Dynamic Aliasing of column
Hi Friends,
I have a table which is of the following structure:
my_table1(org_id number,
sob_id number,
currency varchar2(5)
Total number)
now insert some sample data:
insert into my_table1 values(1,1,'USD',100);
insert into my_table1 values(1,1,'INR',100);
insert into my_table1 values(1,1,'MXP',100);
insert into my_table1 values(1,1,'INR',100);
insert into my_table1 values(1,1,'USD',100);
now i want to have the following statement:
select org_id,sob_id,currency,total from my_table1
where currency = 'USD'
it will give 2 records.
here if i give dynamic varaiable as &curr the query will be
select org_id,sob_id,currency,total from my_table1
where currency = &curr
it will ask currency.
now i want to give the column alias for currency as "CURRENCY USD" dynamically which depends on my parameter &curr.
Can anybody help me how to do this?????
Have a Nice Day.
Thanks & Regards,
Ahmed.
Maybe this?:

Dynamic Number of Column in a table
Hi guys,
I have a requirement that needs dynamic number of column in a tale.
It is possible to do this in Adobe forms.
Thanks,
ChirantanHello. It of course is possible in Adobe.
You need to write a simple script using JavaScript or FormCalc to hide or show columns according to some special value. You will work with the presence attribute of the object. E.g. MYFIELD.presence = "visible" or "hidden" or "invisible". You will need to change your subforms content to flowed.
Use these guides:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/articles/lc_designer_scripting_basics/lc_designer_scripting_basics.pdf
help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/es/FormCalc.pdf
Hope this helps, good luck, Otto -
Dynamically set number-columns-spanned
Hi all,
I have a cross tab which has a dynamic number of columns. Each column has a header "Location" (which is determined by the data), but the table also has a master header "Volume" which should span all of the locations. How can I acheive this?
I currently have:
<xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="number-columns-spanned">2</xsl:attribute> Volumne
But this is obviously static.
Many Thanks
AndyHi lmd2,
Attached is a quick example of one way to do what you are asking. This is only a general example, and there may be a bettter implementation depending on the architecture of your application. The link here also has information on setting the number of sockets for a specific sequence file. Hope this helps.

Dynamic selection of columns in report and print the output
Hi,
I tried to have dynamic selection of columns in SQL query using lexical parameter. The hitch is how to print those selected column in excel ouput ?
Suppose
I have select &col from table_name
Initial value of &col is col1 and in data layout only col1 appears
where &col was replaced with more than a column (col1,col2,col3)
now how to print the column selected at the run time,
i have coded in Before Report Trigger
:cell_val := ' <td><rw:field id:"cl1" src="col1"></rw:field></td>
<td><rw:field id:"cl2" src="col2"></rw:field></td>
<td><rw:field id:"cl3" src="col3"></rw:field></td> ' ;
and this user parameter was replaced in web source using JSP expression
<rw:getvalue id: "v_cell" src:"cell_val"></rw:getvalue>
<rw:foreach src:"g_val">
<table>
<tr>
<% =v_cell%>
</tr>
</table>
</rw:foreach>
but in the output i can see only blank columns
Regards
SureshThe strings replaced by expression <%= v_cell %>
should print the field values contained in col1,col2,col3 columns, but nothing is printed . i think the custom tags (rw...) are not replaced by the jsp expression properly. -

My columns will remain same but values changes (based on column formula) according to the selected prompt value
If I select 'Oct' from prompt then
Curr will contain data for 'Oct' only
Next1 will contain data for 'Nov' only
Next2 will contain data for 'Dec' only
Next3 will contain data for 'Jan' of next year only.
Later if I select 'Jul' from prompt then
Curr will contain data for 'Jul' only
Next1 will contain data for 'Aug' only
Next2 will contain data for 'Sep' only
Next3 will contain data for 'Oct' only.
I don't have different columns for each months but the columns are capable to reflect data for any month.
So, how can I reflect the column name as month name for which that contains data.

BI Layout/Template | Table with dynamic number of columns
hi!
i have a problem concerning the creation of a dynamic report with the BI publisher.
in my BI template i need a table with a dynamic number of columns. i have searched the
forums but havent really found a solution for this type of problem.
first of all this is A dummy-structure of my dataset:
<ROWSET>
<ROW>
<FIELD1>1</FIELD2>
<FIELD2>2</FIELD2>
<FIELD3>3</FIELD3>
<FIELD4>4</FIELD4>
</ROW>
<ROW>
<FIELD1>a</FIELD2>
<FIELD2>b</FIELD2>
<FIELD3>c</FIELD3>
<FIELD4>d</FIELD4>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>
in the report the fields represent the columns i need in the table.
the problem is, that the number of the fields vary. in this example i have 4 fields/columns
but another time i may have 6 or 10 etc..
my dataset is always different because i am loading my dataset via a http request which is
returning the needed data in XML.
is there a nativ possibility within the publisher to generate the columns dynamically?
i read about <?split-column-header:group element name?> etc. but this is only for cross-tables.
can anybody give me a hint how to approach this problem?
would be very glad for some advice.
thanks a lot in advance!Specific answer is here

Dynamic change selected columns
hi all,
Created an anwers with 5 columns:
level1 | level2 | level3 | level4 | facts
I created a session filter on all the level columns. Like this:
level1 = session.value or
level2 = session.value or
level3 = session.value or
level4 = session.value
Now i want to dynamic change the columns depended on wich column contains the session value.
For example: level2 contains the session value. The ouput I (want to) expect:
level1 | level2 | facts
Hope someone can help with this...tnx in advancedMore information at this link:

Hello,
Is it possible to dynamically hide IR columns. Here's my situation:
I have an IR report that has roughly 60 columns. However, based upon the parameters passed to the report, only about 20 - 25 columns have data in them. The remaining columns contain all Nulls. I want to display only those columns that contain data, and hide those that contain ONLY Null values.
I tried using conditional displays, using column_name is null but it hides the columns whether it contains data or not.
Has anyone else done this, or have a suggestion as to how I can dynamically hide columns based on whether the column contains data? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
BobOne way is to create an apex item for each column that you think it may contain null in all rows.
Use that apex item in the conditional display of your related column in interactive report.

Function returning SQL - dynamically select the column
Hi there,
[Oracle 11g],
Hi there,
I want to dynamically select the column to be displayed.
Or lets say it in an easier way regarding the EMP Table:
I got a table called teststable with value1 and value2 in it.
Value1 is EMPNO
Value 2 is DEPTNO
Now I like to have something like this:
Select (Select Value1 from testtable),(Select Value2 from testtable) from EMP This will not work. So I need a function for this. Does someone now how to get this to work? Thx in advance. Thorsten+ 1 to the above replies.
An example to pick the column name dynamically from a table and rendering the output of EMP table as a XMLTYPE is here.Pushing it a little bit further, you can project back XML as relational rows and columns :
SQL> with testtable (value1, value2) as (
2 select 'EMPNO', 'DEPTNO' from dual
3 )
4 select x.*
5 from testtable t
6 , xmltable(
7 'for $r in fn:collection("oradb:/SCOTT/EMP")/ROW
8 return element r {
9 $r/*[local-name()=$v1]
10 , $r/*[local-name()=$v2]
11 }'
12 passing t.value1 as "v1"
13 , t.value2 as "v2"
14 columns value1 varchar2(30) path '*[1]'
15 , value2 varchar2(30) path '*[2]'
16 ) x
17 ;

Matrix report with dynamic and fixed columns
Hi all,
I have a matrix report which has dynamic as well as few fixed columns.
It is a fixed asset Report in which the sum(cost) in cell should be grouped according to column and row-wise.
The row consists of the activity such as additions, retirements etc and the dynamic column is the category and other fixed columns such as CIP cost, CWIP cost will be grouped only according to row.
the actual layout should be like this
| category 1 | category 2 | category 3 ...... | CIP cost | CWIP cost
Additions | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......| 1234 | 4500
retirements | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......| 1000 | 2500but due to fixed colums in the layout the report builder pushes the fixed colums to the next row with single query i get
| category 1 | category 2 | category 3 ...... |
Additions | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
CIP cost | CWIP cost
1234 | 4500
retirements | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
CIP cost | CWIP cost
1000 | 2500if i try to add those columns alone in a seperate query and then build the report i get the layout like this
| category 1 | category 2 | category 3 ...... |
Additions | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
retirements | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
CIP cost | CWIP cost
2234 | 7000This is my query, i have used union to get the row-wise column activity

Dynamically Hiding a Column in a CFGRID
Here's the situation: I've got a flash form with a cfgrid.
That grid has 4 columns. Is it possible to click a separate button
in the form and hide/show one of the grid columns, similar to
altering the "display" attribute of the <cfgridcolumn> tag? I
know it's possible to click a button and hide the entire grid...
Any help or comments would be most appreciated!Just FYI: I think I solved this by adjusting the column
widths dynamically via Actionscript. There was something odd about
how the grid handled the widths, though. I had to move the column
all the way to the right in the grid and then set it's width to a
negative value to "hide" it, which actually just pushed it off the
screen.
Let me know if you're still having trouble and I can dig up
the code, but it probably won't be that useful if you have to hide
multiple columns. -
Dynamic Creation of Columns based on Date from variable screen
Hi Experts,
Is it possible to create the Columns dynamically?
My requirement is,
for eg if the user selects the dates from 23Aug2008 to March2010 in variable screen, then in the output I should be able to drilldown and see the individual months data i.e., from Aug2008 to March2010 (20 columns).
If the user selects March2009 to November2009 (9 columns)
Is it possible to display in output like this?
Is it possible to create columns dynamically(based on the period selected) in the output?
Kindly help.
Thanks,
Guru
Edited by: hi2guru on Aug 3, 2010 12:07 PMHi Shanthi,
Thanks for replying.
And sorry If i havnt elaborated my requirement.
I used a new structure->new selection with 0CALDAY restricted by 0I_DAYS periodFrom/to variable in Columns.
Its displaying the total of the selected period in a single column.
My requirement is to drilldown the same into individual months values in seperate columns.
If the selected period has 8 months, then 8 columns. if the selected period has 15 months, then 15 individual columns.
Pls help me.

Create export-csv with dynamic (unknown amount) columns
Hi,
This is my first post, hopefully I include everything you need. My code block is at the bottom of my post.....
I have written a PS script that gives me the info I need, but I would like to format it differently. Currently I import a CSV with 2 columns - username and print queue name. The script then takes each username and looks it up in SCCM
to find the workstations the username has logged into. I then export to csv - this is where I would like to format it differently. The export csv has 4 columns username, print queue name, workstation name, and details.
username1,printqueue,workstation1,details
username1,printqueue,workstation2,details
username2,printqueue,workstation1,details
username2,printqueue,workstation2,details
My problem is that if the user logs into 5 workstations I have 5 rows with duplicated username and print queue name. If my next username logs into 8 workstations I have 8 rows, etc. I would like to format the export dynamically using as many
columns (not rows) as need. For example
username1, printqueue,workstation1,workstaion2, workstation3
username2,printqueue,workstation1,workstation2, workstation3,workstation4
I expect where I have my pscustomobject would be where I could change this - I have tried setting up a count variable and using that in my loop to be able to assign dynamic column name, I have tried using an array but still new to setting that up, maybe
I just wasn't doing it correctly. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.
Thanks, Kevin
Here is my code:
#Declare variables
$now = Get-date
$date = get-date -uformat "%Y_%m_%d_%I%M%p"
$Queues = Import-Csv "c:\Users.csv"
$SiteName="XXX"
$SCCMServer="your.sccm.server.com"
$SCCMNameSpace="root\sms\site_$SiteName"
$CSVPath1 = "c:\PrinterUsersByComputer_$date.CSV"
#Notify user that script is starting
Write-Host -ForegroundColor Green "Starting script"
#Loop through each account and find any workstations from SCCM that the user has logged into
foreach ($Queue in $Queues){

#Check if workstation is ALIVE and if we have access to it to get OS version

$OS = Get-WmiObject Win32_OperatingSystem -ComputerName $WS | Select-Object -ExpandProperty Caption -ErrorAction Stop
#Write to screen device to show progress
Write-Host -ForegroundColor Green "Computer information found: $WS"
#Write to log file the username, workstation(s) logged into, and OS version
[PSCustomObject] [Ordered] @{
'UserName' = $Queue.Username
'Print Queue' = $Queue.PrintQueue
'ComputerName' = $WS
'Operating System' = $OS
} | Export-Csv $CSVpath1 -Append -NoTypeInformationOk, just a sec, I'm not sure we are on the same page. I don't think that isn't what I'm look for. Unless I'm missing something, your code above assume 4 workstation columns for every row. What if there is 5 or 8. My current output
from the full script is this (based on checking if PC is pingable, whether I'm denied the WMI query, etc)

How to create a Type Object with Dynamic select query columns in a Function
Hi Every One,
I'm trying to figure out how to write a piplined function that executes a dynamic select query and construct a Type Object in order to assigned it to the pipe row.
I have tried by
SELECT a.DB_QUERY INTO actual_query FROM mytable a WHERE a.country_code = 'US';
c :=DBMS_SQL.OPEN_CURSOR;
DBMS_SQL.PARSE(c,actual_query,DBMS_SQL.NATIVE);
l_status := DBMS_SQL.EXECUTE(c);
DBMS_SQL.DESCRIBE_COLUMNS(c, col_cnt, rec_tab);
FOR j in 1..col_cnt LOOP
DBMS_SQL.DEFINE_COLUMN(c,j,v_val,2000);
END LOOP;
FOR j in 1..col_cnt LOOP
DBMS_SQL.COLUMN_VALUE(c,j,v_val);
END LOOP;
But got stuck, how to iterate the values and assign to a Type Object from the cursor. Can any one guide me how to do the process.
Thanks,
mallikj2Hi Justin,
First of thanks for your reply, and coming to my requirement, I need to report the list of items which are there in the dynamic select statement what am getting from the DB. The select statement number of columns may vary in my example for different countries the select item columns count is different. For US its '15', for UK it may be 10 ...like so, and some of the column value might be a combination or calculation part of other table columns (The select query contains more than one table in the from clause).
In order to execute the dynamic select statement and return the result i choose to write a function which will parse the cursor for dynamic query and then iterate the values and construct a Type Object and append it to the pipe row.
Am relatively very new for these sort of things, welcome in case of any suggestions to make it simple (Instead of the function what i thought to work with) also a sample narrating the new procedure will be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
mallikj2. -
Dynamic ordering ambiguous column issue
I'm working on a stored procedure that will accept a column name from a web application. The stored procedure will use the @SortColumn to sort the results of the query. I'm receiving ambiguous column errors when the column values are passed in
to the query. The original query is written using dynamic sql but I created a simple query to reproduce the issue. Can someone review the sample below and let me know if there is a way to resolve the error.
In the example below, the Over(Order by Emp_ID) section is causing the error. The order by is expecting e.Emp_ID as the order by value. Is there anyway for me to rewrite the logic to allow the correct column alias to be using in the order by statement?
Ultimately, I would like to pass in a paramter for the order by column. Ex. Over(Order by ' + @SortColunm + '
SELECT RowNum
,Emp_ID
,First_Name
,Last_Name
From (Select Distinct ROW_NUMBER() OVER(Order by Emp_ID) as RowNum,
e.Emp_ID as Emp_ID
,e.First_Name as First_Name
,e.Last_Name as Last_Name
FROM Employee e
LEFT OUTER JOIN Team t ON e.team_id = t.team_Id AND e.Emp_id = t.Emp_Id
LEFT OUTER JOIN AccrualType at ON e.Accrual_Type = at.Type
LEFT OUTER JOIN ClosingProcess cp ON e.Emp_id = cp.Emp_ID
where Last_Name like 's%'
) As Employees
order by Emp_IDI've updated my query to use a cte and also included the Row_Number logic. I'm now receiving "Invalid column name 'RowNum". Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong in the code below? I'm trying to create a stored procedure
that accepts a parameter to handle paging and sorting. The dynamic sql is needed for the SortExpression.
declare @SortExpression varchar(50) = 'Last_Name';
declare @DynSql varchar(max)='';
declare @Emp_ID NVARCHAR(50) = NULL
declare @First_Name VARCHAR(50) = NULL
declare @Last_Name VARCHAR(50) = 's'
declare @StartIndex INT
declare @MaximumRows INT
set @DynSql=
With Employees as
( Select Distinct
e.Emp_ID as Emp_ID
,First_Name
,Last_Name
FROM Employee e
LEFT OUTER JOIN Team t ON e.team_id = t.team_Id AND e.Emp_id = t.Emp_Id
LEFT OUTER JOIN AccrualType at ON e.Accrual_Type = at.Type
LEFT OUTER JOIN ClosingProcess cp ON e.Emp_id = cp.Emp_ID
SELECT ROW_NUMBER() Over (Order By ' + @SortExpression + ') As RowNum,
Emp_ID
,First_Name
,Last_Name
FROM Employees
WHERE RowNum BETWEEN ' + CAST(@StartIndex as varchar(10)) + ' AND ' + '(' + CAST(@StartIndex as varchar(10))+ CAST(@MaximumRows as varchar(10))+ ') - 1 '
If @Emp_ID is not null
Set @DynSql = @DynSql + ' And (Emp_ID = @Emp_ID)'
If @First_Name is not null
Set @DynSql = @DynSql + ' And (First_Name = @First_Name)'
If @Last_Name is not null
Set @DynSql = @DynSql + ' And (Last_Name = @Last_Name)'
exec (@DynSql)
