catalog dbs from 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7.)
This will narrow down the datafile not being part of any rman backup to 6 hours while skipping datafiles for which a backup already exists.

Hi there,
I am practicing duplicate database from one single database server to another server. Hardware and driver path on 2 machines is the same. Here are my steps:
--------------------- Clone site:
1. modify listener.ora with content:

Rman clone duplicate database from active database
Hi All,
I read document saying that rman can duplicate database from active database (prod) to a remote server, so long as you configure listener and tnsname.
I am working toward it.
I met a problem, which is when i bring up auxiliary database in nomount mode, the listener service of that auxiliary database is in BLOCKED status, and throw out ora-12528 error when I rman auxiliary sys/pass@clonedb. Isn't nomount mode the mode which auxiliary db is supposed to be in?
(ora-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections)
Thanks,
milicYou may have run into the same problem like I did recently:
The (UR=A) clause in tnsnames.ora is intended to work with a dynamically registered handler so the use of SERVICE_NAME versus SID is preferred.

hello friends,
my requirement is that, i am running some
sites with oracle database. but , at same time i want to configure a mirror database on
different host. suppose in case primary
database fails then we can up the mirrored database. my objective is site should not go
to downtime even for a single second. and
when primary database will be up then whatever transaction was made to mirror database that should be transfered to primary
server.
so, in my problem , till what extent this
duplicate database of recovery manager will
be helpful to me. if any other third party
software is available for my requirement
then please let me know.
thanx,
nullI don't think it is possible.
If you need this level of availability,
look at something different from Oracle,
for example, Tandem systems (from Compaq)
and their nonStop SQL database. However, a Tandem system costs roughly 10 times more
than a similar Oracle system.
If you need to use Oracle, look at hardware-level solution rather tan software-level solution. For example, EMC has SRDF technology - hardware-level mirroring
of your hard disk. Software-level solution
for high availability include Parallel server
(requires clustering software and external disk array) and standby database.
In my experience, achieving high availability is a matter of having enough finds for the project - you need a second
(third, fourth) system for development/testing/UAT, mirror all disks, etc.
RMAN has nothing to do with high availability -
it is just a tool for backing up databases.

Sev

I am working on Oracle 10.2 running on rhel 4.I am trying to create duplicate database on the same host as on target. My target database is in archive log mode. When i am trying to fire the above command I get following error. Here are the steps..

Duplicate database: ORA-01130 - SOLVED
Hello,
I have problem with creating a duplicate database.
I have 10.2 database running on Linux. It was patched to 10.2.0.2.0.
Then I create database 'orcl' and and auxiliary instance 'aux'.
I'm trying to duplicate orcl to aux, but I get the following error:
ORA-01130: database file version 10.2.0.2.0 incompatible with ORACLE version 10.2.0.0.0.
The compatibile parameter in orcl is set to 10.2.0.2.0, and I though that after applying the patch it will be ok, but it seem to be not.
Can anybody help me?
Aliq.

NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.2.0 - Production
aux has no compatible parameter.

The problem solved:
I need to set compatible parameter in aux to 10.2.0.2.0 (the same is in orcl).
I got another error, BTW, I think it's connected with my patch. Everything was ok until creating controlfile and opening aux database with resetlog. I got internal memory errors and duplicating stopped. So I connected to aux via sqlplus as sysdba, execute 'startup upgrade' and catupgrd.sql after it. Now it seems to be working..
I'm writing this all, because maybe in some time someone else will have similar problem and I hope this may be useful.

Hi every body ..plz help me on this..
We are facing database termination problem in ECC6 production syste.
Database: Oracle 10.2, O/S: Windows 2003. Spam :27, SP level 13.
Error is:
Errors in file f:\oracle\p02\saptrace\background\p02_ckpt_6520.trc:
ORA-00206: error in writing (block 3, # blocks 1) of control file
ORA-00202: control file: 'D:\ORACLE\P02\ORIGLOGB\CNTRL\CNTRLP02.DBF'
ORA-27072: File I/O error
OSD-04008: WriteFile() failure, unable to write to file
O/S-Error: (OS 33) The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.
When we are performing backup then data base termination occuring freequently.
Give right solution as early as possible.
Thanks,
Nani.Hi,
Have a look at below snote which actually speaks about the oracle error codes
Snote : 546006
within the Snote it says :-
" If you cannot access a database file (for instance a data file, control file or RedoLog) for whatever reason, an ORA-270xx appears. The actual cause comes from additional error messages (usually in the operating system) that occur on ORA-270xx. "
And as per your last update
" ORA-00206: error in writing (block 3, # blocks 1) of control file
ORA-00202: control file: 'D:\ORACLE\P02\ORIGLOGB\CNTRL\CNTRLP02.DBF' "
i think there is problem accessing the database control file. Hence you are facing the above problem.
I think if you recreate your control file i think, it should resolve the problem.
Hope it will be helpful to resolve your problem.
