Dynamic border for JToolbar buttons

Hi,
How can I make the border appear on a JButton within a JToolbar dynamically when the mouse is moved over the button and make the border dissapear when the mouse is moved away from the button?

but this property is look and feel sensitive. This works with metal laf.

Dynamic Text preparation for Command button in ADF (Tr component)

We have one command link and our requirement is to preapre the command button text dynamicaly .?
Details are givin below :
I need to get the button text value form the UCMS file based on the dynamic preparation .
The key value of UCMS is "setupfamily_group_1-8FAM4".
In the above mentioned key value the part 1 is "*setupfamily_group*_" is static text and part 2 "*1-8FAM4*" is dynamic which i will get throuth the List of Objects.
i.e managedServices.product.productId. here managedSercies is varible contains the Objects from the list.
please let me know how to append the part1 and part 2 as mentioned above in Command button text field ?

We have tried with above both options .its issues not resolved .
for the first one we are getting the compile time error
and for the second option ,when we run the dynamic value its self printing in the JSF .
We are trying to prepare the command button text as some part dynamically and some part static and its will act as key in the XML and get the corresponding value from the UCMS .

Dynamic-actions/expressions for Radio button in VC

Hi,
I would like to know whether dynamic actions for radio-buttons are possible in VC??
I have a situation where, i have to display/hide an input-field according to the radio-button that i select.
Is this possible in VC??
Because, i do not find any place where i can write expressions for a radio-button so that it can take actions accordingly.

Here is the sample code for this.
tables : kna1.
parameters : chk1 radiobutton group g1 user-command abc,
chk2 radiobutton group g1.
parameters : chk3 type kunnr.
at selection-screen output.
loop at screen.
if chk1 = 'x' and screen-name = chk3.
chk3-active = '0'.
endif.

In this way you can hide a input-field on the screen.

Agentry - Dynamic text for Platform wizard button?

Hi,
I want to reuse the same screen set navigating from 2 different places.
The text for the "Move to the Next Screen (cannot back up) platform wizard button should be different in each case to make it easier to understand for the end user. Apparently the only option is to hardcode a text, but I would like to know if it could be possible to use a rule or something to display a dynamic text for the wizard button.

Unfortunately that idea was shot down a while ago, though it would be nice. The general dividing rule I use is if the question is appropriate for Agentry regardless of whether it is installed standalone (like Work Manager 5.3) or on any version of SMP, then it should be in SAP for Mobile. These are usually application development or customization types of questions. The Agentry landing page is in SAP for Mobile for that reason. Though the line is definitely getting blurry now that Agentry apps are moved or moving to the SMP.
If the question relates to Agentry issues which directly involve SMP (usually installation, implementation, or configuration), then it should be in SAP Mobile Platform Developer Center.
I am planning to put together a blog or several to help go through where and why different posts should be placed. Also one about tagging!

Dynamic actions for buttons

hi all ,
i am new to apex ,
i want to create a button , then create a dynamic action to it to do an action , but when i create the button , then go to
create a dynamic action , i see the a lot of events but when i go to pick an item to create the dynamic action for , i do not see the buttons created ?

I see. Your local install of Apex is version 4.0, apperantly it is not supported to create a dynamic action that is triggered by a button.
You can, with some effort, create a dynamic action on a button. You'll need to create a button with 'Button Style' set to 'HTML button' and add a custom class or id to that button under the 'Button Attributes'. For example:

Then create a dynamic action, choose 'jQuery selector' as selection type and then use the class or the id of the button as selector. The outcome should look something like this:

[Feature Request] Better support for new buttons in JUNavigationBar

In my project I use a home made sub-class of JUNavigationBar, which contains some new functionality apart from a new button as well. This button allows me to refresh the currently selected row.
However, since I added this button though a simple this.add(), some of the functionality in JUNavigationBar may get confused.
For example, when I have removed some of the standard buttons but left my own button in place (setHasXXX()), the component index (calculated in JToolBar) and the array index for the buttons in JUNavigationBar may not match. This occasionally causes an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.
In short, what I'm asking for, is a better way to manage buttons on JUNavigationBar. Even making the array of buttons and related methods and such protected in stead of private (so that my sub-class could handle it) would be a good start.

I had a similar issue with trying to create a Nav bar with dynamic content. My solution was to leave all the standard buttons in place and to use setVisible(x) to make them appear or not as required.
BTW have you noticed that rollover behaviour isn't consistant ie works for FIRST/LAST etc but not for FIND/QUERY.

How to preserve special characters in dynamic textfield for text comparison?

The problem is as follows:
Since I mostly develop for multiple languages I am forced to have dynamic textfields in my buttons which contain three lines (to account for the differnt text.lengths in different languages).
I then populate the textfields with strings out of an array or xml and use the textfields contents later in my button class to execute different code depending on the textfields content.
This works fine as long as I don`t use any special characters, like for example "\n".

shows the right thing in the button label (breaks the text were I want it)

but that`s obviously ugly to setUp and requires a lot of trial/error to get it right for all languages.
Any ideas how to bypass that?

Weird enough spelling the problem out and getting this response from you cleared my head and I finally got an easy solution.
I simply attach a dynamic property to the movieclip, copy the array contents into them and instead of using the text-property for comparison I compare the MovieClips fresh created spectext property.
Voila: Now I can be lazy without too much of a bad conscience.

How can I make a default border for a JWindow?

I have a JWindow object that is created when a button is pressed in a JFrame. I want the JWindow to have the same type of border as the JFrame from which it's created. However, the JWindow is not created automatically with a border as the JFrame is, so I don't know how to set the border abstractly so that whatever border is used for the JFrame, per he default L&F, will also be used for the JWindow.
I tried grabbing the border object from the JFame instance itself, but there is no such field in JFrame or any of its ancestor classes. I looked at UIDefaults, but I have no idea how this class can be used to get what I want. For example, if I use UIDefaults.getBorder(Object obj), what do I specify for the argument?
I'd be happy with an abstract or a concrete solution. That is, either using the default Border for top level containers in the current L&F, or by grabbing an actual Border instance from a JFrame object.

Also, I'm curious why you said that JFrame is not a swing component.A Swing component extends JComponent. Basically this means that all the painting of the component is done in Java. You can add Borders to any Swing component. It is called a light weight component. A light weight component cannot exist by itself on the window desktop.
JFrame, JDialog and JWindow are top level components. They can exist on their own on the windows desktop because essentially they are Windows native components. They have been fancied up to make it easy for you to access and add other Swing components to it which is why they are found in the swing package.
A Windows border is not the same thing as a Swing Border and there is no way to access the native windows border and use it in a Swing application (that I know of anyway). Swing Borders are not used in a normal JFrame, the Windows border is used. You can however, turn off the use of Windows decorations and use Swing painted decorations. Read the tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/frame.html#setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated]Specifying Windows Decorations. However, this doesn't really help you with your Border problem. If you look at the source code for the FrameBorder, you will find that the "blue" color of the Border is only painted for "active" windows and a JWindow can never be the active window, only the parent JFrame or JDialog is considered active.

'services for object' button - menu items have to be grayed out

Hi All,
in Ecc6.0, in IW32 tcode, left to the title bar there is an icon 'Services for Object' using which we can create new atatchments.
My requirement is, based on a screen field value, that creating attachment and other options have to be grayed out.
I am not able to find the function code for the 'Services for Object' button in se41.
Please help in solving this.

When I checked it in debugging mode, the Function codes are getting generated dynamically.
the other thing is, even in IW33, the 'Display Orders' transactoin also, this button options are in enable mode.
Can any one tell me is it possible in IW32 to disable the GUI status for the menuitems which we get by selecting the 'Services to Object' button.

Is it possible to handle multiple events using Jscript for a button in Apex

Hi,
I've application wherein in one of the pages for a button, I need to trigger 2 events as: 1. redirect to a new page upon 'click' of the button
2. display a set of values on 'mouse over' that button.
I'm able to handle both separately, but not in one button. I would like to know if there is any limitation in Apex that we cant handle multiple events? Currently I've put a text item near the button, and called the Jscript for mouse over event in that as a temporary workaround. Can someone let me know if this is feasible? If not any other alternative to handle this?

well interesting problem you're facinng. Indeed, it can't be specified using the 'Button Attributes' So we have to come up with an workaround.
A quick en dirty solution would be to specify it with the 'Optional URL Redirect options'. In a normal button, with processing on same page, this would be 'no target'. but in case of additional things to be done this can be used, using an target URL. I used this many times, in example with popUp windows for refreshing the caller object when changes are made. In your case we have to add next to the href an onmouseover event. this can be done with;
Target set to => URL
URL - target => javascript:doSubmit('<button_name>');" onMouseOver="javascript:showTooltip('tooltip');"
Here the " is the key, letting ApEx know the target (href) is doSubmit('<button_name>'), just like when no target would be specified and adding a new javascript event; onMouseOver.
Although this is a dirty solution in my opinion, it is the best i could come up with. I have another idea in how to do this, that is by adding this event dynamically with javascript with an addEvent. But i don't have an example at the moment for this scenario.

Dynamic variant for select option High value

Hi ,
Please help me in creating dynamic variable for a select option date field high value.
II tried the following method:
1. Enter the values in the selection screen
2. Save the variant using the SAVE button
3. In the next screen for the date variable select the 'Selection variable' checkbox (L) and click on the button 'Selection variable' in the toolbar.
4. Now you will see this variable in the next screen with 3 types of buttons. Click on the middle button (i.e. D - Dynamic date calculation).
5. Click on the down arrow button and select the option 'Current Date'.
5. Save the variant.
But it is saving the date value in Field LOW of select option( From value).
I need it in TO field( High value).
Please help.

we can do it other way .. Select the same steps as you have done but after the assigning the value current date to low ..click on the selection option push button at the application bar and choose the 'less than or equal to' option to your select option value and try the same ....
I guess this would throw you same results as that of the value in the high value button

Dynamic table with radio buttons

I need to load a dynamic table with radio buttons that allow
the user to select an item in the table. I need to have it add a
radio button with a unique identifier for each table item.
For example: the table will load all of the seminars
locations available in a certain state, the radio button will allow
the user to select the city in which they would like to attend and
that value will get passed to the registration page. The value of
each radio button would be equal to the location_id in the database
for each of the locations in the table (The table includes the
date, day, venue, address, hotel info, etc. details for each city.)
When I add dynamic radio buttons and set the value to the
location_id in the database, it allows the user to select multiple
radio buttons. I cannot find any information on how to
resolve.....??

Give each radio button the same name

Dynamic Variant for Report

How to put current date in report output through variants.
I should not use events, when user selects variants then i should place the current date in my selection-screen.

U have to create a dynamic variant for this.
Fallow these steps.
1. Fill all the selection screen values including date(Current date).
2. Save it as variant(ctrl+S), give variant name and description.
3. In the same screen u can see some check boxes corrosponding to each selection screen parameter.
Now for the date field select the check box under
L Selection variable and then press the push button selection variables in the tool bar.
4. Now u will get the date range in the next screen.
5. Here press the yellow light under D, it will become green colour.
5. Next press drop down(Small arrow pointing down at the end of date)
6. Now u will get a list of options for calculations.
7. Here select current date.
8. Now save the variant.
This completes setting up of dynamic variant.
Now when ever u select this variant it will populate the selection screen with current date and remaining fields with the data u save while creating the variant.

Substitution For Region, Button and Tab

We are building a general security table with groups of users(LDAP, Banner etc.) and what they can access in APEX. The table will be accessed from a custom function in Authorization schemes in any application or workspace in order to control security all in one location. I want to create 5 generic authorization schemes-one for applications, pages, regions, tabs and buttons that call this function with the appropriate parameters. This is easy in the case of the application and page eg. Security_Function(app_id=>:APP_ID, app_user=>:APP_USER , app_object_type=>='Page', app_object=>:APP_PAGE_ID).
If the authorization scheme is applied to a region, button or tab, is there a way to reference dynamically the current region, button or tab ( in the same way it can be done for the page) in order to make the authorization scheme dynamic and generic?

Why can access the dynamic textField inside a Button?

yep, I have another problem
I create a button in the library, it has a background graphic
on a layer and a textField, the textField has a instance name
defined in the properties panels and some text. I manually place
some instance of the button on stage, I give them different
instance names and voilà a new problem arise
when with actionscript I try to assign a new text to the
textField inside a button it throws me error 1119. A quick look at
the menu option debug ->list objects, shows me that the instance
name of the textField inside the button it is not what I defined
but it was replaced with some random name like "instance66"
I did a test with a movieclip instead of a button and I can
correctly access my textField with the instance name that I
manually defined.
Why that can be the same with the button? And if for some
arcane reason cant be possible to access a manually defined
instance inside a button WHY flash give me the possibility to give
an instance name to a dynamic textField inside a button?

Buttons simply do not have the same properties and methods
that movieclips have. Anytime you want to create a button that has
anything beyond the simple 3 states of activity, use a movieclip.
I can't answer why flash allows you to give an instance name
to the textfield, but in any case, it won't allow you to use
it.
