Dynamic Form Elements?

Hi,
How can I generate some form fields such as <mx:TextInput>, <mx:ComboBox>, dynamically?  Say I have a database call that returns 4 records.  I want to generate 4 sets of form fields, each set having things like first name, last name, address fields.  But each form field can still be uniquely identified.
I have done this in html and coldfusion by just appeneding the primary key value to each form field (i.e, <input type="html", id="first_name_#i#" name="first_name_#i#  />
Ultimately, you get a set of identical fields but each field is uniquely named so it can be referenced.  The number of repeating sets is equal to the number of records returned from the query.
Any help appreciated on how to get this done.... hope it makes sense.
Regards,
-ws

Is this a recent development? Is it a PHP file in CS3?
I had to use this for non-stop crashes in DWCS3...

  • Spry event listeners with dynamic form elements

    Hi ,
    I am trying to implement spry event listeners with a form that has dynamic check boxes and text field name. I now i can get the elements in a var and loop through with a normal function but can this work for spry events listeners

    Short answer is yes. But I have a feeling that you need further assistance, in which case give us a URL to a page that you want to apply the event listener to.

  • Dynamic Form elements and how to process them

    Hello,
    I am a completely green flex developer with little
    experience. I am currently consuming HTTPServices and also posting
    data to them. I've got this down. I've built a form which has a set
    of checkboxes in a datagrid. It dynamically builds this list from
    an xml provided by HTTPService via php. Here is the code:
    <mx:DataGrid x="10" y="10" width="470" height="289"
    dataProvider="{pluginsListRequest.lastResult.family}"
    id="familyList>
    <mx:columns>
    <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="" >
    <mx:itemRenderer>
    <mx:Component className="pluginFamilies"
    id="pluginFamiliesItemRenderer">
    <mx:CheckBox selected="{data.selected}"
    change="data.selected=selected" label="{data.name}"/>
    </mx:Component>
    </mx:itemRenderer>
    </mx:DataGridColumn>
    </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
    GRRR the code is a little hard to read like this but this
    editor won't let me post it any other way. I assure you it's
    formatted beautifully at my end.
    This produces a list of checkboxes with labels inside of a
    datagrid control.
    My question is this... Since this list will be changing, I
    can't statically define it. However, I need to iterate over this
    list and produce a POST request to post the data in the form. The
    script I am posting to, will create an xml which will then be
    written to the database. It doesn't really care what the incoming
    data looks like, it will generate an xml out of any POST request.
    How do I iterate over this list, using action script, and
    pull the labels/indexes for each one that is checked? I have been
    hammering on this for 2 days and am getting nowhere. It renders
    fine, I just can't figure out how to iterate over this dynamic
    control at runtime. I am sorry for being such a noob but I am
    learning the way of flex; it's pretty confusing for a novice.
    thx,
    Neil

    Finally I figured out how to do it. One has to create an outlet to the NSTextView embedded in the NSScrollView and use to to assign the text. I am sure there exist even better way to achieve it, but here is what I did:
    - click on MainMenu.xib, then on Text View in the second column. This selects the text-view area in the picture shown in column 3
    - click the text view in column 3 and cmd-drag it (in the IB) to the AppDelegate.h to create an outlet of NSTextView. I gave it the name myText.
    - in AppDelegate.m, assign the text (alles) to myText:
    [self.myText setString:alles];
    Trivial? Yes, but it needed time to figure it out an even the net did not provide a quick answer.

  • Dynamic forms struts

    I need to display a page with dynamic form elements. i.e I will not be aware of the form content...how many text boxes, drop downs while writing the concrete form bean.
    Can anyone let me know how to achieve this using struts.

    I'm not sure struts will work for you as you do not know what fields will be on the form until run-time.
    You may be stuck with working with the Action's request object:
    mRequest.getAttribute(mFieldName[1]);
    Where mFieldName is 1 or more form fields with the same name...
    I'm looking into this myself and will let you know if I come up with something better.

    Hi rrhegde,

    Ok, So instead of making it party1, party2, party3, party4, .............................
    if I make it party[1], party[2], party[3], party[4],.............................
    But then how do I process this array. Since the array length will not be fixed, it depends upon users.
    If possible pls provide me some example code on this.

  • How to implement Dynamic form validation

    Hello,
    I've been reading up on the forums about using the htmldb.item package to dynamically create form elements using a SQL query. Assuming I can generate the form dynamically, what approaches/options are available for implementing dynamic validation of the form elements themselves?
    Thanks in advance

    You could write a page-level 'PL/SQL Function Body returning error text' validation where you loop over your dynamic form elements (htmldb_application.g_fnn), check the values and raise errors as needed.

  • Dynamic layout elements determination logic for output of Pro-Forma Invoice

    This is my requirement below. Please give the suggestion
    Business requires output to be generated in name of the client, with client logo and scenario specific data elements. To do this in Standard SAP will require to define hundreds and hundreds of layouts. By making most of the client/scenario elements on the layout we can greatly reduce the number of required layouts and reduce implementatuion effort and lead-time.
         The goal is to define a generic table that will hold most of the dynamic layout elements for different document types and countries, including logo, sender address etc.
          For this we will create Z-versions of the output types BA00 ( Order Confirmation, ZPRI (Pro-Forma Invoice) and RD00 (ZD00 Invoice).The layout text blocks will be permanently fixed.The print Program user-exit should call the Z-table that holds the dynamic layout elements and retrieve these elements and merge them with the matching layout text block.

    Hi Janardhan,
       Even I have faced the similar situation.but what we have done is instead of calling the dynamic text elements..Why don't we call the text elements based on the required condition ,Then u dont have to maintain all the text elements required in the table.In the table we can only have the doumnent type,client name,logo name and address.
    In the print program if u r using script layout then call the required text elements (write_text) based on the client name and document type that is fetched from the Z-table,Otherwise if u r going for smartforms then with in the layout give the condition under the conditions node of the window or the text.

  • Dimensions of Adobe Form element - dynamic?

    Hi,
    I have a Java WebDynpro Application that contains a ViewSet, with an adobe form in one of the cells. I would like to have the entire Adobe application frame(including the page number at the bottom) dynamically fit within the real-estate available on a given PC, but I am having issues accomplishing this.
    It seems that when defining the form element, it forces you to specify an exact vertical height of the form, say 700px, instead of allowing you to enter 100%, which to me would indicate that it should fill the available vertical space in the grid. When I enter 100% it shows only ~ 1 inch of my form. I can enter a fixed height, but the form displayed may be either too big (a 2nd scroll bar is provided by the WebDynpro in addition to the Adobe scroll bar) or too small (lots of unused space on the screen) for a given pc.
    Are there any tricks for configuring the form to have the height adjusted to the PC screen real estate dynamically? Is this a limitation within the View Set of the WebDynpro?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Todd,
    What we did is calculate the height and width based on the resolution of the client screen. Instead of directly accessing the Web Dynpro application via an iView, we merely access a portal application that redirects to the Web Dynpro iView. The portal application passes the screen resolution, obtained by some javascript (<i>screen.height</i> and <i>screen.width</i>), to the Web Dynpro application as URL parameters. Based on that information, the Web Dynpro application can calculate the optimal height of the form. It's far from perfect, but since we open the Web Dynpro application in a new, maximized, screen, it works reasonably well (although the tabs in IE7 do cause some trouble).
    Kind regards,
    Sigiswald

  • Dynamically rendering form elements

    I am very new to Adobe LiveCycle Designer and Adobe Form Server.
    Is is possible to create form elements dynamically? For example. User

  • Broken Delete button in Dynamic Form. For the ADDT gurus!

    I have a feeling i may be at Günter's mercy on this one. Hope you have time to look at this; of course for any and all, the same applies!
    I have a dynamic list which i spent quite a lot of time with - rearranging elements within the ADDT generated KT_tng table. Just moving one recordset piece can take up to 30 seconds, so it takes QUITE a while with a lot of data to move.
    Anyways, i seem to have "broken" the delete button in mine. I hope someone can help me fix it, i really dont have time to redo all the changes i did to the dynamic list layout. (i did test as i went to make sure i didnt break it, but guess i just missed a piece..) I changed mainly the location of things, and CSS.
    I have an older version where the delete button works. I have compared but cannot find the answer. Both versions do everything else, live, with the database & their respective dynamic forms.
    I have all 4 files live, and unprotected, for now, and txt versions of all four. If you need to test anything with the live pages, its ok, most of the data is dummy data.
    Ive been saturated in ADDT dynamic lists, and dont have a background of hand coder, but am learning a lot, quick. so i have tried hard to understand this exact issue i created - im not looking for others to do my work. just my little disclaimer :)

  • XML data within dynamic form

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make a new XML Schema connection inside the form designer, I successfully made the connection and get the data inside my form, but I have only one problem, I have a huge number of records which I decided to make them as a dropdown list, they are about 11000 records, OK, now to the problem which is if I save the form as a static pdf form the list will be filled completely with the data came from the XSD file, and the produced file size is about 3 M, but if I save it as dynamic pdf form, the produced file size is about 400 K, but if I tried to access the dropdown list inside the file, it takes forever to load, without getting any result at the end.
    OK, my personal conclusion is that in case of the static forms the data saved inside the pdf file, but in case of the dynamic forms the data is not saved there.
    I need to save the file as dynmic pdf because I have a table that needs to add new row accoriding to the user click on a button of (add new row).
    So, can any one help me to fix this issue?

    Sorry, I found the solution:
    when I use the Adobe Reader 8.0.0 or Adobe Acrobat professional 8.0.0
    the stuff works normally, but in case of Adobe Reader 8.1.1 or Adobe Acrobat professional 8.1.1 this problem happens,
    Now I'll explain:
    1- I have a form with dropdown list.
    2- I want to populate this dropdown list from XSD file has structure similar to the following:
    =====================================================================
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xs:element name="shipRequest">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="orders">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="order" maxOccurs="unbounded">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="shipVia">
    <xs:simpleType>
    <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
    <xs:enumeration value="Ground"/>
    <xs:enumeration value="2 Day Air"/>
    <xs:enumeration value="Overnight"/>
    </xs:restriction>
    </xs:simpleType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    ====================================================================
    but with one main difference, that the element of shipVia has about 11000 of (<xs:enumeration ) elements.
    3- when I made the normal steps of make new connection to XSD file, it walked with me normally without any errors.
    4- incase I save this form as static pdf file, then open it with adobe professional, the menu is working smoothly and load the data inside perfectly.
    5- incase I sace this form as dynamic pdf file, if I try to open the dropdown list, it takes forever to load the data.
    very starnge that this problem happen with the newer version, so any idea for this??

  • Hiding toolbars in Interactive form element

    Hi all,
    I am using interactive form element to embed a purely readonly pdf (but content is dynamic) since Iframes is deprecated (any other way?).
    I wish to hide the toolbars, options of  thumbnails etc. I added the code below to my view controller. However, it does not seem to work. All the toolbars are still showing. Did i do something wrong?
    IWDPDFDocumentInteractiveFormHandler iFormHandler =

    TIA

    Hi,
    As the error suggests that you do not have any certificate configured in your key store which is required to authenticate the client to the ADS. You would require to install a client certificate on your Web Dynpro/Portal server that will be used to authenticate the Web Service call to ADS.
    But the question is whether you need "Https" for a server to server communication (from your portal server to ADS server) ? Normally, these two servers reside in the LAN. And i suppose you are not using any of the secured functionalities of interactive form (for example, digital signature, certification etc.). I assume that you need "https" call from browser to the portal server and then from portal server to the ADS should be on http. Please confirm on that. If that is the case, then you can follow the section below to change the "protocolSchemeForADSCall" to "http" always. This is what you would need to do in the Visual Administrator where your portal/web dynpro is installed:
    In Visual Administrator. Go to ->
    Server -> Services -> Configuration Adapter -> webdynpro -> sap.com ->
    tcwddispwda -> Propertysheet default
    Then goto property sap.protocolSchemeForADSCall
    This property is available after you apply SAP note 849730.
    Possible values are:
    - request: same protocal scheme than the request to Web Dynpro has
    - https: always use https
    - http: always use http
    SET the value as http. This will ensure that web Dynpro to ADS communication always happens on http, rather than on https.
    Should you need to install SSL based communication between the two, you would need to follow the note:
