Dynamic in SELECT statement

Hi,
I have a SELECT statement where I need the year to be dynamic. The user select a range of months where the script should execute and based on the input I would like to create a dynamic SELECT statement.
My SELECT statement looks like:
*SELECT(%TIME1%, "[ID]", TIME,[YEAR]="2010" AND [MONTHNUM]="1")
I would like to replace the hardcode year (2010) with a dymamic string. I have tried to use %YEAR% but I couldn't make it work.
Thanks

Hi,
Basically, the %YEAR% is a dynamic variable which is picked from the YEAR property of the CATEGORY dimension. So, for example, you run the package for the category as actual, and if in the category dimension, the year property of actual is set to 2010. then %YEAR% will be 2010.
So, if the user selects a time member in the prompt, you can select the year from that member using:
*SELECT(%MY_YEAR%, "[YEAR]", TIME, [ID]=%TIME_SET%)
Hope this helps.

    Hi all,
In selection screen we are having period as select option. The values for period are 01 to 16. Based on
the values entered in selection screen for period we need to select HSLXX from FAGLFLEXT.
For example if we enter 01 to 03 in selection screen then we need to select HSL01 HSL02 HSL03

Like this we need to select fields dynamically in select statement. Can any one tell me how to restrict fields dynamically.

  • Dynamic WHERE clause in SELECT statement

    Hi,
I need to extract (SELECT) all the products in different salesorganizations. Since a product can be available in more than 1 salesorg I have created several properties in the PRODUCT dimension - 1 for each salesorganization (naming: Sxxxx where xxxx is the salesorganization number).
Since I need to prefix the salesorganization property with an "S" I have created a property on the SALESORG dimension called SALESORG.
Therefore I need to create a dynamic WHERE clause in the SELECT statement. Currently my script is:
    *SELECT(%SORG%, "[SALESORG]",SALESORG, [ID]=%SALESORG_SET%)
    *SELECT(%PROD%, "[ID]",PRODUCT, [%SORG%]="X")
My first SELECT find the Sxxx (equal to the property I need in the PRODUCT dimension). My second SELECT uses the variable in the first SELCT statement to use the correct property for the WHERE clause.
Unfortunately the code is not validated - any suggestions?
    /Lars

    Hi Lars,
If you run it from a DM package without validating it, does it still work? I would bet it does.
If this is the case I would open a message with SAP (it would be an enhancement request). Until they fix the validation code, you would just have to live with the script not validating.
    Cheers,
    Ethan

  • Dynamic SELECT statement causing CX_SY_DYNAMIC_OSQL_SEMANTICS error.

    Hello Gurus,
We have a dynamic SELECT statement in our BW Update Rules where the the Selection Fields are populated at run-time and so are the look-up target and also the WHERE clause. The code basically looks like below:
              SELECT (lt_select_flds)
                FROM (lf_tab_name)
INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE <lt_data_tab>
                FOR ALL ENTRIES IN <lt_source_data>
                WHERE (lf_where).
In this instance, we are selecting 5 fields from Customer Master Data and the WHERE condition for this instance of the run is as below:
    WHERE: DIVISION = <lt_source_data>-DIVISION AND DISTR_CHAN = <lt_source_data>-DISTR_CHAN AND SALESORG = <lt_source_data>-SALESORG AND CUST_SALES = <lt_source_data>-SOLD_TO AND OBJVERS = 'A'
This code was working fine till yesterday when we encountered serious performance problems and the Basis team had to do some changes at the DB level [Oracle]. Ever since, when we execute our data load, we get the CX_SY_DYNAMIC_OSQL_SEMANTICS.
Is setting changes at the Oracle level cause issues with how the data is being read at the DB. If yes, can you suggest what can we do to this code to get is working correctly [in case Basis can't revert back their changes]?
Would appreciate any help we can get here.

You don't understand - this error comes up when we run specific BEx queries.  It was working yesterday, but today it is not.  Our support package did not change from yesterday.  We did not apply any OSSnotes.
We are however doing pre-prepare on our Prod system.
The temporary table is used to store SIDs for use in the join.  the table exists in the dictionary, but not at an Oracle level.

  • DYnamic select statement in JDBC adapter?

    Hi guys,
Is it possible so send dynamic select statement in jdbc adapter?
    XIer

    Aamir,
The poster did not specify whether this was sender or receiver channel, but it would only make sense that a "dynamic query" must be on the receiver communication channel since if it was on the sender channel, the channel would have to intelligently determine how to do dynamic queries.
Also, the poster asked if there was a way to "send a dynamic query" to the channel.  This seems to imply that the channel is receiving information from somewhere to determine the query, which could only mean it is a receiver channel.
If you would like more information on the JDBC sender communication channel, please open a new thread.

  • Dynamic Parameter LOV Select Statement

I have a parameter form with a value for the fiscal year and equipment ID. I want to populate the equipment ID list of values based on the fiscal year that is selected.
My query for the equipment ID list of values would be SELECT EQPID,NAME FROM EQPLIST WHERE FY = :FY.
When I tried to add this query to the list of values of the equipment ID parameter I get REP-0781: Bind variables are not allowed in the Select statement.
Is there a way to dynamically generate the list of values select statement in a reports trigger?

    Hi,
What version of Oracle Reports are you using?
Unfortunately, it is a limitation of Oracle Reports to not restrict values based on other parameters - for sure until Reports 6i and I believe until the recent new versions.
The other way to do what you want to do is to do it outside of Reports, if you have an Oracle Forms application. For example, you can create a simple Oracle Form that captures the Report parameters and then submits the report from the Forms. In Forms, you can implement the solution you are looking for - restricting values based on values of other parameters. In reports, you can't do that.
If you have a few other reports that have similar requirements, then you can create a form to launch reports and submit all your reports from there after capturing all your parameters there.

  • Problem - Creating a Dynamic LOV using duplicate value in select statement

I am trying to create a Dynamic LOV by attempting to follow a pattern similar to the following:
    select shop_name d, shop_id r
    from shops
    order by 1
However, I want to use the shop_name twice as in the following because I do not have any other unique identifier available such as a shop_id to associate with the shop name:
    select shop_name d, shop_name r
    from shops
    order by 1
But I get an error where I am not allowed to duplicate the shop_name in the select statement. I read somewhere on this forum where it can be done but I can't find exactly how.
Can someone tell or show me how to accomplish this?
Thanks in anticipation for your answer.
    Thanks,
    Ric

    Ric,
I just tried to do this on APEX 3.0, and it worked just fine with this SQL:
select ename d, ename r from emp order by 1Perhaps you could put an example on apex.oracle.com or specify the error message that you're getting.
So as long as you have uniquely aliased both columns, this should not present a problem.
    Thanks,

  • How do you include static text in select statement in Dynamic pl/sql

I want to include some atatic text and get the output of 4 columns joined with a ":" delimiter within them in a select statement built using Dynamic PL/SQL. How do I build it.
    e.g.
    Normal select statement would be
select 'MY SKU IS : ', col1||':'||col2||':'||col3||':'||col4 from table1 where ....where condition
    and output looks like :
    MY SKU IS A:B:C:D
    MY SKU IS a:b:c:d
    Dynamically I have -
    SQL_Stmt := 'select 'MY SKU IS : ', col1||':'||col2||':'||col3||':'||col4 from table1 where '|| wherecondition;
I understand that this does not work because the single quote terminates the string. But my question is how do I achieve the same result with dynamic PL/SQL ? How do I include the static strings and the delimiters. I have tried using double quote, '\'....
    ????

    SQL_Stmt := 'select ''MY SKU is ' || col1 || '':'' ||
                                         col2 || '':'' ||

  • JDBC: Dynamic select statement

    Hi,
I am working on a JDBC to SAP integration. I am trying to SELECT data from table for a specific time interval.
In the JDBC configuration i am using the Query SQL Statement
For example: select * from X where time='20080808'
Now is it possible to use for example the system date and time of the server where pi is installed or any other dynamic data?
Maybe like this: select * from X where time =@sysdate
If it is possible how? If not why?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
In case of receiver JDBC you can map todays date to the select statement and make the select statement dynamic, however in the sender it can't be done. The work around may be to call the stored procedure from the sender adapter and using the stored procedure construct the select query dynamically.
    Thanks
