Dynamic Credentials with Webservice
I'm developing a web service and need to establish a database connection based on a heavyweight user in the database. (Please...no discussion on that design...it is what it is at least for now.)
So far I've created a class defining the service method. (This will be converted to a webservice later using the wizard.) I've created a separate project containing an AppModule through which I'll access the datasource.
Use of dynamic credentials for web apps is discussed here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/bc4j/howto_dynamic_jdbc.html. However the example depends on the lifecycle's calling a subclass of SessionCookieFactory and passing of the UID/password via HttpSession object attributes. I'm assuming that a webservice would not have a call to the SessionCookieFactory in its lifecycle.
Is there a way in a webservice design to dynamically set the username and password for the connection? I'm using an AppModuleImpl subclass in my project, but I haven't seen any methods for changing the username/password before or after my call to Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(String a, String b). {My connection string is defined in a database connection in the Connections Navigator.}
I'm developing in JDev 10.1.3.1.
OK...I was able to make this work by modifying the dynamic JDBC example:
public Element serviceMethod(String username, String password, String parameter) {
String amDef="mypkg.AppModule";
String config="AppModuleLocal";
ServiceEnvInfoProvider envInfo = new ServiceEnvInfoProvider(username, password);
AppModuleImpl module = (AppModuleImpl)Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef, config, envInfo);
Element resultElement = processingMethod(parameter);
return resultElement;
}

Dynamic Credentials and Web Service Data Controls
I've followed Steve Muench's post on using Dynamic Credentials (14. Dynamic JDBC Credentials for Model 1 and Model 2 [10.1.3.2] 2006, Upd: 17-MAY-2007), which works fine with the ADF BC part of the project. However, the project also contains Data Controls created from web services. I'm getting the following exception. Why are the web services being effected by the credentials and how can I fix it?

Dynamic accordion with dynamic datagrid
I’m trying to create a dynamic accordion with embedded
datagrids in each accordion area. I have the base working but have
2 problems I can’t seem to figure out.
Bases; the accordion uses a repeater and vbox with a custom
component from a webservice result set to create the accordion. The
custom component has another webservice that gets a value from the
repeater to pass it to the custom component.
My 2 problems:
1. how do I prevent the custom component from running the
webservice until the accordion item is clicked or the area is
visible? Otherwise I end up will a bunch of queries hitting the DB
and if there is several items for the accordion and many items from
the datagrid its slower.
2. how can I get the datagrid query to refresh when the
accordion item is clicked? Because the data may change I am not
able to see the updated data unless I reload the entire
application.
1 thing I did try. With the tab control you can use the
show() event and the data will refresh just fine, but with the
accordion, the show() event does not seem to fire. Its as if they
are all visible.
Any help here would be much appreciated, I’ve been
racking my brain for days now and I sure it is something simple
that I am missing. Thanks in advance.

Reg@ Dynamic invocation of Webservices using an Single Invoke
Hi ,
I am trying to implement Dynamic invocation of webservices using a single Invoke .
Say , i have three webservices = WebA,WebB and Webc .Based on Logic , i need to invoke either of the webservice with an single Invoke .
In [ ws-addressing.xsd ] there are different elements ,"Address" is for endpoint URL.PortType??ServiceName ?? .
If i need to make use of this XSD can any one help me to map the WSDL components to this XSD Or lease suggest options if any ??
Regards ,
Nagahttp://blogs.oracle.com/dasoa/2010/09/11g_dynamic_partnerlink_example.html
see the article he's refering too
eventually you need something like :
<assign>
<copy>
<from>
<EndpointReference xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/addressing">
<Address>http://localhost:9700/orabpel/default/UnitedLoan</Address>

What's up with Webservices and BPM integration?
According to http://e-docs.bea.com/wli/docs70/design/intarch.htm, table
3-1, webservices are a key component of the Integration architecture,
which:
"Provides sample code to support WebServices integration using
WebServices technologies
such as UDDI, WebServices Description Language (WSDL), and Simple Object
Access
Protocol (SOAP). WebLogic Integration provides the ability to invoke a
WebService
from a BPM workflow, enable a BPM workflow as a WebService, and to
enable the
Application View as a WebService. For an introduction to WebLogic
WebServices,
see the WebServices and XML Tech Track in the BEA dev2dev Online at the
following
URL:
http://dev2dev.bea.com/index.jsp"
The only thing which comes close to this description is the BPM Plugin
for webservices, which is alpha code for WLI 2.1. To deploy this on 7, I
have only seen a message here describing loosely what to do.
So is this how we are expected to use webservices together with
Integration? With alpha code that requires tweaking to work with the
current version? Or am I missing something vital? The quote from the
docs suggest "sample code", however the webservices plugin is not
provided in source, so I don't see how it qualifies as sample code?
Somehow I also don't quite understand how "sample code" can be construed
as a "key component".
So what's up with webservices and Integration?
-Lasse
(only speaking for myself in news!)Your comment about the lacking of web services in WLI is correct
and a fundamental issue I have signalled to BEA already many
months ago. I even followed the BPM course to make sure I did
not miss an important point. The BPM course did not deal with
webservices because it is not available. But the fundamental remark goes further
because webservices also have a dynamic
interface WSCI to behave within a choreography of webservices
within a business process. BPM is still mainly workflow based
and intracompany. This is not what is expected as business
processes which are collaborative and a new paradigm alternative for applications
conform BPML-WSCI or BPEL4WS-ws transaction.
I still wait from BEA a confirmation that webservices and collaborative business
processes according to (at least) one of
the above standards will be included within the next version of weblogic enterprise
platform due end of March 2002.
Kind regards,
Paul Meurisse

How does one go about implementing JDBC dynamic credentials as suggested by this article http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/bc4j/howto_dynamic_jdbc.html in UIX instead of JSP? Any pointers?
Thanks!
RonnyI should preface this with a warning that I'm not all that familiar with what you are trying to do. However, it should be possible to use very similar code to what is shown in the How To document for JSPs. In the JSP example, the code is inline part of the JSP. uiXML doesn't mix code and UI, so this code would therefore be located in a method event handler.
The first thing to do would be to create a uiXML page with form fields for username and password. I would use a messageTextInput for these fields (with the secret attribute set to true for the password field). I would add a "Login" submitButton, and then add a ctrl:event="Login" attribute to the button so that it will fire a UIX Controller "Login" event.
I would add a handler for the "Login" event in the handlers section of the uiXML page, and use a method event handler to call out to Java code. The method event handler has access to the HTTPSession and the submitted username and password, so you should be able to get the HTTPContainer and manipulate the session. The only major difference with the JSP example, would be that the JSP example uses the <jbo:ApplicationModule> tag in a try/catch block to attempt the connection, and you would need to use the regular BC4J Java APIs. If the connection was sucessful, your event hander would return an EventResult for the next paeg in your application, if there was an error you could return an event result for the same page displaying the error (as discussed in the Handling Errors chapter of the UIX Developer's Guide).
Whenever discussing login procedures, it is worth pointing out the TrivialPageFlowEngine in the UIX Controller which is useful in enforcing that the user has gone through your login procedure prior to jumping to any page in the application.
Hope this helps! -
JDBC Dynamic Credential with proxy users
Hi
We've developed an application with Business Components and it's been working very well. We're using JDBC Dynamic Credential like explain the document (How to Support JDBC Dynamic Credentials - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/10g/dynamicjdbchowto.html). Now we want to use proxy users with JDBC Dynamic Credentials. How can we
user proxy users with JDBC Credentials? What classes or parameters we need to change?
I've been tested proxy users a lot, but in simple java classes, I don't know where to set some parameters in business components, for example, where can I set the following parameters?:
OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXY_USER_NAME
OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME
Thanks in advance
LicethHi Frank, thanks again
Now we are using JDBC Credentials(like explain the paper http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/10g/dynamicjdbchowto.html), every user connects to the application with a diferent database user and password, then at database level the administrator can see diferents usernames (not the same user). Every application user correspond to a database user, relation one to one. The application works fine with that configuration. But, now for performance we want to change our application to use proxy users, I read that with proxy users redirectec to a single user, then the pooling connections are well reused, and at database level you have diferent usernames. Our principal goal is use pooling (for performance) and see diferent usernames at database level, this for facilitate administration tasks and auditory .
We want that the application user autenticate with proxy users (username and password) but we have some problems because we don't know where specify that we're using proxy users. (The parameters OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXY_USER_NAME
OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME).
We want open our connections with the following code:
OracleOCIConnectionPool ods = new OracleOCIConnectionPool();
ods.setURL("jdbc:oracle:oci:@"+tnsAlias);
ods.setUser("user_application");
ods.setPassword("oracle");
java.util.Properties prop = new java.util.Properties();
prop.setProperty(OracleOCIConnectionPool.CONNPOOL_MIN_LIMIT,"3");
prop.setProperty(OracleOCIConnectionPool.CONNPOOL_MAX_LIMIT,"20");
prop.setProperty(OracleOCIConnectionPool.CONNPOOL_INCREMENT,"1");
ods.setPoolConfig(prop);
java.util.Properties userNameProp = new java.util.Properties();
userNameProp.setProperty(OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXY_USER_NAME,"Mark/123");
Connection conn = ods.getProxyConnection(OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME,userNameProp);
with other user
userNameProp.setProperty(OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXY_USER_NAME,"Marty/123d");
Connection conn = ods.getProxyConnection(OracleOCIConnectionPool.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME,userNameProp);
Thanks in advance

Dynamic action with set value on date field
Hi,
I'm using APEX 4.02
I'm trying to calculate the age based on the date of birth dynamically on a form. I'm trying to do this with a (advanced)dynamic action with set value.
I'm able to get this kind of action working based on a number field etc, but NEVER on a date field.
I've read all posts on this subject but so far no solution. Even if I try to simply copy the value over to another date field or typecast it to a string ( to_char function ) it does not work. So for me the problem seems to be in the source field being a date field.
I've tried using the source value as is in a select statement :
select :P33_GEBOORTEDATUM from dual;
and also type casted based on the date format :
select TO_DATE(:P33_GEBOORTEDATUM,'DD-MON-YYYY') from dual
but still no luck.
On the same form I don't have any issues as long as the calculation is based on number fields, but as soon as I start using dates all goes wrong.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need any extra info just let me know.
Cheers
Bas
b.t.w My application default date format is DD-MON-YYYY, maybe this has something to do with the issue .... ?
Edited by: user3338841 on 3-apr-2011 7:33Hi,
Create a dynamic action named "set age" with following values.
Event: Change
Selection Type: Item(s)
Item(s): P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
Action: Set value
Fire on page load: TRUE
Set Type: PL/SQL Expression
PL/SQL Expression: ROUND( (SYSDATE - :P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH)/365.24,0)
Page items to submit: P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
Selection Type: Item(s)
Item(s): P1_AGE

APEX V4.2.3
DB 11.2
I have a classic report on page 1. I have a region button called "Export" (defined by a submit dynamic action with "show processing=Yes") that submits the page and then via a branch directs me to page 2 which has a slightly different version of the report on page 1 (i.e. no breaks) which I want to capture as a CSV export. Therefore I've set the report template on page 2 to " Export:CSV".
Now when I click on the page 1 export button the grey screen and loading gif appears indicating that the report is executing and then as expected, page 2 doesn't appear but instead the standard open/save window's dialog box appears asking to open or save the generated CSV file. All good..but the grey loading screen remains. How do I clear this loading screen and get back to the context of page 1 ?
thanks in advance
PaulPHi PPlatt,
We would love to help but you left out one crucial part of the puzzle: namely how does your CSV report get exported. With the way it is setup (a redirect to another page), I'm going to assume you do that because you have some PL/SQL on that page that prints the CSV.
Now there are two questions that are crucial here:
- How do we stop the icon from bugging us on the screen
- How do we communicate with the browser that it should no longer display the loading icon
The first question is rather easy, two simply lines of codes can do that:
$('#apex_wait_popup').hide();
$('#apex_wait_overlay').hide();
But when do we use this code? Quite simple when the document is downloaded. When is it downloaded? At the end of the PL/SQL code that prints the document to the browser.
What you could do is at the end of that code give an application item a certain value. For example :AI_PRINTED := 'Y';
Then all you need to do is let the browser ask for the value. You could do this by using JavaScript to continuously fire AJAX to the server using a JS timing event:
http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_timing.asp
Better would be a Server send event, but since you left out another crucial piece of information: your browser, I will not go deeper into this.
Start this timing event when someone asks for the document, and end it as soon as the process returns that :AI_PRINTED equals 'Y'.
Despite the lack of information, I hope I have given, or at least inspired you to get to the solution.

How to create dynamic DataTable with dynamic header/column in JSF?
Hello everyone,
I am having problem of programmatically create multiple DataTables which have different number of column? In my JSF page, I should implement a navigation table and a data table. The navigation table displays the links of all tables in the database so that the data table will load the data when the user click any link in navigation table. I have gone through [BalusC's post|http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/06/using-datatables.html#PopulateDynamicDatatable] and I found that the section "populate dynamic datatable" does show me some hints. In his code,
// Iterate over columns.
for (int i = 0; i < dynamicList.get(0).size(); i++) {
// Create <h:column>.
HtmlColumn column = new HtmlColumn();
dynamicDataTable.getChildren().add(column);
// Create <h:outputText value="dynamicHeaders"> for <f:facet name="header"> of column.
HtmlOutputText header = new HtmlOutputText();
header.setValue(dynamicHeaders[i]);
column.setHeader(header);
// Create <h:outputText value="#{dynamicItem[" + i + "]}"> for the body of column.
HtmlOutputText output = new HtmlOutputText();
output.setValueExpression("value",
createValueExpression("#{dynamicItem[" + i + "]}", String.class));
column.getChildren().add(output);
public HtmlPanelGroup getDynamicDataTableGroup() {
// This will be called once in the first RESTORE VIEW phase.
if (dynamicDataTableGroup == null) {
loadDynamicList(); // Preload dynamic list.
populateDynamicDataTable(); // Populate editable datatable.
return dynamicDataTableGroup;
I suppose the Getter method is only called once when the JSF page is loaded for the first time. By calling this Getter, columns are dynamically added to the table. However in my particular case, the dynamic list is not known until the user choose to view a table. That means I can not call loadDynamicList() in the Getter method. Subsequently, I can not execute the for loop in method "populateDynamicDataTable()".
So, how can I implement a real dynamic datatable with dynamic columns, or in other words, a dynamic table that can load data from different data tables (different number of columns) in the database at run-time?
Many thanks for any help in advance.flyeminent wrote:
However in my particular case, the dynamic list is not known until the user choose to view a table. Then move the call from the getter to the bean's action method. -

WebDynpro application using WebServices that access Oracle 8i database in the follow sequence:
WebServices -> Session Bean stateless -> Entity Bean CMP (manage connections; generate sql code, etc.)
In WebDynpro application we import WebService Model by the follow sequence:
New Model - Import Web Service Model - Local Server for WSDL Source - <WebService deployed>
In each WebServices we have created these methods:
findByID(ID);
getAll();
insert(parameters);
remove(ID);
update(parameters);
We guess that the error is generated in Entity Bean because all WebServices generate these errors.

Problem in aligning dynamic UI with the static UI
Hi All,
I have problem in aligning dynamic UI with the static UI, I am using Matrix layout.
Static fields are spread over 2 colums and 3 rows:
lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
Now when a value is selected in C, than E becomes visible, and depending on the values selected in E, there are dynamic UI generated, i.e dynamic lables and depending on some validation it will be either a dropdowns or input fiels or both.
at run time screen is like this:
lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
dynaSPACEdropdown
dynbSPACEinput field
if I change my selection in E than layout looks like:
lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
dynaSPACESPACEdropdown
dynbSPACESPACEinput field
Requirment: I need all the lables as well as dropdown/ input fiels in line with the static fields irrespective of my selection in E.
Something like this:
lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
dyna SPACEdropdown
dynbSPACESinput field
dyncSPACESdropdown
All this elements are in a group and that group has 2 transparent containers, 1 for static and for holding dynamic UI.
I tried playing with the container properties, and also tried fixing width of dynamic UI but still the alignment issue is encountered.
Can U guys plz give in ur valuable inputs as i need to fix this urgently.

JJHi Armin,
Can you please elaborate your solution ?, I do not have an idea of InvisibleElement & IWDView.resetView() ,
If you can give me the exact pointer than it would be great and a good learning exp. for me.
Thanks for the action assignment part, it worked.
if (wdContext.nodeMaterialClass().size() > 0 && wdContext.currentContextElement().getActionMatCls()) {
if (wdContext.currentMaterialClassElement().getMaterialClass_Description() != null || !wdContext.currentMaterialClassElement ().getMaterialClass_Description().equalsIgnoreCase(" ")) {
IWDGroup Searchgroup = (IWDGroup) view.getElement("DynGroup");
Searchgroup.destroyAllChildren();
view.getContext().reset(false);
for (int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodeMaterialCharateristcs().size(); i++) {
//this for label
IWDLabel CharLabel = (IWDLabel) view.createElement(IWDLabel.class, "label" + i);
CharLabel.setText(wdContext.nodeMaterialCharateristcs().getMaterialCharateristcsElementAt(i).getDescr_Char());
CharLabel.setDesign(WDLabelDesign.EMPHASIZED);
CharLabel.createLayoutData(MatrixHeadData.class); CharLabel.setWidth("154px"); Searchgroup.addChild(CharLabel);
further there are conditions to create either dropdown or input field
Can you please point where and how to apply your solution.

Dynamic stamps with Acrobat Pro X
Help needed!
How to create own dynamic stamps with Acrobat Pro X, without any knowledge of programming.
It was very easy with the program used before (Nuance); unfortunally it's not possible to export from Nuance to Acrobat.
Thanks in advance
vtosiIt can't be done without using a script, and not a very simple one, either.
There are detailed tutorials about how to do it, for example here:
http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials
If you're interested in someone to create the stamp (and all the required
scripts) for you, feel free to contact me by PM or at [email protected] .
