Dynamic hyperlink runs executable with parameter

Hi
I have created a BI template for the Final Payment Register report in EBS Payables. We have a requirement to provide a link in the report next to each invoice so that users can view a scan of the invoice stored in a LONG RAW column from a third-party application.
I can view source and hack the HTM output with the following:

The control is in the exe, but if you only have your plugin vi without the control, then the vi is not executable.
--- I don't understand what you're saying. The control does exist in the EXE, it's used in lots of other places in the EXE. So I was expecting the plugin to be able to find it.
Every vi, you want to load dynamically, has to be executable independently from the exe which calls them.
--- That's not exactly true, specifically the "independently" part.
More testing with lots of these plugins has yielded the following rules for my case:
The plugin itself does NOT have to be in the ALWAYS INCLUDE list. That's obvious, or it wouldn't truly be a dynamic VI.
If the plugin uses a typedef control, then that control must be in the ALWAYS INCLUDE list. It doesn't matter if it's used in the main already, even 800+ times. It simply has to be in the list.
Any subVIs that the plugin calls have to either A) be already used in the main, so that they're in the EXE, or B) in the ALWAYS INCLUDE list.
My confusion comes from the difference between 2 and 3. Controls are fundamentally different from VIs in this treatment, and I didn't (don't) understand why.
I said that your "independently" comment was not true because of #3. These plugins are capable of finding subVIs in the parent EXE. They're dependent on the EXE, but they can still work if that dependency is resolvable.
For some reason, they're not capable of finding typedef controls in the parent.

hello all I have an executable i can click to start my vnc looks like

I tried it with my user pluged in and it will not work, but it's not what i want to do anyway i just want to run the executable i made after start up I think my problem is that it needs to be forking since my executable starts a vnc server, but i guess maybe i dont know how to fork it.

How do I dynamically create a hyperlink in Indesign with vb

Hi, does anyone know how to create a dynamic link to Indesign with vb? I'm coding a catalog from Access database with images and would like to make an "Enlarge image" hyperlink while generating the page. Somehow I seem to have no luck in my code. Thanks for any suggestions.

As simple as it sounds to create hyperlinks with VB into Indesign CS4 it really took time and effort to finally
come up with the solution. With the kind help of Max Dunn an old InDesign scripting bug with VB was discovered responsible for this. But if you split the job into two parts it can be done.
First make the document without hyperlinks in VB by putting the URLs in script labels on each graphic frame. Then in Indesing run a post-processing script in JavaScript that iterates through the graphic frames, and for each, if it has a script label, set that as the URL for hyperlink.
Here is how I did it in Indesign.

Remote debugging an executable with dynamically loaded subpanel VIs

All,
A colleague of mine is attempting to perform remote debugging of an executable he has inherited. It includes subpanels that show dynamically loaded VIs. When connecting with the remote debugger, the main executable shows fine, but the dynamically loaded VIs are not showing their front panels. They appear ok on the remote PC where the executable is running, but they don't appear on his laptop from where he is running the debugger.
I don't have access to LabVIEW currently, and he cannot get this to work, so I thought I'd ask the community this generic question:
"Is it possible to remotely debug a LabVIEW executable with subpanels that show dynamically loaded subVIs?"
Technically he can see and probe the block diagram of the main executable, but the subpanels are blank where the dynamcally loaded subVI front panel should show, making it impossible to interact with the program.

if I execute the code, when there has TABLES parameter defined in the FM, I get CX_SY_DYN_CALL_PARAM_MISSING exception with runtime error DATREF_NOT_ASSIGNED. But in debug mode, as shown in the screen shot attached, I did see the field TABLES_WA has correct type. So maybe I misunderstand the usage of PARAMETER-TABLE. Does anyone has experience on it?

Yes, I'm not passing value to the table parameter, but that parameter is where I want to retrieve data from FM, not pass value to, so I don't assign any value to ptab_line-value for that parameter.
BTW, I just did some test to pass value to the parameter using the following code and still got CALL_FUNCTION_PARM_MISSING exception:

How to run a webdynpro multiple times by passing different parameters each time and save webpages with parameter name?

I am a BW consultant and new to webdynpro. Not sure how to run RSO_METADATA_REPOSITORY multiple times and by passing different parameter values each time(either taken from an a standard BW table or user provided - anything is fine) and build web pages with parameter name. Need help with direction on where to start.
Let me step back and explain my requirement:
In BW we have an object called transformation.
One way of generating documentation for transformation is highlight transformation and press F1. Then its documentation will be opened as a local web page.
I need these web pages for all transformations. This is my requirment.
I came to know that RSO_METADATA_REPOSITORY is beeing used to generate this web page.
The web link is something like below:

WHere to start? First of all is RSO_METADATA_REPOSITORY Webdynpro JAVA or webdynpro ABAP or can i use anything?
Since it is beeing opened as local webpages i assume it is webdynpro JAVa is that correct?

Run Report with Pass Number and Varchar Lexical Parameter values

Dear Sir/Madam
Due to an urgent change required to a report I would most appreciate it if you can please advise me if it is possible to get this report working by either passing in multiple lexical parameters or one signle lexical parameter when calling the SRW.RUN_REPORT command with the following methods:
Firstly: When calling report with a run_no and spr_cd passed in through one lexical:
cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
CP_L_PARAM=RUN_NO=TO_NUMBER(28) AND SPR_CD=SUPP1
Both with a TO_NUMBER and without, whereby I attempt to do a SUBSTR within the query of the called report to derive the RUN_NO Oracle Reports fails to accept the SUBSTR.
Secondly: I am now trying to call the with passing two lexical parameters into the report as follows:
cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
CP_L_RUN_NO=||TO_CHAR(lv_run_no)|| CP_L_SPR_CD=||lv_spr_cd;
NOTE: The above is an output of the actual command line and not what is passed into the command line, thus the quotes are missing. Please also note that the report is running fine with the only a hard coded RUN_NO value PASSED without the SPR_CD.
Unfortunately this is also causing issues as the RUN_NO is a number and as you know you can only pass in strings.
Your urgent help is required on this matter please as our client is expecting a solution this afternoon.

It seems SBO cannot accept parameter to query user defined tables.

Troubles with opening attachments when user have restristed priviledge to run executable code only from ProgramFiles and Windows folders.

I try to restrict users from executing any potentialy dangerous files. So according to Windows policies I set. Users can run any application from Program Files, Program Files (x86), Windows and all users' desktop folder. Users have no permission to write anything in this folders. When user duble clicks for example *.doc document on his desktop - document opens with MS Word just fine. But when user try to open this document from e-mail attachment directly (selecting open with MS Word, instead of saving) - he sees an error - "This action is restricted by local policy. Ask your system administrator." (not exact text).
So I want, users able to open attachments from Thunderbird automatically, but not able to run any application or link, except Program Files, Program Files (x86), Windows and all users' desktop folder. How can I get this result?

I found out what was happening.
This strange "bug" affects several computers with Windows 7 Ultimate in my case.
When you create SRP (software restriction policies) it creates two default rules for running programs: windows folder and Program Files folder. Manually I add "C:\Program Files (x86)" in unrestricted locations. BUT Windows and Program Files folder linked in default rules not directly, but through registry keys. And this part seems tricky. You CAN run executables from Program Files. You CAN run executables from Program Files (x86). But if Thunderbird or Firefox try to run MSword, or excel or writer for opening *.doc or *.odt or some other downloaded file - running from Program Files blocked by SRP.
So to resolve this problem you just need to replace rules for undirect paths like %HKLM/software/microsoft/windows ... etc% with direct ones, such as "C:/Windows" and "C:/Program Files/". After this all works fine. Attachments and downloaded files opens automatically without problems.

Running executable jar with additional classpath

I have specified a classpath entry in my manifest file for library.jar and a main class entry for main.class in my myapp.jar archive.
I can run myapp using
java -jar myapp.jar
when the library.jar is in the same directory like myapp.jar.
Is there a way to put library.jar in another directory and still run myapp with something like
java -classpath /path/to/library.jar -jar myapp.jar

I want to share library.jar for different jars in different locations and do not want to copy it to all those locations...

When you use the -jar option of the java application launcher, the only Classpath that is used is the jar file or the Classpath specified by the Class-Path line in the mainifest of the jar.

The problem is that sqlplus asks me for the parameter values and then creates it with these values as literal dates in the to_date function, those not asking for parameter values in runtime.
How can I create it using parameters with no values at design time?

How do I create an executable with arguments that executes once and terminates

I'm just starting with LabView, so I'm sure this issue has been address somewhere already. I just can't locate the answer.
I am running version 6i (I may be able to get 7 or 8).
I need to create a command line executable program with parameter input that executes only once and then terminates.
This is for instrument control (sets the signal generator frequency, level, RF on/off and arms the Trigger). I have written a simple VI that works from within LabView (programs the instrument when the Run button is pressed). I have further managed to perform an Application Build to create an executable however, the application continues to run, waiting for the Run button to be pressed. Also, I need to know how to pass parameters to this executable (freq, level, RF on/off, trigger arm).
This executable will (eventually) be called repeatedly by a Matlab file.

I'm not sure I understand you problem with the Run button. If you set the execution mode to Run When Opened from VI Properties, it should execute once whenever it's called. I think that when building an executable, it changes the property to this if it's not already set. If the application does not have this set, it will not be running at all. I'm assuming that you are talking about the Run button on the toolbar and not a run Boolean that you've created on the front panel.
Since you have the app builder, your other option is to create a DLL. If you can call a DLL in Matlab, then that would probably be simpler.
