I'm using Jdev 11.1.1.3
-I have a composite PK comprising of 3 fields - Jobcode,paycode,startdate on the same EO - these have primary property checked
-row gets inserted the first time
-when the same row is saved(testing validations) I somehow dont get the proper error message in my validations. I get the below line when a duplicate is entered.
[oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26041: Failed to post data to database during "Rollback to Savepoint": SQL Statement "null".]
any answers. searched the forums and looks like there are various posts but not the Duplicate issue which I'm facing.
also:
I'm using entity level validation methods with deffered option selected.

1. job,paycode,startdate and enddate have TxnEO validation (enddate can be blank, but if its entered it should be before the startdate + it has to be in future)
2. 2 OTHER fields that are not mandatory but cannot be blank are done as 1 Entity level validation
3. so 2 happens before 1, and all this works fine as it should
4. there is also validation at the package API layer(db level) and on an insert, checks for row duplication based on the keys in 1(except enddate)
5. both 1,2 have error messages are ADF error messages based on a reosurce bundle
6. 4 hasa message that is sent back from the api layer that gets returned as null with the said message

If the value I'm trying to insert (using update)
already exists in the unique-value field then the DB
refuses to update the field.
If the value is different it will update.Are you trying to insert or update in SQL (identified by the keyword INSERT or UPDATE respectively)?
Even in case of an UPDATE query, if you are going to update the values of some columns to violate the unique constraints, the update will not succeed and you will get the error message.

If this is the case, I am only trying to update and
not create a new item.To put it in simpler words, if you have a set of values defining the uniqueness of a record, you cannot insert another record with the same set of unique values. Similarly, you cannot update an existing record by modifying the set to conflict with another set of unique values which already exist in the database.
Suppose there are two columns A and B defining the uniqueness of the record and you have only two records at the moment like -
A B
========
1 1
2 1
If you try to insert a record with A = 1 and B = 1, it will fail because a record already exists. You cannot violate uniqueness because the database has already been told that there will be only one record for any given combination of A and B.
Similarly, if you try to update the second record from A = 2 to A = 1, the end result would be A =1 and B = 1. There is already a record with that set of values and this will result in a violation of the uniqueness. So, this update will also be disallowed. On the other hand, if you try to update B to some value, say 3, there is no problem in doing so.
For convenience, you can imagine an UPDATE operation to be equivalent to DELETE + INSERT operation, though it doesn't necessarily work the same way internally.

How to open files with "return" key and delete files with "delete" key?

Hi friends,
It's been over a week since I got my iMac and I'm loving it. However, while I'm adapting alright to 'mac' key shortcuts (e.g. using the COMMAND-S for save as opposed to CONTROL-S used in PC).
However, there are 2 things that are annoying me greatly right now.
1. I like selecting files with keys as opposed to using the mouse. I make animations and prefer keyboard shortcuts. However, when I hit "return", instead of opening the file it goes into file-renaming mode. How do I change this? Likewise, I would like to delete files by hitting the delete key. This does not work - how do I change this?
2. When I click SHIFT key sometimes, it gets 'stuck' - which is annoying because I start typing CAPITALS when I wasn't aware I've activated the CAP-LOCK key. How do I get rid of this? Like, I don't want to hit SHIFT for instance, and have that up arrow thing 'stuck' there.

I have to say that I can't reproduce your problem, does this happen just in applications or in everything? I don't know if it's to do with this but pressing Shift 5 times turns on Sticky Keys & Option(Alt) 5 times to turn on Mouse Keys (System Preferences>Universal Access>Keyboard).
After typing "Sticky Keys" into Mac Help, I found this:
"Pressing a group of modifier keys as a sequence
To perform many tasks on your computer, you need to press one or more modifier keys (Shift, Command, Option, and Control) at the same time as another key. For example, pressing Shift-Command-Q in the Finder opens the Logout dialog.
If you have difficulty pressing several keys at once, you can make it easier to press a set of keys by turning on Sticky Keys in the Universal Access preferences pane. With Sticky Keys turned on, you can press a set of modifier keys as a sequence. As you press each key, the symbol for the modifier key appears on the screen.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Universal Access. Then click Keyboard.
Select the On button next to Sticky Keys.
To hear a sound whenever the computer registers that you have pressed a modifier key, select "Beep when a modifier key is set."
To see an icon indicating which modifier keys you have pressed, select "Display pressed keys on screen."

Text is running together on some pages and not others. i've tried no squint and playing around with text options in tools. I can't strike a good balance.

I can't seem to figure out how to have a full screen experience with larger text and everything is in proportion. Either the right end of lines are chopped off, or lines of text are running into each other and out of boundaries.

== I installed FF earlier this evening. I've had FF before and my gripe was the inability to set a certain magnification. I found the no squint add on and it seems very good, but somewhere I'm getting stuck. I've been fiddling with no squint, font options in tools and size and resolution settings for my monitor.

i'm also having major CPU problems w/ FF 29.0.1. when i restart the app it calms down again but after loading tabs it steadily climbs up to 100% after not too long. i have checked out the 2 CPU links/articles above and do all the basic troubleshooting and tips, but with all the FF tools & add-ons isn't there some sort of CPU monitor that has the ability to display which extensions/scripts are hogging the CPU? Activity Monitor on Mac just shows the total used by the app. it's impossible in my case to efficiently disable dozens of add-ons & scripts, restart, and test each one by one b/c it can take several hrs before the CPU starts to spike high again. i have no time for this.

Key and text replaced with "???" in variable selection after SPS Upgrade

I have a problem regarding the variable screen.
We recently upgraded to SAPKW70021 and SP19 in Java. After this a problem appeared in web reporting and variable selection. When users are prompted to enter a value for fiscal year for example, the input help displays "???" instead of years. When you choose an "???" randomly from the list and add to your selection, the year is displayed correctly. The same issue is present with company code selection and other user input variables as well, the selection list is filled with "???" for both key and text.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Note 1368055 describes this issue. You need to implement the mentioned java patch for the BI components and set the parameter mentioned in the note to solve this issue.

Keyboard problems, not working keys and different connection with letters

PLEASE HELP ME, The background is this: Yesterday I have done for the first time the time machine with my external hardisk, and I try to delete also all remains documents of windows from virtual machine Parallel (I delete it after trial version and I still have windows data in the mac).
(I dont know if is connected to the problem)
After this, this morning the keyboard start to work bad, some keys don't work, like ENTER or P or Volume Buttons, but the strange thing is that some other work differently, like pushing the left arrow it type "à".
I try to change Mac, in order to understand if is a software problem, but nothing, it didnt work also on different computer.
It's not a keyboard lenguage problem as you can think, I changed, lenguage, and nothing, in fact this does not explain why some keys dont work,
In the keyboard visor, I can see which key works and which not, and some like, down arrow, is perennially insert, and furthermore, up volume work as backspace.
So, a series of strange problems.
-keys that dont work
-wrong connection (key-letters)
-and keys always "ON"
I'm sure that no liquid went on the keyboard, and the keyboard is new, (less than 6 month, bought at Apple store)

Ok, I try again, and I followed perfectly the process, the "UTILITY DISC PAGE" was due to the fact that the "P" button doesnt work, therefore, it get just option+cmd+R
Oh, really this is very strange. I try this keyboard on an other mac and it didnt work (it fail the configuration process because the "ENTER KEY" doesnt work)
I try also a USB keyboard on my mac and it was all OK.
So, it seems to be a software problem of my bt keyboard, there isnt a way to reset? I'm worry about match again the bt because it will ask me to type numbers and then ENTER and if the keyboard will not be fixed, Im without keyboard... now I can use it and when I need some key that dont work, I use the virtual keyboard.
Guys, what do you suggest to do? The keyboard is in warranty but the bill is in Italy, now I'm in UK, the apple store could replace it without the bill?

TextField validation with multiple options

I am trying to create a textField widget that can have a
number of possible correct answers. Can anyone let me know if this
is possible. I have successfully created a textField that validates
one answer with the use of Type Custom, but i am unsure how to have
multiple correct answers for one textField.

Hi Barry,
to validate more values inside the textfield widget, you have
to create your custom regular expression that fits with what values
you accept for that input field.
So your contructor should look similar with this:

This regexp is translated: the textfiled will accept only
test1, test2, test3 values.
You can also have this behavior if you create a custom

Close ALL open files and save jpg with jpg option

Hi,
I have some (a lot) of -jpg images to crop, and resize, while I have to do this one by one based on what portion of the image to crop, once done I need to close, and save them.
To speed up the process I open several files, and do the crop&resize, and when finished I use "close all", and would like to avoid to confirm the "save" dialogue, and the "jpeg options" "image quality option" dialogue, having to say save, and the option set to a given value.
Unfortunatelly I am not a coder, and didn't understand anything from the Javascript Scripting Reference guide.

I am having ipad 3.whenever i sync ipad with my pc the computer stucks during the sync and leaves me with the option of turning off my pc and restarting it.I am using windows xp.

This problem started to occur from day 1 but since then i rarely use itunes.But now i want to upgrade to ios 7 when its available via itunes.

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

Okay, so I signed up for Hulu Plus and my new (single) account is working on both my iPad and the PS3. Also, the component output on the PS3 seems to work fine with the Hulu content. However, the Hulu streaming performance on the PS3 seems a little rocky. On my first and second attempts to watch something the video would play for a few seconds and then pause for several more seconds, it was basically unwatchable.
The content on my iPad seemed okay, so it looks like a problem on the PS3. Also, Netflix on the PS3 was fine and I even watched the same episode of a TV show that stuttered badly on the PS3. After watching the entire show on Netflix I went back to Hulu and the PS3 was still having problems. Then, after about another 10 minutes of playback hickups the PS3 seemed to get better. Maybe Sony's version of Hulu Plus (or someone's server) is getting overloaded right now since Hulu on the PS3 just went mainstream today.

Product Key and Phone-in Windows Validation

Hello I have installed Win10 Eval on two different computers,
the other day the first one decided to update itself to the latest version.
Upon completion, it started to ask for Windows Validation, so I did a search
to get the appropriate key and entered it with success using the "slui 3" command.
So I decided to try the "slui 4" command and got the expected dial 800 # to automated phone support.
I called in and entered all the digits from all the boxes, and started to enter the valid codes in their A-G boxes,
except that there is supposed to be an H box, and there was none. I did this twice.
Even got the live person elevated phone support, they then transferred me to something called option 4 I think,
but the phone dialer didn't transfer the call properly, and the call was dropped.
Basically this is just to let you know that Box H was missing, but the dropped support call could be an issue as well.
I love the way the latest build installs straight from the disk, clean.
I also think that it comes off as very intuitive even as its installing, no more boring status bars, praying for it to reach the other side!!

That is the way it should be. By default, it is supposed to activate automatically. Only in rare circumstance one would be asked to enter the product key.

FB4 Eclipse plugin referencing to trial key and not to valid license key

After uninstalling trial version, I installed Flash Builder 4 Standalone version with new serial key and that works fine, but after that I installed Flash Builder 4 Eclipse plugin and that didnt work. I checked the asm3.log file and it had message "SLCoreService: Query license: type = 1, duration = 60 days, remaining = expired.".

The same license key will work for both FB4 Standalone and FB4 Plug-in.
In order to get out of trial mode for FB4 Plug-in, launch the bundled copy of eclipse, and switch to the Flash perspective. This should trigger the Activation dialog, where you can enter your SN.

Duplicate Groups and how to get rid of them

Somehow (maybe by having sync from iTunes and from MobileMe I have duplicate groups of calendars and contacs. With the same information in each group, I can't get rid of one set or the other. How can I do that and which one should I get rid of (if there's a choice)?

If you are syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, if you also sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, this does nothing but duplicate your contacts and calendar events on your iPhone.
Prior to firmware update 3.0, it wasn't possible to sync contacts and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account and/or with an Exchange account and sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. Apple included the ability to do both primarily for those syncing business contacts and calendar events over the air with an Exchange account who also wanted to sync personal contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on a personal computer at home via the iTunes sync process. When doing so, you can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately. When doing this with a MobileMe account, this does nothing but duplicate the contacts and calendar events on your iPhone.
To get rid of the duplicates, deselect sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by selecting Apply.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Contacts and Calendars off for over the air syncing.
A warning message will be provided indicating this will erase all contacts and calendar events downloaded from and kept synchronized with your MobileMe online address book and calendar along with an option to store this data locally on your iPhone. Decline the prompt to store this data locally on your iPhone.
This will not erase the contacts and calendar events on your iPhone that were synced direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.
Follow this by turning Contacts and Calendars back on for over the air syncing. You will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This will get rid of the duplicates on your iPhone.
