Dynamic data connection

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to setup data connection to call web services dynamically.
There are 3 environments (Dev, Test, and Production) and each environment has designated web services server.
For example, http://devserver is for dev web services, http://testserver is for web services for test environment.
What I'm trying to achieve is that I want to be able to create a pdf in dev environment and then promote it to the test server where the pdf has to call http://testserver instead of http://devserver without having to modify data connection everytime I promote a pdf.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul:
I've been trying to duplicate your process, and I am still having a problem.
I have a web service that supports searching.
It includes a query field to pass a string to the web service to search for, and a result field that is populated with the result.
I have 2 versions of the service running to simulate Test and Production web services.
I have linked the form to the Test version of the web service in Designer.
I am trying to dynamically shift to the Production version at run time.
I am cloning the data connection, populating the query field, and execting the connection.
I am getting an operation failed message: Error attempting to read from file.
I suspect that the query field's binding is not associated with the Production web service.
The server that hosts the services does not register a hit.
Any thougthts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

  • Dynamic Data Connection Parameter and Report Parameters

Hello to all,I am using a business view that is based on a dynamic data connection of 13 databases, each a different school.  When I use the BV is a CXrystal Report (XI), it correctly, of course, uses the "read only" parameter for me to select a school.  My problem arises when I try to enter a student name "list of values"  parameter using that same dynamic data connection.  After I select the "read only" school parameter, I then  select that student name and immediately, the "read only" school parameter resets to "--".  Therefore when I click okay, I get an error saying that my selection for the first parameter is invalid.Anyone have any suggestion on how I may be able to resolve this? Thanks,David

    Hello,
Jsut a reminder this is not a Support Case Management system but for all to use.
Since you have BOE 3.1 you should have a valid support contract. Log into Service Market Place and create a case on line and a support Engineer will call you.
If you don't know how to then ask your Manager who is your SAP Account Super User and that person can add you to the list and give you a log in ID and password.
    Thank you

  • Dynamic Data Connections -- only with Views?

    Post Author: mk1
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I'm developing reports using Crystal Designer (Crystal Reports Developer) in a mixed database environment.  We have an Oracle database that has a TEST and a LIVE version, and I want my users to be able to run reports against either.
I looked at using the Business View Manager that came in my 5-user copy of Crystal Reports Server, to set up Dynamic Data Connections -- but I would have to develop VIEWs for all of my reports, to use that, correct?
How can I give my users the ability to run ANY of the reports I'm writing against either the TEST or the LIVE database, without me having to build views or duplicate (and then maintain duplicates of) the reports?
    Thanks

MK1, not sure for your version of CR, but in CRXI, you can add a command, in the command you can add a parameter to select the database.

  • Business View data foundation with dynamic data connection hangs

We are running Business Objects XI 3.0 with Crystal Reports 2008 and Business View Manager 12.0.0.683.  In the Business View Manager tool, when I try to open a data foundation that uses the ACD Dynamic data connection, it hangs with the hourglass icon.  I have left it trying to open for at least an hour before killing the Business View Manager with the Windows Task Manager.  Data foundations using a static connection open fine as do the elements and views based on the data foundation with the dynamic connection.  The static data connections included in the ACD Dynamic connector point back to an Oracle Server.  Any ideas how to get the data foundations to open so I can edit our custom business views?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

I created some Views to pull the data in from the Oracle side.

  • How to configure Dynamic Data Connection for Business View

    Hi,
How can we configure Dynamic Data connection that we can save the profile of the connection to somewhere that we do not need to enter it everytime when we refresh the report?
    thanks and regards

    Hi James,
Thanks for the reply. Its solved now. For anybody if interested you can set the dynamic email address either i) having it as part of payload - In this case use the xpath to query the payload varaible ii) use identity service - follow the following steps
1.Create a user in Application enterprise manager/also you can use a existing account, if u are creating a new one assign the correct role
    2. In either case edit the user-properties.xml(bpel/system/services/config) file for the corresponding user and add an attribute called email
    3. Bounce the server for this changes to take effect
    4. In the notification properties in the to address use ids:getUserProperty and pass the attribute name

  • How to create a data connection with dynamic XML file?

    Thanks for all reply first!
I have formatted the submitted data into an XML file on the server side, this file can be import to PDF form correctly.
I try to send this XML file to the user to let him can review what he has submitted.
I guess that I should create a data connection to the XML file so that it can be reviewed by the user.
But the question is that the XML file is dynamic generated.
    How can i do?
give me some clus or examples, please.
    thanks,
    Jasper.

    Hi Jasper,
To show user back the result, you can use PDF instead of XML. You can store the PDF template in server and you can merge XML data with PDF template by Livecycle Form Data Integration service.
We, as KGC, can generate huge number of Adobe Livecycle forms in small periods. Also we give consultancy on Adobe Livecycle ES products and Adobe Livecyle Designer. In case of any need, do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Connect an 1-D array of cluster of 3 elements with dynamic data

    hi everybody.
I am trying to wire an 1-D array which consists of a cluster of 3 elements with dynamic data. The error that appears says that I'm trying to "connect two terminals of different types". Actually, what I want to do is write to a file the FFT data produced by the Spectral Measurements vi. In order to write to a file, I am using the Write to Measurement File vi, but I don't know if this is the right way to do this. Has anyone any idea about this problem, because I'm out of ideas....
    Thanks a lot!!

ok! This works really good! thanks a lot! now i'm facing an other problem...The output file does not contain the right data. I want to collect the FFT (frequency vs. amplitude) of a time signal and it gives me the record length and the sampling rate instead.
For example, if I use a sampling rate of 300 ksamples/sec and a record length of 1000 sampling points, the file to be created has one column containing the record length e.g.
    0
    1
    2
    3
    498
    499
and on more column containing almost zero values and the value of the sample rate. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
    Thank you!!

  • Connect 1 D array of cluster of 2 elements with dynamic data

    Hello
The type of source is 1D array of cluster of 2 elements and the type of sink is dyanamic data. Can any one guide me how to connect these 2 elements together. Any response would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

First, this question would more appropriately be posted to the LabVIEW Board. It is not a signal conditioning issue.
The dynamic data type (DDT), sometimes referred to as the "evil dynamic data type," completely obscures the internal data structure. The only way someone could help is if you tell us what the source is expecting the internal data structure to be. The only objects which want DDT inputs are Express VIs, which are also good at obscuring thier contents. Implementing the sampe funcitonality with standard VIs might be a better approach.
You also have not completely specified the source. What are the data types of the cluster elements?

  • How to generate SWF file with dynamic data but no live connection

    Hello,
We got a requirement where we have to email out SWF file either in PPT or outlook generated from BOBJ universe. When the file reaches the customer who would be outside our network with no access to our servers or data should be able to view the swf file with data. So the goal is to generate these files automatically and should not prompt for BOBJ login or wouldn't have ability to query the database but need to report data pertaining to the customer.
Any help in this regards is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Manohar

    Hi Manohar,
You can use QAAWS(query as a web services) and build your queries on universe.
You get an option of hardcoding the user id and password in the data connection for QAAWS which will not asks the users for login credentials.
This will hepl the user to veiw the latest data from the database and the user wont be asked for login too.
    Thanks,
    Amit.

  • Dynamic Data in Xcelsius Dashboard via ExcelXML Map?

    Hello,
I am trying to create a dashboard with a grid with a variable number of rows and columns. The data is given to Xcelsius through an Excel XML map i.e. I have given an XML source to an Excel file and then have imported that excel file into Xcelsius.
I am able to see dynamic data changes within the pre-specified dimensions (i.e. from the first import). For example, if I have a 4X5 grid and change the text in the first row and first column, then Xcelsius will reflect this. However if I add an additional row with data in the xml file, I am not able to see this, even if I resize the the grid so that it has room at the bottom to be filled in.
Does anybody have any experience with this/can anyone point me to specific articles? I have followed the instructions given in the Tech Tips article, but this only applies to data within a specific structure, while I want to change the structure itself.
In short, is it possible to do dynamic structures in Xcelsius?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Anjana Dasu

    Hi,
Please go to Data>Connections>Excel XMl maps under usage tab please check if you have set the options "Refresh on load" or "refresh every".
If not, please select the refresh option and save the xlf file and then try to create a dashboard again.
    Cheers,

  • How to save the dynamic data from a pressure sensor

    Hello Everyone,
We have a FPGA board NI cRIO-9073, a temperature module NI 9217 and a pressure module NI 9203. Right now we have problem with saving the data from pressure sensor.  I succeed in getting and saving the data from the temperature sensor. Then I just simply modify the FPGA VI and host VI of the temperature function block which are shown in the attachment files. But I get an error saying I cannot connect two different data types.
Could anyone here give me a help on this?
BTW: we are using a 2 wired pressure sensor with 4~20mA. The brown one is +Vcc and the white one is GND.I connect the white one with the COM of NI 9203 and the brown one is connected to AI7. DidI make a right connection?
Thx for any help from anyone!

Hi, I get this error message:
Write to textfile: function contains an unrelated or improper connection. You have combined two different types of connections among each other.
At least one entrance of the function required for their operation, is open or not properly connected, the connection scheme is illustrated in the context help.
They have combined two different types of connections with each other. This connection is not possible because the data types (such as "numeric", "String", "Arrary" or "clusters do not match"). Open to see the contextual help at what must have a data type for the connection. The type of data source (fixed) costs. The type of data is dynamic data.

  • Is there a way to do that? To use dynamic EJB connections?

    Hello Developers,
I have developed a security web application using EJB,
    Jaas with customer provider
    I used DBSystemLogin module
I want to fined a way that the EJB connection change each time when the user login.
I used the HR as the main schema.
I created three schemas that I want to use them as users:
    -Lina
    -Salem
    -Ahmad
I granted Roles to users on hr tables.
additional, created my own roles in data base and granted to my users:
ADMINISTRATOR  Lina - can see all records
EMPLOYEE Ahmad -can see the records added by this employee
CUSTOMER  Salem - can see the records belongs to this customer
    In developer 10.1.3.3
I created Order Entity been using HR database connection, created session been,
    Modified web.xml:
    -security roles["ADMINISTRATOR","EMPLOYEE","CUSTOMER"])
-Loginconfig (Form-based authentication: login page, error page)
-Security constraints: ord on /faces/Orders.jsp to ADMINISTRATOR,EMPLOYEE,CUSTOMER.
I created Orders.jsp page contains order table.
Now, I want that when the user login as Lina to switch the EJB database connection to Lina, so the displayed order table achieves ADMINISTRATOR roles that created in database, means opening database session for user Lina and use it.
and so on for user salem and ahmad.
Is there a way to do that? To use dynamic EJB connections? To achieve authentication based connection? to implement the user database roles on the client side? To specify the database connection at run time?
That is possible using forms but I don’t want to use forms.
I want to reed the roles from database according to the user.
I hope to get answers soon,
    thanks.

  • What's wrong with dynamic data?

I am starting this thread to showcase what I might call "dynamic data abuse": The use of dynamic data where it has no business to be used (does it ever?).
Everybody is invited to contribute with their own examples!
One of the problems when operating on dynamic data is its opacity. We can never really tell what's going on by looking at the code. It also seems to hide serious programming mistakes by adapting in ways to mask horrendous code and making it seemingly functional, glossing over the glaring programming errors.
To get it all started, here are a few recent sightings:
    (A)
(Seen here). No Kidding! The users joins a scalar with a waveform, then wires the resulting dynamic data to the index input of "replace array subset". He cannot see anything wrong, because the program actually works (coercing the dynamic data to a scalar will, by a happy coincidence, return the value of the scalar joined earlier. I have no idea what thought process led to this code in the first place (maybe just randomly connecting functions until the result is as expected? ).
    (B)
    (seen here)
What's wrong with simply branching the wire???
    (C)
I don't remember the link, but here's how somebody transposed a 2D array a while ago (bottom part of image). No way to tell from looking at the code picture! (The "FromDDT" and "ToDDT" need to be configured just right ...).

  • How can I create a data connection without ODBC (directly with OLE DB)

If connecting to an OLE DB data source, which is not defined as ODBC, the well known error message appears in Acrobat, that the environment is not trusted. The Designer Help says, that the document must be certified in Acrobat to run OLE DB without ODBC. So I certified the document in Acrobat allowing dynamic content for it. But the error message always appears. So I have some questions to this:
How is the correct certification process in Acrobat to define a trusted environment for using OLE DB without ODBC?
Why generates using of ODBC an trusted environment? With using ODBC data sources can be changed external from Acrobat, so I must think, ODBC is absolutely insecure.
Why is OLE DB without ODBC insecure? Here I have a defined connection string, which cannot be changed at runtime (if the form developer this doesn't want).
And why is the first record displayed instead of the error message, if using OLE DB without ODBC, but navigation is impossible?
This seems all very mysterious to me.
Does anyone in the world has ever created an OLE DB data connection (without ODBC) with Designer and Acrobat, which runs in a trusted environment?
    Thanks for your answers.
    Michael

For the Projects, the trick will be the Asset files. If they will fit onto DVD DL discs, you're OK. If they are too large (DV-AVI is ~ 13GB per hour), then you'll need some type of backup, or spanning software, that will write files across multiple discs. A better choice, IMO, would be a 1 - 2 TB external, where you can use Project Manager, or just Windows Explorer and Copy, to do the entire Project folder with Assets. I'd recommend against a USB and go at least for FW-400. FW-800 would be better, but you'll need FW-800 connections on your computer. eSATA would be the best, but then you'll need eSATA connectors.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Data connection, static PDF form, and presence

I've created a form with a dynamically populated dropdown of names. To get it populated, one step was to save it as a static PDF form. Then it worked perfectly. However, I soon found that my scripts to show hide elements no longer worked. Certain Action Builder actions still worked, but not show/hide. So I created a simple test form, and show/hide worked normally. I've tried both formcalc and javascript. So is it true that a form can be dynamic and all actions work or the form can be static and connect to a database, but a form cannot be both data-driven and change presence?

Thank you for this information, which may be true in theory, but my forms show that only the static form can show external data, and the static form can't change presence at runtime, although other actions (like reset all fields) will work. On the other hand, in a dynamic form, I can change presence, but data will not appear in the dynamic dropdown, which is grabbing names from SQL Server. Can you try an experiment yourself? Try a data connection and changing presence in the same form, and let me know what happens.
