Duplicate notifications for emails

I set up gmail when I started using my Droid phone.  I had problems with my last phone and was given the Droid Razr.  Whenever I receive an email, I get the notification twice.  It appears in two places on my phone.  One is under the g for my gmail account.  The other is in what looks like a stamp with @ in the middle of it.  How do I get rid of one of these without losing my account?
I tried following the directions on My Verizon, but the only option I get when I press the menu key is "sync now".

Sounds like your issue you setup the account in two separate apps... Remove the account from the email application because the gMail application is a separate application and you do not need to applications monitoring the same account.

  • I keep getting notifications for emails that disappear

I have been regularly getting notifications for emails that disappear. After a purchase, maybe, I'll see a brief notification pop-up in the upper right part of my screen announcing an expected email has arrived. I go to Apple Mail and it's not there. Now I go back to the notifications icon at the upper right and the notification that just popped up is nowhere to be found.
    This is driving me crazy.
I've rebuilt my Mail indexes, I've quit and restarted, and I've tried various search methods. Nothing finds the missing emails. Yes, I'm looking in trash and junk. Yes, I've tried to use Spotlight.
What the heck is going on?

  • Can you turn off notification for emails

How can you turn off notification for email but leave it on for text?

Suds57  Thanks for posting, made me look a little deeper because I kept looking in general settings not specific app settings.  Appreciate both of the responses to this!

  • Duplicate notifications for encrypted messages

    Hi all,
We're using our C150 to quarantine emails that arrive with some form of encryption (e.g. a password-protected .zip).  When a matching email first arrives, it's correctly quarantined and sends an "Encrypted message detected" notification to the relevant recipient, as expected.  However, after releasing the email to the recipient, another "Encrypted message detected" notification is sent related to the same email, even though the recipient receives the released version too.  It's causing some people a bit of confusion to get this second notification at the same time they get the email it's complaining about.
We have the following setup under Mail Policies:Anti-Virus -> Anti-Virus Settings -> Encrypted Messages:
Action applied to message = Quarantine
    Archive original message = No
Modify message subject = Prepend the text "[WARNING :  MESSAGE ENCRYPTED]"  (Interestingly, the first notification generated doesn't include this prepended text as part of the subject, but the second one does; not sure if this is a clue to what's happening)
    Under Advanced:
Add custom header to message = No
    Container notification = System Generated
Other Notification = Recipient + Others (admins)
    Modify message recipient = No
Send message to alternate destination host = No
If anyone can shed some light on why this is happening or if you've seen it before, please let me know.
    Kind regards,
    Dan

    Hi Steven,
Thanks for the tip.  I've traced the logs as suggested, and they really only seem to confirm the symptoms.  There's the initial message getting quarantined based on the encrypted content, followed by two notifications sent out (one to the affected user, and one to an admin email address.)  Then, after release, there are two more notification messages generated based on the original message, and delivery of the released message.  They all seem to relate back to the original message; in brief:
    Initial arrival:
Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 matched all recipients for per-recipient policy DEFAULT in the inbound table
Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 interim verdict using engine: CASE spam negative

    Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 quarantined to "Virus" (a/v verdict:ENCRYPTED)
    After release:
Fri Mar 26 11:00:26 2010 Info: MID 3222471 was generated based on MID 3222427 by antivirus ## Duplicate notification to user
Fri Mar 26 11:00:26 2010 Info: MID 3222472 was generated based on MID 3222427 by antivirus ## Duplicate notification to admin
Fri Mar 26 11:00:29 2010 Info: Message finished MID 3222471 done
Fri Mar 26 11:00:30 2010 Info: Message finished MID 3222427 done ## Original mail that is being released
Fri Mar 26 11:00:30 2010 Info: Message finished MID 3222472 done
Nothing I've omitted to save space seems to indicate anything other than regular delivery behaviour.
    cheers,

  • Droid Mini notifications for email and text not working

I am having a problem with notification sounds not working for email and text messages with my Droid Mini. I took my original phone to the Verizon shop. They did a factory reset. Sound worked for two days. Went back to Verizon and they reset it again. But they did tell me if it happened again to call Verizon and they would send me a new phone. Well it happened again. Got my new phone just last week. Well yesterday and today the sound notifications for text messages and email is not working on the new phone.  Last night I powered the phone off and back on and all was working well until this morning.
This is very upsetting as I really do like this phone. Would like to know what is going on with it. Have checked all the volumes and they are all up.
Is there a fix for this.
    Thank you.

For Gmail it is: open Gmail > menu > settings > your gmail address > notifications check box is unchecked.
There are some additional notification options for labels too.

  • Can't get sound notification for emails

Hi. I've set up several email accounts in my Motorola Razr phone, and I've selected the check box for 'Email notifications' and selected a tone to use for each, but I can't receive a notification when I get an email. I send a test message from my computer and when I check the phone, the email is there but I know only because I checked it, not because I got a tone. Also, I've tried the 'Mailbox check frequency' on 'Push' and then I tried '5 minutes' to see if that made any difference, but no change, still no tone to let me know I've received an email.

The phone rings when someone calls and you're receiving text notification sounds?  In other words, is it just the e-mail app that isn't alerting you?

  • Notification for emails only in priority hub

    Dear users,
Currently, my device Z10STL100-2/10.2.2.1531 notifies me on each arrived email (displayed on the lock screen and blinking). I'd like to receive notification only for emails in the Priority Hub. Or set a filter on certain emails / senders to be ignored and do not fire any notification. How can I set it, please? I don't care about other notifications (LI, FB,...).
    Cheers,

The only change you can make is, go to:   Settings, Notifications, swipe up on the screen to reveal Contacts, tap Contacts, tap Customize for Contact, tap the contact, tap Email Messages, turn Off the Alerts you wish.

  • E71: audio notifications for email using Mail for ...

I can't get audio (or, for that matter vibrate) notifications for incoming email messages in my Mail for Exchange (MFE) account.
My phone is a Nokia E71-2 and I recently upgraded to firmware version 200.21.118 to see if that would cure the problem, but it did not.  I've checked the Profile settings and made sure that email notifications are turned on, but audio notifications still dont work.  For a while, I used Yahoo mail and the notifications seemed to work just fine for my Yahoo account. Unfortunately, I'm much more interested in using my MFE email account.  I thought that perhaps the settings only applied to my Yahoo account so I have deleted it from the phone.  The only active email account on my phone today is the MFE account - but still no audio notifications.
Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.

I am not sure if this will work for you guys since I am in the US, but I think I figured out the issue. You need to change the settings for the home screen to alert you when messages arrive in the Mail for Exchange section.
    To do this:
Menu > Settings > General > Personalization > Home Screen > (Make sure Home Screen is ACTIVE) Mode Settings > Home Screen Applications > E-mail 1 Notification > Select Mail for Exchange
    That should work.

  • Does any know how do set custom notification for email.

I have down loaded a coulple tones for ring tones and email notifications, but know matter where I put them they don't show up in my list of tones.

Ringtones/mp3s should be placed in your Ringtones, Notifications, or Alarms folders, depending on how you want to use them.

  • Push notifications for email

So push notifications happened on the iphone years ago, but I have never yet been able to get emails to be pushed to me. I have thought about this for years, but about time I got onto it. So how can I get my email pushed? I currently use a Gmail account - is it true that Gmail doesn't support push email on the iphone? Do I have to set it up differently? Does iCloud support push? Please do help me figure this out. At the moment it is so bad - I get my VIP email notifications like 2 days after they were actually received, how pointless.

iCloud, Yahoo, Hotmail premium, and Google premium support Push. So does a MS Exchange account. Free hotmail and Google do not anymore (Google used to through MS Exchange).
