Dynamic Calls to Functions

Hi can someone please tell me why this isn't working. im
dynamically loading a list of mp3's and when i click on them i want
to play the mp3 that i clicked on (this is the thisRow.onRelease
function), but it says that the "this.filename" property is
undefined, but it is defined when i trace it. all help much
appreciated, thanks

yeah - here's the deal. when the loop propagates the buttons,
it uses i to grab the data from the array index, however once the
loop completes - only the 'final' value is available (if at all) so
when in the onRelease i no longer represents the correct index. in
order to 'keep' that information for later use you must 'store' the
value of i as a property of the instance. so create a new property
in the list like:
thisRow.id = i;
then refer to it in the handler as in:
thisRow.onRelease = function() {
filename = songArr[this.id][0];
loadSong(this);
rowActive(this);
you also may want to consider two other things:
1) within a handler the keyword 'this' is 'local' to the
object so loadSong(this) may not function properly
2)you may have better results in keeping your buttons
organized and 'separate' if you use a dynamic naming throughout the
loop as is:
this['thisRow'+i] = ...

  • Dynamically call different functions inside a function

    Hi there,
    I was wondering if it is possible to dynamically define the function that you want to call. Almost like passing the function name that i want to call as a parameter.
    I am calling a function, but do not want to hardcode the function I am calling. I have different functions that all return a boolean value, and i want to call all of them at different times through the same procedure/function.
    Is this possible???
    Thank you in advance!
    Tanja

    Or combine your functions to use function overloading, then you can use the same name...

  • Dynamic calling of Function Modules

    Hi,
    I have the requirement that I have to call the Function Modules dynamcally in my program. i m creating 9 function modules in my developemt  and I m maintaining all this function modules in one of the custom table I m creating whicth the part of development please help me.
    Thanks&Regards
    Uday Kiran

    Hi Suhas,
    The reference types will not be applicable as you said,
    what i think is the abap_func_parmbind in type pool abap is use.
    just by appending all the signatures into it
    and the passing it to a fm created.
    check the standard include LV69AF21, how the fm's PRICING_SUBSCREEN_PBO and PRICING_SUBSCREEN_PAI gets called.
    The signatures in each fm are different.

  • Dynamic call to Function module.

    Hi
    In one of the program, we have found a FM ' rfc_update_taxes_doc', and which does not has any code,
    but what i think that this Fm is called dynamically from some prog and is calling external system.
    As it has 'targt server' in importing parameters.
    So can anybody tell me if this is the way we call to External system.
    And please if anyone can tell me the real meaning of calling a Fm dynamically.
    Please dont provide links.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Manu,
    You can try with this example. I connect Bussiness system with R/3 system,  because I need  R/3 table in Bw system.
    IF SY-SYSID EQ 'BWD'. "SYSID = Name sap system
        D_DESTINATION = 'DESD47020'.
      ELSEIF SY-SYSID EQ 'BWC'.
        D_DESTINATION = 'DESW47420'.
      ELSEIF SY-SYSID EQ 'BWP'.
        D_DESTINATION = 'DESP47420'.
      ENDIF.
      CAMPOS-FIELDNAME = 'MANDT'.
      CAMPOS-OFFSET = '000000'.
      CAMPOS-LENGTH = '000003'.
      CAMPOS-FIELDTEXT = 'Mandant'.
      APPEND CAMPOS.
      CLEAR CAMPOS.

    About the real meaning of calling a FM dynamically could be something like that because
    you can generate the call dynamically to just call with the needed parameters (you can change
    the parameters).
    types: begin of s_codigo,
    Lines type string,
              End of s_codigo.
    Data: it_codigo type standard table of s_codigo with header line.
    APPEND 'Title.' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'form Calculate_sum.' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'call function ''RFC FUNCTION ''' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'destination ''D_DESTINATION''' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'exporting PARAM1 = ''2''' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'PARAM2 = IT_TABLE ' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'importing PARAM_I1 = RESULT.' TO it_codigo.
    APPEND 'endform.' TO it_codigo.
    DATA prog_name LIKE sy-cprog.
    DATA resultado(1) TYPE c.
    GENERATE SUBROUTINE POOL it_codigo NAME prog_name.
    PERFORM Calculate_sum IN PROGRAM (prog_name) CHANGING nok.

  • Dynamically catch a function call from an object at runtime

    Hi,
    I have a bit of an interesting question.
    Say I have a dynamic object named Foo. It may have a set of explicitly defined functions:
    public function helloWorld():String
         return "hello world";
    public function get name():String
         return "My Name";
    etc.
    I want to be able to create a further function
    public function handleFunctionCall(functionCall:String, args:Array):*
         trace("Function: " + functionCall + " was called with the arguments:");
         for(var i:int=0; i<args.length; i++)
              trace(args[i]);
    The purpose of this is so that I can declare the object Foo and then call any function and handle it accordingly at runtime.
    e.g.
    var foo:Foo=new Foo();
    foo.bar();
    foo.whathaveyou();
    foo.whatever();
    Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

    I'd be interested to know more about what you are trying to achieve, but the code below should work:
    public function handleFunctionCall( functionName : String, args : Array ) : *
       var functionToCall : Function = this[ functionName ];
       return functionToCall.call( this, args );
    For alternative approaches you may want to take a look at behavioural design patterns. The command or strategy pattern may suit your needs.

  • How to call a function module dynamically?

    Hi
    I am doing a smartform development and here my scenario.
    <b>Scenario:</b>
    There will be a simple report which will trigger a smartform output. The report has a selection screen and and in one of the field the user will enter the layout name or the layout name will be stored in the variant so that the user need not remember the layout name.
    Based on the layout selected i need to show the output.
    <b>What i have coded:</b>
    In my program after selecting the data i am calling the FM SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME which will return the function module name to be called.
    <b>Question:</b>
    How do i call the function module dynamically. I cannot do a single call to the function module using the FM name derived from the above function call. I want to make the interface calling dynamic. We dont want to hardcode the function calls coz we may have many layouts to be called so how is it possible in SAP to call the FM interface dynamically.
    ~Suresh

    Actually you can call the FM dynamically in by taking it into one variable and than use the CALL FUNCTION V_FM_NAME.
    But the problem here is, you need to take care about the importing, exporting and tables parameters. They needs to be same for all FMs which you are planning to call. Otherwise system will give you a run time error.
       CALL FUNCTION 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'

  • Call javascript function dynamically

    Can this be done to call Javascript function dynamically? What I mean is suppose I use Javascript to submit form and target the reply to a popup window:
      function cForm() {
         win=window.open('','myWin','toolbars=0');
         document.aForm.q.value='12345';
         document.aForm.target='myWin';
         document.aForm.submit();
      }I target the form reply to popup window myWin. Suppose the reply body contains some Javascript function doX(). Is it possible to call doX() automatically, after the submit and the reply is loaded on myWin, maybe using some onload event in the popup window?

    On the PopUo Windows BODY onLoad, call the method doX()

  • Calling Package Function dynamically using Forms_DDL

    I am trying to write a validation trigger which will validate entries within a text field. It will call a packaged function based on an entry within the Rule form field. As the data within the text field will vary (sometimes numeric, date, text etc), the validation function will also vary accordingly. Example details are shown below (this example will force the entry of a Y or an N):
    FORM FIELDS
    ARG_DEFAULT1 X (This is the parameter to be submitted to the function)
    RULE1 VAL_CHK_0001 (Function to be called).
    FUNCTION CODE
    FUNCTION VAL_CHK_0001 (P1 VARCHAR2) RETURN NUMBER IS
    SQL_RESULT NUMBER;
    ALERT_ID ALERT;
    ALERT_OK NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    IF UPPER(P1) NOT IN ('Y', 'N') THEN
    :GLOBAL.MSG := 'You must enter either "Y" for Yes or "N" for No - please re-enter';
    SQL_RESULT := '1';
    ALERT_ID := FIND_ALERT('VAL_ERROR_ALT');
    SET_ALERT_PROPERTY(ALERT_ID, TITLE, 'Validation Error');
    SET_ALERT_PROPERTY(ALERT_ID, ALERT_MESSAGE_TEXT, :global.msg);
    ALERT_OK := SHOW_ALERT(ALERT_ID);
    RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
    RETURN SQL_RESULT;
    ELSE
    SQL_RESULT := '0';
    RETURN SQL_RESULT;
    END IF;
    END VAL_CHK_0001;
    VALIDATION TRIGGER CODE (CURRENT)
    DECLARE
    PKG_RUN VARCHAR2(200);
    BEGIN
    IF :PARAMETER_BK.RULE1 IS NOT NULL THEN
    PKG_RUN := ENV_VALIDATE_PKG.VAL_CHK_0001(:PARAMETER_BK.ARG_DEFAULT1)):
    FORMS_DDL(PKG_RUN);
    END IF;
    END;
    When the Rule1 field data is hard coded in (as shown above), it all runs fine and the Alert box is displayed as expected.
    I need the function name to refer to the rule1 parameter (and not a specific value) as shown below:
    PKG_RUN := 'ENV_VALIDATE_PKG.'||:PARAMETER_BK.RULE1||'('||:PARAMETER_BK.ARG_DEFAULT1||')';
    The form compiles without any errors but when the trigger runs, it completely ignores the Forms_ddl call and does nothing.
    I have hunted through this forum, Metalink, Ask Tom etc and have had no success in finding any solution. I have followed the instructions within NOTE:1017160.6 (How to programmatically call a procedure or function using Oracle Forms) which has got me this far. Nothing that I have read so far has suggested that what I am attempting to do is impossible.
    We are using Oracle Forms 10G with an Oracle 9.0.4 database.
    Any suggestions or advice will be greatly received!
    Thanks

    Like the others have said, Forms_DDL is a one-way street. You can only pass values to it, nothing can be returned. But you could probably get Forms_DDL to work if you wrote your validations as stored procedures that had only IN parameters. Then if the edit ran ok, just terminate normally, but if there is an edit error, to a Raise_application_error.
    Then you could use Forms_DDL to call the procedure, and check for Form_Success after the call. If it failed, you might be able to retrieve the error message from the Raise_application_error by checking SQLERRM. But that is completely untested, so I do not know whether it would work.
    The more sure method would be to call a package procedure on the database that calls Execute_Immediate, and then returns the result back to the calling form.
    Now a little advice: For generic routines such as this, pass dates and numbers as text, and you could cut down on the number of procedures you need to create and use.
    And last note: Do NOT define numeric variables, like SQL_Result, and then set the value using quotes. You are forcing the PL/SQL process to convert text to number. Always set numeric values like this:
    SQL_Result := 1;
    Now the question I am almost afraid to ask: What problem are you solving by creating these generic edit routines? I am wondering if you could just as easily write simple edit processes faster. ...the only way to completely parameterize editing would be to call a process on the database for each column value, passing the column name and value.

  • Calling JS function in pl/sql process

    Hello!
    I have a js function defined in 'HTML Header' :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function disp_alert()
    alert("Data is invalid! Correct the data and click CONFIRM again.")
    </script>
    I also have a pl/sql process on this page. I want to call disp_alert function in a following way:
    if ... then call function
    else dbms_output.put_line('...');
    end if;
    How can I call this js function in 'if'??
    Tom

    There ARE ways to accomplish something like this, but they're much more complex.
    You must create a JavaScript that uses APEX's built in AJAX components; a form button will call the JavaScript, which will in turn call a PL/SQL procedure saved as an "On Demance Shared Application Process." This procedure can run any checks you like against the DB, and return data to the Javascript to display in an alert.
    You can see an example of this in use at an APEX page I created: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=19864:5
    This isn't the same thing, but is accomplishing what it does through an APEX form, a javascript call on the text field to a PL/SQL Process that returns rows from the database dynamically...thus allowing the client side JavaScript to call server side PL/SQL.

  • Can one call a function module in Calculated Key Figure?

    Can one call a function module in Calculated Key Figure? If  yes how, if not, what is the solution if formula does not suffice?
    I want to convert duration which is in seconds to   Duration in Hours and Minutes. There is a function module for doing it. Not sure how to do it in a formula.

    One option you have is a Virtual Key Figure and User Exit to use the Function Module to convert the time from seconds to HH:MM. Here are two documents on this subject to help you create them, based on the technology your comfortable with:

That dynamic code is 99% of the time wrong. That dynamic code opens securities hole for code injection. That dynamic code often results in severe performance penalties as the coder is clueless about what the Oracle Shared Pool is about. And so on...
    As for a basic procedure template to do this - assuming all functions get the same parameter as input and that all functions returns the same data type:
    create or replace procedure FooBarFunctions( paramVal number ) is
      .. variables and types and cursor definitions..
    begin
      for c in (
        select function_name from my_fubar_functions order by function_order
      ) loop
          plsqlBlock := 'begin :result := '||c.function_name||'( param => :p ); end;';
          execute immediate plsqlBlock using out funcResult, in paramVal;
          .. do something with funcResult ..
      end loop;
      .. more code..
    end;
    {code}
    Looks not like a sensible approach though - and begs for justification as to why this approach is needed. What justification do you have?

  • Dynamic call of a vi with a reference stored in a global variable

    Hello,
    I am trying to program a VI which calls DAQmx functions in some cases, in other cases DAQmx may not even be installed. To prevent a broken arrow on machines where DAQmx is not installed, I want to use a sub-VI containing the DAQmx function calls which is called dynamically by a main VI. For speed I want to prevent continuous opening and closing the VI reference, so I want to store the reference to the sub VI in a global variable. In this variable I also want to store the Analog Input Task. I want to use an initialization VI to write the VI reference of the sub VI and to configure and start the Analog Input Task and write the Task ID to that Global, too. In that way I was hoping to be able to improve the performance of the dynamic calls and the Task calls. BUT - when I write the refererence and task to the Global and read it out from another VI, the reference is not valid anymore and the Analog Input task is also not valid, even if both the initialization VI and the Global are still open (but not running). Does somebody have an idea how to solve that? It is a bit difficult to describe, so here is what I want to do in a shorter description :
    - run a initialization VI which
      defines a reference to a sub VI which will be called dynamically later on
      and a AI task ID definining a DAQmx physical channel configuration to use for subsequent read cycles
      and writes both (VI reference and AI task) to a global variable
    - run another VI which
      reads the VI reference of the VI to call dynamically from that global
      runs the corresponding VI dynamically
      the dynamically called VI performs an AI task corresponding to the DAQmx task ID read from that global (it reads an analog value for instance from the
      physical channel configured by that AI task)
    Why all that? To prevent creating and destroying the VI reference for each call of the sub VI for speed. And to use the configured DAQmx channel for subsequent read tasks only if the subVI is called dynamically - if it is not, then the application will not see the DAQmx calls and therefore no broken arrow will occur if no DAQmx is installed on the machine.
    Can somebody help me with this? Why can't I store and read out the reference to the sub VI to/from a global, and why is the AI task not valid when read out from the dynamically called sub VI? I am somewhat lost with all that...
    Thanks in advance,
    Gabs

    Uh - I am almost getting crazy with that
    Kevin, that solution is the right one for programming an application. In that case everything will work fine. But during testing, it is more convenient to call all VIs from their front panels one after another. That's how I'm doing it for everything that needs to be exchanged between such VIs: store them either in a global or in a functional global variable. In that way the user can "play around" with the VIs without wiring them together in a main VI. Therefore, after some thinking I liked Davids idea with that daemon VI (I solved that by adding a boolean in the initialization VI to choose if that daemon is necessary - during testing phase - or not - when using the VIs in a main application). BUT:
    David: It does not work!!! I have exactly done what you proposed and this daemon VI is really running, having a True/False frame with a constant of False wired to the selector and holding both the functional global and the dynamically to call VI in the True frame. In that way, after initialization is finished, both VIs are still running but idle. Anyway, when I read back the value of the reference or the DAQmx task, it is invalid again!
    That really costs just too much time. Does anybody have any idea what to do now? David, I was hoping that your suggestion would solve the problem, because it would be logical that it would - why then is LabVIEW destroying the reference and task anyway even if that daemon VI containing the functional global is still running???

  • Call Java functions in a C DLL

    Hi,
    I am develop a dynamic link library in C on AIX that will internally call java functions using JNI. This libaray will be finally used by other C Executable.
    There is only one function in C code i.e. Connect. This function internally use JNI and call java functions. Now while compiling I am facing problems. I think that there is some problem with my makefile.
    The make file is given hereunder:
    JAVA_HOME = /usr/java14
    JAVA_INC = $(JAVA_HOME)/include
    CC = cc
    LD = cc
    # Flags to create a dynamic library.
    DYNLINKFLAGS =  -G -ostdlib -bnoentry -bM:SRE -brtl -bE:Interface.exp
    # files removal
    RM = rm -f
    #------------------------------------- Libs -----------------------------------#
    JAVALIBS      = -L$(JAVA_HOME)/jre/bin/classic/
    LIBS            = -ljvm -lpthread  -lxnet -lnsl -lm -ldl
    #-------------------------------- Dependency rules---------------------------#
    # shared library files
    LIB_FILES = Interface.a
    #-------------------------------------OBJs-------------------------------------#
    # shared libraries object files
    LIB_OBJS    = Interface.o
    all: $(LIB_FILES)
    # create our librarys
    Interface.a: Interface.o
         $(LD) $(DYNLINKFLAGS) $(JAVALIBS) $(LIBS) $(LIB_OBJS) -o $@
    # compile C source files into object files.
    %.o: %.c
         $(CC) $(DYNLINKFLAGS) -L$(JAVA_INC) -c $<
    # clean everything
    clean:
         $(RM) $(LIB_OBJS) $(LIB_FILES)
    # clean the library's object files only
    cleanlibobjs:
         $(RM) $(LIB_OBJS)Now the problem is that the size of the Interface.a file is very small only 552 bytes. whereas the size of Interface.o file is 34428. Which clearly indicates that the problem is with the Interface.a file i.e during linking.
    Can any body help me to figure out the problem.

    I guess, you are better off to ask this question in a C forum. This is a Java forum, you know.

  • Call remote function on a satellite system using RFC target sys option

    Hi all,
    I am on the Java stack and I would like to call the ABAP stack of a statellite system. I can create a JCo connection on this system directly but for security reason I am not allowed to do that. I would like to call this system through the ABAP stack of my machine (I am in dual stack environment).
    - How can I use RFC target sys (available in SE37 for Remote-Enabled functions) with my JCo connection?
    - Or, is there a generic function which can call all other functions on a remote system (still using RFC target sys)?
    Many thanks,
    Stephan

    Siddhesh - thank you for the link; the blogs by Thomas are required reading as far as I am concerned.
    Hi Raja;
    <i> do you mean another ABAP system (was6.40)?
    and from here using another FM you call the 4.6c
    system RFC ?</i>
    Yes, that is what we are doing.  We are calling a web service from an Intranet form to the 6.40 system that, in turn will call the 4.6C system and pass the data back to the Intranet form (through 6.40)
    <i> may be you could pass the RFC destination as import
    parameter to the 6.40 RFC and use the same will the
    call to 4.6C RFC from the 6.40 RFC</i>
    That would work, but it would be more beneficial to just use the function module on the 6.40 system as a proxy to the function on 4.6c and not have to enter code in it each time.
    I had thought of writing just one function module in the 6.40 system that could dynamically call any different function module in 4.6c (based on the input parameters), but since were are trying to accomplish SOA, we need visiblity to each web service (ergo function module).
    If it's not possible, that is OK I am just hoping someone had found a way to pull this off.
    Thanks!
    John
