Dynamic Forms in Pages

Is it possible to create a dynamic PDF in Pages 09? That is, I would like to create a form that I can email as PDF, someone can fill it out and then return it via email.

You could start the layout in Pages but the dynamic part you will have to do in Acrobat Pro.

Dynamic form: Getting page 2 content to flow right after page 1 content

I have created a two-page form--if the content expands on page 1, the 'overflow' goes to page 2, HOWEVER the page 2 fields always starts on a new page, (in this case page 3)...not what I want.
How do I tell the page 2 content to flow right after the page 1 content?

You should have 1 page form instead of two. The trick is to get all your form objects in your page 2 wrapped by a flow subform in order for them to flow as the subform above it grow.

How to make my dynamic form pages flow correctly?

I have created a dynamic form which has multiple questions with expandable text fields that will take multiple pages once completed. I do not know how to make the form flow correctly past the first page. I can attach the form if I knew how to do that.

Page Number Disappesrs when click on Reset button in Dynamic Form

Dear all,
In dynamic forms I have taken Page n of m field outside the content area in master pages.I have added the reset button in body pages of the form.In the pdf When I click on Reset button the page nos are disappearing along with the other data.
I want the page no should not disappear.How can I get rid of this problem. If any body can please help me.

Firefox checks on the server if the file has been modified if you use the back button.<br />
If the page was requested by sending post data to the server then Firefox sends that post data and asks for confirmation.<br />
You can try to use the tab history of the Back button skip sites that require sending post data.
You can also try if it works if you set to never check the server by setting the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency pref to 2.

Issue tabbing across page breaks in dynamic form

Hi all,
I have a strange problem that I'm having trouble getting to the bottom of, relating to my dynamic form.
This form grows and shrinks depending on how the user fills it out. I have a questionnaire section where certain questions are hidden or shown depending on previous input.
Things get interesting when I look at the tab order. Sometimes when tabbing forward or backward across page breaks, the focus lands on a spot that I cannot identify. There will be no cursor and I can not type. However if I continue to tab in the same direction, I can see that it is still going in the correct sequence. It just looks like for some reason, in those places, focus is put in the wrong component. But if I type different input into the prior fields (ones that affect the length of the pages) that causes the field to move to different place where it's not adjacent to a page break, and then tabbing to the field in either direction works fine. It seems that only when it's beside a page break, it becomes problematic.
Also, it only seems to be a problem if the field gets moved to be adjacent to a page break AFTER the form is initially rendered. If the field was originally beside a page break by default, then it seems to work fine.
Just to rule out a possible problem with the tab order configuration, I set my from to Automatic tabs, and even went as far as removing all the <traversal> elements from the form.
After doing either of those things, the problem still persists.
Has anyone seen this before?

I have seen funny behaviour when tabbing within Preview in LC Designer. It may be picking up a read-only item in the Master Page.

New page every 7 item, dynamic form

I got a form with a header page with one item in it and another page with only items (lets call it the item page).
The header page should always display and be populated.
The item page should only display if we have more than one item.
Iif we have more than 8 items in total (1 on header page, 7 on item page), we need to create another item page.
I made the page layout but I have no idea how to make it possible that it will be dynamic and generating pages depending on number of items I have.

What you need can be done, definitely. But you should think about the problems you face not to pick the most terryfying way to achieve this.
I hope I can understand your problem. But I cannot recommend you to do this through scripting.
First: SAP advise for Adobe is not to script anything what you do not have to scipt. That means avoid scripting every time possible. That means: try to change your solution so most of the changes are done in ABAP before the form is generated. I will clarify further.
Second: If you have header occurence independent "wierdly dependent") on the items page occurence, work on them separatelly.
Conclusion:
Create a table for the header lines.
Create a table for the item/ body lines.
From the original table create these two in ABAP. I have understood that your only criteria to distribute the rows is the index. You do know the index for every row in the ABAP as well.
This will make the body lines and header lines independent and you can bind first table to header subform and the second to body subform and work nicely with the "repeat for each data item" on binding tab.
If you don´t like it: Create a table where the row has a header line and the body lines.
This way you separate the lines as well but the number of headers is the same as number of bodies.

Making dynamic form flow on to next page

I am trying to make a dynamic form that is expandable. I have succeeded in creating expanding fields, but have been unsuccessful in convincing those fields to flow on to the next page (which I have added). I have set all the content for my fields to flowed and have allowed page breaks in all of them. I suspect there might be a pagination issue, but I have not found any solid information about how to use it correctly. If I select any option other than the default in pagination (while the subform at the bottom of the page is selected), the whole form disappears. I realize I may have some inherent flaws in my design and will perhaps need to start over, but if anyone had a list of requirements for making things flow to the next page (after a set margin at the bottom of the page, i.e. at 1" from the bottom, the field entry splist, and continues at 1" from the top of page 2), I would be grateful.

I wondered if you might be able to help me solve another flow issue? I've got my form working quite well now, but I', having an issue with the text fields. My fields have captions that ask a question, and the response should be in the field. I wondered if there was a way to make the text fields wrap onto the beginning of the next line as they expand, rather than going onto the next line at the limit of the text field. For example-
What is your favorite color?: (the response continues here and goes all the way to the end and on to the next
line and continues here.
rather than-
what is your favorite color?: text text etc etc
text text text etc etc.
Does that make any sense? Is it possible? Should I throw this to the forum?

Dynamically display the page numbers on forms

Hi,
I have 10 pages in a form with the common footer section/fap in all pages. I used the common footer section to maintain the consistent left and right footer (having State specific footer information) on all ten pages. But I would like to display the page number dynamically based on page number as specified below:
For example, for page 1, it should display the footer as Page 1A,for page 2 it should display as Page 1B, for page 3 it should display as Page 1C etc.,
Can anyone help me on this issue how can I dynamically display the page number based on the current page as per the above requirement.

Ignoring the fact that you have 10 pages that you want to label all as "page 1", assuming you have version 11.4 (? or higher) you might be able to do this.
Somewhere around that version the concept of "Print time" fields was introduced where you can define a field that will make a call-out to generate the value at the point in time when it tries to print.
You would name the field something like: ~DAL MyPageValue
Yes, with the tilde next to DAL and a space between DAL and the name of a script you want to execute that would do your calculation. As the previous reply mentions, you would have to keep track of your own page counter to know whether to append the 'A', 'B', 'C', etc. to the "Page 1" description you intend.

you need to use the "rendered" attribute of the components...
for example in your jsp put this...
<h:outputText value="Hello" rendered="#{myBean.renderHello}"/>
the render hello method looks like this in your backing bean "myBean"

return true; // or false
if getRenderHello() returns true, "Hello" will be displayed, if getRenderHello() returns false, it will not...
you can also use expressions in the jsf... for example...
<h:outputText value="Hello" rendered="#{myBean.someNumber == 5}"/>
if the "getSomeNumber()" method in your backing bean returns 5 it will be true and "Hello" will show up... otherwise it won't... :)

Dynamic Form - Barcode on master page, only contents on specific page to be populated on barcode

We have a dynamic form that grows as required. We have one barcode on the master page. As form grows to next page only the contents on that page (ie page 2) must be on the barcode on page 2 and page 1 content only on page 1. But if the form goes back to normal then the contents must not be on the barcode anymore.
Could anyone assist on this problem please?

For your issue, you can view the Upgrade Status page in Site Settings to verify that upgrade has succeeded for a site collection.
To view upgrade status in Site Settings
1.Verify that the user account that performs this procedure is a site collection administrator.
2.On the Site Settings page for the site collection, in the Site Collection Administration section, click Site collection upgrade.
3.On the Site Collection Upgrade page, click Review Site Collection Upgrade Status.
4.The Upgrade Status page for the site collection is displayed.

Also you can go to _layouts/15/reghost.aspx (Site Settings -> Site Actions -> Reset to site definition) and reset the master page gallery to site definition version.

Dynamic Form to Stop repeating when page is full

I have a dynamic form with a repeating subform .. I want the form to stop repeating once it reaches the end of the page (whether horizontally or vertically)- At the moment, it goes off the page & continues repeating.. Is there a solution for this?

Thanks, but the problem is Im designing a form similar to a blog that grows horizontally & vertically depending on the post / (subform instance) you reply to.. so there is no way of knowing at what instance it will reach the end of the page.. It might be the 10th or the 17th for example...

Dynamic Forms and WF

Hello,
I have designed a dynamic form, where user can add rows dynamically by clicking a button on the form, the form is working fine in preview in designer.
this form is initiating a LC WF process, but, if I deploy this form to form manager as an XDP and choose to render it to PDF, adding rows function does not work, however if I save this as dynamic PDF from LC designer and deploy it again to form manager, it works !!
However, I can not use PDF generated from LC Designer since I found that commenting and annotations are not working ( I am using acrobat ) which is an important feature, also, web services calls are not working even, again from Acrobat!
How can I set the form server installed with workflow server to render XDP templates into dynamic PDF forms ?
Or alternatively how to enable commenting and fix web service calls in PDF rendered form ?

By default Forms and Form Manager are configured to render a PDF as either static or dynamic based on some values in the XDP. By default those values will tell it to render a static PDF. What you can do, in Designer save as a dynamic PDF, then open the dynamic PDF in Designer and save as an XDP. Upload that XDP to Form Manager, the tags will be present to tell it to be rendered as a dynamic PDF. There's a better way if you are using Designer 7.1 and Forms 7.1, but since I don't know your environment this is a way that will work regardless of versions.
Annotations will not work in dynamic PDF's though. Currently annotations make no sense in dyanmic PDF's since the template of the PDF can dynamically change while annotations are bound to a specific location. IE: You have a dynamic PDF that is initial 4 pages and add an annotation to page 4. Later the template of the PDF changes based on data and user interaction and it is now a 2 page PDF, but the annotation is still on page 4 which no longer exists...

Broken Delete button in Dynamic Form. For the ADDT gurus!

I have a feeling i may be at Günter's mercy on this one. Hope you have time to look at this; of course for any and all, the same applies!
I have a dynamic list which i spent quite a lot of time with - rearranging elements within the ADDT generated KT_tng table. Just moving one recordset piece can take up to 30 seconds, so it takes QUITE a while with a lot of data to move.
Anyways, i seem to have "broken" the delete button in mine. I hope someone can help me fix it, i really dont have time to redo all the changes i did to the dynamic list layout. (i did test as i went to make sure i didnt break it, but guess i just missed a piece..) I changed mainly the location of things, and CSS.
I have an older version where the delete button works. I have compared but cannot find the answer. Both versions do everything else, live, with the database & their respective dynamic forms.
I have all 4 files live, and unprotected, for now, and txt versions of all four. If you need to test anything with the live pages, its ok, most of the data is dummy data.
Ive been saturated in ADDT dynamic lists, and dont have a background of hand coder, but am learning a lot, quick. so i have tried hard to understand this exact issue i created - im not looking for others to do my work. just my little disclaimer :)

Dynamic forms in struts

Hi,
I have a pretty difficult problem that I don't know how to solve using struts. I need to generate dynamic surveys from a database. The structure of the survey can be different for every different user. I really want to use the struts Form classes but I'm not sure how to do this. The only way I can think of is messy...
For every new type of survey generated from the database...
1. Generate a new class definition for the struts Form object and compile that.
2. Every struts Action class that interacts with the new dynamic Form classes will need to use reflection on the dynamic Form object to be able to pull all of the data from that form.
I'm sure there are many web sites where forms are dynamically generated and I would think this problem has already been solved. Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Dynamic forms not saved properly

Hi ,
I have a dynamic forms created using Adobe 8 LC.
After the form is generated thorugh application when I try to save the dynamic pdf using save button in Pdf toolbar, there are null values or extra rows of data being added to the dynamic pdf. The javascript calculations are not being displayed for eg totals .
I am unable to figure what is causing this extra rows to be added in the pdf. When I give a print option to PDF, the dynamic document is printed correctly without any extra rows.

When I insert, I get redirected to a "page not found", but the record gets inserted into the database.
I'm wondering if it is my Managed Site. I keep fumbling around until I get my site working. Currently I have my Local Info, which is my local folder and local IIS HTTP address. I have my Remote Info which is Local/Network Access and my Remote Folder on the LAN. I'm getting confussed with what my Testing Server should be. I have set my Server Model of PHP MySql and Access of Local/Network and the Tesing Server Folder as the same location as my Local Folder. My URL prefix is the same asa my local IIS HTTP address. Does all this look right?
The PHP version is 5.1.6
