Dynamic classloading and incompatibleclasschangeerror

I have different versions of my applications like v1 v2 v3 and my current version is v4.
In my case, v4 might need to talk to v3, v2 or v1. To achevie that I need that same versions of classes from the respective versions of the applications i.e. I will make jars like v3.jar, v2.jar and v1.jar which will be loaded dynamically using my own custom class loaders. When v4 trying to access v3 it uses the classes using the classloader which loaded v3.jar
v4 contacts v3, v2, v1 through RMI.
Now the problem is when v4 is calling a remote method of v3 I am getting IncompatibleClassChangeError
I tried to recompile all the required classes in v3 and created a new v3.jar and I have loaded the same dynamically in v4. I also recompiled all the classes of v4, but still the result is same.
Both v3 classes and v4 classes are compiled using the same JRE version.
Can somebody help me to figure out what could be the issue.
Thanks

If you know that there is a constructor that takes,
for example, a single String argument you can use
something like this:
Class clazz = ...; // class to instantiate
String stringArg = ...; // argument to pass to constructor
Constructor c = clazz.getConstructor( new Class[] { String.class } );
Object value = c.newInstance( new Object[] { stringArg > } );
And even better, when JDK 1.5 is released, you'll be able to write:
    Class clazz = ...;
    String stringArg = ...;
    Constructor c = clazz.getConstructor(String.class);
    Object value = c.newInstance(stringArg);Geoff

  • Dynamic Classloading

    Hello all,
    Could someone tell me a practical way to setup dynamic classloading in an EJB app? I'd like to set it up such that all of the shared codebase is deployed within the same ear with the EJB application. Is this practical or does dynamic classloading require the use of an external web-server? Right now I am trying to use the rmi.server.codebase system property via the %JAVA_OPTS% env. variable on appserver start-up to point to a servlet deployed in a .war my .ear. What is the practical approach? Thanks in advance.
    Cliff

    Thank you crackers,
    You've cleared alot for me. So if I follow what you're saying then my problem boils down to how my client talks to the server. And the principles of EJB state that the communication details are left to the vendor. All I have to do then is get my home interface via JNDI. This assumes of course that the stubs are available on the client.
    Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to debate the advantages of EJB. I'm just trying to illustrate my dillemma and find a plausible solution. In my scenario I'm not really all that concerned with the transport layer (well I am concerned with the leaky abstractions therein but that's another story). I'm primarily concerned with versioning issues. I cannot maintain classes installed on the client as they could potentially fall out of date with the server. I need a dynamic classloading mechanism, which I thought would be provided with EJB as it is with RMI. I just naturally assumed it would be since EJB is typically (though not always, as you point out) layered always RMI. If you're saying that there is no such facility then I will have to find an alternative solution for my problem. You see I have no choice and I must concern myself with the underworkings of EJB as there are leaky abstractions within the technology. While it is a powerful technology it does not solve all of my problems. Also, I need to fill these holes in a vendor neutral way.

  • Dynamic ClassLoader

    Hi there,
    i am trying to program a dynamic classloader in Abap. by now i came this far:
    DATA classname TYPE string VALUE 'ZCL_TEST'.
    DATA dref TYPE REF TO data.
    DATA type_descr TYPE REF TO cl_abap_typedescr.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <ref> TYPE ANY.
    type_descr = cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_name( p_name = classname ).
    classname = type_descr->absolute_name.
    CREATE DATA dref TYPE REF TO (classname).
    ASSIGN dref->* TO <ref>.
    CREATE OBJECT <ref> TYPE (classname).
    dref->to_string( ). -----> ERROR
    The ClassLoading itselfs works perfectly, but now i don't know how to call a method of that class... Can't beliieve that i can instantiate a Class but not call a method?!?
    So has someone done it already and can point me the right way?
    Thanks
    Mathias

    I don't know what would be the use of creating the object with REF TO DATA and than assign it back to the variable REF TO OBJECT to be able to access the data.
    CREATE DATA dref TYPE REF TO
               ('\program=kellerh_test\interface=i1').
    Here you are creating the TYPE at runtime which is type referent to the Interface. You get the object reference to the Field-Symbol. But Since field-symbol is not allowing to access the attributes, we need to cast that into the variable TYPE REF TO OBJECT.
    Check this code:
    REPORT  ztest_np_1.
    INTERFACE i1.
      DATA: w_num TYPE i.
    ENDINTERFACE.                    "i1
    CLASS c1 DEFINITION.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
        INTERFACES i1.
    ENDCLASS.                    "c1 DEFINITION
    DATA dref TYPE REF TO data.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <ref> TYPE any.
    CREATE DATA dref TYPE REF TO
               ('\program=ZTEST_NP_1\interface=i1').
    ASSIGN dref->* TO <ref>.
    CREATE OBJECT <ref> TYPE c1.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <attr> TYPE ANY.
    DATA: lo_obj TYPE REF TO object.
    lo_obj ?= <ref>.
    ASSIGN lo_obj->('I1~W_NUM') TO <attr>.
    <attr> = 10.
    WRITE: 'Test'.

  • Dynamic classloading without default constructor

  • ClassLoader and ClassCastException

    ok, I have a Class named 'Lib' that I want to Load into the virtual machine from a file. I do this by extending ClassLoader and overloading the findClass() method to read the .class file through a FileInputStream.
    Everything is fine until I try casting the 'Lib' object to a 'Lib' type. For example, I can do a
    Object o = loadClass("Lib").newInstance();
    but I cannot do a
    Lib l = (Lib)loadClass("Lib").newInstance();
    This also raises a new question: if you load a class dynamically during the execution of the program, how do you assign it to a new reference type so that you can use it?(i.e how do you make the 'Lib' type if you don't import the class? Incidently, I do import it and it still won't cast the object.)
    I am making sure that the same class loader is loading all instances of the 'Lib' type, namely my(the extended) classloader, but it still won't let me cast. can anyone help??? thx.
    Karl

    Thanks for the comment Vlad. Here is the code I'm using, I verified that it is not being loaded by the bootstrap ClassLoader(default) as I moved it entirely out of the CLASSPATH.
    Class myClass extens ClassLoader{
    public void libInit(){
                            try{
                                            System.out.println("parent class loader: " + ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().toString());
                                            ClassLoader c = this.getClass().getClassLoader();
                                            System.out.println("this class loader: " + c.toString());
                                            Lib lib = (Lib)loadClass("Lib").newInstance();
                                            System.out.println("asserting Lib instance. " + lib.toString());
                                    }catch(Exception e){
                                            System.err.println("error2: " + e.toString() + "  " + e.getMessage());
                    public Class findClass(String name){
                            System.out.println("using my findClass()");
                            byte[] b = loadClassData(name);
                            return defineClass("Lib", b, 0, b.length);
                    final Class findLoadedClasses(String name){
                             return null;
                            byte[] b = null;
                            try{
                                    File f = new File("Libs","Lib.class");
                                    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
                                    int i = (int)f.length();
                                    b = new byte;
    System.out.println("boo " + i);
    fis.read(b,0,i);
    fis.close();
    }catch(Exception e){
    // Logger code goes here
    System.err.println("error1: " + e.getMessage());
    return b;
    The above fails on the cast from the newInstance() method. In the above code is the first place in the program where I even reference a 'Lib' type.
    Also, instead of using a 'Lib' type, how could I read a class file into a reference type? Is this what java.lang.ref is for? thanks.

  • Dynamically Create and Compile Java Classes

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to dynamically create and compile Java classes and would like some advice on the best method to do so.
    Basically the project I am working on involves creating "Factors". Factors are items that have both attributes and weights so for example Factor A could have attribute B with weight 0.76, and attribute C with weight 1.33. There are a number of methods common to all factors such as calculateTotal, identify etc etc.
    At the moment the application has 5 factors, but there is a requirement to dynamically add and remove factors on the fly.
    I current solution I have been considering is using XML to describe the new class, build up the class and compile it; something along the lines of what is descibed at
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-02-2002/jw-0201-xslt_p.html
    however i would like to consider all options.
    Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

    You want to dynamically create and compile Java classes.
    I would try the following:
    (1) Write the Source code of the new class into a text file with the name MyNewClass.java
    (2) compile this new .java-file with Runtime r = getRuntime();
    try {
        r.exec ("javac MyNewClass.java");
    } catch (IOException e) {
        System.out.println("ooops " + e.getMessage());
    } (3) somehow try to load that new class, maybe using ClassLoader cl = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader();
    cl.loadClass("MyNewClass");

    Any pointers in this regard will be great help?
    Thanks

    Hi Maksim,
    I've used your example and its now helping as there is kind of agreement on that I'll be knowing the structure of Xml and I can fill the nodes.
    But suppose if you have Xml has following structure :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><DATA>
    <item><MAILERID TYPE="C" SIZE="000030">21</MAILERID><ORG_CODE TYPE="C" SIZE="000004">1232</ORG_CODE><EVENTID TYPE="C" SIZE="000015">CONTRACT</EVENTID><SUBSCR_VALUE TYPE="C" SIZE="000001">0</SUBSCR_VALUE></item>
    <item><MAILERID TYPE="C" SIZE="000030">21</MAILERID><ORG_CODE TYPE="C" SIZE="000004">1232</ORG_CODE><EVENTID TYPE="C" SIZE="000015">CREDIT</EVENTID><SUBSCR_VALUE TYPE="C" SIZE="000001">0</SUBSCR_VALUE></item>
    <item><MAILERID TYPE="C" SIZE="000030">21</MAILERID><ORG_CODE TYPE="C" SIZE="000004">1232</ORG_CODE><EVENTID TYPE="C" SIZE="000015">EMPRESS</EVENTID><SUBSCR_VALUE TYPE="C" SIZE="000001">0</SUBSCR_VALUE></item>
    <item><MAILERID TYPE="C" SIZE="000030">21</MAILERID><ORG_CODE TYPE="C" SIZE="000004">1232</ORG_CODE><EVENTID TYPE="C" SIZE="000015">PAYMENT</EVENTID><SUBSCR_VALUE TYPE="C" SIZE="000001">0</SUBSCR_VALUE></item>
    <item><MAILERID TYPE="C" SIZE="000030">21</MAILERID><ORG_CODE TYPE="C" SIZE="000004">1232</ORG_CODE><EVENTID TYPE="C" SIZE="000015">PRICE</EVENTID><SUBSCR_VALUE TYPE="C" SIZE="000001">0</SUBSCR_VALUE></item>
    </DATA>
    How we will do in this case?
    Can we have something similar using DOM? Also what is the best method for displaying data being sent in form of XML. And generalize it for cases like this.

  • Dynamic SQL and Data with Single Quotes in it.

    Hi There,
    I have a problem in that I am using dynamic SQL and it happens that one of the columns does contain single quotes (') in it as part of the data. This causes the resultant dynamic SQL to get confused as the single quote that is part of the data is taken to mean end of sting, when in fact its part of the data. This leaves out a dangling single quote that was meant to enclose the string. Here is my dynamic SQL and the result of the parsed SQL that I have captured:
    ****Dynamic SQL*****
    l_sql:='select NOTE_TEMPLATE_ID '||
    'FROM TMP_NOTE_TEMPLATE_VALUES '||
    'where TRIM(LEGACY_NOTE_CODE)='''||trim(fp_note_code)||''' '||
    'and TRIM(DISPLAY_VALUE)='''||trim(fp_note_text)||''' ';
    execute immediate l_sql INTO l_note_template_id;
    Because the column DISPLAY_VALUE contains data with single quotes, the resultant SQL is:
    ******PARSED SQL************
    select NOTE_TEMPLATE_ID
    FROM TMP_NOTE_TEMPLATE_VALUES
    where TRIM(LEGACY_NOTE_CODE)='INQ' and TRIM(DISPLAY_VALUE)='Cont'd'
    And the problem lies with the single quote between teh characters t and d in the data field for DISPLAY_ITEM. How can I handle this?
    Many thanks,

    I have been reliably informed that if one doesn't enclose char/varchar2 data items in quotes, the right indices may not be usedI am into oracle for past 4 years and for the first time i am hearing this.
    Your reliable source is just wrong. Bind variables are variables that store your value and which are used in SQL. They are the proper way to use values in your SQL. By default all variables in PL/SQL is bind variable.
    When you can do some thing in just straight SQL just do it. Dynamic SQL does not make any sense to me here.
    Thanks,
    Karthick.

  • Dynamic SQL and Bulk Bind... Interesting Problem !!!

    Hi Forum !!
    I've got a very interesting problem involving Dynamic SQL and Bulk Bind. I really Hope you guys have some suggestions for me...
    Table A contains a column named TX_FORMULA. There are many strings holding expressions like '.3 * 2 + 1.5' or '(3.4 + 2) / .3', all well formed numeric formulas. I want to calculate each formula, finding the number obtained as a result of each calculation.
    I wrote something like this:
    DECLARE
    TYPE T_FormulasNum IS TABLE OF A.TX_FORMULA%TYPE
    INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
    TYPE T_MontoIndicador IS TABLE OF A.MT_NUMBER%TYPE
    INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
    V_FormulasNum T_FormulasNum;
    V_MontoIndicador T_MontoIndicador;
    BEGIN
    SELECT DISTINCT CD_INDICADOR,
    TX_FORMULA_NUMERICA
    BULK COLLECT INTO V_CodIndicador, V_FormulasNum
    FROM A;
    FORALL i IN V_FormulasNum.FIRST..V_FormulasNum.LAST
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
    'BEGIN
    :1 := TO_NUMBER(:2);
    END;'
    USING V_FormulasNum(i) RETURNING INTO V_MontoIndicador;
    END;
    But I'm getting the following messages:

    ORA-06550: line 18, column 5:
    PLS-00435: DML statement without BULK In-BIND cannot be used inside FORALL
    Any Idea to solve this problem ?
    Thanks in Advance !!

    Hallo,
    many many errors...
    1. You can use FORALL only in DML operators, in your case you must use simple FOR LOOP.
    2. You can use bind variables only in DML- Statements. In other statements you have to use literals (hard parsing).
    3. RETURNING INTO - Clause in appropriate , use instead of OUT variable.
    4. Remark: FOR I IN FIRST..LAST is not fully correct: if you haven't results, you get EXCEPTION NO_DATA_FOUND. Use Instead of 1..tab.count
    This code works.
    DECLARE

  • Dynamic SQL and Sub Query

    I want need to use dynamic SQL, and include a subquery in the where clause.  However, I am getting a syntax error.
    I have code that looks like this.
        SELECT (p_v_sqlobj_select)
            INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE <matrix>
          FROM (p_v_sqlobj_from)
          WHERE (p_v_sqlobj_where).
    and I pass it the following bold-faced SQL where clause (please ignore whether the statement makes sense and is the best way to do it - this is just to illustrate).   However, it returns an error.
    select tcode from tstc where tcode in <b>( select min( tcode ) as min from tstc )</b>
    Am I correct in concluding that I cannot pass complex statements, or have I just missed something?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
    Please try with order by clause in select statement and also use descending
          select * from (p_table)
                   into corresponding fields of table <ptab>
                  up to p_rows rows
                  order by <fieldname> descending.

    Hi Frank,
    I m trying to save entity and view object xml by calling writeXMLContents() and saveXMLContents() so that these objects can be retrieved using the xmls later on.
    These methods internally use MDS configuration in adf-config.xml, which is creating the issue.
    Please share your thoughts on resolving this or if, there is any other way of creating dynamic entity/view objects for db tables created at runtime.

  • Problem in tabular form based on dynamic view and pagination

    Hi All,
    I have a manual tabular form based on a dynamic view. The view fetches the records based on search criteria given by the user in all cases. But this view fetches ALL records when user clicks on pagination, without considering the search criteria. This is the problem I am facing.
    I am doing the following:
    Since tabular form does not support pl/sql function returning query, I cannot use a table directly. I need my results based on search criteria selected by user. Hence I created a dynamic view and used a "INSTEAD OF UPDATE" trigger to update the table.
    I use a set bind variables procedure, on load before header for setting the variables.
    This view fetches the correct data based on user search always. It creates a problem only in one situation, when using pagination in the report.
    The example can be found at:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=19399:1:
    username = [email protected]
    pwd = kishore
    Here if "manager name" is entered as test, we get 5 records in "Summary of requests" report and 5 records in "Inactive Requests" report. When user clicks on Pagination in any of the reports, ALL the 7 records get fetched in "Summary of Requests" and 6 records in "Inactive Requests". How can I overcome this problem?? The report must consider the search variables even when pagination occurs.
    Is this because, the inbuilt "html_PPR_Report_Page" executes the region query once again by considering all search variables as NULL?
    Backend Code is at:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/
    workspace: sekhar.nooney
    Username :[email protected]
    pwd: kishore
    application id = 19399
    My region code is something like:
    select *
    from regadm_request_v
    where access_type = :F110_REGADM
    and status <> 'INACTIVE'
    order by request_id
    My view code is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW REGADM_REQUEST_V
    AS
    SELECT *
    FROM REGREGOWNER.REGADM_REQUEST
    WHERE upper(employee_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEE_NAME),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(manager_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_MANAGER_NAME),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(employee_sunetid) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEE_SUNET_ID),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(manager_sunetid) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_MANAGER_SUNET_ID),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(request_date) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_REQUEST_DATE),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(USAGE_AGREEMENT_RECVD) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_USAGE_AGREMNT_RECVD,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_USAGE_AGREMNT_RECVD)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(STATUS) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_STATUS,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_STATUS)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(REQUEST_APPROVED) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_REQUEST_APPROVED,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_REQUEST_APPROVED)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(nvl(APPROVAL_DATE,sysdate)) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_APPROVED_DATE),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(APRVL_REQUEST_SENT) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMAIL_APPROVERS,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMAIL_APPROVERS)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(NOTIFY_APPROVED) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_APPROVAL_NOTIFICATION,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_APPROVAL_NOTIFICATION)),'%')||'%'
    I would be glad for any suggestions.
    Andy/Varad any ideas? You both helped me a lot on my problems for the same application that I had faced before in More Problems in Tabular form - Please give me suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Sumana

    Hi Andy,
    The view and the package for setting bind variables work properly in my entire application other than the pagination. A pity that I came across this only now :(
    I have used this same method for holding variables in another application before, where I needed to print to PDF. I used this approach in the other application because my queries were not within the APEX character limit specified for the "SQL Query of Report Query shared component".
    In this application, I initially had to fetch values from 2 tables and update the 2 tables. Updateable form works only with one table right? Hence I had created a view. Later the design got changed to include search and instead of changing the application design I just changed the view then. Still later, my clients merged the 2 tables. Once again I had just changed my view.
    Now, I wanted to know if any method was available for the pagination issue (using the view itself). Hence I posted this.
    But as you suggested, I think it is better to change the page design quickly (as it would be much easier).
    If I change the region query to use the table and the APEX bind parameters in the where clause as:
    SELECT *
    FROM REGADM_REQUEST
    WHERE upper(employee_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(:P1_EMPLOYEE_NAME),'%')||'%' .....
    I also changed the ApplyMRU to refer to the table.
    Here the pagination issue is resolved. But here the "last Update By" and "Last Update Date" columns do not get updated with "SYSDATE" and "v(APP_USER)" values, when update takes place. Even if I make the columns as readonly text field, I am not sure how I can ensure that SYSDATE and v('APP_uSER') can be passed to the columns. Any way I can ensure this? Please have a look at the issue here: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=19399:1:
    I have currently resolved the "last update" column issue by modifying my view as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW REGADM_REQUEST_V
    AS
    SELECT *
    FROM REGADM_REQUEST
    I modified my region query to use APEX bind parameters itself as:
    SELECT *
    FROM REGADM_REQUEST_V
    WHERE upper(employee_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(:P1_EMPLOYEE_NAME),'%')||'%' .....
    And I use the "INSTEAD OF UPDATE" trigger that I had initially written for update. The code is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER REGADM_REQUEST_UPD_TRG
    INSTEAD OF UPDATE
    ON REGADM_REQUEST_V
    REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    UPDATE REGREGOWNER.REGADM_REQUEST
    SET MANAGER_EMAIL = :NEW.MANAGER_EMAIL
    , EMPLOYEE_EMAIL = :NEW.EMPLOYEE_EMAIL
    , STATUS_UPDATE_DATETIME = SYSDATE
    , USER_UPDATE_ID = (SELECT v('APP_USER') FROM DUAL)
    WHERE REQUEST_ID = :OLD.REQUEST_ID;
    END;
    Please let me know how I can resolve the "last update" column issue using the table itself. (Just for my learning)
    Thanks,
    Sumana

  • How to pass values in dynamic structure and then dynamic table

    Hi,
    we have a Z structure in se11 holding 10 fields. But at run time i need to create a dynamic table with more than 10 records.
    I am able to create the structure and corresponding internal table. Now the issue is i have to populate this dynamic structure with some values and then append it to dynamic internal table. Since the dynamic  table type is any its not allowing an index operation like modify etc etc.
    Could anyone help me in passing the values . I have searched in SDN . everyone created a dynamic table and then populated it values from some standard or custom tables.Then assigning the component of structure  and displaying the output. but in my situation i have no such values stored in any tables. i populate values based on certain calculation.
