Duplicate notifications for encrypted messages

Hi all,
We're using our C150 to quarantine emails that arrive with some form of encryption (e.g. a password-protected .zip).  When a matching email first arrives, it's correctly quarantined and sends an "Encrypted message detected" notification to the relevant recipient, as expected.  However, after releasing the email to the recipient, another "Encrypted message detected" notification is sent related to the same email, even though the recipient receives the released version too.  It's causing some people a bit of confusion to get this second notification at the same time they get the email it's complaining about.
We have the following setup under Mail Policies:Anti-Virus -> Anti-Virus Settings -> Encrypted Messages:
Action applied to message = Quarantine
Archive original message = No
Modify message subject = Prepend the text "[WARNING :  MESSAGE ENCRYPTED]"  (Interestingly, the first notification generated doesn't include this prepended text as part of the subject, but the second one does; not sure if this is a clue to what's happening)
Under Advanced:
Add custom header to message = No
Container notification = System Generated
Other Notification = Recipient + Others (admins)
Modify message recipient = No
Send message to alternate destination host = No
If anyone can shed some light on why this is happening or if you've seen it before, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Dan

Hi Steven,
Thanks for the tip.  I've traced the logs as suggested, and they really only seem to confirm the symptoms.  There's the initial message getting quarantined based on the encrypted content, followed by two notifications sent out (one to the affected user, and one to an admin email address.)  Then, after release, there are two more notification messages generated based on the original message, and delivery of the released message.  They all seem to relate back to the original message; in brief:
Initial arrival:
Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 matched all recipients for per-recipient policy DEFAULT in the inbound table
Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 interim verdict using engine: CASE spam negative

Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 antivirus encrypted

Fri Mar 26 10:55:59 2010 Info: MID 3222427 quarantined to "Virus" (a/v verdict:ENCRYPTED)
After release:
Fri Mar 26 11:00:26 2010 Info: MID 3222471 was generated based on MID 3222427 by antivirus ## Duplicate notification to user
Fri Mar 26 11:00:26 2010 Info: MID 3222472 was generated based on MID 3222427 by antivirus ## Duplicate notification to admin
Fri Mar 26 11:00:29 2010 Info: Message finished MID 3222471 done
Fri Mar 26 11:00:30 2010 Info: Message finished MID 3222427 done ## Original mail that is being released
Fri Mar 26 11:00:30 2010 Info: Message finished MID 3222472 done
Nothing I've omitted to save space seems to indicate anything other than regular delivery behaviour.

        Hmmm that's strange TopDiver. Let's get to the bottom of this. Have you checked the notification settings on the device? To verify the notification setting on the device click on menu>settings>sound>notification sound, then test device notifications.

  • JMS sender adapter issue for encrypted message

    Hello Folks,
    We have JMS to AS2 interface facing issues when JMS sender channel read the encrypted files placed in MQ queue, messages size is
    increasing to almost double when it reaches PI.
    When sending an encrypted message from MQ to AS2, message is showing in success flag but inbound file size is increasing almost double the size, when compared to message size placed in the MQ Queue. When partner is decrypting the message he is getting total garbage values. But it working fine for unencrypted messages,we are getting the same size as it is in MQ queue.
    Can you please trrough some light on the issue not getting excatly issue is in MQ or JMS sender adapter.
    Kind Regards
    Praveen Reddy

    Hi Praveen,
    the issue seems to be with your encryption/decryption mechanism rather then JMS adapter. if you have encrypted file in JMS queue then channel only pick the file and sent to target (i am assuming there is no tranformation). So it will not alter the file size.
    Please check how the file is encrypted before it places in JMS queue.
    regards,

  • Need notification for successful messages in email

    Hi experts,
    Is it possible to send email notification for all the successful messages with a link to message content.
    I am working on PI 7.1 and the scenarios are Idoc,RFC,Proxy  to SOAP (WS)  and vice versa.
    How can I achieve this?
    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
    you can try with link to messagingsystem like this:

  • Mail sending new message notifications for Old Messages

    Hi,
    Since upgrading to Mavericks I've been having a ton of problems with the Mail App.
    I'm running on a Macbook Pro (13-inch Early 2011 Model) with 4gb of RAM and OS at version 10.9
    I have Mail connected to two different accounts 1 Gmail and one Exchange. The recently released "Mail Update" has not fixed these issues.
    The primary issue is that every time I have Mail open it constantly pops up notification badges to say that I have new messages. In fact it is sending these notifications for messages that are in most cases months old. Moreover even after confirming these the next day it will repeat this for the same exact messages. I've attempted to rebuild the index by deleting the Envelope files in the Library as suggested in another discussion topic. This didn't correct the problem. The result of this beyond the annoyance of having the notifications constantly popping us is it also seem to make my system grind to a halt - while it is parsing these sometime 100's - of notifications.
    I believe related to this (but not clear) is that in many cases delivery of messages to my exchange account is very very delayed. I will receive a message on my iPhone Mail app sometimes hours before it syncs into my Laptops Mail app (even with attempts at Manually checking mail.)
    Anyone have any suggestions on how to repair this issue?
    Thanks a ton,
    Mark

    Try this:
    Go into Preferences -> General and uncheck the box that says "Play sounds for other mail actions".
    I'm not sure if it will work since that's really still "new" mail, but it might be worth trying.

  • IMessages notification for every message I received while away.. annoying.

    Whenever I turn on my computer after being away for awhile, Messages likes to update/sync the iMessages I received while away. This is all well and good, except I get a notification for almost every single message while it syncs, thus resulting in about 20 little "Blips" and notification updates. Is there a way to set it up so I only get ONE notification when coming back and it syncs?
    ie. "You have 56 new iMessages" vs "You have 2 new iMessages... you have 5 new iMessages... you have 8 new iMessages"

    Hi,
    You could put the computer to Sleep when you were about to leave.
    Then when you Wake it you would get  the "you have 56 new Messages"

  • Notifications for deleted messages showing up on Mac?

    Whenever I finish a conversation on my iPad and delete it, I keep getting notifications for them on my Mac! Is there any way I can get messages to delete across all devices?

    Hi sdchaves:
    I'd like to chime in here and get your voicemail notifications working again. I have a few questions for you.  When you turned on the voicemail notifications, did you do that by dialing into your voicemail box? Also, has this worked in the past? One recommendation I have to solve this is to dial *228 and choose option 1.  Once the programming is completed, please pull the battery for 20-30 seconds. Also, when someone calls you, are they able to leave a voicemail message? When you call, are there new messages waiting?  If people are unable to call & leave a message, you can dial *73 to cancel call forwarding. This generally fixes the problem.
    Keep us posted!

  • Do Not Disturb not muting notifications for group messages in iOS 8

    I have Do Not Disturb enabled for a particular group conversation. It mutes sounds for that conversation, but doesn't suppress notifications. This seems contrary to the "Mute notifications for this conversation." description under the setting. Am I misinterpreting how this feature is intended to work?

    If in fact all it is supposed to do is turn the sound off but you still get notifications, that is massively stupid. You know, I absolutely love Apple products and I hate to say this, but Apple is completely losing me. They need to get this right and use their brains. If I'm a part of a group text and there are texts coming in every 30 seconds, it helps me 10% to mute the sound, but 90% to just get rid of all the notifications so I can check in on that text when I feel like it. • Https Class for Encryption Message...One question on this

    (1)I have written a java code that connects to an https server.
    Do I always need to have a client certificate in my code for the browser

    Is it possible to write a normal class that makes an https connection without

    Assuming that the Server has a valid certificate,what needs to be done

    https connection to transfer data securely.
    (2)Also,how do we install a certifcate in a browser? Why do we do this?

    Hi Amelin
    Thanks for your reply.
    I havent understood your statement:
    But You'll not authenticate your client. Everyone will be able to acces to your server.
    My objective is:
    1) Send a Message over HTTPS to a Servlet.
    This Servlet will decrypt the Message,and then
    send a response back to the caller in encrypted
    format and the caller will decrypt the response from
    the Servlet.
    For this,I created a class called Encrypt,which will
    transfer data over https to the Receiving Servlet.
    That Servlet will decrypt the message and send
    a response back to the caller in encrypted format
    and the caller will decrypt the Response.
    My codes are as follows:
    Class Encrypt2
    package Encryption;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.security.*;
    import javax.net.*;
    import javax.net.ssl.*;
    import com.sun.net.ssl.*;
    import java.net.*;
    public class Encrypt2
    public String sMess;
    public String sURL;
    public static void ec(String sMess,String sURL)
    try {
    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
    Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
    URL url;
    String uri = "https://" + sURL + ":8443/AHTTPS_USERPWD/servlet/SecureServer3";
    System.out.println("uri is " + uri);
    url = new URL(uri);
    HttpsURLConnection hpCon=null;
    // Code below is used as the Client doesnt trust the Server Certifcate.
    // This will be deleted if the Server has genuine/valid certificates.
    try {
    KeyManager[] km = null;
    TrustManager[] tm = {new RelaxedX509TrustManager()};
    SSLContext sslContext = SSLContext.getInstance("SSL");
    sslContext.init(null, tm, new java.security.SecureRandom());
    SSLSocketFactory sslSF = sslContext.getSocketFactory();
    hpCon = (HttpsURLConnection)url.openConnection();
    hpCon.setSSLSocketFactory(sslSF);
    }catch(Exception e){}

  • Designing notification for incoming messages

    Hi all;
    I work on a project where I have the task of finding a way to give the user a notification in the header part of the page, like for example number of new messages recieved. These messages are received asynchronously in the background using a web service.
    What I did, is that I defined a class that implemented the ServletRequestListener interface which fires a method on EACH request to check the new messages in the notifications table, and made other necessary configuration like registering the listener in the web.xml file.
    But it is very bad to connect to the table on each request, any better and more efficient ideas, please.

    Hi Francois, nothing wrong with your English at all!
    Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
    Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
    Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
    Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
    If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • Absence of Mail Notification for undelivered messages.

    I have recently sent some important mail messages with attachments, they never arrived and I didn't get any notification to let me know. I have looked and can't find anywhere that I can 'switch' this setting on. As far as I am aware they were within the size limit but I have noticed that even if messages with attachments are just slightly less than the allowed size they won't even leave my mailbox. Is there anything I can do about both these problems. Thank You.

    There a few issue here. First, if an e-mail doesn't go through, it's up to the server that didn't hand it off to send back a message to inform you of it. There's nothing to do in Apple Mail (or any other e-mail program, for that matter) to set in order to request notification. It's quite possible that a server botched handling mail along the way, and it's far more likely that mail was not delivered because something in the message cause SPAM-blocking software to throw it out (these days, that's the most likely scenario), in which case you'd never be notified.
    Mail has no limit on the size of messages. Your Internet service provider may have limits, and the recipient's e-mail service may also have limits. What happens if you go over the limit is really up to the mail services involved. Your local service provider is likely to return an error to Mail at the time you attempt to send it, indicating that it can't be sent. Your recipient's mail service could: throw the message away, strip out the attachments, or return the message back to you with an explanation why it's refused. There's no rule to state that the recipient's mail service has to do anything in particular.
    Generally speaking, for anything other than a trivial image, you want to place the file in some web-accessible location and then send a link to where the file can be retrieved.
    Also, keep in mind that when you attach a file to an e-mail message, it grows in size by 35%. This is because e-mail is a text-only service, non-text data needs to be converted to text for e-mailing and the conversion method is called "base-64 encoding". Base-64 encoding uses 4 letter to represent every 3 bytes of data in a file (and it adds a few extra characters). So, if you attach a 10M file, your e-mail attachment's actual size will be 13.5M.

  • No notification for received messages

    Hello all, I've been having some trouble recently with my messages. Basically, I no longer receive the red notifications on the spotify icon nor the blue notifications on the inbox in spotify whenever I receive a message, forcing me to check often to see if someone has messaged me. This is a total pain when messaging someone while doing something else concurrently. The only time I receive the red notification (on the icon) or the blue notification (on the inbox) is whenever I start spotify up. Otherwise, I am never notified when I receive a message. Additionally, I have the omnipresent problem of the eternal notification. Once I get the red/blue notification it stays there for my entire session. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix this? I use the message function frequently to chat with a handful of people and I would really love to see it working again. And if this is a double post, I am so sorry to all of the moderators. I know this makes your blood boil. Thanks!

    Both my girl friend and I are having this same problem. We are having to manually check our inbox for messages from eachother. The only time I get a notificaiton is if she send a message the previous day and I didn't read it prior to leaving & boot up my computer. Only then will I get a blue (I use Win7 Pro on a PC) notification upon Spotify starting. We both even uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify to see if there was a problem with the program and to make sure we had the latest version.  We are using 1.0.11.134.ga37df67b.  GRRR someone please fix this ASAP!

  • Test sample for encrypted message?

    Hi, there. I have created a client/server program with the sslscoket and sslserversocket, using the keystore and truststore and the self-signed certificate. Now I can send a message from the client and receive the message in the server side using the socket's outputstream and inputstream.
    Now my question is if there is a way (or test program) that can tell the message is indeed encrypted in the client side and it is decrypted in the server side. Better to have some actual output from the test sample, rather than explaining the theory from the JSSE document.
    Thanks

    Thanks so much. I can actually see it encrypted now.
    But, i still have something not clear. I saw the program was using the cipher suite of "SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5", and it added 16 bytes at the end of my message and 5 bytes at the beginning of the message.

    I set up gmail when I started using my Droid phone.  I had problems with my last phone and was given the Droid Razr.  Whenever I receive an email, I get the notification twice.  It appears in two places on my phone.  One is under the g for my gmail account.  The other is in what looks like a stamp with @ in the middle of it.  How do I get rid of one of these without losing my account?
    I tried following the directions on My Verizon, but the only option I get when I press the menu key is "sync now".

    Sounds like your issue you setup the account in two separate apps... Remove the account from the email application because the gMail application is a separate application and you do not need to applications monitoring the same account.
