Duplicates of my photos every time I back up?

Every time I back up my iPhone to my PC my photos are duplicated in my Photo Album and this is eating into my memory. At this stage my phot album is using 16GB of memory! Help please

I went to itunes, there was no left panel, but when i clicked on file i got these options:
devices, so i clicked on it, then there were these options:
Sync to:  (1) my phone name
              (2) transfere purchases from: my phone name
              (3) back up
              (4) restore from back up
- other than that, if i click on (far right at the top) iphone. It brings up info about my phone.
- at the top there is a photo button, so i clicked it.
- once that opened it offered options:
(a box you can check) sync photos from (then it says "pictures" in light grey.
below that it gives options if you check marked the box:
all folders, select folders or include videos.
at the bottom is the sync button or revert button
I tried to sync without checking the box, but nothing came off my phone.
the only thing i can think of is these photos were on an old laptop.
do i need to be on that laptop to have them deleted?

There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
    The issue your having is with the way Keynote  takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
    Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on  either display,  use application switcher:
press the the  command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command  > tab to return to Keynote.

  • Must import all photos every time

I recently updated my iPhoto 5 with whatever the most current downloadable update was, i believe its 5.0.4. Ever since this, i cannot choose not to import images that are already in the iPhoto library and also still on my camera's memory. It it making me import ALL of my photos EVERY time. this is annoying, since i do not always like to delete the media from my camera right away.
In my older versions of iPhoto 5 i was prompted to decide wether or not to import duplicates every time i hooked up the camera, now it does not display this prompt, it just imports everything every time. can i turn the prompt box back on so that i can only inport the photos i dont have yet. or has this feature been done away with for some unknown and ill-logical reason?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. iPHoto 6 seems to have a problem in this area for a lot of users, thought not all. I found that if I upload to a folder on the desktop and then import that folder I get the query regarding duplicates. You might give that a try until iPhoto's fixed. You can use Image Capture to handle the upload to the Desktop. It's located in your Applications folder.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar

  • Every time i sync in my music in my iphone 5 it would have to back up my iphone and every time i back up the loading bar would freeze then my itunes with crash pls help my iphone 5 coat a lot from my savings

every time i sync in my music in my iphone 5 it would have to back up my iphone and every time i back up the loading bar would freeze then my itunes with crash pls help my iphone 5 cost a lot from my savings

Syncing requires a backup as part of the sync process.
Delete any existing backups in iTunes under Edit > Preferences > Devices (or simply move them to a different folder on the computer) then try a backup or sync.

  • ITunes 11.1.2 reinstalls photos every time

If I connect my iPhone to the Mac (Mavericks) (iTunes 11.1.2) then iTunes is installing all the photos all over again on evry sync!
normaly it just copies the latest photos but now it is copying the entire photofolders I selected in iTunes every time it syncs the iPhone,
    anyone else having this bug???
I hope Apple brings an update to Mavericks soon because there are indeed some bugs in this release,
like spotlight indexing almost every day now (Mountain Lion didn't do that)
    kind regards

    Hey xavierfromfl,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with iTunes on your Mac. Let’s see if we can isolate this issue by starting iTunes in safe mode:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
    - Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
    - Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    - Slow performance.
    - iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
    - You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you notice any of the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any plug-ins not manufactured by Apple by opening iTunes in Safe Mode. This is done by holding down the Option and Command keys (on Mac OS X) or holding down the Shift and Control keys (on Windows) while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see the following dialog before iTunes finishes starting up:
"iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
If the above does not resolve your issue, I’d like to isolate further by testing in another user account:
Isolating an issue by using another user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
    Symptoms
When isolating issues and/or troubleshooting software issues in OS X, you might want to use a different user account. Learn how to use this technique to narrow down the cause of an issue.
    Resolution
The issue at hand may simply be caused by a bad preference setting or user-specific data file. With proper isolation, you can avoid time-consuming and inappropriate troubleshooting methods.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I moved my iPhoto libraries from one hard drive to another and have to manually locate the photos, every time!!!

I moved my iPhoto libraries from one hard drive to another and now every time I open a library I have to manually locate the photos. After locating the first file, it works well and remembers the location of the files of all the events, even when the folders containing the actual photos are in several different locations.
The problem is that when I close and open iPhoto, it does not remember where the files were and I have to locate at least a file, all over again.
Does anyone knows if there is a way of making iPhoto "remember" or saving the location of the files?

By default, iPhoto will store its library file under ~/Pictures. To select a library manually in iPhoto:
    Ensure that iPhoto is closed.
Hold down the Option key and click on the iPhoto icon in your Dock or launch it from the Applications folder.
    Click on Choose Library.
Locate and select the library you wish to use.
Close iPhoto and re-open it. Does it remember the library that you selected?
For more information on moving your iPhoto library, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229.
Hope that helps, have a great day.

  • IPhone syncs same 213 songs  and same 21 photos every time

Lately, every time I plug my iPhone to my computer, the same 213 songs and the same 21 photos sync every time. I have the option checked to convert songs to 128 kbps AAC to free up more room on my phone, but it is annoying because I have to wait for these songs to finish before any new movies can be synced, and I really do enjoy not having to manually add every new song to my iPhone that goes into my library, but I'm getting tired of it taking this long to sync every time. Anybody else having similar issues?

I was having the same issue when syncing my iPhone using the conversion option to my MacbookPro. It was syncing the same 12 songs every time I would sync. I updated iTunes to the latest version 9.1(12). The version I was using was 9.1(11) and for some reason, software update was not picking up the version 9.1(12), so I had to manually download it and install it from the Apple site. Anyway, after the install, everything synced fine.

  • My ipad takes a photo every time I turn it off - how can I fix this?

I have an IPAD II 16 gig.  Every time I click the close button on top - a photo is taken.  How can I stop this?

Make sure the Home button is not depressed at the same time you turn the iPad off.
Otherwise, try a reset >   Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • HT1386 Why does iTunes reinstall all my photos every time I sync with my iDevice?

I store over 10000 photos on my ipad and iphone.
It doesn't usually happen, but lately, when I sync with my device via iTunes, it deletes all my photos and resync them back in.
Which dramatically increase my sync time from a few minutes to half an hour.
Does anyone know what might be the cause of it? And most important, how to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hello clarkkent0117,
You may need to delete the relevant iPod Photo Cache.

  • Why "Optimizing Photos" every time I sync?

Every time I plug the iPad into my PC it has to "optimize" my photos. All 5000 of them. Every time. It doesn't seem to copy them, but the "optimizing" takes forever - like 1 second per picture. Very very annoying.
    Any suggestions?

Just a guess, but if you delete your ipad photo cache directory, it will create the files all over again. Otherwise, i think it only optimizes the ones that you changed. (are you doing something to change one or more settings of all 5000 photos?

  • Aperture is processing the same 335 photos every time I open it.

Aperture 3.1.2: Every time I open Aperture, it begins processing photos, the same 335 photos. Once it's done, I close the application, open it, and it begins processing the same photos again. The photos are seemingly random. Is anyone else having this problem?

Do you have Faces or Places enabled? Those could be the culprits...

  • Duplicate calendar / iCal entries every time I sync Nokia 6300

Every time I sync my Nokia 6300 the entries I have put on the calendar on the phone originally and which have then synced to iCal get duplicated so that I end up with duplicate entries every time I use iSync
As always any help or advice most appreciated
    Thanks a million in advance

Ok, the same problem occurs when I start my mac not in my local network, but in a network that is connected to the Internet. The WebDAV cal account will be created automatically when Internet is available.
    Any suggestions?

  • Ipad takes photo every time I close the cover of its case. When I close the cover - it really does take a picture and saves a photo. Luckly, it make a click, and pictures are seen in the photo album, and it does not appear to be forwarding.

When I close the cover - it really does take a picture and saves a photo. Luckly, it make a click, and pictures are seen in the photo album, and it does not appear to be forwarding. It is just gobbling memory and annoying as I can only delete these pictures one at a time.

It seems to take a picture of the counter top = I do not see the keyboard.
I am wondering ....It may be a kids game app that takes pictures of the screen or out the back camera. I am starting to think it may just be a sound effect when placing the iPad on its screen. So many things that may be unrelated but coincedental. It started in May (the sound) and so did the multiple pictures - starting to think they are not related.
Thanks for the quick tip on deleting multiple pictures.

  • I get a message to import photos every time I start IPhoto 08 even though..

the images have been imported. It keeps importing 61 of the same images over and over. The message reads, "*61 Photos have been found in the IPhoto library that were not imported*", "would you like to import them?" This messgage is annoying as heck and I would like to make it stop! Any suggestions?

    Dentaldawg:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open the iPhoto Library package like this and look for a folder with Import in the file name. Move it to the desktop and launch iPhoto again. If the message stops you can then drag that folder into the open iPhoto window and import. If they are duplicates you'll get an option to not import them.

I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto automatically displaying latest imported photos every time

Hi, I have noticed for a while that iPhoto always automatically comes back to the "latest imported" photo album whenever I come back to the iPhoto window. Does any one knows what that means and how to stop it?
For instance when I go to another app (let's say safari) while I am modifying a picture, when I come back to iPhoto it switches directly to the "latest import" album. This is really annoying !
    Thanks for your help !
    Louis

Yes. Close iPhoto, go to the Picture folder and open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot:
Look in the Auto Import folder and move any items in it to the Desktop.  Launch iPhoto and it should work as expected.
