Dynamic action with interactive report region refresh

Hi!
I'm using APEX 4.02
I've got a page with 2 regions.
Region1 is a (input) form
Region2 is an interactive report on the same table as region 1
When entering values on the form I'm trying to dynmically lookup similar records in the table with the interactive report.
I've made a dynamic action on the change of the form fields which should refresh the interactive report region. I can see this one fires if I add a alert to debug if it fires.
The dynamic report is based on a query with bind variables pointing to the form fields, for example
where
field1 = :P2_FIELD1
This works great on the page load, so no dynamic action is fired but I can see the rows in the report region are the ones I am looking for.
But the refresh of the report region is not working, it is never refreshing and/or showing the correct data after a change of the form fields, so it looks like the dynamic action "refresh region" is not working on the interactive report.
Any ideas why this can go wrong ?
I would like to solve this using standard dynamic actions and preferrably not via PL/SQL or JS, shoudl be possible if I should believe the documentation... ;)
Cheers
Bas

Hi,
When you change value to item, I assume you do not set value to session state.
Use interactive report advanced attributes "Page Items to Submit" , set items session state before report is refreshed.

  • Dynamic action with function works, doesnt refresh textfield

    Hi all,
    experimenting with dynamic actions so I got the following setup:
    I've built a screen with 2 text boxes
    P7_input
    P7_output
    The goal is to put some tet in P7 input and have it returned with additional text in P7_OUTPUT
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PRC_ECHO
      P_INPUT IN VARCHAR2  DEFAULT 'LEEG'
    , P_OUTPUT OUT VARCHAR2
    ) AS
    BEGIN
      p_output := 'Ingevoerd: ' || p_input;
    END PRC_ECHO;I've created a dynamic action on the LOSE FOCUS event of item P7_INPUT.
    The true action executes PL/SQL (sequence number 10)
    Begin
    eigen_apps.uga_prc_echo (:p7_input, :P7_OUTPUT);
    end;"Page items to submit" are set to P7_INPUT, P7_OUTPUT
    (and I tried with just P7_INPUT).
    The second true action (sequence number 20) does a REFRESH on ITEM P7_OUTPUT (and I tried refresh region and other things I thought would make it work.)
    When I enter something in P7_INPUT and tab, click or enter away from the P7_INPUT field, nothing changes in my P7_OUTPUT textfield.
    Only when I hit the refresh button in my browser P7_OUTPUT is filled with 'Ingevoerd: <P7_INPUT value>.
    So. The procedure does return the value into P7_OUTPUT, but I cant get an instant refresh of the P7_OUTPUT to work.
    Can any of you help me?

  • Dynamic action in a report region in a master detail form

    hi
    I have created a master detail form , in which many validation etc is done ,the MASTER is a FORM  and DETAIL is a REPORT
    Now I am stuck up with the detail region .i.e report
    I have Line Detail where there are ITEMS such as SL NO: ,ITEM_ID , UOM ( Unit of measuremnt ) etc
    Now here is where I need help .
    Using POP UP LOV i have managed to fetch in LOV for the item "ITEM_ID",--- i can select an item name using the pop up LOV ,
    Now all that I want is when I select an item name from the pop up lov , an Item Id is displayed or fetched in that particular place , now i want the corresponding UOM to be diaplayed  ( i.e the UOM for that particular Item Id which has been selected by me from the pop up lov ).
    In order to resolve this I created a Dynamic action where in I get the UOM . Bt the problem is that the ITEMS displayed for selecting in the WHEN section (
    DYNAMIC action
    -IDENTIFICATION section
    -WHEN section----- items (  here i am not listed with ITEMS of the REPORT region instead ITEMS of the MASTER is available )
    -TRUE ACTION section etc is only the
    ITEMS of the MASTER region ..

  • How to clear grey loading screen and animated gif (Dynamic Action with "Show Processing" on submit)

    APEX V4.2.3
    DB 11.2
    I have a classic report on page 1.  I have a region button called "Export" (defined by a submit dynamic action with "show processing=Yes") that submits the page and then via a branch directs me to page 2 which has a slightly different version of the report on page 1 (i.e. no breaks) which I want to capture as a CSV export.  Therefore I've set the report template on page 2 to " Export:CSV".
    Now when I click on the page 1 export button the grey screen and loading gif appears indicating that the report is executing and then as expected, page 2 doesn't appear but instead the standard open/save window's dialog box appears asking to open or save the generated CSV file.  All good..but the grey loading screen remains.  How do I clear this loading screen and get back to the context of page 1 ?
    thanks in advance
    PaulP

    Hi PPlatt,
    We would love to help but you left out one crucial part of the puzzle: namely how does your CSV report get exported. With the way it is setup (a redirect to another page), I'm going to assume you do that because you have some PL/SQL on that page that prints the CSV.
    Now there are two questions that are crucial here:
    - How do we stop the icon from bugging us on the screen
    - How do we communicate with the browser that it should no longer display the loading icon
    The first question is rather easy, two simply lines of codes can do that:
    $('#apex_wait_popup').hide();
    $('#apex_wait_overlay').hide();
    But when do we use this code? Quite simple when the document is downloaded. When is it downloaded? At the end of the PL/SQL code that prints the document to the browser.
    What you could do is at the end of that code give an application item a certain value. For example :AI_PRINTED := 'Y';
    Then all you need to do is let the browser ask for the value. You could do this by using JavaScript to continuously fire AJAX to the server using a JS timing event:
    http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_timing.asp
    Better would be a Server send event, but since you left out another crucial piece of information: your browser, I will not go deeper into this.
    Start this timing event when someone asks for the document, and end it as soon as the process returns that :AI_PRINTED equals 'Y'.
    Despite the lack of information, I hope I have given, or at least inspired you to get to the solution.

  • APEX_040100.WWV_FLOW_API Error while creating a Interactive Report Region

    I am getting the following error while creating an Interactive report region on a page. (version - 4.1.0.00.32)
    Error Unable to create Dynamic Query page.
    ORA-04065: not executed, altered or dropped ORA-04065: not executed, altered or dropped stored procedure "APEX_040100.WWV_FLOW_API" ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "APEX_040100.WWV_FLOW_API"
    DBA complied package but the error persists.
    Does anyone know how to debug this
    Thanks,
    Priyanka

    Hello ???,
    We are experiencing this too at login in an application. The error is caused by violating the constraint WWV_FLOW_DATA_IDX1 on columns FLOW_INSTANCE, ITEM_ID in table WWV_FLOW_DATA. So for some reason the value of an item in session state is set multiple times.
    When looking at the Access view (statement below) I see that there are multiple logins per second for a user (I have seen 12 times as maximum).
    select login_name, application, access_date, count(*)
    from WWV_FLOW_USER_ACCESS_LOG_V
    group by login_name, application, access_date
    having count(*) > 1
    order by access_date descSince this count of logins varies from 1 to 12, it looks like it is not caused by the application itself, but I also don't have a clue what the root cause is.
    Is there anyone else with more information on this issue?
    We are on APEX 4.0 and Oracle 11g and the applications have all been built in this environment, so no upgrades have been performed.

  • User Interface Template for Interactive Report Region

    In 3.2, where do we set the user interface template for Interactive Reports region?
    No matter what out of the box theme I switch to, the Interactive Reports region shows the same. What and where do I change the template so that alternating rows use two different colors?

    There is no template for Interactive Reports like for a "normal" report. You need to modify the CSS and supply your own for this to happen.
    I believe most things are tagged with #apexir - firebug with Firebox is invaluable. This thread may help:

  • Dynamic action with set value on date field

    Hi,
    I'm using APEX 4.02
    I'm trying to calculate the age based on the date of birth dynamically on a form. I'm trying to do this with a (advanced)dynamic action with set value.
    I'm able to get this kind of action working based on a number field etc, but NEVER on a date field.
    I've read all posts on this subject but so far no solution. Even if I try to simply copy the value over to another date field or typecast it to a string ( to_char function ) it does not work. So for me the problem seems to be in the source field being a date field.
    I've tried using the source value as is in a select statement :
    select :P33_GEBOORTEDATUM from dual;
    and also type casted based on the date format :
    select TO_DATE(:P33_GEBOORTEDATUM,'DD-MON-YYYY') from dual
    but still no luck.
    On the same form I don't have any issues as long as the calculation is based on number fields, but as soon as I start using dates all goes wrong.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need any extra info just let me know.
    Cheers

    Hi,
    Create a dynamic action named "set age" with following values.
    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    Action: Set value
    Fire on page load: TRUE
    Set Type: PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression: ROUND( (SYSDATE - :P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH)/365.24,0)
    Page items to submit: P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P1_AGE

  • Dynamically hide/display multiple report regions.

    Hi,
    I need to build a dashboard like homepage for users with multiple report regions. Users should be able to pick the regions they want and the display point for those regions.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Asha,
    I think the "where" part would have to come from CSS. If you visit http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=49882:3653 you can see a couple of HTML type regions which I placed using div tags and putting something like<div class="rpt_query" id="rpt_query">in the region Header and </div> in the region footer. You can accomplish the same with Report type regions and maybe any type of region.
    As for whether or not a region is shown, that can be done in the Conditional Display attributes. I do this by selecting "Value of Item in Expression 1 = Expression 2" as the Condition Type, a hidden page item as Expression 1, and a number (perhaps corresponding to check box as mentioned previously) as Expression 2. I'm actually using pseudo tabs and when a user clicks one of the tabs it changes the value of the hidden page item and submits the page to get the new region to show up.
    Hope this helps,
    Gregory

  • Dynamic Actions with Multiple Actions Capability

    Dynamic Actions with Multiple Actions Capability
    How can I get Dynamic Actions to work on Actions that are stored solely on IT0302 due to the multiple relationship to a previous Action that is stored on both IT0302 and IT0000?
    When multiple actions on a given day are executed, the dynamic action from the first action entered is executed twice - when it should only execute the first time with the second actions dynamic action triggering the second time.
    Thanks

    When there are multiple actions with the same effective date the wrong dynamic action is triggered.  For example, if I have an Expat Return To Home action followed by an Internal Move action with the same effective date the below events occur:
    1.  IT0001 is updated due to Expat Return to Home - triggering the Dynamic Action off of IT0000 which is Expat Return to Home (Correct)
                -  Action is stored on IT0000 and IT0302
    2.  IT0001 is updated due to Internal Move - triggering the Dynamic Action off of IT0000 which is Expat Return to Home (Incorrect - background processing creates data not needed)
                -  Action is stored only on IT0302
    Question:
    How can we leverage Multiple Actions with the same effective date while continuing to use Dynamic Actions?

  • SQL Report Region Refresh

    Application Express 4.0.2.00.09
    Oracle 11 XE
    How do I setup a Dynamic Action to refresh my region every X number of seconds? I can refresh the region easy enough on events, but I can't seem to figure out the timing thing. Maybe I just need some sleep...
    Austin

    Joe -
    Interestingly enough, I have not yet found a good way to alter the Report Region title with the last update time. I would think there is a way to do it, but I do not currenlty have that knowledge, nor the time to thoroughly investigate how to do it. I do have a bit to share about the mechanics of the refresh discussed earlier in this thread.
    Consider this code, place in the footer of a SQL Report Region:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
      var d = new Date();
      document.write("Last Updated: " + d);
      setInterval("jQuery('#INTRADAY_IRR').trigger('apexrefresh');", 2000);
    -->This will place the date as a footer to the SQL report. The javascript will then refresh the report every two seconds. (or whatever timeframe you specify) Now, in my SQL for my report, I added an additional column that is the current time. My SQL would look something like:
    SELECT foo,
            bar,
            to_char(sysdate, 'HH24:MI:SS') update_time
    FROM dualThis SQL will show when the data was last fetched from the database, while the footer of the region shows the time when the region was loaded by the browser.
    If you run the page with these, or similar, parameters, you will notice that the update_time column in the report changes with each refresh, however, the region footer does not change. This is because the script isn't called everytime the data is refreshed. This would indicate that using the methodology mentioned previously in this thread, the entire region is not refreshed but simply the dataset and the report itself. This would mean that you would have a quite difficult time updating the region title from the SQL code alone... I'm not saying it is impossible, I just don't know how to do it...
    Having said that- I do have a work around.
    Consider this as the region title:
    <div id="MyUpdatedReport" ></div>Now consider this code in the region header:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function getUpdatedDate() {
      var d = new Date();
      document.getElementById('MyUpdatedReport').innerHTML="Region Title - Last Updated: " + d;
      t=setTimeout('getUpdatedDate()',2000);
    </script>And this in the region footer:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
      setInterval("jQuery('#INTRADAY_IRR').trigger('apexrefresh');", 2000);
      getUpdatedDate();
    -->
    </script>We create a DIV tag as our header. Then we have a function in the header that updates our div tag every two seconds. In the footer, we tell APEX to refresh the data every two seconds, and we tell our function to begin working. Effectively, you have a timestamp indicating when, theoretically, the data should have been refreshed. Now, this timestamp in the Region Title is NOT the true update time, but, theoretically it should be close. You should probably test this to see if you want to use it. Personally, I don't like this solution and I don't think I would ever implement it in any sort of production application. However, in an application that is just for me, I might hack something like this up.
    The key part of this work around would be to keep your times synchronized. It would be of no benefit if APEX was refreshing the data every 60 seconds but the title was refreshing every 6 seconds. Yikes, that could confuse a few people.
    I hope this has been a help.

  • Trying to use Dynamic Action with button - no #BUTTON_ID#

    I saw this post: Issue with apex  dynamic action
    and I'm having exactly the same issue. I'm using the Blue and Tan Theme and the button's "normal template" looks like the following:
    <table class="t2Button" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"  summary="">
    <tr>
    <td class="t2L"><a href="#LINK#"><img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/button_left.gif" alt="" /></a></td>
    <td class="t2C"><a href="#LINK#">#LABEL#</a></td>
    <td class="t2R"><a href="#LINK#"><img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/button_right.gif" alt="" /></a></td>
    </tr>
    </table>Can someone help me get the #BUTTON_ID# tag in the correct spot?
    (PS. This application was originally built using APEX 3.2 and upgraded to 4.1. Don't know if that matters or not.)

    The button calls a procedure which can take several minutes to complete. It calculates and stores values for display. I'd like to open up a modal window so that the user has more concrete feedback that the calculation process is underway. I'd also like to tie it to the refresh of a particular region on the page that shows a list of the stored calculations.

  • Date format interfering with interactive report

    My APEX version is 3.1.1.00.09.
    I'm using a method described elsewhere to change the global date format of my application. I have application items for a start and end date. I have two application processes, one for On Load: Before Header, the other for On Submit: After Page Submission - Before Computations and Validations. They both do:
    DBMS_SESSION.SET_NLS(param => 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT', value => '''fmMM/DD/fmYY''')
    Okay, all is well with that, my dates seem to stay the way I want them to. Since our upgrade I'm going through each section of my application and updating as necessary, and I particularly want to use the interactive reports. They work fine when the page is loaded, but if I change any options on the interactive report and submit it, I get an "ORA-01843: not a valid month" error. If I refresh the page, everything works as it should.
    What can I do to get around this, or do I have something wrong with my method that is causing this to happen?
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I tried to replicate this, but could not. Now granted, I tried this using the new "modern" method of controlling the default application date format via the new application Globalization attribute "Application Date Format". I set the Application Date Format to fmMM/DD/fmYY and my IR on EMP worked just fine.
    If you can replicate this on apex.oracle.com (using Application Date Format), I'd be happy to take a look at it.

  • Dynamic action in a report

    report: select empno,ename,sal from emp
    env: apex 4, db 10G
    need: when users click the ename, I need it to fire up ( onclick) to run 2 processes ( 1.get value ,2 do some insert statement into other tables). Is it possible to do this with report column ?
    I have tried the following
    1. with link column on ename, by giving it a reguest name , 2 processes ( submit after computation) run under condition ( express=request) , this is not working because link column has no submit action.
    2. attempt to do advanced dynamic action but could not find a place to do it for a report column. It seems it only work with item.
    Can you help ?
    Lulu

    If you want to trigger the processes upon click on the report column "*ename*"
    The settings would be
    Type: Advanced
    Name : some name
    Event : Click
    Selection Type : jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector : *td[headers=ENAME]*

  • Dynamic Heading in Interactive Report

    In standard reports it is possible to create dynamic headings using PL/SQL.
    Does anyone know of a way of doing this for Interactive Reports?
    I have a report that needs to change date headings dependant on the selected start date.
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Item names (or built-in names like APP_ID) appearing in HTML and which begin with ampersand and end with a period are substituted with their session state values only when the names are upper case. The reason for this is to increase parsing efficiency with respect to differentiation between Application Express references and standard HTML references such as:
    &_nbsp;
    &_amp;
    &_lt;
    &_gt;
    ...etc., (ignore underscore in each of the above).
    This ought to be documented better.

  • Dynamic Title for Interactive Report?

    I have an interactive report where I am passing in interative report filters. This is great becase it allows me to reuse a single interactive report in different ways. However, one drawback I am running into is the report title. I'd really like to be able to change the report title based on the filters that I pass in. Is this possible? Can the report title be dynamic?
    Thanks,
    Andrew Watson

    It,s possible.
    I'm using item references to alter the report title.
    Set the item value to the title that you want for your report and the region name as the example.
    Example: Report &P1_ITEM. &P1_ITEM1. &P1_ITEM2. and so far.
