    Flash has nothing to do with getting data from an Access
    database.
    You need to focus on either ASP or ASP.Net, a scripting
    language for the
    server script either JScript or VBScript, middleware usually
    ADO or ADO.Net
    and finally SQL. All of these items go together in a server
    side script that
    could work with non-Flash or Flash client interfaces. You
    should find many
    tutorials on the internet with these items as it has been
    done for nearly a
    decade.
    You also can use ColdFusion.
    For Flash, you need to learn LoadVars Actionscript class if
    you plan to
    communicate data in the URL Variables format or XML
    Actionscript class if
    you want to use XML data format. It will not really matter to
    Flash what is
    on the server side as it will only be sending and receiving
    data in either
    of those two data formats (URL Variables or XML).
    If you want to look at some Using VBScript, ASP, ADO and an
    OLEDB Connection
    examples I use for seminars in Web database you can take a
    look here:
    http://www.hosfordusa.com/ClickSystems/courses/webdb/.
    However they lack
    Flash example but would work "as is" with a Flash example.
    Once you look at some of those options, you can then form
    more specific
    questions for this forum and especially with using the
    LoadVars and XML
    Actionscript classes or the XML connector Flash component.

  • How to clear grey loading screen and animated gif (Dynamic Action with "Show Processing" on submit)

    APEX V4.2.3
    DB 11.2
    I have a classic report on page 1.  I have a region button called "Export" (defined by a submit dynamic action with "show processing=Yes") that submits the page and then via a branch directs me to page 2 which has a slightly different version of the report on page 1 (i.e. no breaks) which I want to capture as a CSV export.  Therefore I've set the report template on page 2 to " Export:CSV".
    Now when I click on the page 1 export button the grey screen and loading gif appears indicating that the report is executing and then as expected, page 2 doesn't appear but instead the standard open/save window's dialog box appears asking to open or save the generated CSV file.  All good..but the grey loading screen remains.  How do I clear this loading screen and get back to the context of page 1 ?
    thanks in advance
    PaulP

    Hi PPlatt,
    We would love to help but you left out one crucial part of the puzzle: namely how does your CSV report get exported. With the way it is setup (a redirect to another page), I'm going to assume you do that because you have some PL/SQL on that page that prints the CSV.
    Now there are two questions that are crucial here:
    - How do we stop the icon from bugging us on the screen
    - How do we communicate with the browser that it should no longer display the loading icon
    The first question is rather easy, two simply lines of codes can do that:
    $('#apex_wait_popup').hide();
    $('#apex_wait_overlay').hide();
    But when do we use this code? Quite simple when the document is downloaded. When is it downloaded? At the end of the PL/SQL code that prints the document to the browser.
    What you could do is at the end of that code give an application item a certain value. For example :AI_PRINTED := 'Y';
    Then all you need to do is let the browser ask for the value. You could do this by using JavaScript to continuously fire AJAX to the server using a JS timing event:
    http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_timing.asp
    Better would be a Server send event, but since you left out another crucial piece of information: your browser, I will not go deeper into this.
    Start this timing event when someone asks for the document, and end it as soon as the process returns that :AI_PRINTED equals 'Y'.
    Despite the lack of information, I hope I have given, or at least inspired you to get to the solution.

    Joni

  • File upload with 'asp vb' backend

    Hello,
    I am trying to get file uploading with flex (flash buider) working. There are plenty of examples with a php backend, but i need the script for a 'asp vb' backend.
    I' ve tried lots of different approaches but can't get it right. Someone out there with a solution?
    Thanx!!

    Believe it or not I have to do this also.
    I have legacy ASP code that uses ASPUpload that I'd like to get working with my Flash CS5 and FlashBuilder Burrito front-ends.
    it's just multipart encoded.
    So, if you first test it with ASPUpload and a simple form, trying just FILE1 first, and it works with ASP backend then tackle the FlashBuilder side with some debugging.
    ASPUpload is still an extremely embedded component on tens of thousands if not more sites, and it was just updated, but I think the previous version just before this update, the one that's out there in code on so many sites, that is what Flash needs to work with.
    ASPUpload is doing its part, as it follows all the multipart encoded RFC rules and has worked for years.
    I'd love to join you in finding out what's going on here.
    This is a long-standing issue.
    I've done PHP also.  But again, enhancing an interface with FlashBuilder4 or Burrito, to integrate with working legacy code makes it hard when something is not working on the Flash side (it appears anyway) as ASPUpload form posts are extremely easy.

  • Send Variable From ASP to Flash to ASP

    I'm really, really new to Flash and using Flash 8 Pro. This
    is what I'm trying to do. I have a list of cars, when someone

  • Flash --- Dreamweaver (.asp)

    I trying an old version of Flash and trying to determin if it
    will be worth it to use and I've run into a problem that I don't
    understand.
    We have a site made with .asp. I mad a flash file and went
    through the publishing with no problem, but here is where my
    problem started.
    I have the files saved with all of our other site's files and
    am try to use a .swf flash file. When I put it in and play it in
    Dreamweaver, it looks fine. But when I load the page in and try and
    open the page with Explorer, no flash file appears and it looks
    like there isn't anything there.
    I then went to a html file that we have and tried using it in
    that page and it worked fine. I have no idea why I'm having this
    problem, but could someone please explain why this is happening?
    Also, is there a way to convert an .asp file to a .html file?
    Thank You

    I believe that you can "convert" an ASP page to HTML simply
    by changing the
    name. The web server will no longer see that as an ASP page.
    However, any
    ASP code will not work and any ASP code within the page will
    be interpreted
    as HTML and may cause errors.

  • Help needed with .asp files

    I am not sure what I am asking or what I need to do, so please bear with me, thanks.
    I am helping out with a site that has one dynamic page utilizing a database with an .mdb extension.
    Previously hosted on a site with ASP (not sure which version).
    New host has MySQL with PHP (?)
    I would like to be able to rework the one dynamic page in DW, using .php. I am not able to upload the .mdb file to my localhost MySql area.
    It all comes down to the database.....
    Is there a way to convert the .mdb file to one with an .sql extension?
    Or am I taking the wrong approach?
    Thanks,
    Melissa

    >Previously hosted on a site with ASP (not sure which version).
    >New host has MySQL with PHP (?)
    Are you sure the host doesn't also support .asp?
    >I  would like to be able to rework the one dynamic

    An mdb file is MS Access. There are conversion utilities that will convert between the two dbms's, but if the schema is not complex you can simply build the new database in MySQL, export the data from access and then import it.

  • Picture gallery with ASP

    I have seen several examples of picture gallery on the net

    If someone can help me to do so.

    top/ bottom/ next/ previous navigation facility.
    My object is to provide thumbnails of the pictures on the
    left and right side of the stage and then using its large view in
    center part of the stage by dragging these thumbnails.
    Please help

    if (returnVal == JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION) {
                    File file[]= fcSelectFile.getSelectedFiles();
                    //This is where a real application would open the file.

                        selectedFile[count].setText("Opening: " + file[count].getName() + ".\n");
                        count++;
                }I tried something like this. But somehow it doesn't show anything when I select a few files? I am not too sure what is wrong. Btw, this is only partial code and you can assume other things like Panel and Filechooser are already working. What is not working is this JTextArea array.

  • Load image from SQL database with ASP?

    Hello,
    Does anyone know a tutorial where you can load an image from
    a SQL database ?
    I would like to show this image in Flash, but i don't know
    how to load in from a SQL database using ASP.
    Regards,
    Micheal

    Flash cannot load images from an SQL database.
    Flash can load JPEG, PNG, GIF, SWF, MP3, and FLV files.
    An SQL database can be used to store the file names and their
    location. ASP can retrieve that data from the SQL and return to
    Flash to load the above file formats.
    For Flash to do the communication with ASP you need to
    determine if you are using URL Encoded or XML data structures.
    For URL Encoded data you look at
    LoadVars.sendAndLoad
    For XML Encoded data you look at
    XML.sendAndLoad
    Then in their onLoad methods you use
    MovieClip.loadMovie
    to load JPEG, GIF, PNG and SWF;
    Sound.loadSound
    for MP3,
    NetConnection.connect,
    Video.attachVideo and NetStream.play for FLV.
    For the ASP side the work with the database has nothing to do
    with Flash other than using any search variable sent from Flash
    with LoadVars.sendAndLoad or XML.sendAndLoad. In other words it
    could be an HTML form sending the same variable and calling the
    same ASP script. Same with returning values except with Flash only
    URL Encoded or XML data structures are sent back and not
    HTML.

  • Dynamic action with set value on date field

    Hi,
    I'm using APEX 4.02
    I'm trying to calculate the age based on the date of birth dynamically on a form. I'm trying to do this with a (advanced)dynamic action with set value.
    I'm able to get this kind of action working based on a number field etc, but NEVER on a date field.
    I've read all posts on this subject but so far no solution. Even if I try to simply copy the value over to another date field or typecast it to a string ( to_char function ) it does not work. So for me the problem seems to be in the source field being a date field.
    I've tried using the source value as is in a select statement :
    select :P33_GEBOORTEDATUM from dual;
    and also type casted based on the date format :
    select TO_DATE(:P33_GEBOORTEDATUM,'DD-MON-YYYY') from dual
    but still no luck.
    On the same form I don't have any issues as long as the calculation is based on number fields, but as soon as I start using dates all goes wrong.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need any extra info just let me know.
    Cheers
    Bas
    b.t.w My application default date format is DD-MON-YYYY, maybe this has something to do with the issue .... ?

    Hi,
    Create a dynamic action named "set age" with following values.
    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    Action: Set value
    Fire on page load: TRUE
    Set Type: PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression: ROUND( (SYSDATE - :P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH)/365.24,0)
    Page items to submit: P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P1_AGE

  • How to create dynamic DataTable with dynamic header/column in JSF?

    Hello everyone,
    I am having problem of programmatically create multiple DataTables which have different number of column? In my JSF page, I should implement a navigation table and a data table. The navigation table displays the links of all tables in the database so that the data table will load the data when the user click any link in navigation table. I have gone through [BalusC's post|http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/06/using-datatables.html#PopulateDynamicDatatable] and I found that the section "populate dynamic datatable" does show me some hints. In his code,
    // Iterate over columns.
            for (int i = 0; i < dynamicList.get(0).size(); i++) {
                // Create <h:column>.
                HtmlColumn column = new HtmlColumn();
                dynamicDataTable.getChildren().add(column);
                // Create <h:outputText value="dynamicHeaders"> for <f:facet name="header"> of column.
    HtmlOutputText header = new HtmlOutputText();
    header.setValue(dynamicHeaders[i]);
    column.setHeader(header);
    // Create <h:outputText value="#{dynamicItem[" + i + "]}"> for the body of column.
    HtmlOutputText output = new HtmlOutputText();
    output.setValueExpression("value",
    createValueExpression("#{dynamicItem[" + i + "]}", String.class));
    column.getChildren().add(output);
    public HtmlPanelGroup getDynamicDataTableGroup() {
    // This will be called once in the first RESTORE VIEW phase.
    if (dynamicDataTableGroup == null) {
    loadDynamicList(); // Preload dynamic list.
    populateDynamicDataTable(); // Populate editable datatable.
    return dynamicDataTableGroup;
    I suppose the Getter method is only called once when the JSF page is loaded for the first time. By calling this Getter, columns are dynamically added to the table. However in my particular case, the dynamic list is not known until the user choose to view a table. That means I can not call loadDynamicList() in the Getter method. Subsequently, I can not execute the for loop in method "populateDynamicDataTable()".
    So, how can I implement a real dynamic datatable with dynamic columns, or in other words, a dynamic table that can load data from different data tables (different number of columns) in the database at run-time?
    Many thanks for any help in advance.

  • Stop and Play All Child MovieClips in Flash with Actionscript 3.0

    I am stuck with the ActionScript here. I have a very complex animated flash movie for eLearning. These contain around 10 to 15 frames. In each frame I am having multiple movie clip symbols. The animation has been created using a blend of scripting and also normal flash animation.
    Now I want to create pause and play functionality for the entire movie. I was able to create the pause function but when i try to play the movie it behaves very strange.
    I was able to develop the pause functionality by refering to the below mentioned links:
    http://www.unfocus.com/2009/12/07/stop-all-child-movieclips-in-flash-with-actionscript-3-0 /
    http://www.curiousfind.com/blog/174
    Any help in this regard is highly appreciated as i am approaching a deadline.
    I am pasting the code below:
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.display.DisplayObjectContainer;
    import flash.utils.Timer;
    import flash.events.TimerEvent;
    import fl.transitions.*;
    import fl.transitions.Tween;
    import fl.transitions.easing.*;
    import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    stop();
    // function to stop all movieclips
    function stopAll(content:DisplayObjectContainer):void
        if (content is MovieClip)
            (content as MovieClip).stop();

                if (content.getChildAt(i) is DisplayObjectContainer)
                    child = content.getChildAt(i) as DisplayObjectContainer;
                    if (child.numChildren)
                        stopAll(child);
                    else if (child is MovieClip)
                        (child as MovieClip).stop();

            if (movieClip.currentFrame < movieClip.totalFrames) // if the main timeline has reached the end, don't play it

    This movie is an animated movie from the start to end. I mean to say that though it stops at certain keyframes in the timeline it stops for only a certain time and then moves on to the next animation sequence.
    Its not an application where the user can interact.
    On clicking the play button i want the movie to play normally as it was playing before. If the user has not clicked on the pause button it would anyhow play from start to finish.
    Is there anyway where i could send in the fla file?

  • How to add a dynamic parameter with VB 6?

    I'm building a simply application that will open crystal 11 reports and add a single parameter. I've been able to get this working however I don't know how to set the parameter as dynamic and add to the list of values?

    Hi Jason,
    Please search Forums before posting a question. There are others doing the same whcih include samples on how to. Here's one of them: Loading a prompt list dynamically on an ASP.NET page in Crystal 11
    I assume you are using the RDC ( craxdrt.dll ). The RDC has been deprecated since version 9 meaning there have been no updated or new fucntionality added to it. Since Cascading Parameters were introduced in CR 11 the RDC has no API available and nor does the .NET components. Check the posting above for more info.
    Also the RDC is not supported in .NET so you should upgrade CR and move to .NET Suite.
    Thank you
