PHP Include not showing in design view
One of the advantages of Dreamweaver is the ability to see
the result of your code in the Design view. I am building a
template set for a web site I'm starting, and will be using the
template files in various paths and path depths. As a result, I am
not interested in using relative paths for things like PHP
includes.
If I use the following code for an include, the 'main.php'
file is included in the design view:
<?php include('/includes/templates/main.php'); ?>
When uploaded to the Apache server, this does not display
properly, because it is looking for the file in the user root, not
the Apache document root.
The portable code solutions to this would be to use the
following code:
<?php
include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/includes/templates/main.php');
?>
This shows perfectly when uploaded to the Apache server, but
of course does not show in the Design view of Dreamweaver.
It is ridiculous to think that someone would want code one
way to see in the design view, and another for the web server, so I
am assuming that there is a way to do this so that it works both in
the desing view and on the web server.
I have had limited success using:
<?php virtual('/includes/templates/main.php'); ?>
which shows up in both the design view and on the web server.
However, I've experienced problems using virtual calls in scripts
called by the virtual command. I.e. nested inclusions. It would be
important to note that PHP's own documentation states "This
function may be used on PHP files. However, it is typically better
to use include() or require() for PHP files.", along with other
warnings.
So, basically, what I am asking for is a solution to allow
the following code to work and show the included file in the design
view:
<?php
include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/includes/templates/main.php');
?>
Any suggestions?
BTW, I have tried setting the PHP include_path to the web
root so that the first example above would work. Doesn't work. I
have full, unrestricted access to the server, so if there is
another setting or configuration change I can make to have the
include function default to the web root, I'd love to know what it
is.quote:

I'm not referencing dynamic output from PHP processing. I am
referencing includes. When using an include, Dreamweaver shows you
exactly what it would show you if you were looking at the included
file itself.
However, Dreamweaver makes the assumption that <?php
include('/inc/test.php'); ?> is a path located in the web server
document root. This is not the same assumption that web servers
make.
The Apache web server (at least the several that I use),
treat this same include as a request for /inc/test.php off of the
root of the server. To achieve the same include, relative to the
web document root, the include must be <?php
include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/inc/test.php'); ?>.
Unfortunately, Dreamweaver does not understand this basic syntax
and will not show the included file in the design view.
The bottom line is that Dreamweaver could make it much
simpler to build portable code if it understood this syntax on the
include. You could take place that include in any location on your
site and it would pull the include from the proper location in both
your design view and on the web server.
Keep in mind that we establish a "document_root" when we set
up a site in Dreamweaver. The information is already there. The
handling of it just needs to be added to the include parser. -

Problem With Submitting Data to Php Mail Script.
So i am working with this Flash template that my boss purchased. It has a contact form, you are supposed to be able to fill it out, and it sends an email to a specified email address.
However, it does not work. At all!
There are 4 Fields on the form
name
email
phone
message
The Code for the Submit Button is
-----Button Code-----
onClipEvent(load){this.t.v = _root.contacts_txt7;}
on (rollOver) {this.gotoAndPlay("s1");}
on (rollOut) {this.gotoAndPlay("s2");}
on(release){
_parent.loadVariables("inc/mail.php", "POST");
----Button Code-----
The php script is
---------------Php Script------------------
<?
$name=$_POST['name'];
$email=$_POST['email'];
$phone=$_POST['phone'];
$message=$_POST['message'];
$ToEmail = "email@here";
$ToSubject = "Message from your site";
$EmailBody = "Name: $name\n
Email: $email\n
Phone: $phone\n
Message: $message\n";
$Message = $EmailBody;
$headers .= "Content-type: text; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
$headers .= "From:".$name." / ".$email."\r\n";
mail($ToEmail,$ToSubject,$Message, $headers);
?>
------------Php Script------------
It seems like it should work. The mail function on the server works, as I am able to setup a basic php contact page, and it works, however, he wants this flash contact form. It's as if the flash is not sending anything to the php script. Is there something missing? I have stared at it for hours, and have resorted to banging my head on the wall in an effort to jar loose ideas, thus far, nothing.that should be:
$headers = "Content-type: text; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
$headers .= "From:".$name." / ".$email."\r\n";
and:
on(release){
trace(_parent.email+" "+_parent.name+" "+_parent.phone+" "+_parent.message);
_parent.loadVariables("inc/mail.php", "POST"); -
PHP Question - Links Breaking Code
Hello-
I am helping a client update a site that was written in PHP.
I am not very proficient in this language and have run into a
problem creating a mailto link. Whenever I add the link, it breaks
the page and nothing displays. I take it out and the page appears
again. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is the page code with the mailto included:Obviously youre using custom code to create the page, ie the
createPage()
function, and im not sure what that does, however from the
looks of things I
think its the " marks in the a href are causing the problem,
as its looks
like createPage expects a list of parameters, and its seeing
the " mark as a
new parameter.
Replace " with ' , it won't make any difference to the way
the link works,
but it should stop the string from being broken in the
parameter list ie:
<?php
include_once(dirname(__FILE__). '/inc/sitecommon.php');
$html = createPage("Contacts","<div
class='bgWords_home'></div>","","<p>1.888.4.STROKE
(478.7653)</p><p>National
Center<br>7272 Greenville Avenue<br>Dallas, Texas
75231-4596</p><p><a
href='mailto:[email protected]'>[email protected]</a></p>");
print $html;
?>
Give it a try and see if it works
An Alternative is to escape the quotes eg using \" for the
link ie
<?php
include_once(dirname(__FILE__). '/inc/sitecommon.php');
$html = createPage("Contacts","<div
class='bgWords_home'></div>","","<p>1.888.4.STROKE
(478.7653)</p><p>National
Center<br>7272 Greenville Avenue<br>Dallas, Texas
75231-4596</p><p><a
href=\"mailto:[email protected]\">[email protected]</a></p>");
print $html;
?>
Either should work, but I find ' is easier to read than \",
but both do the
same thing

Trouble adding regular oracle oci8 support to RPM, CentOs 5
Hello,
It seems that i'm missing smth simple while trying to add oci8 support to RPM.
I took Christopher Jones's SRPM for 5.2.3 as a base, but since i don't have and don't need a support for instant client i modified latest available 5.1.6 SRPM from CentOS 5 repo.

%description
PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. PHP attempts to make it
easy for developers to write dynamically generated webpages. PHP also
offers built-in database integration for several commercial and
non-commercial database management systems, so writing a
database-enabled webpage with PHP is fairly simple. The most common
use of PHP coding is probably as a replacement for CGI scripts.
The php package contains the module which adds support for the PHP
language to Apache HTTP Server.

Code hints don't work - include files using a variable
In Dreamweaver CS 5.5 code hints didn't work properly.
DW would not look at my code and find the include files and look at the functions inside them when using a variable to make an absolute path, which is the best way to include files in PHP (its faster and more reliable on your web server)
Here is an example:
======================================
public_html/util/util_index.php
$DIR_MAIN =dirname(dirname(__FILE__).'../');
require_once "$DIR_MAIN/init.php";
my_function(#CODE COMPLETE DOES NOT WORK HERE
public_html/init.php
$DIR_INCLUDE= "$DIR_MAIN/inc";
require "$DIR_INCLUDE/common_functions.php";
#set up environment variables
#connect to the database
#etc
public_html/inc/common_functions.php
function my_function(param1, param2, param3) {
=======================================
Has this been fixed in Dreamweaver CS6 or should I wait until CS7?
Until this works, I prefer Notepad++I made a full SQL Developer installation with Java included, so I suppose that the included version is used.
After a problem with the German Version I tried to switch to English Version by using the hint:
link: 1.5.4 export insert statements
I changed the content of sqldeveloper.conf and now again the code templates (strg-shift-t) don't work!!!
(I already rebooted and set the accelerators to default, but it didn't help now.)
This is the content of my sqldeveloper.conf now:
"IncludeConfFile ../../ide/bin/ide.conf

URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration
My hosting company has made a server config change and my xslt pages have stopped working with the following error.
It says url file access is disabled but my phpinfo() still shows allow_url_fopen = on
What else might be the problem?
Warning: require_once() [

I don't understand your use of the word 'class' in your reply - I am using php not asp.net.
The name of the file that you are trying to access is MM_XSLTransform.class.php. It is a PHP class created by Dreamweaver for the XSL Transformation server behavior.
The servers php is 5.2.11, as it has been for sometime, so I know that it previously worked with allow_url_fopen = on and allow_url_include = off
Judging from the error message, you are trying to include the file using a URL, rather than a file path:
Fatal error: require_once() [
function.require]: Failed opening required 'http://www.xxxxx.co.uk/includes/MM_XSLTransform/MM_XSLTransform.class.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php5') in
/homepages/0/xxxx/htdocs/xxxxx/inc/horoscope_xml.php on line

Change the URL to a file path:
require_once('/homepages/0/xxxx/htdocs/includes/MM_XSLTransform/MM_XSLTransform.class.php');
Is it possible for phpinfo() to show allow_url_fopen = on yet be actually off on the server?
No.
[Edited to correct name of server behavior] -
When I try to create a new page via File>New>Page from Template, I get the error message saying it is nested inside itself. How do I get around this?
Thanks,

CSS background to multiline heading
Hi all, I am trying to get a background colour behind the text of a heading by CSS. Sometimes it is a single line of text, which works fine, but as soon as it wraps, the background spreads right across the container it's in.
How can I get a colour block to sit behind the heading only allowing for a 5px padding on multi line heading.
Here is an example:
http://news.discovery.com
Notice on the middle image there is a heading (currently the walking dead) doing pretty much what I need, but here I notice it is broken down into a span per word. Is this really how I have to do it, and if so, how do you think they managed to break each word into a span?
Thanks.Here you go:
http://www.showmetransport.com/inc-HomePagePanel.php
It is responsive, so if you collapse the page, you see the effect of the text wrapping and how it suddenly switches from sitting behind the text on a single line to becoming a full width panel on multi lines.
There is already a version in place on the homepage, but although I have tried to make it responsive, the DW extension I used for it is difficult to work with. I actually found the widget spry tabbed panels easier to work with. -
Code Coloring - adding extensions
Does anyone know how to make .inc files (or any extension)
use the .php code coloring scheme (or any scheme) in Dreamweaver 9
(CS3)? The tech note I found among these messages applies to
Dreamweaver MX, but not all configuration files mentioned in the
tech article are found in the DW9/CS3 configuration.theopan,
OK, I think I understand the problem now. The
MMDocumentTypes.xml file
is no longer automatically copied from the Application
Configuration
folder to the User Configuration folder, so you need to
manually copy it.
Hope this helps,
Randy

Necesito saber que lo que debo insertar en el código
html de una página,
para que en la misma se pueda ver un .swf de otra
dirección
En realidad es para actualizar banners de una ong y que los
que dessen poner
el mismopuedan leerlo
GraciasHola Maria
Mira. Normalmente se utiliza ../nombre-del archivo o
/nombredelarchivo.
Cambia esos valores por una dirección completa
Ejemplo
http://dominio.com/nombre-de-la-carpeta-swf/nombre-del-swf
O puedes intentar con lo siguiente. No lo he probado, pero
creo que te puede
servir
Donde va el nombre del archivo lo cambias por:
<?php include ("nombre del swf.php");?>
<?php include
http://dominio.com/nombre-de-la-carpeta-swf/nombre-del-swf");?>
