Dynamic Column Label

I have a dynamic report with REF Cursor query.
The SELECT clause is dynamic (different columns are selected, but always the same number of columns). I have a static ref cursor that returns a record (Field1, Field2, .. FieldN) and a dynamic refcursor that actually decides which fields are selected.
Because of my static ref cursor I can't use column aliases.
what should I do?

MIke,
Since your using your dynamic ref cursor to determine what fields are selected, it should be relatively easy to capture
the names you want to use as your column labels (assuming this is what your missing). If I understand properly, your
using the the dynamic ref cursor as your "parameter form" allowing the user to select which fields will be used on the
report. When the user selects the values, you should be able to capture and return these values in your query. For the
column labels, you could use fields instead of boilerplate and with the returned information from your query, it is just
a matter of sourcing your column lable fields.

  • How to create report with Fixed Labels and Dynamic Columns

    I have static column labels in left side of report and field in 3 columns coming dynamically from 3 different command queries.
    Please let me know how to create it..Following is the sample data for report.

    Following is the sample report. Left side lables are fixed.
    I tried using pivot table functionality, earlier discussed in the forum.
    But they are creating huge no.of records. As it will turn the rows into columns.
    Is there any way to get this report done normally.?

    Hello,

    Hi FourEyes;
    Try using this.

  • Dynamic field labels in table control

    Hi experts,
        My requirement is to display dynamic field labels in table control can we do this. I am much aware
    that we can do it in alv_grid. Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sri

    Hi Anubhab,
         Thanks. With your help i could able to solve the problem. Let me put this in some
    more detail.
    When we are pulling the field from a table to table control we need to make sure the fields should have a data elements. After pulling all the fields to a table control ,we need to drag out  and delete the current table control column headings and then drop in the (new) I/O fields into their place.  I then set the text on these new fields within the PBO.  If we try to drop the (new) I/O fields on top of the existing ones with out deleting it won't work.
    Thanks & Regards.

  • Dynamic columns in OBIEE

    Hello all,
    I have a weird requirement.
    Report is based on the period date we selected. We pass a Period/Month as parameter, once that is passed we want the data of the previous 4 months.
    Say for example, he passed parameter as Feb'10 -- we want data for Nov'09, Dec'09, Jan'10, feb'10 and column labels shuld be dynamically changed as per the parameter...
    can we achieve this in OBIEE? If so please tell me how to do that...
    Thanks in advance...
    kiran

    Hi Kiran,
    you can achieve this.
    But only in Pivot table.
    Follow this.
    Add some column in criteria and Use the following in the column formula.
    '<table width="100%" align="center" bordercolor="#C9CBD3"
    frame="void" rules="cols" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
    <tr>
    <td align="center" width = "200">
    <font color = "black">'|| _............._ ||'</font>
    </td>
    <td align="center" width = "200">
    <font color = "black">'|| _............._ ||'</font>
    </td>
    <td align="center" width = "200">
    <font color = "black">'|| _............._ ||'</font>
    </td>
    <td align="center" width = "200">
    <font color = "black">'|| _............._ ||'</font></td>
    </tr>
    </table>'Do not forget to change the Data Format of this column to 'HTML'
    Place this column on top of measures labels in Pivot View.
    But, you need to fix the width of all the measure columns and adjust the <td> width accordingly.
    Now, replace _............._ with the corresponding month names.
    (For this u can use some formula to get the last four names here)
    Hope it helps. :)
    If you find it useful, Please award points.

  • Dynamic columns in RTF

    Hi All,
    Any guidance on the following issue would be appreciated.
    I have to produce dynamic columns in my RTF file generated from XML file (created from Oracle report).
    The XML file I am working with has the following tags -
    <COURSE_START_DATE>15-AUG-2009</COURSE_START_DATE>
    <COURSE_END_DATE>19-AUG-2009</COURSE_END_DATE>
    In my RTF file, I have to print one column each for COURSE_END_DATE Minus COURSE_START_DATE (5 days in this case). Therefore 5 columns should print in my RTF file each with the heading '15-AUG-2009', '16-AUG-2009', '17-AUG-2009', '18-AUG-2009' and '19-AUG-2009'.
    Can somebody please help me how this can be achieved in my RTF template.

  • Dynamic Columns in TreeTable

    I am trying to create a treetable with some dynamic columns. The extra columns I need to show have been added as attributes to the node. <af:treeTable var="node" value="#{attrs.model.selectedModel}" binding="#{attrs.model.selectedTreeTable}"
    columnStretching="column:selLabel" verticalGridVisible="false" horizontalGridVisible="false"
    columnSelection="none" rowSelection="multiple" disclosedRowKeys="#{attrs.model.disclosedRows}"
    columnBandingInterval="0" selectionListener="#{attrs.model.selectionListener}"
    rowBandingInterval="0">
    <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
    <af:column id="selLabel">

    <af:image source="/images/blank.png" inlineStyle="width:12px; height:12px;"/>
    <af:outputText value="#{node.element.label}" inlineStyle="margin-left:3px;"/>
    </af:panelGroupLayout>
    </af:column>

    <af:column id="attr" headerText="#{attrName}">
    <af:outputText value="#{node.attributes[attrName]}"/>

    I have not been able to follow your suggestion, the compilation complains that the switcher is not a valid child of the treetable component. I am running out of options here , anybody else have any suggestions ?

  • How to change recordset bahaviour to accept dynamic column names in the where clause

    Hi
    im using php-mysql and i make a recordset and i want to make the column names in the where clause to be dynamic like
    "select id,name from mytable where $tablename-$myvar";
    but when i do this my i break the recordset and it disappear
    and when i use variables from advanced recordset it only dynamic for the value of the column not for the column name
    and when i write the column name to dynamic as above by hand it truns a red exclamation mark on the server behaviour panel
    so i think the only way is to change the recordset behaviour is it? if so How to make it accept dynamic column names?
    thanks in advance.

    As bregent has already explained to you, customizing the recordset code will result in Dreamweaver no longer recognizing the server behavior. This isn't a problem, but it does mean that you need to lay out your dynamic text with the Bindings panel before making any changes. Once you have changed the recordset code, the Bindings panel will no longer recognize the recordset fields.
    Using a variable to choose a column name is quite simple, but you need to take some security measures to ensure that the value passed through the query string isn't attempting SQL injection. An effective way of doing this is to create an array of acceptable column names, and check that the value matches.
    // create array of acceptable values
    $valid = array('column_name1', 'column_name2', 'column_name3');
    // if the query string contains an acceptable column name, use it
    if (isset($_GET['colname']) && in_array($_GET['colname'], $valid)) {
      $col = $GET['colname'];
    } else {
      // set a default value if the submitted one was invalid
      $col = 'column_name1'
    You can then use $col directly in the SQL query.

  • Bi publisher report, data table, column label displays last character

    Hello all,
    I have created various reports on BI Publisher (win2008 R2 64bit 11g (.1.1.5) version). After altering some access rights, all the reports that include data tables display only the last character of the column label. All the column data is reported correctly.
    example:
    - TotalNumber -
    4234
    234
    4
    became
    - r -
    4234
    234
    4
    Any ideas about what is going on???
    Thank you

    Thanks for the suggestion Simon.
    I just created a view based on the 46-column SELECT statement from dual above and then set "SELECT * FROM myview" as the Source Query.
    Unfortunately I get exactly the same error.
    Thanks,

    how can i change the column label text in a alv table display??
    A similar kinda of question was posted previuosly where the requirement was the label text was needed and following below code was given as solution :
    <i>*  declare column, settings, header object

    set Header Text as null
    lr_column_header = lr_column->get_header( ).

    My specific requirement is i have an input field on the screen and i want reflect that value as the column label for one of the column in the alv table. I have used he above code with slight modification in the MODIFYVIEW method of the view since it is a process after input. The component gets activated without any errors but while run time i get an error stating
    <i>"The following error text was processed in the system CDV : Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible."</i>
    i have checked in debugging and the error occured at the statement :
    <i>lr_column = lr_column_settings->get_column( 'CURRENT_YEAR' ).</i>Please can you provide me an alternative for my requirement or correct me if i have done it wrong.

    Please follow basic Netiquette and post the DDL we need to answer this. Follow industry and ANSI/ISO standards in your data. You should follow ISO-11179 rules for naming data elements. You should follow ISO-8601 rules for displaying temporal data. We need
    to know the data types, keys and constraints on the table. Avoid dialect in favor of ANSI/ISO Standard SQL. And you need to read and download the PDF for:
    https://www.simple-talk.com/books/sql-books/119-sql-code-smells/
    >> I need to select from a dynamic column name and save the result in a variable, but seem to be having trouble with the values being fed to sp_executesql <<
    This is so very, very wrong! A column is an attribute of an entity. The idea that you are so screwed up that you have no idea if you want
    the shoe size, the phone number or something else at run time of this entity.
    In Software Engineering we have a principle called cohesion that says a model should do one and only one task, have one and only one entry point, and one and only one exit point.
    Hey, on a scale from 1 to 10, what color is your favorite letter of the alphabet? Yes, your mindset is that level of sillyity and absurdity.
    Do you know that SQL is a declarative language? This family of languages does not use local variables!
    Now think about “month_val” and what it means. A month is a temporal unit of measurement, so this is as silly as saying “liter_val” in your code. Why did you use “sp_” on a procedure? It has special meaning in T-SQL.
    Think about how silly this is:
     SET @month_val = 'Month' + CAST(@month_nbr AS VARCHAR(2));
    We do not do display formatting in a query. This is a violation of at the tiered architecture principle. We have a presentation layer. But more than that, the INTERVAL temporal data type is a {year-month} and never just a month. This is fundamental.
    We need to see the DDL so we can re-write this mess. Want to fix it or not?

  • How to get the dynamic columns in UWL portal

    Hi All,
    I am working on UWL Portal. I am new to UWL. I have down loaded uwl.standard XML file and costomized for getting the  values for "select a Subview" dropdown and I am able to see the values in the dropdown. Now my requirement is to get the dynamic columns based on the selection from dropdown value.
    can any body suggest on how to get the dynamic columns in UWL portal.

    Hi  Manorama,
    1) If you have already created a portal system as mentioned in following blog
                  /people/marcel.salein/blog/2007/03/14/how-to-create-a-portal-system-for-using-it-in-visual-composer
    2) If not, then try to create the same. Do not forgot to give the Alias name .
    3) After creating a system, log on to the VC, Create one iView.
    4) Now Click on "Find Data" button from the list which you can view in right side to Visual composer screen.
    5) After clicking on "Find Data" button, it will ask for System. If you have created your system correctly and Alias name is given properly, then your mentioned Alias name is appeared in that list.
    6) Select your system Alias name and perform search.
    7) It will display all the BAPIs and RFCs in your systems.
    8) Select required BAPI and develop the VC application.
    Please let me know if you any further problems.
    Thanks,
    Prashant
